Oscar Predictions for this Sunday…

Oscar predictions for this Sunday, I haven’t seen most of the movies this year but these are just my guesses that will win:

Best Picture – “The Descendants” or “Hugo”
Actor in a Leading Role – George Clooney for “the Descendants”
Actress in a Leading Role – Michelle Williams for “My Week With Marilyn” or Rooney Mara for “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”
Actor in a Supporting Role – Nick Nolte for “Warrior”
Actress in a Supporting Role – Octavia Spencer for “The Help”
Animated Feature Film – “Rango”
Directing: Alexander Payne for “The Descendants”
Writing (Adaptive Screenplay): “Moneyball” (because of Aaron Sorkin)
Writing (Original Screenplay): “Midnight in Paris” by Woody Allen

I remember, I once said Nick Nolte was snubbed from the Oscars, but I looked at the Nominations list again and saw him on there. I must of missed it, someone should have told me!

I hate most award shows, but the Oscars I like to watch. It’s pretty much the only award show I enjoy more than the others. Looking forward to the Oscars, Sunday night. I’ll be DVR’ing the “Walking Dead” while watching it.

My goal with singing…

There’s a lot that I still want to accomplish in music and goals to achieve. One is to learn to sing better. Yes, learn to become an actual singer. I refuse to work with a vocal coach, ’cause you’re just going to get their style. That’s why I feel it’s better to work with vocal instructional DVD/books. They are better to learn from ’cause you can get your own style that way. Be a self taught singer just like you are self taught at guitar playing.

I want to be able to sing higher, stronger, and with more emotion. It’ll take years of practice and learning, but you’ll get there if you keep at it. Some people make the mistake that you can’t get better at singing, well you can. There’s always ways to improve even if you suck now.

I don’t think I’m a great singer, I just do it for the enjoyment of it. In music, you don’t need to be a professionally trained singer if you want to sing. Just do it if you like it. No matter how bad your voice sounds. Look where it got Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Neil Young or hell, even Ozzy. They never had professional vocal training, they just did it ’cause they wanted to.

You can still write a good song, no matter what your voice sounds like. It’s all about the passion and the emotion. The intensity of the song is what matters.

I do want to improve the singing and trying to get better as you can tell. Metal Method’s “Vocal Power” is probably the best vocal instruction out there, it really works. It helped my voice become a little bit stronger. I know I plug in “Vocal Power” quite a bit here, but it is recommended if you want to get better yourself.

Cool Video: Admiral General Aladeen himself responds to the Oscar banning…

LMAOF!!! This is why Sacha is the fucking man! Here he is in character of the The Dictator, threatening the Academy to lift the ban or there will be consequences.

Comic genius. See? The guy is  unpredictable, you just never know what he’s going to do. It’ll be interesting to see what he’s planning at the Oscars.

I’ll be posting my Oscar predictions today.

Recording sessions had been disrupted when bassist and keyboard player John Paul Jones had proposed quitting the band, supposedly to become choirmaster at Winchester Cathedral, England, although in reality he just needed time to rest after Zeppelin’s demanding tour schedule. The group decided on a double album so they could feature songs left over from their previous albums Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV and Houses Of The Holy.

– In 2010: 50 Cent was being sued over claims he unlawfully distributed a homemade sex video. Lastonia Leviston filed legal action in Manhattan, saying she made the private video with a lover in 2008 and alleged that 50 Cent posted the video on his website last year after blurring out the lover’s face – and editing himself into it as narrator.

– In 2011: Suze Rotolo, Bob Dylan’s girlfriend in the early-Sixties, who walked arm-in-arm with the songwriter on the iconic cover of ‘The Freehweelin’ Bob Dylan’, died aged 67 after a long illness. She inspired such Dylan songs as ‘Don’t Think Twice’, ‘It’s All Right’, ‘Boots Of Spanish Leather’ and ‘Tomorrow Is A Long Time’.

Maybe I’m supposed to be a cover song artist, I don’t know…

Again, my original songs seem to be getting largely ignored by the public. It seems that my cover songs is getting more respect than the originals. That’s okay with me though. As long as people can see that I have “talent”, that’s all that matters to me. Even though I started getting back to covers again, I’ll continue to do them, and I’ll continue to write original songs ’cause I write to express myself.

As for cover songs, I’ll just pick the ones that I like, my favorite songs and if it’s a song I think I am able to pull off, I’ll do it.

I’m proud of being an original songwriter as well, I’ll continue to do that, whether my originals get a large response or not. I just love making music, it’s a passion of mine and always will be.

Cool Video: Brock digs this song by Probing Digit, “Five Pounds”

This band from Saratoga Springs called, Probing Digit, just released this interesting video with a song called, “Five Pounds”. I saw them play at Battle of the Bands at SPAC last year and they played this song. This band maybe weird and they may seem hard to get at first, but they’re actually pretty good. I dig this song, “Five Pounds” and the video is funny too. Enjoy.

I like to help plug in other local bands & artists in this site too.

Report: Okay, Sacha Baron Cohen not banned from the Oscars, but might not be allowed to wear, “The Dictator” costume…

The Academy were quick to respond to reports and they denied banning Sacha Baron Cohen. They’re just waiting to see what he’s planning to do. He’s planning to show up in character in, “The Dictator” (pictured above), but the Academy is worried that he might do something crazy and offensive.

The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Oh please, the Academy should not be taking him so seriously. The guy’s a comedian and a pretty funny one, I must say. I am looking forward to “The Dictator” ’cause it looks like a funny ass movie. I like Sacha’s films when he’s starring in the leading role. Yes, “Borat” and “Bruno” are both good movies. Sascha is obviously politically motivated ’cause all three of these films are based on politics, in some way.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Sacha is going to do this Sunday at the Oscars. The man is unpredictable. Since they might not allow him to show up as the Dictator, what’s stopping him from showing up as Bruno or Borat? Ever think about that, eh?

I’m looking forward to the Oscars this Sunday. I’ll be DVR’ing the Walking Dead while I’m watching it. I’ll  post my Oscar predictions later tonight.

Report: J.K. Rowling, officially all done with Harry Potter, she wants to try to write an adult novel next…

Ever since author, J.K. Rowling, finished writing the Harry Potter series, she hasn’t released a new novel since. It’s been 5 years since she hasn’t released a new book. That’s okay for her, ’cause she doesn’t need to release books as much anymore. She have made a fortune out of the Harry Potter books and I’m pretty sure she gets paid for the movies, that includes payments from the Harry Potter theme parks at both Universal Studios. She’s an extremely rich woman that she doesn’t need to write anymore if she doesn’t want to. I guess, she is continuing to write ’cause writing is her passion.

She has signed a book deal with Little, Brown publishing company to release her next book in the U.S. and the U.K. This will be her first novel for adult readers only and her focus in the novel could be away from magic and Wizards that she’s known for. It’s going to be a different genre even if details haven’t been released yet.

What genre is the next book going to be? Since it’s going to be an adult story, not for children. It might be a romance novel, that might be pretty racy and sexual. Or it could be a horror novel or mystery, something like that.

I can definitely see it being away from Fantasy novels ’cause she’s done the Fantasy thing for so long with Harry Potter. I can’t blame her for wanting to do something different finally. It’ll be interesting to see what she has in store for us, and I’ll be looking forward to this book, no matter what genre it is.
