Just picked up Neil Young’s and Arnold’s books today!!!

So I went out to the mall today to catch a movie and to pick up a few things. Those few things were these two books shown in the photo above. I’ve already started reading the Arnold book, and already 80 pages into it. I’m already addicted to the Arnold book and it’s hard to put down. Critics and fans are giving the Arnold book negative reviews, but so far I’m loving it! Very informative and entertaining! I’ll review these two books after I read them.

I’ve just seen the movie, “Taken 2”, today and about to post the review in a little bit.

I’m only interested in reading about Arnold’s bodybuilding and movie career, NOT his personal life and politics…

I know in Arnold’s book, “Total Recall”, there’s going to be a lot of confessions about his affair with that maid and making a child with her and all, but I’m not interested in that stuff. I don’t care about Arnold’s personal life, or political life. I want to read more about his bodybuilding career and films is what I’m most interested in. He inspired me for that stuff. I want to know how he got his first role in, “Hercules New York”, and all the behind the scenes stuff  of all of his films. I want to know how he got the roles for the Terminator and Conan. What ‘its like working with James Cameron and all that stuff. I also want to know more about his friendship with Sly Stallone which he will probably talk about a lot in that book. I want to know why he and Sly never starred in movies together in the past and why they’re doing it now, he’ll explain that too I’m sure. I can’t wait to get the book next week. I want to get it on hardcover as part of a collector’s item, it might be valuable 20 years from now.

There are 4 books out that I want to buy and read…

There are 4 different new books that came out this year that I want to get, but will buy them soon.

They are:

– J.K. Rowling “The Casual Vacancy”

– Mark Owen “No Easy Day”

– Neil Young “Waging Heavy Peace”

– Arnold ‘s “Total Recall”

So many books to read, so little time. The Arnold book comes out Tuesday, which that maybe the first one I’ll get, I’ll try to get the Neil Young book too. The other two I’ll just read on the Ipad for Ibooks. The Neil Young and Arnold books I would want on hardcover.

Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies. When I want some peace and quiet, I’ll relax with a good book. Reading helps me think and be inspired.

I just finished reading “The Colorado Kid” by Stephen King on Ibooks. I think I’ll start reading “Neuromancer”, by William Gibson next. I’m planning to hit Barnes & Noble sometime next week.

Book Review: “The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe” by Donald H. Wolfe…

Today, I finally finished the book, “The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe” by Donald H. Wolfe. Yes, I know, my Marilyn obsession continues. I also know that there are way too many biographies published about M.M. but most of them aren’t true and accurate. This one is. While this book here is a biography, it does talk about her childhood, all the way up to her death, this book mostly focuses on her death. It mostly focuses on what happened before she died, hence the title.

This book did a good job on proving that Marilyn’s death could have been a possible homicide or murder. The facts were backed up and researched pretty carefully. The writer did his homework for sure. Some may think that Marilyn had a good life, but she did not. She had a difficult life before her death. Her death has always been mysterious, and I’ve always believed Bobby Kennedy had killed her in some way. There is no way to prove that he did it now ’cause he is dead too obviously. A lot of people like to believe that the Kennedy’s were good politicians and good people, but they weren’t. Both Jack and Bobby Kennedy were assholes. They were the ones who shut Marilyn out of their lives shortly after she sang “Happy Birthday” to Jack at MSG.

Her death has always been looked at as a suicide for years, but it couldn’t have been. She was going to finish “Something’s Got to Give” and she was going to work on another musical film with Frank Sinatra after, a film that never got made. I enjoy reading about Marilyn and her history. I enjoy watching her films, and her story and life, is just inspiring to me. She was never considered a train wreck. She was no Anna Nicole back in those days. Marilyn has always been likeable to everyone. She never wanted to be looked at as a sex symbol. Marilyn was an entertainer who had a lot of personal problems.

Even though Marilyn is gone, I already feel like I know her, which what makes her pretty powerful. It almost makes me wish I was around when she was alive. This is a very good book and it’s recommended reading. Probably the best Marilyn biography out there, and this is the only one I’ve read. It’s a pretty new book too. Just came out earlier this year.

Cool Video: Arnold does his famous “Get to da Choppa” catchphrase to lucky voice mail winner…

For a while now Arnold Schwarzenegger has been doing a contest where a lucky winner will get Arnold to do a voice mail recording for your cell phone or mobile phone or whatever, as a way to help market his book, “Total Recall”. Here is Arnold himself at his home recording his voicemail message to his lucky winner, proving that this is the real thing.

Arnold still does his “Get to Da Choppa” quote very well! Awesome! Can’t wait for the “Total Recall” book too, I will buy it.

Cool Photo: Get your first look of the back cover of Arnold’s upcoming new memoir, “Total Recall”…

Arnold Schwarzenegger just revealed the back cover of his new upcoming memoir, “Total Recall”, an autobiography, the man wrote himself. The book will focus on his life and career, everything from bodybuilding, acting, and politics. I’m more interested in reading about his bodybuilding and acting more than politics. While I am a fan of his bodybuilding and movies, I was never a big fan of him being Governor of California. I’ll have to agree, that he was a nightmare of a politician. Glad he’s finally done with politics.

Anyway, here’s the back cover of “Total Recall” book, here.

As you can see, the back cover is just the front cover of the first “Terminator” film. Can’t wait to read the book. I think it’s coming out in Oct. I’ll buy the hardcover version at “Barnes and Noble”. Arnold’s been writing books for a long while now, he just haven’t wrote one about himself yet.

Report: First Universal Studios drops, “The Dark Tower”, now Warner Bros. refuses to make it…

For reasons unknown, Warner Bros., all of a sudden refuses to make Ron Howard’s “The Dark Tower” series adapted from, Stephen King. First Universal bails out, now WB’s.

Variety reports.

While I do want these movies to be made into big screen movies and TV shows, honestly, I can understand why no studio wants to make it so far. Why? The Dark Tower has a total of 7 books. Ron wants to make 3 big screen movies and 2 mini series, which would be a bit too hectic for a studio to work on. Plus, I’m willing to bet, the budget is the problem. It’s going to be a very expensive project. Would probably cost billions to get these made. It would require a lot of CGI work and stuff ’cause of the different world that Roland is in. It’s going to be very challenging to bring these to the screen.

They’ll probably negotiate with Paramount next, but they probably won’t do it either. They might as well scrap the project if no one wants to do it. Even Javier Bardem don’t even want to do it anymore. This sounds like a pretty overwhelming project. Maybe Ron oughta shorten it up a bit, if he’s serious about this.

Report: Judge to decide Superman’s fate soon on whether or not, Joe Shuster, can get the rights back…

So is this heated legal drama with Warner Bros/DC vs. the Shuster/Siegel heirs almost over with? Seems so. More news came up about the long Superman legal battle that the U.S. District judge, cancelled the upcoming hearing originally scheduled for Aug. 20th, and the judge will decide right away whether or not Shuster will get portion of the rights, from the very first Superman “Action Comics” ever printed. (photo above)

More on the story, here.

I’m still rooting for Warner Bros./DC team to win this legal battle, all the way. This Toberoff sounds like a pretty sleazy lawyer. This battle is kind of depressing for a Superman fan like myself. I’m hoping this war will be over this year. Sounds like Toberoff is going to lose this battle anyway, since the Judge cancelled the hearing on him. The first Superman comic is very valuable and that’s why people fight over the rights. It’s all about the money, of course. What else would it be?

Warner Bros. is trying to get the full rights back ’cause they want to use some of that material in the movies. I hope WB’s will be victorious.

Finished reading, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey… (***Spoilers****)

I may have read “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, once a long time ago in high school, but I had to give it a re-read, to see how different it is than the movie. Yes, both the movie and the book are very different. I find the book way better than the movie, of course. The movie version only took a few scenes from the book, but the rest of the film, they made it their own movie, pretty clearly. The movie left so much out and changed so much around.

A few examples below with a spoiler warning:

**************SPOILER*********************************

– The only scenes that the movie took from the book, were McMurphy’s request to vote to watch the World Series. Billy Bibbit’s death was pretty much the same. Chief killing McMurphy by smothering him with the pillow to escape the ward was the same.

– The patients do go on that deep sea fishing trip in the boat, but it’s a little different than the movie version.

– In the book, the character Cheswick kills himself by drowning himself in the pool, but in the movie version, the character lives.

– McMurphy’s character is a little different than the movie version. In the book, McMurphy was described as a muscular red head. Jack Nicholson’s version is a little different, although the dialogue is pretty similar.

“Cuckoo’s Nest” is one of my favorite movies ever made, but I have a feeling that a remake of the film is on the way so it can be more adapted from the book. Wouldn’t surprise me if Hollywood is planning a remake of this film. It is a great book though, I couldn’t put it down.
