Cool Video: The Who on the Smothers Brothers TV show, Keith Moon’s famous explosion!

This is such a cool performance, I just had to share it here. I’m sure Pete Townshend will talk about this incident for his upcoming rock memoir, so I can’t wait to read what Pete will have to say about this performance. Pete blames part of his hearing loss because of this performance, and I can see why. Pete was standing so close to the bass drum when it exploded. The bass drum explosion almost hit Roger too.

I also loved how John stayed out of everything. He’s like, “These guys are nuts, I’m not gonna let them smash my bass”.

This is one of the Who’s best TV performances though and a pretty historic one too. The Who, have always been one of my favorite classic rock bands. Always fuckin’ loved them!

Report: Actor/Comedian/Musician, Michael McKean hit by car in NYC and suffers broken leg…

Michael McKean, who is most famous for his roles as Lenny in “Laverne & Shirley”, and David St. Hubbins in, “This Is Spinal Tap”, was seriously injured and suffered broken leg, after he was hit by a car in NYC. This really sucks ’cause he is a talented man, and I admired his work for years. Especially, “This is Spinal Tap”, which is one of my favorite films of all time. Plus, he is a great musician and singer too. The man is multi-talented. He did just about everything you can think of in the entertainment industry. That’s why he gets my respect. I hope he gets well soon.

2 history making recordings have made the Library of Congress, Recording Registry. Donna Summer’s hit, “I Feel Love” and the Grateful Dead’s historic concert which is the most important of the band’s career, 1977 @ Barton Hall, are being inducted into the registry. Congrats to both of them and very well deserved. I’m sure both Donna and Jerry, would be proud if they were still alive today.

“No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath”??? Get over it and get used to it!!!!

I’m getting real tired of the “No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath” responses in facebook. In facebook, you see a lot of “No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath” in various facebook fan pages. Through the official Black Sabbath facebook, Tony Iommi facebook, Guitar World magazine facebook, etc. Any music news website that reports Black Sabbath, the fans will reply back, “No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath”. While the news reporters online, do a good job keeping up to date with this back and forth feud, the fans are a bunch of assholes and don’t know much about music.

In defense of Black Sabbath, bands move on, bands change. No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath? Why don’t you say, “No John Bonham, No Led Zeppelin” when they reunited for the O2 show a few years back. Why don’t you say “No Bon Scott, No Ac/Dc”. Why don’t you say, “No Layne Staley, No Alice in Chains”. Why don’t you say, “No Cliff Burton, No Metallica”. Why don’t you say, “No Hilel Slovak, No Red Hot Chilli Peppers”. Why don’t you say, “No Ace Frehley, No Kiss”. Why don’t you say, “No Marty Friedman, No Megadeth”. “Why don’t you say, “No Keith Moon or John Entwistle, No the Who”.

All those bands, I listed above, continued on without their well known members. Their well known members that were the star of the band either died or left, but they all continued the band anyway with various members over the years. Bands change and evolve. I believe all those fans that say, “No Bill Ward, No Black Sabbath” are new fans who are young, who don’t know much about the history of rock too well. Especially the history of Sabbath, who went through too many different members over the years. They just don’t understand it.

Even Bill himself is cool with Black Sabbath going on without him. He even wished them good luck on their upcoming gigs on his website. Bill didn’t demand a high payment that the band couldn’t afford, he said it wasn’t true. He said his payment request was fair, and affordable. All he’s asking for is something “sign-able”, something official. Bill’s requests were pretty simple, and I’m sure it’s easy to give him what he wants. For some reason Sabbath is being difficult on him. I’m not sure of all this legal bullshit, so I don’t know anything about that stuff, but like I said before, all this stuff is behind the scenes of the music business. Bill has his own reasons for making this public. He has his own reasons for backing out of the reunion. The point of this post, is that bands don’t stay together with the same members forever. Except for U2, which is one of the only bands who have the same members for years to this day.

This wasn’t the first time, Bill and Black Sabbath had a public feud. They had one way back in 2006, when Tony asked Bill to play drums with Heaven & Hell, with Ronnie James Dio as the frontman. Bill was on board for that project at first, but later bailed due to musical differences. See? These guys had problems for years. They have no personal hatred against each other, it’s all business, behind the scenes bullshit. Sabbath is used to playing with different people over the years.

This feud is just proof that the music industry is a sleazy business. Are you sure you bands out there really want the fame?

Cool Video: Black Sabbath performs their hometown of Birmingham last night, minus Bill Ward on the drums…

Last night, Black Sabbath, the original members (minus Bill Ward, of course), played the O2 Academy in Birmingham, the hometown of the band. They used this gig as a try out, to see if they still have it for their Download and Lollapalooza performances, in other words, this is just a warm up performance. As expected, Black Sabbath did put on a KILLER show even without Bill. Like I said before, no matter who the drummer is, the band is going to rock it.

There are mixed opinions and views by the public of this Black Sabbath vs. Bill Ward feud. Some support Bill, and hate Sabbath for what they’ve done. There are also those that support Sabbath and hate Bill for being a greedy egomaniac. So who’s side am I on? Both of them. Whatever they do behind the scenes of the music business is their business, lets just leave it at that. Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes. Everyone is going by what Bill said about Black Sabbath on his website. Whatever they do is between them, we don’t know anything.

Black Sabbath is doing the right thing, brushing off Bill’s drama. Just appreciate music and appreciate Black Sabbath, if you call yourself a true fan. I don’t know who this mysterious drummer is in the videos but he seems to be doing a good job. Even if Tony has cancer, he still looks great in these videos. You can tell he’s pretty sick, but he seems to play well like always.

Enjoy these videos!

Report: Bono, “…this boy is not a billionaire, or going to be richer than any Beatle”…

Bono is quick to respond to today’s reports on him getting part of a share from Facebook’s IPO, filing. Reports went all over the news that Bono could be the richest rock star on the planet. The reason is, his company Elevation Partners, owns 2.3 % of Facebook, and the company gets part of the share of IPO. Today, it was discovered that Bono doesn’t really own, Elevation Partners, he is only part of the company. He claims he’ll be getting paid but not as much as people would like them to believe. Elevation Partners, is a company that helps invest in media, entertainment, and technology.

Shame on the Associated Press for exposing Loretta Lynn, bastards! SHAME ON THEM!

Can you believe this fucking shit? This is why I hate today’s entertainment media. I was kind of pissed when I read this article by the Associated Press. Exposing the truth about Loretta Lynn when she first married as a teen. I mean, who cares how old she was when she first married. IT’S NONE OF ANYONE’S BUSINESS BUT HERS! Cruel. If she lied about her age when she first married, who cares.

She’s a country music legend and a talented one. The media these days will do anything for gossip stories and do anything to make famous people look bad.

Report: Van Halen squashes rumors of not getting along, they just want to take a break and take it easy…

Van Halen was quick to respond to rumors that were started by Rollingstone magazine, and other music fans. The band wants to set the record straight, that the band, Van Halen, still get along and love each other like brothers. Even Dave and Eddie are both best friends, still. It’s just that the past 18 months overwhelmed the band, and they just want to enjoy the summer for themselves. I can’t blame them!

I have always been a fan of Van Halen, still am too. Glad the guys are all good and cool.

Read the band’s write up about it, here.

Report: Black Sabbath refuses to respond to Bill Ward’s statement and vows to go on without him…

The show must go on, right? With or without Bill. They certainly don’t screw around with anyone’s drama that’s for sure.

Read Sabbath’s about Bill’s statement, here.

Whether, Bill is right or wrong, Sabbath is gonna put on a rockin’ performance. I do agree that the band will sound different without Bill, but they’re still gonna do great. They’re still gonna rock your socks off.

I’m sure the band will release a live DVD/CD of their upcoming three performances sometime in the future. I’m a huge Sabbath fan, always has been. I loved both Ozzy and RJD eras. Of course, I loved the Ozzy era more like most people.

Report: Van Halen postpones summer tour dates for reason not yet known, band not getting along again???

Van Halen announced, the band have postponed their Summer tour but they haven’t explained why. Sources say, the band haven’t been getting along again.

More on the story, here.

It wouldn’t surprise me if David L.R., and Eddie are fighting again. What do you expect when you bring back two icons of rock n’ roll together? Ego and jealousy will get in the way with things. It also wouldn’t surprise me if the band breaks up again.
