There’s another huge birthday to celebrate in the world of music today. Today is Jimmy Page’s 67’th birthday! Happy Birthday, Jimmy! This is the man that inspired me to pick up the guitar. I like a lot of guitarists out there but Jimmy Page is my no. 1. I too hope he comes out with a new music project soon. It’s been a long time since he’s done something since the Led Zeppelin reunion at the O2.

Today is not only David Bowie’s birthday, it is also Elvis Presley’s birthday! Yes, if the King of Rock N’ Roll was still alive today, he would have been 75. Would Elvis still be making music, touring and acting in movies if he was still alive? Of course he would. I don’t see him giving that stuff up if he was still here. Elvis is an inspiration too.

Today is David Bowie’s 64th birthday. He is such a hero to me. I’m such a huge fan of Bowie’s music, I’ve followed his music for years and he’s one of the reasons I became a songwriter. Thanks David, and enjoy your day, where ever you are. Please come out a with new studio album and do a new tour. I think a Bowie comeback to music is appropriate and the world is ready for you to return!

On March of 1997, we lost one of the most famous hip hop artists in the world, Notorious B.I.G., due to a brutal murder. Biggie was shot while riding in the car with his other rapper friends. The murders were never solved, and Biggie’s killers are still out there. Today it was announced that the Notorious BIG case was reinvigorated, due to new leads which law enforcement are keeping top secret for now.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Suge Knight, was behind the murders of Tupac and Biggie. No matter how long ago crimes were committed, you can’t get away with it. Law enforcement don’t forget these things.
Lets hope the killers are caught soon. Like they’re getting close to it now.

Famed R&B singer, revealed to the whole world that she is up to pose nude for Playboy, yes, show tits and ass, all of it. She revealed the news on her twitter page. It doesn’t surprise me. I mean, look at all scantily clad bikini pictures she’s already put out over the years. Is the world ready to see a 43 year old MILF, in the nude? Would this hurt her career or make it better?
This might hurt her young fans, fans that are in their teens or younger because I’m pretty sure there’s going to be angry parents who won’t let their kids buy her albums only because she did Playboy. I think the only reason Toni wants to do this ’cause no one knows who Toni Braxton is anymore. She was a big star in the 90’s when her “Secrets” album came out, but she is just another one hit wonder artist. I think she wants to do Playboy hoping to get recognized again, an attention seeking thing.
Not many female singers pose naked. Madonna may have posed naked a lot for the media but that’s because she’s allowed to. The public accepted Madonna to pose nude for the public because Madonna has always been seen as this sexual pop star. Toni Braxton is not like Madonna at all.
I like Toni, I’m not knocking her, but I think her doing Playboy is a bad idea. I’m sure you agree. Most female artists don’t pose naked for the public for a reason, because simply put, it’s a bad career move. Madonna did it in her younger years, because she can.

You’d think Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle or Katy Perry would top the best selling album of 2010, right? Wrong! This year, rapper Eminem, takes the no. 1 spot as biggest selling album of the year.
Katy Perry did make no. 1 for top selling single for her hit “California Gurls” with Snoop Dogg.

Congrats Eminem. This is pretty shocking, I’m pretty happy for him. Glad he’s back at the top of his game, and making good music again. “Recovery” is an excellent album and I’ve been saying that for a long time.

This song titled, “Fuck You” by rapper Cee Lo Green is creating a lot of internet buzz this week. This video has been floating around facebook so I decided to post it here too. I’m not into this type of music much, but I actually love this song. It’s very well written. The lyrics are perfect, the vocals and harmony are fantastic. Plus, most importantly, the song relates to a lot of people. The song is very true and very honest.
If you listen to the lyrics, it’s just a simple song about dating gone bad. Men who date women that wants more money, aka gold diggers. A lot of men goes through these experiences in life, even me.
Thanks Cee Lo for writing a song that is so real and inspiring! A catchy song too, I might even get his new album from Itunes.

In an interview with US Magazine, Ozzy Osbourne was asked, what career advice he would have for the current stars out there. Ozzy immediately had an answer for that and decides to slam Lady Gaga. The new superstar, Lady Gaga who just released two albums, “The Fame”, and “The Fame Monster”. She is also widely known for her crazy and very expensive fashion for her concerts. She not only wears that stuff at her concerts, she even wears crazy fashion everywhere she goes. Ozzy accused her of being too overexposed and need to take a break for a while. He admits he’s pretty sick of her and annoyed of the clothes she wears.

Lady Gaga, too over exposed? LOL! Ozzy shouldn’t be talking when he is way more overexposed than her. Ozzy have never even taken a break from music ever since he started with Black Sabbath in the 70’s. Also, Ozzy has his share of being a fashion nut too. Ozzy keeps coming out with a new album after album, with a different guitarist and also to add to that, “The Osbournes” TV show which made his entire family famous. So Lady Gaga, too overexposed and Ozzy isn’t? Ozzy’s been around for years, he already destroyed his career by doing “The Osbournes” TV show.
Gaga is more successful than Ozzy these days, so I think Ozzy is clearly nothing but jealous of her. 🙂

Nobody ever thought a Nirvana reunion would ever happen, but it did just earlier this week. Dave Grohl decided to give Nirvana/Foo Fighter fans a gift by reuniting the surviving members of Nirvana at a secret Foo Fighters show in Los Angeles. Yes, Krist Novoselic was there to play bass, and the former Nirvana touring guitarist, Pat Smear, was there to play guitar, while Dave Grohl played the drums and sang.
The Foo Fighters were mainly there to perform songs from their upcoming new album they’re recording with legendary producer, Butch Vig, but the reunited Nirvana did perform one Nirvana song which is “Marigold”, a b-side from the “In Utero” sessions. Nirvana didn’t play any of their big hits or anything like that.

Is this a tease that Dave plans on reuniting Nirvana full time for a tour, so the band can play all their big hits? Who knows, maybe that will happen. Of course, it isn’t really a real Nirvana reunion without Kurt Cobain. I think everyone knows that. It’s a good thing Dave did this, ’cause I’m sure that is what Kurt would have wanted.
The band played, “Marigold”, because that was the only Nirvana song which Dave Grohl sang the lead vocals on, and not Kurt.
Here’s hoping for more Nirvana shows if Dave and Krist agrees with it!

So I finally finished reading Keith Richards new autobiography, “Life”. It’s not just a book about the Rolling Stones. It’s way more than that. It’s really about the life of Keith Richards. Yes, he really opens up about everything. He explained what his childhood was like and the book went all the way up to today. Just like most rock musician biographies, it focuses a lot on music, drugs & women. Keith Richards new book is different than other rock musician biographies. He goes into detail in everything. He discusses how he got into music and what made him want to pick up the guitar. He also explains how he got into rock n’ roll and old blues music. He taught us how he came up with his famous open tunings on 5 strings. Most of it, he talked about drug addiction and the career of the Rolling Stones. He talked about his brief feud with Mick Jagger. Yes, he and Mick Jagger had a fallen out which the Rolling Stones almost came close to breaking up. Mick went on to start his own solo career without the band’s knowledgement and that’s how the feud all started. So Keith started his own solo project as for payback with Mick.
Only thing I was disappointed in that Keith didn’t talk much about his career in movies in Hollywood. He didn’t talk much about his cameo in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”. I was hoping he would go into insight about that. How he met Johnny Depp and was wondering how him and Keith got along. He only talked very little about the “Pirates” movie. His film career was only like one or two pages long and you’ll read that at the very end of the book. The only reason he wrote about his film career briefly is so he can clear up the nasty rumors about him snorting his own father’s ashes, which isn’t true of course.
Other than that, this was an excellent read. I liked the behind the scene stuff that we all didn’t know about the Rolling Stones. You don’t have to be a fan of music or a fan of the Rolling Stones to read this book, you’ll be intrigued by his stories. He’s probably the best music storyteller of them all.
What other famous musicians who I would like to see write an autobiography who haven’t written one yet? I can think of 5 at the top of my head: 1) Jimmy Page 2) David Bowie 3) Trey Anastasio of Phish 4) Joe Satriani 5) James Hetfield of Metallica.
