Report: Mason Jennings releases new album, but this one is rock n’ roll, not an acoustic one???

Pretty much all of Mason Jennings records are slow, acoustic folk type of stuff. Well, he’s got a new album out called, “Blood of Man” which is his 8th studio album.

In this album, Mason rocked it up some more by making it a rock n’ roll record more than his usual acoustic music. He is still signed on to Jack Johnson’s record label, Brushfire Records, but when Mason submitted “Blood of Man” to the label, he was worried that the album was going to get rejected. The reason? Brushfire records is mostly a label that’s for mellow and slow type of stuff, it’s not really for rock records. Turns out the people at, Brushfire Records, loved Mason’s new album and confirmed it for release.

Mason also plans to tour in support of the new album. He will record these shows live but there are no plans for a Mason Jennings live album at this point.

Mason is one of my favorite singer/songwriters, I love the guy’s music. I hope he comes around here in the Albany area when he tours ’cause I would go see him if he does!

Looking forward to getting his new record! I listened to clips of it and there is electric guitar on it!

Now that I think of it, I’ll be able to collect the rest of his older albums from Itunes store which I will do soon.

Listen to Mason’s new song “Ain’t No Friend of Mine” with some rockin’ electric guitar in the video below!

“High School the Musical” director Adam Shankman, is set to bring us “Rock of Ages” broadway musical to the big screen. “Rock of Ages” is a broadway musical play that focused mostly on 80’s rock music. The musical starred former American Idol star, Constantine Maroulis.

Variety Reports:

See the Rock of Ages official Broadway site here:

No casting announcement for the film version yet, but I’m willing to bet they will sign Constantine Maroulis for the film version too. I don’t see anybody else playing the Drew character other than Constantine.

Report: Beatles Rock Band doesn’t sell well…I’m not surprised by this!

Well, you’ve seen the game has been way overhyped before it’s release. You’ve seen this game advertised all over video game stores and on the internet. Guess what? The game is not such a huge seller after all.

Click here to read more on how much the game sold since it’s release:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/lifestyle/2009-10-19-beatles-game-sales_N.htm

Ouch! I don’t find this a surprise. Why? I think it’s because people are sick of the Beatles and they are way past their time. I like some Beatles songs but not that big of a die hard.

I once said on Twitter I actually tried Beatles Rock Band on a demo at the video game store at the mall. I thought it was kind of cool actually, but it would be nothing I would buy since the guitar and the game for both is way overpriced.

Report: Ever wonder about Neil Young’s live gear setup? Here are the details…

Most famous rock n’ roll bands use a lot of very expensive, fancy gadgets, and impressive equipment when playing live on stage. Stuff like 4 or 5 Full stack of Marshall amps, loads of pedalboards, and like 20 different guitars on stage.

Not with Neil Young. Neil keeps his live setup small and simple. Simply by using a few beat up vintage amps, and he doesn’t use too many guitars on stage.

Neil uses the same gear throughout his gigs and uses the same guitar throughout his performance. His no. 1 rule when playing, he always thought it was better to not change anything at concerts.

Bands like to switch guitars on stage and use different sounds, but Neil likes to keep everything the same.

Report: Garth Brooks is coming back to the country music industry, I lost count how many times he came out of retirement…

Country music superstar and legend, Garth Brooks is coming back to the music industry full time, with a possible new album and world tour to follow it. I had a feeling this was possible that he could be coming back since he’s been making occasional live performances and appearances here and there. For example, his latest live performance, he played a show at Barack Obama’s “We Are One”, concert Inaugural celebration. Garth still has the superstardom he always had and the talent he always had, he is coming back to let the world know that he still has it.

I actually like Garth’s music. Kind of glad he is coming back. Hope he makes a rocking new album and not that slow country shit. I’m sure he won’t dissapoint his comeback. Either stay with us or leave us, Garth, make up your mind. Stop being such an attention whore with your “farewell” tours and goodbye announcements like you’ve done so many times!

Report: Kiss is no longer a Billboard hit, Michael Buble steals the legendary band’s spotlight…

Kiss’s new album, “Sonic Boom” couldn’t even make no. 1 in the Billboard. Instead, a new singer/songwriter that is unknown steal the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer hopefuls spotlight. That is Michael Buble.

Kiss only sold 108,000 copies of “Sonic Boom”, while Buble sold 132,000.

108,000 copies of “Sonic Boom” is not really that great if you think about it. So that’s further proof that not many people out there care for Kiss anymore. I like Kiss but only with Ace Frehley. I don’t like Kiss with other guitarists.

Brock’s recent album purchases from Itunes today…

So I went to Best Buy and picked up an Itunes card to purchase albums from Itunes that I wanted.

Here’s the albums that I purchased for my Ipod today:

  • Lunic “Skeletons”
  • Lunic “Splinter”
  • Sean Rowe “Magic”
  • Twisted Sister “Stay Hungry 25th Anniversary”
  • Bob Dylan – “Christmas In the Heart”
  • Nirvana “Reading Festival” (pre-ordered, will have it on my Ipod on Nov. 3rd when it’s released)

I listened to clips of Dylan’s new Christmas album and really quite liked it a lot.

The Nirvana “Reading Festival” album will start downloading automattically on release date since it’s pre-ordered so I don’t have it yet.

I now have all three of Lunic’s albums and will be buying anything new that Lunic comes out with in the future.

Report: Amy Winehouse, finally working on new album, hopes to release next year in 2010!!! Yeah!!!

Yes, FINALLY! Amy Winehouse is finally working on new music. The follow up to her 2006 album “Back to Black” has already been recorded as a demo. Her label’s boss heard a few songs and they really floored him.

Amy hasn’t released a new album since 2006 due to struggling with her personal life.

More on it here:

It’s about time she’s in the studio again. Looking forward to hearing new songs and getting her new album. I’ve always took her music seriously.

Not A Cool Video: Harry Connick Jr., is he the one being the racist? Not the Jackson Jive? I think so…

Man, what a fuckin’ asshole this guy is. I don’t find this offensive. I thought it was a cool little tribute to the Jackson 5. Looks to me the only racist here, is no one other than Harry Connick Jr. himself.

Here’s the video segment of this controversy from the Australian show, “Hey Hey It’s Saturday”, which is pretty similar to the Gong Show.

Harry is an idiot.

Since the split with Noel Gallagher from Oasis, there was speculation whether Oasis was going to replace him and continue on as the Oasis name, or if Oasis breaks up. Liam confirms, Oasis is done. Which is no surprise. Without Noel, it can’t be Oasis. How can it be? The band is nothing without Noel.

Liam has plans to go solo as well. Both Noel and Liam are going solo.
