Report: Guns N’ Roses sued for copyright infrigement, does this make Axl a hypocrite?

Two indie rock labels has sued Guns N’ Roses for $1 million, accusing Axl Rose for copyright infrigement. Guns N’ Rose and their label Universal Music Group are being sued for copying songs by a German musician named,  Ulrich Schnauss. The Guns N’ Roses song, “Riad N’ Bedouins”, which is on their newest record, “Chinese Democracy” were taken from two of Ulrich Schnauss’s songs titled, “Where Ever You Are”, and a “Strangely Isolated Place”.

If Axl takes copyright infrigement so seriously, which he busted Kevin Cogill for uploading 9 songs from the “Democracy” album to his blog, and now Axl is being accused of copyright infrigement, something is wrong with this picture.

BREAKING NEWS: MJ was healthy before death…

Even I’m shocked at the results of MJ’s autopsy which was released to the public today. People were speculating that Jackson died of drugs, assuming his body was loaded with pills and other drugs, turns out, the autopsy found no evidence of him using other drugs other than propofol. He was pretty much clean. Jackson’s health was perfectly normal…except his lungs were kind of messed up but that wasn’t the cause of his death.

The Associated Press reports:

That’s amazing. Jackson did seem very healthy, judging by the looks of him with the “This Is It” footage.

Drew Barrymore’s “Whip It” is a good opportunity for the sport of Rollerderby…

The sport of Roller Derby is not that popular in America. It is a sport, but it’s not that mainstream of a sport yet. Drew Barrymore’s new film, “Whip It”, which is a film about Roller Derby is a good opportunity for that sport. I think the film will help get the sport recognized more.

The Roller Derby is wicked cool and an underrated sport.

There is Roller Derby games in the Albany area, believe it or not…the Albany All Stars RollerDerby is what I’m sure you’ve heard of…

http://www.albanyallstars.com/

It’s a pretty physical sport for women, basically a women only kind of sport. I have never seen Roller Derby before but I would like to see some Roller Derby bouts in Albany to see what’s it like.

Speaking of the Albany Roller Derby, check out, Flexi Wheeler of the team the Hellions:

She’s a local bodybuilder who has quite an impressive physique. If she can be successful at bodybuilding, anybody can do it here.

Brock’s Top Ten Live Albums of All Time…

I like listening to music live in concert a lot more than studio albums because with live music, it feels real. Songs sound different at every show, different improvising skills, they play the songs much longer live than in the studio, tighter guitar playing, etc. Most people don’t like to listen to live albums but like to listen to studio more. I like the other way around.

Brock’s Top Ten Favorite Live Music Albums are here, with no explanations, I just love these records:

  1. Led Zeppelin – “How the West Was Won”
  2. Jimi Hendrix – “Live a the Filmore East” (2 disc set)
  3. Johnny Cash – “Live at Folsom Prison”
  4. Eric Clapton – “MTV Unplugged”
  5. David Bowie – “Bowie at the Beeb”
  6. The Clash – “Live at Shea Stadium”
  7. Metallica – “S&M”
  8. Lou Reed – “Perfect Night – Live In London”
  9. Nirvana – “MTV Unplugged In New York”
  10.  The Grateful Dead – “Dozing At the Knick”

Thought: LL Cool J in the Hall of Fame, wtf? How did he get a nomination? Well here’s your answer…

The internet is of course, pissed off, ’cause the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gave another rap artist a nomination when it is not rock. Yes, it’s true, rap isn’t really rock…but how do these rap artists like Run DMC and LL Cool J are making the Hall of Fame?

First read this:

http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process/

Then read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LL_Cool_J

So how does LL Cool J get a nomination?

Well according to his wikipedia history, LL Cool was a disc jockey when he first started out in his career.

Reading the induction process on how they nominate artists, they also nominate “disc jockeys”.

So any rap artist that is a disc jockey and if they have a first hit single for 25 years, they are eligible for a nomination.

I guess that’s how Run-DMC made it in ’cause they were disc jockeys too.

So before you start slamming the Hall of Fame because of the rap music being inducted, I’d suggest you do your research. This just shows that people are uneducated with music since they are angry at the Hall of Fame for having a variety of genres. Remember, all genres is the roots of rock n’ roll.

Report: Live Nation says Marilyn Manson doesn’t have Swine Flu…

Marilyn Manson announced on his official Facebook page saying that he has Swine flu. Turns out that Live Nation says he’s full of shit and doesn’t actually have the spreading pig disease.

I knew Manson was full of shit too. The guy’s an attention whore. Anybody that took this seriously and think he really had it is probably just as crazy as him.

Report: Jackson Browne vs. John McCain feud is settled, Replubican party admits they were wrong and offered apology to singer…

The Jackson Browne vs. John McCain feud is over with. Last year during the President election, the McCain campaign used “Running On Empty” without Browne’s permission. Browne filed lawsuit against McCain and the Republican party. They admitted they were wrong,  they apologized to Jackson Browne, and promised they will never use any of his songs in the future.

Respecting copyright is very important in the music industry. Music fans may not fully understand copyright yet, but even greedy politicians don’t even understand it.

If you own your music and if someone uses it without permission, you have the right to control it how you wish.

Report: Genesis getting ready for Hall of Fame nomination voting, also, will Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins reunite?

Although Phil Collins isn’t able to drum anymore, there might be a possibility that Phil Collins and original frontman of Genesis, Peter Gabriel, might reunite at the Rock Hall of Fame, if the band gets inducted.

The band is already preparing for the nomination voting by releasing box sets of live material. Phil announced he has back problems and claims he isn’t able to drum anymore, so he was forced to give it up, but who knows, maybe he will drum at the Hall of Fame if he still has it?

The band is excited and they hope it happens.

From Billboard:

I’m sure they’ll make it in and get inducted, they deserve it. Genesis has always been great.

Pearl Jam’s “Backspacer” is their best album since “Ten”…

I also listened to Pearl Jam’s new record, “Backspacer” on my Ipod at the gym today as well. I also loved this album. Most of it’s fast and upbeat rock n’ roll all the way through, except there’s a few slow and mellow acoustic songs, and I even liked their slow songs on the disc.

Some are comparing this album to be more toward the “Ten” direction, but I disagree, I hear a lot of “Vs.” and “Vitalogy” in it.

Eddie is always a great singer, but what impressed me the most is the band playing their instruments. Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament all played extremely tight on the record. The sound is big, fat, and unique.

“Ten” will always be the best record they’ve ever done, but “Backspacer” is close behind it. Now I see why this album lands high in the Billboard even if this record doesn’t have a label. It was self released by the band themselves, they paid with their own money to get this album released.

It was a very good album. I enjoyed it, and you should check it out too.

Lunic’s “Love Thief” is the best local album I’ve ever heard in years!!!

I’ve heard a lot of local albums over the years. I’ve been a part of local music for a long long long time. Ever since the early 90’s, I’ve started checking out local bands, going to shows and buying albums off of bands, all that stuff. I’ve been doing that since then.

I’ve heard so many good local music albums over the years but honestly, Lunic’s “Love Thief” wipes them all away.

I bought and downloaded the album for my Ipod, and listened to it while I was working out at the gym today. The songwriting on the disc is probably the most powerful and the most emotional music I ever heard. It really is amazing stuff. Katie Paige is a great singer and listening to that violin in these songs is what did it. The rest of the band plays well.

I’ve supported a lot of local acts but really haven’t been much of a die hard fan of any local bands from the past until Lunic came around. I’m now a die hard fan of them.

I want to go out and see a show of Lunic’s so I can hear them live and meet the band. After hearing this album, they won’t be local for long I’m sure, they’ll move on quick to get signed to a record label ’cause they deserve a record deal more than any other band in this area.

Lunic is so different than any band around here, which is what I love about them. This is the best local band I’ve seen around in a long time. They take their music seriously and they are profesional.

Why aren’t other bands like them? Most bands around here are a bunch of three chorders rock bands that do nothing but get drunk and wasted at bar room gigs.

I don’t want Lunic to stay around here in the Capital District for long, I would love to see them move to an area where they can get a record contract. They certainly won’t get signed here so hope they move to L.A. or New York soon. Lunic is an amazing band. Love them.
