Report: Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood to work together for the second time in the “Hereafter”…

Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood already worked together for the film, “Invictus” which is set for a theaterical release date on, Dec. 11th.

Clint recruited Matt Damon again to star in a thriller titled, “Hereafter”. The plot and synopsis is being kept underwraps for now. Clint and the crew will start filming “Hereafter” right away this fall. While they are keeping quiet on the plot, they compare this film to the likes of, “The Sixth Sense”. Hope this isn’t another film about seeing dead people?

Will Clint have a starring role to be onscreen with Matt in “Hereafter”? Could that be why they are keeping the plot secret for now?

Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino” is now out on DVD!!!! WOOT!!!

Clint Eastwood’s latest film “Gran Torino” is finally out on DVD. Hell yes!!! This film is awesome! Clint returns to the leading role after all these years. He plays a racist old man who has a hatred against asians and black people. He has a hot classic car called, Gran Torino. He becomes friends with a young asian girl next door by saving her from other gang members in town. Clint’s character is being attacked by gang members while he forces this young asian boy to do work around his house for trying to steal his Gran Torino car.

This film is reccomended to those who never got to see it in theater. Clint is still a badass even at 80 years old!!!! I think I’m going to take a bike trip up to Kmart to pick up the DVD this afternoon so I can watch it tonight!!!

Thought: Why were “The Dark Knight”, Springsteen, Cyrus, and Eastwood snubbed from the Oscars?

Many shocking Oscar snubs that I’m sure dissapointed many movie fans. “The Dark Knight” was snubbed from the Best Picture Win, they also didn’t get anything for Best Director, Actor/actress, Screenplay, etc.

Clint Eastwood didn’t even get nominated for “Best Actor” in “Gran Torino” or “Best Director” for “Changeling/Gran Torino”. No Clint at the Oscars at all this year? WOW!!!!! SHOCKING!!!! Eastwood usually is at the Oscars every year. I’m sure he’ll still be there in person to enjoy the show though and maybe even present an award although he won’t be winning anything.

Springsteen didn’t even get nominated for his song “The Wrestler”, so I feel bad for the boss of Rock n’ Roll. Oh well, I’m sure he won’t care. I’m sure he’ll think his Golden Globe win, The Superbowl Halftime performance, him performing for Barack Obama at the Inaugural Celebration “We Are One”, and his new album with “Workin’ On a Dream” is good enough for him. I’m sure Springsteen feels bad about the Oscar snub, but hey, life goes on. He’s got better opportunities coming up ahead of him like the Superbowl performance.

The thing with the Academy, that there is so many great films that came out in the year 2008 that they can’t nominate everything, so that’s why the Academy members have to vote on the best work, to see which one is worthy enough. They don’t care about the mainstream popularity of the film or not, they’ll nominate films for the quality of the work. Not caring what the public thinks. It all depends on the voting with the members of the Academy, that’s how they do it with the voting ballots. It’s all about their opinion, they don’t care about the public’s opinion of what we think should be nominated.

As for Eastwood getting snubbed, there is always next time for him to try to star in a movie he directs where he can get Oscar nominated for Best Actor again, there’s always another time for him. He’s won two Best Directors in the past, so hopefully Eastwood will at least win one Best Actor award before he gets too old and his time is out if you know what I mean.

Tom Cruise was also snubbed a nomination for his role as Les Grossman for “Tropic Thunder” so that’s another shocker. As for Miley Cyrus, who cares, I’m sick of Miley.

As for the Academy ignoring the “Dark Knight”, it was a nice try for a comic book superhero movie to get nominated for the first time, it was that close. One day there will be a superhero movie that will land in the Oscars, maybe not the “Dark Knight” but maybe another superhero flick in the future. “The Dark Knight” did get an impressive 8 bids for the Best Pic nomination, so the film came this close. Unfortunately, the other films nominated were more popular than “The Dark Knight”.

Thought: If Clint Eastwood gets nominated for “Best Actor”, then this is bad news for Mickey Rourke…

We all know that Mickey Rourke will definitely get nominated for “Best Leading Actor” for his movie “The Wrestler”, but what if Clint Eastwood gets nominated for his role as Walt Kowalksi in “Gran Torino” for the “Best Leading Actor” category?

If Eastwood does get the actor category for “Gran Torino”, then Rourke is screwed. Eastwood won two Oscars for “Best Director” in the past but he never won anything for “Best Actor” yet, could this year finally be Eastwood’s chance? If Eastwood’s in the nomination, then I don’t see Rourke winning at all.

Eastwood’s role in “Gran Torino” is Oscar worthy enough, I’ll tell you that right now.

Film Review: Gran Torino

Starring: Clint Eastwood, Geraldine Hughes, Bee Vang

Directed by: Clint Eastwood

I have just seen the movie “Gran Torino” this afternoon and here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: Clint Eastwood plays an old man named Walt Kowalski, who is a Korean War veteran whose wife just died. Walt is left alone except the only friend he has for now is his white dog. He is a grumpy old man who doesn’t like other people that is not white, knowing from his own experiences of the Korean War of his past.

Kowalski lives next door with a Korean family, he didn’t like them at first but a young boy who lives with that family Thao, who has a cousin that is in a gang is being bullied by his cousin’s gang. The gang tries to force Thao into stealing Kowalski’s classic car which is a Gran Torino which Kowalski never drives.

This is what made Kowalski tried to save Thao and his family ’cause they were being bullied and harassed. Later in the film, Walt Kowalski becomes friends with Thao and his family members which are all Korean people. Thao and his family are being hurt by these gang members in the town while Kowalski draws himself into saving their lives. Kowalski becomes a town hero for it because he is capable of fighting off gangs in the town when they are the most dangerous and violent people.

My thoughts on the movie? I thought it was real good. Nothing amazing or excellent, but it was a pretty intense film, mixed with comedy and suspense. It was an unpredictable story that kept you at the edge of your seat the entire time.

After 4 years of not being on screen as an actor, Clint Eastwood still has the acting skills. He was very good in this and he played the old man perfectly. I can completely understand why everyone would think this is a Dirty Harry movie when it isn’t, ’cause the movie is very Dirty Harry like. Very close, I would say!!!

“Gran Torino” was very enjoyable. It’s not one of his best movies, he’s made better movies in his past, but “Gran Torino” is definitely worth seeing in theater though. To be honest, I still find “Changeling” to be better than this.

It’s still great to see Clint back on the screen and not behind it again though. I hope he doesn’t give up the acting for good, I want him to give us one more Dirty Harry film!!! A film like this proves that he has the ability to bring Harry Calahan back. In “Gran Torino” the movie is very dark, pretty much a revenge story.

My top ten Clint Eastwood films whether he’s either acting/directing are here:

1. Mystic River

2. Changeling

3. True Crime

4. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

5. Escape from Alcatraz

6. Dirty Harry

7. Unforgiven

8. High Plains Drifter

9. Million Dollar Baby

10. Gran Torino

Score for “Gran Torino” = *** (3 stars as in good)

Report: Eastwood NOT ready to give up acting yet!!!

Clint Eastwood is an actor/film director who is always known for either starring in a film he’s directed or not starring in it at all. The reason Eastwood is still acting is because he is not giving it up. The man says so himself.

More on it here:

Come on Clint!!! Give Harry Calahan one more film!! We know you can do it!!
