I am reading articles online about the “Hounddog” movie as explained below about a 12 year old girl being raped and being in an abusive family back in the 50’s. Sources are complaining about that the movie shouldn’t be shown in theaters and people are on a protest on the film trying to talk people into not seeing it.
Why do people find this a surprise that this a film about a child film that is sexual? This isn’t the first time that Hollywood has made movies like this.
Hello, remember the movie Stanley Kubrick’s “Lolita”? That film is about a middle aged man falling in love with a 14 year old girl. And another movie called “Birth” that stars Nicole Kidman which is about a little boy who pretends to be her dead husband, and Nicole’s character begin to have a romantic relationship with that little boy, Nicole’s character takes a bath with him and everything. There is even a brief make out scene with Nicole and that little boy in the film too.
The thing with “Hounddog” is nothing new in Hollywood. There are plenty of films like this. The fact is, as long as there is no underage nudity and no child porn in these films, that is why it is legal for Hollywood to make these kind of movies.
The movie “Hounddog” was directed and written by a female film maker, maybe she was raped as a young child herself and she wanted to make a film on her experience to show the world what it’s like what a child experiences during that horrible time.
If “Law and Order: SVU” can do stuff like this, then why can’t Hollywood? It’s only fiction. I think people just take things too seriously. My advice, if you don’t like the content of the film or a TV show, IGNORE IT and DON’T WATCH! Simple? Yes.
Another thing to think about, if these child actors are willing to star in movies like this, it’s obvious their parents are cool with it and have no problem as long as it’s in their guidance. I think the reason Dakota Fanning signed on to a movie like this, because she mostly played in family oriented films, she did this movie ’cause she wanted to show a darker side of Dakota Fanning.
The only reason “Houndog” is making news headlines ’cause it was shown in Sundance last year and now it’s playing in selective theaters. What they going to try next ban the DVD release of the film too? It is only a movie. Period.
