Happy birthday to David Bowie, Robby Krieger and Elvis Presley!!!

Today, 3 big icons of rock share a birthday, and they are obviously David Bowie, Robby Krieger (guitarist of the Doors), and Elvis Presley. I’m a huge fan of all of these guys.

Yes, I wanna start covering some Doors songs and Elvis songs for youtube as well. Will get around to it.

I wanted to post videos and pictures of all these guys but that’ll be a lot of work so I’ll just do a quick post.

Happy birthday to all three of them! Both David and Robby must be thrilled to share a birthday with Elvis.

Cool Video: I just love the new Arcade Fire song, “Reflektor”…

The new song Arcade Fire “Reflektor” is pretty intense. I don’t give new music positive feedback too much but the new song by Arcade Fire here is pretty incredible. I can’t stop listening to it. Gives me goosebumps every time. The song has a 70’s disco feeling to it. This song is different than their earlier albums.

I am noticing that David Bowie does some backup vocals toward the end of this song. You’ll notice Bowie’s voice immediately. Bowie himself even makes a cameo in this video as one of them weird masked people… you can see him at 5:30. That’s Bowie standing next to a coffin with that weird masked girl. Not sure if the man wearing the Bowie mask is really Bowie himself but that’s definitely Bowie’s mask. It’s just letting you know that he has special guested in this song.

I love Arcade Fire. I have their previous albums and I can’t wait for their new one. Glad they’re back finally!

Cool Video: David Bowie’s “The Next Day”…

David Bowie released the official video to his next single, “The Next Day”, which is also the title track for his new album. It was reported that Christians and other religious people were offended by the material in the video ’cause the song seems to have a negative message toward religion.  If you knew David Bowie’s career as well as I do, you would realize that Bowie is no stranger to controversial songs and videos. Bowie has always been the type of guy that he will send a message through a song whether people liked it or not. He still has that attitude to this day. The video to this song maybe dark and controversial but whatever it takes for David to send a message. Seems like David is trying to tell a story to this song.

I’m sure David is being unfairly accused of being hateful against religion or being a supporter of Satan, but I’m sure that’s not his intention with this song. I’m not sure what message David is trying to send but whatever he’s doing here, he’s just being artistic like he usually is. The man is an artist; not just a musician, also kind of like a painter or a visualist. He is just trying to depict things of what goes on in his mind. The man is very creative.

I like the video and the song too, by the way. I don’t find it offensive at all. How about that Marion Cotillard, hey? Ain’t she lookin’ pretty hot in this video or what? I would say so. Even though Gary Oldman had a few lines to say in this video, his acting is gold like always.

In Bowie’s defense, you just never know what to expect from the man. He has always been unpredictable like this. You just never know what the man will come up with next.

Will Bowie go on tour in support for, “The Next Day”??? So far, it’s looking pretty unlikely…

It has been a couple of weeks already since the release of Bowie’s new album, “The Next Day”, which is a phenomenal record by the way, and so far, the man has never confirmed a tour yet. Will he go on a short tour or even play a one off show in support of the new album? Pretty unlikely, sadly. He may not be retired from making new music, but it’s looking like he is done with touring for good.

I think Bowie came back after a long 10 year wait is because he came back by popular demand. If it wasn’t for fans begging him to return, then he wouldn’t have came at all, I’m sure. He came back with a new record to keep his longtime fans happy. I bet he didn’t think people still love him to this day and he thought wrong. That’s why he came back, ’cause he realized that he still had the popularity.

I wish Bowie would do a one off show for a possible live album/DVD release. Maybe he does have plans in doing that? Ya never know. We’ll have to wait to see what happens. I think he’s still capable of performing live again just fine. It’s just that the man puts his family first which is commendable. He came out with a new album because music is his life and he just can’t give it up. At least, he’s still making music, though. That makes me happy!

I finally picked up Bowie’s “The Next Day” on CD yesterday, along with Orianthi’s new album.

My favorite song off the new Bowie album, so far…

Like I said before, the new Bowie album is a celebration of his career. The new album covers all styles of music that he has done in the past like rock, pop, dance, techno/electronica, etc. Everything’s on there. It feels like a greatest hits album almost, but with new original music, instead. It is a pretty strong album, and I’m feeling that this is going to be the best album of 2013. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’ll be buying the CD ’cause I want the cover art and all that stuff. I’m not gonna buy it off of Itunes.

This is a pretty sick song below. This song kinda goes back to his glitter rock days. I love Bowie’s vocals, he sounds angry throughout. Yeah, I’m a Bowie fanatic. Loved his music for years.

David Bowie’s “The Next Day” album review…

So David Bowie, is finally releasing his most anticipated album, “The Next Day” after a 10 year long wait for his return. David, agreed to let Itunes stream the new album for FREE. I gave the album a listen in Itunes today. When you take a long break from music, some people mistakenly believe musicians lose it with their musicianship and songwriting talent. Well, after giving this album a listen, David haven’t lost it at all. The man still has IT!

While David released his first single, “Where Are They Now”, fans worried that the album will be full of slow ballads. Turns out that most of the album is pretty rockin’! The album is full of guitar playing all the way through. There are only like two or three slow songs, but the slow songs are still really good. David’s guitar player, Earl Slick, has been playing guitars on David’s albums for years now. This album has Earl’s best playing, yet. This album also has David’s best singing. After listening to this album, I immediately thought that this album is a celebration of his music over the years in his career. The album has something for everyone on it. You want a tight rock n’ roll song that he had in the 70’s. You will hear a lot of that. You want to hear David’s dance & pop stuff (like he did with songs such as “Lets Dance”, “Golden Years”, etc.), there’s some of that on there as well. David still has that energy and intensity in his songs. It has an old school Bowie feeling.

After the long 10 year wait, David probably thought to himself… “My fans have waited too long, I better give them a rock album, something they’ve always wanted to hear”. This album is clearly for the fans who missed him during those 10 years. This album is David clearly saying to everyone, “I’m back and better than ever”.

I thought the album was absolutely amazing and incredible. It gave me goosebumps throughout. When I get my own copy of the album, I’m gonna be listening to it a lot. Welcome back, David, and please, don’t make us wait so long for your next record!

Cool Video: David Bowie releases another new song, “The Stars Are Out Tonight”…

Bowie just released this new song and I absolutely love it! It’s got that old school Bowie feeling, sounds kinda 80s’ like. I like the video too. As you can see Bowie did a little bit of acting in this video before the song even starts, and Bowie still has his acting chops as well!

I can’t wait for the new Bowie album. Can’t believe it. Two big albums I’m looking forward to in 2013. The new David Bowie record, and I’m also looking forward to the new Black Sabbath one as well.

Enjoy.

Just a few worries about David Bowie’s return…

While it’s great that Bowie is finally back, I do have a few worries about his return to music. Allow me to explain…

1st of all, he’s going to have get accepted in the music industry since he’s been gone for so long. The industry has changed ever since he’s been gone. The only people who support Bowie’s return are his die hards who have stayed loyal to him after all these years. Fans of today’s generation may have a tough time, knowing who Bowie is. I’m sure young fans today are familiar with his classic songs, but his new stuff, people won’t know about. I personally think, Bowie came back for the fans who begged him to return and he finally responded. Of course, I’m sure Bowie wants to make new fans too.

Secondly, I’m also a little worried about how his new album is going to sell. Will it be a hit record or will it be a failure? Will his new album be worth the 10 year wait?

Destiny’s Child and Justin Timberlake just announced their comeback to music today, and they just overshadowed Bowie’s comeback. That’s a perfect example of how the industry changed. Sad, but it is what it is.

Back to Bowie, honestly though, Bowie used to be big and mainstream back in the day, but I think he lost a lot of recognition during his hiatus. He’s got a lot of work to do to get it all back. It’s going to be tough for him with the way this industry is today. It’s going to be tough for him to become a best selling artist again. Could he do it with his new album? We’ll have to wait and see how it sells in the Billboard.

Again, it’s good news that Bowie is back, but I’m afraid people out there may not care anymore.

Report: Earl Slick, David Bowie’s longtime guitarist gives details on new album, but doesn’t give everything away…

This is a pretty cool interview, with Earl Slick, who is Bowie’s longtime guitarist and collaborator. Apparently, the two already started working on the album last year. Bowie, the man of mystery, just makes an album whenever he wants to. While Earl gives the details on Bowie’s return to music, he doesn’t give everything away of the kind of music that’s on the new album. While the new single, is a mellow song, Earl does however, hint that the rest of the album will be rock n’ roll.

Read the full interview, here.

I hope Bowie goes on tour or plays just a few shows too. I’m sure he will. I’m sure David misses performing for us and he’ll want to get out there again, somehow. It’ll be great to see Bowie perform the new songs on the album and of course, all of his classic songs from the 70’s and 80’s.

More on Bowie’s comeback…

While I’m happy that Bowie made his comeback official, some of you may ask, why did he wait for ten years to release an album? Some would say he wanted to spend more time with his family and get his health together. Those are probably part of it, but I think there’s a better reason why he waited this long. Maybe he wanted to take his time with the record? Maybe he was waiting for the right time for a comeback? Look like 2013, is the right year for a Bowie comeback.

While I do love Bowie’s new single that he just put out, I hope the rest of the album won’t be mellow. I hope some of the songs are going to be pretty rocky. Of course, you never know what to expect from Bowie’s albums. He’s always changing genres and styles. Who knows, maybe the new album will be mostly mellow songs, but I hope not.

He’s a pretty mysterious and weird guy, and those are the things that I admire about him.

I really hope he goes on tour. If he does, I doubt he’ll come to Albany, he’ll probably hit NYC first. If he does book an MSG show, I’ll do my best to go to it ’cause I’ve always wanted to see Bowie live.
