MTV VMA’s last night…

Last night, after watching 4 episodes of “Dr. Who” The 9th Doctor with Chris Eccleston, I’ve decided to catch the rest of the MTV VMA’s. I did catch a few live performances. I caught the Iggy and Rita Ora performance which was great. I caught Taylor Swift performing “Shake It Off” which was great. I also caught the ending… Beyonce’s performance and I wanted to talk about that a little bit…

I’ve noticed that Beyonce was onstage for quite a while. They gave her a lot of stage time than any other artists. Of course, when it comes to Beyonce, they have to bring in gossip and drama into it by bringing Jay Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy into things for more ratings and more attention. Of course, they were gonna have Beyonce and Jay-Z close out the show with a long boring performance. Yes, they did it to squash divorce rumors but that didn’t need to be a part of the show. The whole point about the VMA’s is about celebrating music, not their personal lives but of course, it’s MTV so what do you expect??? MTV was willing to let Beyonce squash divorce rumors with Jay-Z on TV ’cause they know the internet and social networking will be all over it.

If you wanna know what kind of bullshit that MTV was going to try to pull with the VMA’s last night, that was it. The Beyonce and Jay-Z thing. Typical MTV. Nothing to see here, move along. *sigh*

I’m tired of the industry shoving this couple in our faces. They are not the hottest couple in music… Johnny Cash and June Carter were.

Mainstream music today really is a joke… although I do like a few artists of today’s mainstream. Iggy is one of them and I like Lorde too.

I’m not a fan of Beyonce although her performance last night was funny to watch.

Congrats to the Flaming Lips, that’s awesome!

No matter what you think of the Flaming Lips, love ’em or hate ’em, they are one of the most hardest working bands around. The Flaming Lips broke the world record, performing 8 different concerts during a 24 hour period, beating rapper Jay-Z. I love the Flaming Lips, always have. Wayne Coyne is an excellent songwriter, and live performer. He may not have the greatest singing voice, but that’s what I like about him. I said it before, I like singers who don’t take their talent seriously and they just sing for the love of it. I wish I could see them live in concert myself.

More on the story, here.

Report: First, “The Karate Kid” remake…now Will Smith is moving forward with the “Annie” remake starring his daughter, Willow Smith…

Announced today, Overbrook Entertainment has teamed up with Sony Pictures to work with Will Smith and Jay-Z on bringing an “Annie” remake to the big screen. They have already signed, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett’s daughter, Willow Smith to play the leading role. In the 1982 original, Aileen Quinn, played the Annie role, it looks like Willow will be playing that role. Oliver Warbucks was played by the great, Albert Finney.

Read the full story at, Deadline.

So what we’re getting is an “Annie” version for blacks? There will be rap and R&B songs being sung throughout the film? That’s what it’s looking like.

What black actor will land the Oliver Warbucks role? It wouldn’t surprise me if Will Smith himself signs on that to that role. Wonder how they’re gonna do the B&O Bridge scene at the end of the movie? They will obviously change the “Annie” name of the leading character, to give it a black feeling.

I’m not trying to sound like a racist or anything but I don’t like this idea. “The Karate Kid” remake they did was actually a very good movie, but this one is going to suck. I used to be obsessed with the “Annie” movie when I was a kid. Used to watch it all the time. Do the black people really want an “Annie” remake? This might be popular with black children, but the adults I can’t see them getting into this.

Report: Jay-Z slams the “We Are the World” remake…

Rapper Jay-Z spoke out his thoughts on the Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, and Quincy Jones remake of “We Are the World 25th”. He says the original is untouchable and should have never been remade. He compares it to Michael Jackson’s other hit, “Thriller”. What he’s saying there is, “We Are the World” is like an anthem for Michael Jackson, kind of like, “Thriller”. Jay-Z also says it would have been better if they wrote an original song for Haiti instead of remaking a Michael Jackson tune.

I’m no fan of Jay-Z’s music but I’ll have to say, he has a point. I agree with him. I was honestly disgusted when they decided to remake it. It was obvious that Lionel wanted to give celebrities and other music stars an opportunity to sing on a Michael Jackson tune. The remake sucks hard and I’ll always stand by it. Even Jay-Z knows it sucks.

Report: Jay-Z set to headline Coachella this year and many other bands…

The reunited Soundgarden was rumoured to be headlining this year’s, Coachella festival, but looks like they didn’t get the gig. Jay-Z will be headlining the entire festival. Other acts include Them Crooked Vultures, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, Muse, Faith No More, MGMT, Devo, Les Claypool, and many more.

This year’s lineup is kind of dissapointing. Jay-Z? Why are all these rock festivals are all over this guy? I’m no Jay-Z fan and not a fan of rap that much.

I wonder if Soundgarden is going to play any festivals this year since they are coming back. Will Soundgarden headline the UK festival, Glastonbury? Who knows.

See the entire Coachella lineup here:

The only bands that would be worth watching there, in my opinion would be Them Crooked Vultures, Phoenix, Les Claypool, Faith No More and that is probably all. Seeing Faith No More would be incredible. I’ve been a Faith No More and Mike Patton fan for a long time.

I don’t like Vampire Weekend and don’t like MGMT. Devo is alright, but they were good back in the 80’s, don’t know how them has beens would sound like now.
