Look like Johnny Depp is going to be one busy man in Hollywood!

He is not only confirmed to star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, he is also set to return for “Pirates of the Carribean 4” to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow once more. He is also set to star in “The Lone Ranger” remake.

More blockbusters for Johnny. I thought Disney was done with the Pirates of the Carribean films? I thought wrong.

I loved the first Carribean movie, hated the second one, and didn’t even see the third one yet. I lost interest in the Carribean flicks. If the 4th one gets my attention enough, I might see it in theater depending on how good it looks. I’m not such a fan of those movies anymore.

How many more Depp/Burton films are we going to see? I like both of those guys, but come on, it seems that they can’t get enough of each other.

When will Tim Burton ever do an original film again?

Report: Billy Bob Thornton hints at retiring from Hollywood… and also shoots down playing Freddy Kreuger rumours…

Billy Bob Thornton who is 53 years old now has spoke out to MTV News that he maybe retiring from Hollywood movies. He’s done so much movies over the years that he’s getting tired of it that he is thinking about hanging it up. Not for good though. He explains he’ll still do a movie once in a while if they’ll call him first and if he needs the money. He also explains that he wants to get serious in his music career more than film. He also says he wants to direct a few more movies and write another screenplay before he’s done.

He also shot down the rumours of playing Freddy Krueger in the “Nightmare on Elm St.” remake.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

Well, there you have it folks. No Billy Bob for Freddy. Oh well.

It kind of sucks that Billy Bob is retiring this soon because he’s one of my favorite actors. If Sly Stallone, Jack Nicholson and Michael Douglas are still acting, you’re never too old to retire from hollywood.

Should Billy Bob do a sequel to “Sling Blade” by reprising his role as Karl Childers? I’d say bring it on. “Sling Blade” is a great movie and I would love a sequel if that’s one of Billy Bob’s plans before retiring.

Since Tom Cruise is no longer attached to “Edwin A. Salt”, sources say that film makers were in negotiations with Angelina Jolie to play the leading role. Rumours were swirling that she is no longer attached as well, but this article here confirms that she is signed to the role. The movie is now re-titled “Salt” due to a gender change of the leading character. The leading character was written as male, but now they changed it to female.

Hope they make her hot looking in this one. Look like another action thriller for Angie. I like her more in action thrillers than drama films.

Report: “Quantum of Solace” 007 to run 1 hr. and 40 minutes…plus famous catchphrase dropped from film…

There’s been over 20 James Bond flicks over the years and pretty much all of them have been 2 hours or more. Consider this to be the very first James Bond film in history to be the shortest film ever. It’s been confirmed that the new James Bond flick that stars Daniel Craig will run about 1 hr. and 40 minutes.

From the article:

“Of Note: Marc Forster revealed to Cinematical that the running time for Quantum of Solace is just over an hour and forty minutes, making it the shortest Bond film ever. Also, read on to find out why Forster won’t direct another one.”

More on it here:

Smart marketing plan! It is getting kind of old of every single Bond flick being so long and it’s about time for a change. 1 hr. and 40 minutes is pretty short.

And another “Quantum of Solace” note, this article states that the movie decided to stop it’s famous catchphrase “Bond…James Bond”.

More on it here:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/film-and-tv/news/weve-been-expecting-you-mr-er-new-bond-blockbuster-drops-the-catchphrases-936999.html

Good move dropping the catchphrase or bad mistake?

I think it’s a good move. It’s time to give James Bond a little more character and give him a different feel.

Looking forward to the movie as I will see it in theater. I hope it’s good.

Report: Akira Kurosawa’s “Rashomon” to get remade…

Los Angeles-based Harbor Light Entertainment and Tokyo-based Lotus have just greenlighted to get Akira Kurosawa’s film “Rashomon” remade. Harbor Light announced a remake of “Rashomon” way back in 2001 but have been fighting to get the remake greenlighted. Today they finally made the film a “go”.

Akira Kurosawa’s “Rashomon” is a Japanese movie made in 1950 that stars Toshiro Mifune who starred the leading role in many of Kurosawa movies. The story is a crime drama, about a family man who is murdered and his wife raped. There are 4 witnesses with each witness telling their side of the story.

The remake is aiming for an American version of the film.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117992608.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

I have seen “Rashomon” a few times before and it’s a very good flick.

I see the remake of the American version being more obscene, with more nudity and lots of profanity.

I won’t judge the remake this soon, but hope they make it a good one.
