Report: Yahoo! Users Top Rated Sci Fi films…

This is possibly the worst Top movies list I’ve ever seen online, check it out for yourself:

http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/collections/gallery/970/yahoo-users-toprated-scifi-films#photo0

Most of those films are not even science fiction flicks, there’s too many superhero movies on there that aren’t even science fiction films like “Iron Man” and “Spiderman”.

The only superhero movie that is true science fiction is the Superman movies, the Superman movies has always been known for science fiction. What’s even worse about this list is that there is not one Star Trek film in it.

Here’s what a real top 30 science fiction list should look like in my own opinion, my personal favorite sci fi flicks are here in no particular order:

Enemy Mine, John Carpenter’s “Starman”, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman: The Movie, Superman II, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, 2001: A Space Oddysey, Blade Runner, Planet of the Apes (original), David Lynch’s “Dune”, The Abyss, Metropolis, Stargate, The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2, Dark City, Alien, Aliens, Gattaca, The War of the Worlds (original), Pitch Black, Space Camp, Cocoon, Back to the Future, Back to the Future Part II, Apollo 13, K-Pax, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Now there’s your true science fiction top list. Those who don’t list any of those films is not a true fan of science fiction.

Report: Tom Cruise is now the main boss at United Artists studios since Paula Wagner departure…

Paula Wagner may no longer work for UA but that doesn’t mean Tom Cruise is out of the job. Tom Cruise is now the main manager/boss at United Artists film company that was runned by both Tom Cruise himself and Paula Wagner. United Artists is a film production company that is owned by MGM studios. Paula Wagner announced she is leaving the company and MGM studios has allowed Tom Cruise to take over the companies lead in his full control.

MGM is impressed with his work for the company and proud of his profesionalism.

I see Tom Cruise using that company to release all of his new movies with, and he’s already doing that with “Valkyrie”. He’s only working there to help save his movie career since Paramount no longer wants him.

Report: “Twilight” changes release date to Nov. 21st…

Are you looking forward to seeing the teen vampire flick “Twlight” so much that you think December 12th is so long to wait? Don’t fear! The film “Twilight” has just changed it’s release date to Nov. 21st of this year since the new Harry Potter film was pushed back.

The reason for the move is that they want fans of the book to get an opportunity to see the film earlier since it’s popularity of the book at Comic Con and “Breaking Dawn” being a best seller.

I haven’t started reading “Twilight” book yet but I will when I get on the plane to San Diego.

Looking forward to reading the book and seeing the movie both.

BREAKING NEWS: Mike Myers joins “Inglorious Bastards”!!!!!

Oh my! Another shocking casting addition to Quentin Tarantino’s WWII flick “Inglorious Bastards”! Yes, you heard that right! The Waynes World, Austin Powers and the Love Guru star, Mike Myers will star alongside Brad Pitt in “Bastards”.

Myers will play British General Ed Fenech, a military mastermind who’s mission to plot out a plan to destroy Nazis.

Variety Reports:

Myers going for something that is not a comedy film this time. Like Myers will have to speak an English accent and knowing how good he is at creating different voices when he speaks, I think that’s the reason alone Tarantino wanted him for the film.

This is an interesting cast so far.

Still no confirmation on Sly Stallone yet, but if anything, I’ll still see the movie in theater even if Sly isn’t in it or not ’cause I love Tarantino flicks.

Report: Bruce Campbell on Sam Raimi game for Evil Dead 4, “When he’s ready, I’m ready”!!!

Bruce Campbell have been saying for years that when Sam Raimi is ready to do another Evil Dead movie, Bruce will be welcome to do it no matter what happens. Sam Raimi is definitely planning another one and things are looking great with Evil Dead 4!!!! So look like another Evil Dead movie is definitely happening!

Bruce says there is no synopsis/plot and no script yet but they are already planning on an aging Ash trying to survive a bunch of demons that came from the book of the dead. Bruce says they plan not to use a younger sidekick. You know how everytime a sequel is made, the hero have a younger partner? Like Shia Labeouf in Indy 4 for example? That’s not gonna happen with the next Evil Dead film.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/08/14/evil-dead-4-wont-rely-on-younger-sidekick-says-bruce-campbell/

This is really good news. I’m so glad there is going to be another Evil Dead movie.

What should the plot be in the next Evil Dead movie? Will Ash be locked in S-mart trying to fight off the demons in the store to leave off from “Amy of Darkness? That be kind of cool.

But I think it be even better if Ash is finally at home resting from fighting all the demons, but somehow the recording of the demons spell ended up in Ash’s own home, Ash gets trapped in his own home trying to fight off demons. Ash using different weapons and coming up with creative ways to kill demons.

I’m pretty sure Sam and Bruce plans on making the next Evil Dead movie low budget style like the first 3, they’re not gonna use high tech CGI and stuff like Sam did with the Spiderman flicks. I remember Sam did say he wants to stay true to the earlier Evil Dead movies.

When another Evil Dead movie comes out, I’m sure it will be a major success in the box office, maybe not as successful as the Batman/Spiderman flicks but I’m sure Evil Dead 4 will be a hit. Evil Dead deserves one more movie to close out the series, the writers can find a way to end these demons for good so Ash can live with peace. Should Evil Dead 4 end with a happy ending where Ash survives or should he die? You just never know what Sam and Rob is gonna come up with.

Film Review: The Ruins

Starring: Jonathan Tucker, Shawn Ashmore, Joe Anderson, Jena Malone, and Laura Ramsey

Directed by: Scott B. Smith

So I finally got around to watching “The Ruins” last night, a horror film which centers a group of friends going on a trip in Cancun, to visit an archeological site of the Mayan ruins. The 4 friends Jeff, Eric, Amy and Stacy stay in Cancun for a while to party and have some fun before visiting the ruins. They run into another friend named Pablo who knows where the place is by a drawn map he has. When they finally take the trip to the Ruins site which may look like a small pyramid or a temple of some sort, they notice the ruins were covered with these green plants that has red flowers on them. Armed Mayans people were gaurding the site so in order to survive, the 4 friends were forced to live on top of the Ruins until help came along because the place has an abandoned campsite. Those long plants has flowers that makes loud noises, if you make a noise, the plants will start to move and they could be moved inside humans bodies, it could be infective and could kill people.

My thougthts on the film? According to critics and fans of the movies online, people said it was scary and gory and too disturbing to watch. As a huge fan of the horror film genre, I didn’t once find the film all that gory and never once found the film to be all that scary either. The storyline and acting was pretty good, but I think the film would be a lot scarier if the film didn’t have any gore at all.

I didn’t find any disturbance in it and didn’t jump at all once. I know how horror films work as I said many times I am obsessed with the horror genre so I know all about it. Those who think it’s scary and disturbing must be new to the horror genre, but a longtime horror fan like myself would agree it was nothing all that scary but it did have it’s creepy moments.

It was an ok film. Nothing that excellent that people were making it out to be. I’ve seen better films than this.

Score for the Ruins = ** (2 stars as in ok)

Report: Tom Cruise was never set to star in “Edwin A. Salt” in the first place…

With the reports of Angelina Jolie taken over Tom Cruise for “Edwin A. Salt”, it turns out that it wasn’t true that Tom Cruise was signed to the movie in the first place. So this doesn’t make Angelina Jolie Tom’s replacement. The real story is according to close source to the film, the source says that Tom Cruise was asked to star in it but he turned down the role.

Tom Cruise is currently trying to bring his movie career back on track, Cruise’s next film which will be released soon is Bryan Singer’s World War II film titled “Valkyrie” set to release December 26th of 2008 this year. Cruise recently signed on to a comedy titled “Food Fight” who plays a chef who is forced to cook meals at a high school cafeteria.

More on it here:

I think Tom Cruise’s movie career is just about dead. Tom’s been banned from Paramount, his last movie “Lions for Lambs” flopped in the box office.

I think the only way he can bring his career back on track to a box office success if only he does another Mission Impossible movie but those movies are made through Paramount and he can’t make movies through that studio anymore.

I used to love Tom Cruise in the movies in the past, he used to be great, but the way he’s acting in the media as of late, I am no longer a fan of his.

Edit for correction: “Valkyrie” comes out this year Dec. 26th, not next year.
