The talented Death Cab For Cutie makes a career mistake by making a jump from small indie label to a major label by getting signed to Atlantic Records. Their new record “Narrow Stairs” is now out in stores…
Great band, talented songwriters, but I don’t know if I’ll appreciate them anymore now that they are major. I hope they do the smart thing by dropping off major labels and going back to their indie roots.
The same can be said to my favorite songwriter Mason Jennings.
What makes these indie artists want to go from indie label to major when everyone knows how bad and terrible the industry is today?
“Mission: Metallica” the new promotion site for the new Metallica album is launched now. It appears the band launched it a day early as a mother’s day gift for the fans but I was not online at the time to get a chance to get on it (I was either watching a movie or playing Grand Theft Auto IV most of the evening yesterday).
It’s basically going to be a countdown preview, like videos of Metallica recording the new album in the studio, and after all the videos are uploaded, I believe they will upload the new album on that site for us all to hear before it’s out in September.

Couple of videos of Spin Doctors in Albany, N.Y. from yesterday! Enjoy! 🙂
Kev
Edit to Add: Does the audience look bored to death? Seems like they are talking throughout their set and not even cheering or even dancing to their music? Something tells me that Albany at that audience aren’t really Spin Doctors fans they are just there for outdoor entertainment?

Geez, the Miley Cyrus news just won’t end. It also seems that John Travolta wants to get back into music again. Travolta was a singer back in the 70’s/80’s, he went back into musicals by starring in “Hairspray” musical movie and now it seems that he is interested in making music with Miley Cyrus.
The article doesn’t really say if they are dueting on one song or making an entire album together. Kelly Preston, Travolta’s wife revealed the news to E!
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke does not like the idea of EMI releasing a Greatest Hits album for Radiohead. It wasn’t the band’s decision to release the Greatest Hits record, the label did it on their own decision. Thom complains that all those songs on their new Greatest Hits record aren’t “hits”. He never considered any of Radiohead’s songs “hits” or “singles”. Yorke admits there is nothing the band can do to stop the label from releasing it since Radiohead’s music is “public property”.
Ac/Dc frontman Brian Johnson finally came out of hiding after all these years and was interviewed a radiostation called WMGK 102.9, not sure where the radiostation is from.
In the interview they talk about Ac/Dc working on the new album of course, no album title has been decided yet. Brian talks about that Angus is hard to recognize when he’s not in the schoolboy suit. Brian admits that Angus is a very shy and quiet man, gets real nervous when performing on stage. During the bands break, Brian admits this is the longest Ac/Dc has ever been out of music. Brian says he’s been working on music and writing songs with other bands people don’t know about on the bands hiatus, he’s also wrote 3 songs for a movie that he and a comedian friend worked on, plus Brian says he’s just having fun and enjoying life while Ac/Dc is on a hiatus.
Watch the youtube clip to hear this entertaining interview! Good to have you back Brian!
