Cool Video: Kate Nash performs “Foundations” at Coachella 2008…

Here is part of Kate Nash’s performance from yesterday at Coachella, a good quality of her performing the song “Foundations”…enjoy this. Her music is beautiful and so talented. I’ve just discovered Kate Nash a while back and been listening to her tunes online for a while now.

Thought: Kate Nash is my new favorite music artist…

Kate Nash is a young Irish singer who actually came from Dublin, Ireland. She’s a multi talented musician that plays all instruments, but when she performs live she switches from acoustic guitar to piano. Her songwriting fits along the lines of Bjork or Ani Difranco but Kate Nash has her own sound. I like her lyric writing and she comes up with unique melodies in her songs. Plus, she’s a gorgeous looking girl who is not about breast implants and supermodel looks.

Listen to her tunes at her myspace:

I barely listen to major label music anymore since today’s music is shit but once in a while I come across a new artist that I actually like. And Kate Nash is one of them. She’s fantastic. Listen to her and check her out.

I’ll probably pick up one of her CD’s at Best Buy when I go pick up Grand Theft Auto IV. Kate Nash is one of the hot new artists today who knows what good music is all about.

Report: Prince does surprising cover song by playing Radiohead’s “Creep” at last night’s Coachella festival…

Prince was the big headliner at the huge Coachella Festival that got big media coverage over the week. Prince performed at Saturday’s concert, this is a three day weekend festival. Coachella music fest took place at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calfornia. Think a legendary pop/rock icon like Prince is not a fan of Radiohead? Think again. It appears Prince is a very big fan of  Radiohead by covering the song “Creep” at last night’s Coachella. He also performed a handful of other surprising cover songs by The Beatles and Sarah Machlachan, and of course, he did mostly original songs in his set.

Prince’s setlist from last night:

The Bird (performed by Morris Day) / Jungle Love (performed by Morris Day) /  Glamorous Life (performed by Sheila E.) / Instrumental Jam / 1999 / I Feel For U / Controversy (with snippet of “Housequake”) / Little Red Corvette / Musicology / Cream / U Got the Look / Shh / Anotherloverholeinyourhead / Creep (Radiohead cover) / The Arms of an Angel (Sarah McLachlan cover performed by backup singers) / 7 –> Come Together (Beatles Cover) / Purple Rain / Let’s Go Crazy

Some of the other artists that performed this weekend so far are: Jack Johnson, The Verve, The Raconteurs, the Breeders (remember their hit “Cannonball”?), Serj Tankian, Portishead, Death Cab For Cutie, country singer Dwight Yoakam, Kate Nash, Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse’s friend and sidekick), Flogging Molly, and more.

Today’s lineup for Sunday at Coachella Fest lineup include: Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket and a bunch of bands I never heard of before. I’ll imagine Roger Waters is the headliner for tonight’s festival and I’ll be keeping an eye out for his setlist too.

Wow.

To be honest, I don’t really care that he’s retiring. I don’t really care for his music. He has a few good songs I like with Genesis and a few good songs with his solo stuff, but I’m not much of a fan.

Expect this news to soon be all over entertainment media later tonight or tomorrow.

Report: Lars Ulrich hints Metallica might release next record on the internet…

Lars Ulrich of Metallica spoke to Rollingstone magazine by phone while attending Record Store day in California. Lars hints that Metallica could be releasing their next album via the internet before the record hits stores like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails has done.

Is that what http://www.missionmetallica.com/ is all about?

Quote from article:

“Mmm, we’ve never sold ourselves that way. No disrespect. We want to be as free a players as possible. We’ve been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor and in twenty-seven years or however long it takes for the next record, we’ll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet.” – Lars Ulrich

From Rollingstone.com:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/20379823/lars_ulrich_weve_always_been_fiercely_independent_and_controlling

It’s great to see more famous artists going for the internet to release their music. Bands and artists don’t always have to release albums on CD, the internet is the way to go in my opinion.

I’ve always liked listening to mp3’s on the internet more than compact discs to be honest.

I don’t buy music CD’s as much anymore. I always felt that the internet is the way to release music. Bands/artists can release their music how they want to.

I found nothing special about music albums with profesional covers, booklets with lyrics/credits in them, etc. CD manufacturing is just a big waste of money and it’s cool to see more bands starting to realize that. People don’t buy CD’s much anymore, the internet the way to go.

I like releasing my own albums for the internet only. I only released one internet album so far which was last year and hopefully I’ll release another internet album soon once I write some songs that I’m proud of releasing for it.

Looking forward to hearing the new music by Metallica.

Report: Starbucks Coffee dumps music label after one year in business…

Starbucks Coffee, the popular coffeehouse all over the United States has decided to dump it’s music label. Paul McCartney was the first artist to be signed to the label and released a record through it. Joni Mitchell and James Taylor were also on the label’s roster. The artists signed to the label will be turned over to Concord Music Group. The reason for dumping the label is to help save money for the coffees and foods for the actual coffeehouse business. Not only that, Ken Lombard who started the label is leaving the company. Starbucks has also made a deal with Apple LLC to go digital with the music, so customers can buy music from Apple Itunes music stores without paying WiFi connection.

I somehow predicted this label wouldn’t last long so it didn’t surprise me. They wouldn’t dump it if it was a successful label.

First she threatens to sue female rock artist Lennon Murphy for rights over her first name, now she is suing the producers that challenges the concept of the Darwinian evolution. She is accusing them of using John Lennon’s historic song “Imagine” without her permission. The name of the film that wants to use the song is titled, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” which stars comedian Ben Stein who starred in a string of Red Eye commercials and hosted Comedy Central’s “Win Ben Stein’s Money”.

The complaint in the suit asks the court to stop the film from promoting, distrubiting, promoting the movie and seeks financial damages.

The Associated Press reports:

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hlCmrQJO7lSHjdN0BtU_ZANKDLugD908083O0

No, the way I see it, the world of blogosphere’s is not accusing her of “selling out” because of the use of the song in that film. Yoko’s always been a sellout for years.

It’s a fact that the fans of the Beatles despises this evil woman.

Yoko and J.K. Rowling would be good friends, they should drink together in a bar talking about stuff like how powerful, ego-ish, and controlling they are.
