NEW: U2 “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”…new single for next album?

U2 just debuted a new song titled “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”, they debuted it live on the Late Late Show. The lyrics to the “Ballad of Ronnie Drew” was written by Robert Hunter who was the longtime lyricist for the Grateful Dead. U2 wrote the music for the song. U2 performed the song as a special tribute to Ronnie Drew who is the frontman of the band The Dubliners. Musician Ronnie Drew is battling cancer and the band U2 wanted to pay respects to this Irish musician.

The musicians special guesting on the song “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew” are Sinead O’ Connor, Andrea Corr (from the Corrs), Moya Brennan, Damien Dempsey, Shane McGowan, Christy Moore, and more.  All Irish musicians.

It’s a beautiful song, I hope U2 put this on their next album! Get well Ronnie!

Edit to add: I found the lyrics to the song.

The Ballad of Ronnie Drew

words by Robert Hunter

————————————–

Here’s to the Ronnie, the voice we adore
Like coals from a coal bucket scraping the floor
Sing out his praises in music and malt
And if you’re not Irish, that isn’t your fault

Raise up our voices like dogs in a pack
Thankful for honest men we never lack
We got ’em by twenties, we got ’em by ones
Them and their daughters and all of their sons

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you

And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I tied up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe

Get up and go at it, five until five
When the whistle says budge it we come back alive
He’ll sing to the heavens, he’s stormy as hell
And wherever he goes, we’ll be wishing him well

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you

The dawn and the dust, the wise, the unjust
Kids in gambling games
The unheard, the unseen, the unwashed and the clean
Where the streets all have names
Baggot Street, Leeson Street, right on to Stephens Street
With lovers and loners who can hear all intoners
The goths and the ravers, invalids and traders
Sing out Ronnie Drew

A life for a life or a hand for a hand
Trust in the music and strike up the band
The more that we sing the less that we fight
Time and again this is proved to be right

Build you a statue on St. Stephen’s Green
No fairer monument ere to be seen
The statue of Ronnie Drew holding the hand
Of a girl with her hair in a black velvet band

Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
No stranger to devils or angles to tell
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend to you
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew

And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I rolled up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe!

Report: B.B. King buys nightclub in his hometown…

Legendary bluesman, B.B. King just bought a nightclub in his Mississippi Delta hometown, the club was formerly owned by Mary Shepard and the club is called “Club Ebony” in Indianola. It is a club where only black people mostly hang out at. She sold the club to the legendary bluesman so she can move on with her life and spend time with her family.

Thought: Eddie Vedder doing acoustic folk music…he should do “more” of it…

While many are not fans of Eddie Vedder’s longtime band Pearl Jam, I would still strongly suggest you check out his acoustic solo work for his soundtrack to the movie “Into the Wild”. Vedder composed all the music on the soundtrack except for one track Kaki King has a song in the movie too but it’s not included in the soundtrack since “Into the Wild” is strictly Eddie Vedder’s album.

Eddie Vedder’s acoustic work is truly beautiful stuff….really, he does a very good job at it. I really think Vedder should continue the acoustic folk genre whenever he takes a break from Pearl Jam. He should definitely do another acoustic solo CD in the future.

Next time I go to the mall, I also plan on picking up the DVD for “Into the Wild” and Vedder’s soundtrack album to the movie as well. Eddie Vedder’s acoustic music is probably the best acoustic music I’ve heard in years…

Listen to these tracks to see what I mean, check out these songs “Society” and “Rise”. I’m actually thinking about learning the chords to these songs so I can cover them myself. I’m just blown away and Vedder’s singing just sends chills down my spine in these songs with the great melody and vocal lines. I’m kind of upset at the Oscars for not nominating Eddie Vedder for Best Soundtrack, he truly deserves an Oscar for this.

Enjoy and happy easter.

Report: The Beatles sue to stop 1962 tapes from releasing…

Lawyers of the Beatles sued to prevent distribution of unreleased recordings made during Ringo Star’s first performance with the band in 1962. Apple Corps Ltd. claims that the unreleased songs were taped without the consent of the band and Fuego Entertainment had no right to distribute them. Feugo defended themselves by saying the recordings were legally made. Feugo president says that they had not been served a copy of the $15 million dollar lawsuit.

Thought: Ac/Dc is due for a comeback by now, don’tcha think?

So, the major label industry is going down the toilet. National rock music is dead. Pop music has taken over. What does this world need so people can start buying records again? Yes, this world is in need of an AC/DC comeback!!!!

AC/DC has not released a new album since the year 2000, which was the album “Stiff Upper Lip”. It’s been 8 years since they haven’t released a new record. So this is no surprise that the band will go on another very long hiatus. The band has always been known to do this, take long breaks in between albums.

The band is not broken up. They are still together. Because if you look on the bands official website: http://www.acdcrocks.com/, you can see the band is doing whatever they can to keep their fans happy while they are on their break. Ac/Dc just released a live DVD set “Plug Me In” (which kicks total ass by the way, I own it) and they are holding a contest where you can win Cliff Williams autographed bass signed by the man himself. So there’s more proof that the band is not broken up.

What the world needs is an Ac/Dc comeback. A huge one. Ac/Dc needs to take over the music industry again. The national music industry is dying. Please come out and save it Ac/Dc. We NEED YOU! We need the true gods of rock with a new album and tour to follow it. I totally miss Brian Johnson, and the guys. Angus Young has always been one of my favorite guitarists and he’s a hero of mine.

Please come back dudes! Grow some big balls and stop hiding. I feel that Ac/Dc is writing a new album and it will be the best they’ve ever done. “Stiff Upper Lip” was an ok album but trust me, their next album will be better. If they’ve taken a break this long, they’re probably taking their slow time with the next one.

The boys in Ac/Dc will be back, I promise you that.

Thought: Amy Winehouse nude pic for “Easy Living” magazine…

I found it, you can find ’em in various links when you google it…she only posed for 1 nude pic, not for an entire pictorial, they don’t show her nipples and they don’t show her bare pussy:

Again, she looks beautiful. Blake must love banging her before he went to prison.

You see, women don’t have to be “supermodel” perfect, and everyone expects to see stuff like that online.

Not with me. Perfect women with perfect skin, perfect implanted boobs, etc. is a turn off for me. I like the real amatuer women.

With celebrities posing nude for charity, I think they just want to prove that celebrity women aren’t perfect looking that the public thinks they are, end of story.

Report: George Clooney wants Amy Winehouse….

Actor George Clooney is in negotiations with Amy Winehouse for her to perform live at Metropolitan Museum Of Art Costume Institute in New York City on May 5th. She has been offered a $1 Million Dollar deal by Giorgio Armani who is hosting the bash, Giorgio asked George Clooney and Julia Roberts to talk Amy Winehouse into confirming the gig. It’s most likely Amy will play the gig.

It’s great to see Amy get more support from people, just shows that the world loves Amy and wants to help her every step of the way.

Report: Amy Winehouse posed nude for charity for “Easy Living” magazine…

Look like Linsday Lohan inspires other celebrity women to pose nude for charity for non-porn magazines. Consider Amy Winehouse to be next. Amy Winehouse has just posed for a nude pictorial for “Easy Living” magazine. “Easy Living” magazine is NOT an adult porn magazine, it is strictly a magazine for fashion, cooking, beauty, and the like. The magazine will post an issue about “Breast Cancer”. The Amy Winehouse nude pics aren’t released to the public yet but when it does, I’ll post the link, because I know some die hard Amy fans are going to leak her nude photoshoot to the internet at some point.

Singer, Sade and actress Helena Bonham Carter will also pose nude for “Breast Cancer” charity for “Easy Living” magazine.

There is absolutely nothing “wrong” with people wanting to pose naked to the public. If you’re proud of how your naked body looks or if you’re not proud and want to get feedback from the public, don’t be afraid to show it all off! If you’re into that type of thing, have fun with it and get into it!

As long as it’s legal and as long as it’s in their consent, go for it. It’s a good thing to be naked and free.

Report: The Velvet Revolver claims they’ll tour with Led Zep…

First The Cult, now the Velvet Revolver is bringing up rumours of touring with Led Zeppelin.

http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/58620978

*sigh*

The rumours of Led Zeppelin touring just won’t end, eh? Even if Led Zeppelin keeps denying a tour, that doesn’t help destroy the rumours either.

Get the hell over it people! In the words of Jason Bonham, he said “Begging for a tour” is greedy. And I agree with him.

I’m not upset of Led Zeppelin not touring. I’m happy enough they finally got to gig together for one last time. Who cares if Led Zeppelin don’t tour! Be happy that they came back to us for one last round.

And for the record, the Velvet Revolver is a shitty band. They suck. Led Zeppelin were never known to share concerts with other bands. They only shared with other bands at the O2 gig ’cause it was a tribute for Ahmet Ertegun.

I wish these delusional bands like the Velvet Revolver would stop fantasizing about touring with Led Zeppelin, keep dreaming boys, it will never happen.
