Has Neil Young been cheating on Pegi???? It seems so…

It doesn’t surprise me that Neil Young could be having an affair with actress Daryl Hannah ’cause they worked on some projects together in the past before like their protests against the Keystone Pipeline for example. It’s looking like he filed divorced papers on Pegi so he can marry Daryl sometime in the future. Turns out he likes Daryl more than Pegi. It’s a shame that Neil would do this to Pegi after a 36 year long marriage.

While I think Neil Young is a talented guitar player and songwriter, I do think he’s an asshole, though. This could put a huge damage to his career.

Cheating is dumb. When you’re not happy with your wife or girlfriend, you be a man and let her know about it… then you split with her.

I’ll never cheat on a woman if I ever start dating.

Neil Young files divorce from Pegi Young after 36 years of marriage…

I’m not into celebrity gossip and marriage/divorce news but I thought this news would be worth passing along. This could affect the “Bridge School” benefit concerts that Neil and Pegi are both in charge of.

Some of you may wonder why the divorce after many years of marriage? Well… I’m almost pretty positive that Neil is gonna write a song or a whole album about it. Neil wrote tons of songs about Pegi over the years, I’m sure.

Maybe they have nothing against each other and the divorce was amicable??? Maybe Neil just wants to focus on his career more and just doesn’t have the time for marriage???

I’m not a big fan of Neil’s liberal politics but I’m a huge fan of his music, though. He’s a great singer, songwriter and guitarist. I’ve been listening to Neil Young for years.

Some of you may ask, why is Neil’s divorce news? Well, Pegi is a musician and has a career too and that’s probably why. It’s pretty obvious though that the only reason she has a music career is ’cause Neil helped get it going for her

Neil Young covers Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” with Crosby, Stills and Nash…

I’ll have to admit that this was the best thing Jimmy Fallon have done in a long time. No matter what you think of Iggy Azalea, love her or hate her, Jimmy just gave her even more exposure by covering her song. I thought Jimmy did great and so did Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Expect Iggy’s album, “The New Classic” to sell even more now. “The New Classic” by Iggy is a great album and I can’t believe I’m saying that myself. Her music really is enjoyable stuff and I’m not into rap & pop music much.

Neil Young releases new song “Needle of Death” (a cover song)…

Neil Young is going to release a new album on May 27th titled, “A Letter Home” which is produced by Jack White. This is a new track from the album that Neil dropped this morning and it’s called, “Needle of Death” which is a cover song written by Bert Jansch.

Sounds like Neil is going back to acoustic folk music for his next album. Neil switches back and forth from hard rock to acoustic stuff all the time. I love Neil’s acoustic music. I love his rock n’ roll stuff too. I love it when he does both.

Looking forward to the new album. I’ve been a huge Neil Young fan for years. I have a lot of his albums in my music collection. He’s a big inspiration in my own songwriting.

Neil Young’s Pono player already creating a buzz online…

As expected, Neil Young’s Pono Player is already creating a huge buzz online after his launch announcement. Music lovers are already excited about it ’cause his kickstarter service already reached his goal in 1 day which is no surprise.

I think this is a good enough sign that Pono Music is gonna be HUGE in the future. The Pono player maybe a bit pricey for now but I’m sure Neil will bring down the price some when ever it starts selling real good. I think there’s a good chance that a lot of people will be curious about this so they will buy the Pono player and once they discover they love it… they’ll ditch Itunes and go to Pono instead. Yep, Pono is the future of digital music.

I wonder what music would sound like from the original master recording of albums? I’m sure it will have a louder and clearer sound, though. That’s the goal with Pono… to listen to the original recording of the album that was recorded in the studio. The major labels will have to send the original master recordings of albums to Pono.

Neil still listens to music the old school way. He prefers to listen to music on vinyl. Maybe that’s what the Pono player will sound like a little bit? He prefers to record his own music in the studio the old way as well ’cause he records all of his albums on analog only.

Neil looks at things differently than we all do. He’s an honest guy and I like what he’s doing here.

Neil Young will finally launch his long-awaited Pono Player…

Ever since Apple & Itunes got big, Neil Young hasn’t been too impressed with today’s sound of MP3 players and the Ipod. He just doesn’t like how the sound of the mp3 gets dummied down from the original recording. You know how when you record music on an album and you convert it to Mp3 for the internet, the sound goes down a little bit? That’s what Neil doesn’t want. He wants to stop that from happening so you can get a good, loud, and clean sound out of an mp3. That’s what the Pono player does. On the Pono player you can hear the original sound from the original recording… one that doesn’t lower the resolution of sound.

I’m sure some would accuse Neil Young of wanting to make more money and to please himself with the sound but it’s not true. He wants to improve the sound of digital music for the world. He’s doing this for all of us music lovers.

Pono Music will be launched this week on March, 15th, and the Pono player will cost $399 each.

Could Neil Young change the future of digital music? Could Pono Music take over the spotlight of Apple/Itunes? I predict yes. Pretty soon, Apple/Itunes will be a thing of the past and something new will come around. I think that will be Neil’s, Pono Music. It may take some time but Pono Music will be big.

I’ll have to agree with Neil though that the sound quality on today’s mp3 is horrible. We deserve better sound quality.

I’m curious on what Pono sounds like myself. I’m sure it will sound way better than the Ipod. I think what Neil is doing is pretty heroic and I wish him luck on this.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Neil Young!

Rock legend, Neil Young, is celebrating his 68th birthday today. Yes, he is 68 and alive and well! Neil is one of the very few rock legends who is still making records and touring pretty heavily to this day. Other rock legends may have retired or slowed down a little bit on music but not Neil. Neil kept going and still doing his thing. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that he is one of the best songwriters in the industry. I’ve followed his career for years. He’ll probably come out with another studio album next year in 2014. The man is always working. He’ll be doing music full time until he’s dead, trust me! Music is his life and he truly shows it! Happy Birthday, Neil! My hero and inspiration! I love all of Neil’s music. Everything from his classic hits and all of his newer stuff. He still writes amazing music!

Farm Aid 2013 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. review…

I didn’t go to the show @ Farm Aid 2013 in Saratoga Springs last night but I watched it on the live stream in youtube. Yeah, they were live streaming the whole Farm Aid show on the internet like they do every year. The event was first started by Willie Nelson in 1985 to help raise money for families who owns local farms so they won’t lose them over mortgage debt. John Mellencamp and Neil Young teamed up with him. Dave Matthews joined them as board of directors later in the years. This year, Farm Aid was taken place at SPAC in Saratoga Springs which the event happened last night. There was live music all day on the main stage yesterday but the 4 big headlining acts: Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Willie Nelson didn’t start til later at 5 p.m.

Let me review each of their performances briefly, I watched Farm Aid on the Ipad last night:

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: They played an acoustic set. Dave played mostly DMB songs, of course. I’m not much of a DMB fan anymore but I actually like him and Tim Reynolds playing together more. I thought their set was pretty amazing last night. I was most impressed with Tim Reynold’s performance, though. He’s quite the guitar player on acoustic! I was watching what Tim was doing close-up on the Ipad and what he was doing on the acoustic amazes me. Tim can play fast lead guitar on acoustic with just using his fingers. He doesn’t even use a guitar pick in a lot of stuff and I’m like woah. It’s very hard to play good lead guitar on acoustic and I would like to play like that myself.

John Mellencamp: To be honest, I wasn’t so crazy about this performance. He played a mix of new songs and classic hits. He was cool enough to take requests from the audience, he definitely like crowd participation for sure but I wasn’t so crazy about his singing. John doesn’t sing good anymore as he used to. He sings like an old man who smokes too much. Something about his singing that didn’t grab me, I don’t know. I’m not much of a Mellencamp fan to begin with, anyways. His music wasn’t really my cup of tea.

Pete Seeger: After Mellencamp got over with, he invited folk music legend Pete Seeger to the stage. Even though Pete Seeger is 94 years old and he admitted that he doesn’t have much of a singing voice anymore, he still KILLED IT. Pete was pretty amazing. Pete did his usual cover of “This Land Is Your Land”. The 4 founders of Farm Aid sung along with him and so did the audience. Pete was awesome!

Neil Young: All week long I’ve been looking forward to Neil’s performance at Farm Aid and to be honest, I’ll have to say I was pretty disappointed with his performance. His performance was acoustic. He didn’t have Crazy Horse with him which is expected (’cause their guitarist Poncho has a broken hand which is why the band had to cancel their tour). Neil’s performance was amazing of course, he did a few covers and a few of his classic tunes; however, he could have played more songs instead of rambling and ranting on and on and on over ridiculous stuff. Yeah, I understand it’s Farm Aid and he had a message to say about food and farms but he didn’t need to go on that lengthy rant in between songs. There was even a point where some guy from the audience called out Neil and yelled, “Come on, Lets go”. Neil immediately responded to that guy from the crowd and said, “Did I hear a come on lets go? I work for me.”. Sure enough, the crowd cheered for him and Neil kept talking until he finally went back to the music. Later on when he went to the organ to perform a song, he messed up a song, stopped playing and rambled on to the crowd some more. I love Neil’s music and all but he is kind of an asshole. He was a dick to the crowd last night. He didn’t care if the fans were waiting for him to play the music, he had a message to say about the food industry in America which was inappropriate really ’cause that wasn’t what Farm Aid was about. Instead Neil ranted about food politics and turned Farm Aid to a negative direction. He obviously has liberal views toward food, climate, global warming, etc. He talked about all that stuff. The music he played was good, I just wish he didn’t go on those long speeches.

I didn’t bother watching Willie Nelson, though. I’m sure he was good but his music is not my cup of tea either.

Even though, I didn’t go to Farm Aid, I’m glad I got to watch it online. I thought the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds and Pete Seeger were the best performances of the night. Thumbs down to Mellencamp and Neil.

While I love Neil Young, “Journeys”, was one of the worst music documentaries I’ve ever seen! WOW!

Yes, I’m a huge Neil Young fan, but his latest rockumentary with collaborator Jonathan Demme, was one of the worst music films I’ve ever seen. The live performances were amazing, of course, throughout the entire film was horribly shot. Really bad camera work. For a few songs, there was a point where the camera did a close up of Neil’s mouth, and you can actually see his teeth and the inside of his mouth when he is singing. I’m like, really? I’m not making this up, watch the film yourself. It’s creepy. I don’t see how Neil himself enjoys seeing himself like that. The live performances were at, Massey Hall, during the “Le Noise” tour.

The concert was just Neil and his guitar. Switching from electric or acoustic, with no back up band. In between songs, there are interviews with Neil driving around Ontario where he grew up, in one of his old fashioned cars. Those parts were interesting but we needed more of it.

I hope Neil will stop working with Jonathan Demme soon ’cause they already worked on 3 films together, and I don’t think I’ll bother watching the other two, after this one.

There was one part that I did like, though, was the ending of the film. When Neil finished a song, the last song of the concert, Neil went backstage, and the camera followed him and recorded everything he did backstage. He was eating some kind of fruit, either lemons or oranges, can’t tell which, and he was drinking some kind of alcohol, while his fans chanted for an encore. Then he went back out and played one last song. After the final song got over with, Neil once again walked backstage and outside to the tour bus and that was it. That was the only scene of the film that I liked, but the rest of the film was garbage.

Jonathan Demme should stick with making fictional movies ’cause music documentaries isn’t for him.

Happy 67th Birthday, Mr. Neil Young…

Neil Young celebrates his 67th birthday today. 2012 is quite a year for Neil. He has released three different projects in one year. I don’t know how he does it at this age, but the man keeps himself busy. Neil has released two different albums with Crazy Horse this year, “Americana”, and “Psychedelic Pill”. He also released his memoir, “Waging Heavy Peace”. Neil is always working. The man just doesn’t stop. Which is part of why he gets my respect.

I love Neil. He’s a huge inspiration and a hero to me. Thanks Neil, and thanks for what you do. Here are several of my favorite Neil Young songs in the videos below. Seriously, I’m a huge fan of Neil. He’s a phenomenal singer and guitarist. He’s a good guy and honest. He treats his career in a positive note. Too many reasons why he gets my respect. I’ll always stay loyal to Neil. I just hope to get my chance to see him in concert or even better, meet the man in person.

Enjoy.
