On Jimmy Fallon last night there was some kind of CSNY reunion. Jimmy Fallon was playing as Neil Young again singing a song called, “Party In the USA”. Out comes surprise special guest singers: Graham Nash and David Crosby. Yes, the real Graham Nash and David Crosby, not played by actors. This was a killer performance. Nash and Crosby great singers like usual. The only one who didn’t come out was obviously, Stephen Stills.
What’s with all the Jimmy Fallon performing as Neil Young for? I think it’s an obvious hint that the real Neil Young himself will go on the show to sing with Jimmy Fallon. It’s gonna happen at some point, just give it time, folks.
Jimmy Fallon “Late Night” has been on NBC for a long while now. He’s been having so many legendary acts perform on the show everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Megadeth. The real Neil Young haven’t performed on Jimmy Fallon yet. It’s coming, I’m sure.
Today is a very special day in the world of rock and roll music. Why? Because today is Neil Young’s birthday. Yes, the Canadian legendary rocker turns 65, today. He is one of the reasons I got into music in the first place, and he is one of the reasons why I wanted to write my own original songs, and to play guitar. His music means so much to me. He is not only a great singer/songwriter, but he is also one of the best live performers. He puts so much energy and heart into his live concerts. When he plays on stage, you can tell that Neil Young doesn’t care about fame and the money, he does it for the love of music. You can really see his passion for music when he performs live.
This post is about celebrating the music of Neil Young. One of the greatest rock and rollers of all times. I love Neil. Have a little over ten of his albums in my CD collection and counting. Neil deserves this post ’cause he is one of the only legendary rockers still alive and rocking. He still puts out albums year after year, like he has always done and always touring. Most legendary musicians died of a young age, and kudos for Neil for sticking with us. Thank you Neil, for all the wonderful music you made for us.
I think Neil Young’s “Le Noise” is his best new record in years. In fact, it’s ranked high up in the top 5 list of his best albums. Neil Young is seriously at the top of his game now. On this new record, Neil doesn’t play with a band. It’s just him and his electric guitar. The songs on the album are absolutely haunting and creepy in a way. The album maybe hard for new Neil Young fans to get into, but once you get into it, the album will grab you. I think it’s very interesting Neil, playing his electric guitar without a band, using overdrive or distortion pedals. He wants to prove electric guitar music doesn’t need a band. This is the best that Neil Young has been in years. It’s definitely the best album all year long. This album is different than the stuff he did in the past. The sound in Daniel Lanois’s home is out of this world. The songwriting on this album is great.
You can hear the whole album here in, “Le Noise – The Film”, in youtube, the entire album is here in this video below. Watch this whole thing if you would please. I’ve been a die hard fan of Neil Young for years.
Neil Young just released a new single from the new album, “Le Noise”. This song is called, “Angry World”. It’s just him and his electric guitar. Using a lot of overdrive effects. The sound production in Daniel Lanois’s house is just amazing. I guess Neil wants to prove a point that electric guitar rock can be performed without a backup band. He has performed live on stage with just him and his electric guitar with no backing band many times in the past. He just never did anything like this in the studio before.
It’s a good song. Very unique and haunting. Neil’s new music has gotten very dark. I wonder how his new album is going to sell? We’ll wait and see.
Neil Young just revealed details of his new upcoming album, “Le Noise”. The album will NOT be full band rock. It will just be Neil alone in the studio himself. No backing band. All Neil will be playing is just his acoustic guitar and electric guitar. That’s it. There are also no overdubs. Neil got the album title, “Le Noise” because it was recorded in Daniel Lanois home studio in Los Angeles. Get the hint with “Le Noise” borrowing it from Daniel’s last name, Lanois. The album will have 8 songs and there will be a DVD with it showing Neil performing those songs live in the studio.

The Canadian rock legend, Neil Young, announced he will be releasing a new studio album with new originals titled, “Le Noise”, and it will be hitting the shelves on Sept 28th. The style of music on it is being kept underwraps for now, but from the sound of the album title, get the hint with the word, “noise”, sounds like he’s going for another hard rock electric guitar record. He’s always been well known to switch back and forth to acoustic to hard rock.
This will be the follow up from Neil Young’s last studio album, “Fork in the Road” released last year in 2009.
I’ll definitely be getting this ’cause I love Neil Young. I’m such a huge fan of him and look forward to anything that he comes out with, no matter what genre of music he does next. His songwriting and music is just amazing to me. I love how Neil is still going with music. I don’t think he’ll ever retire. This guy will play music ’til the day he dies.
Neil Young, who is a Canadian, didn’t show up for his own tribute show that he was booked to perform at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Since there was no sign of Neil himself there, other artists performed instead. Artists such as Lou Reed, Elvis Costello, and Ron Sexsmith performed covers of Neil’s songs there. I wonder what made Neil not show up for this? You think a man like him wouldn’t turn down such a huge opportunity that would have been a lifelong dream for him but he bailed out on this for whatever reason. Turning down something like the Olympics? Come on Neil, you think you’re too famous for the Olympics or what? Get your game on and support the Olympics, dude!
Most famous rock n’ roll bands use a lot of very expensive, fancy gadgets, and impressive equipment when playing live on stage. Stuff like 4 or 5 Full stack of Marshall amps, loads of pedalboards, and like 20 different guitars on stage.
Not with Neil Young. Neil keeps his live setup small and simple. Simply by using a few beat up vintage amps, and he doesn’t use too many guitars on stage.
Neil uses the same gear throughout his gigs and uses the same guitar throughout his performance. His no. 1 rule when playing, he always thought it was better to not change anything at concerts.
Bands like to switch guitars on stage and use different sounds, but Neil likes to keep everything the same.
Read this interesting article here on how Neil plays live:
My musical hero, Neil Young, rocks Glastonbury 2009 over the weekend. Here he is right here. Look like there were no, Springsteen and Neil Young jam like I was predicting. I love Neil. He’s such a hero to me, I love all of his music. I like a lot of music out there, but Neil Young stands up to me the most than anything out there.
Neil Young covers a Beatles tune as soon as he hits the stage.
Neil Young played a great set at Isle of Wight, a music festival in the UK. He brought out mostly classics, staying away from his new music. He even played, “Hey Hey My My”, and ending the set with a Beatles cover, “A Day In the Life”. After the song got over with, Neil blasted his guitar amp with loud feedback by shaking the instrument, and breaking the guitar strings off of it. A 60 something year old man, still rocking hard with energy. Neil Young has been in the UK to prepare for his performance at the huge “Glastonbury” festival.
