Report: Stallone saw “Son Of Rambow” and reviewed it…

At first Sylvester Stallone was not amused about a movie titled “Son Of Rambow” a film which is about two young children filming a movie based on “Rambo: First Blood”. This film is totally paying homage to Stallone’s real “Rambo”. At first Stallone thought this was a joke-a-minute comedy, I think he’s reffering to slapstick parodies making fun of Rambo. To his surprise, it wasn’t that. “Son Of Rambow” is actually a mix of comedy and drama. A serious film. When Sly finally decided to check the movie out, he absolutely loved it. Stallone himself e-mailed the film makers commending them a job well done.

From the L.A. Times:

Here is the “Son of Rambow” trailer for those interested. I’ll wait for DVD release on this one though.

For one time and for one day only, you’ll soon get to experience the first Rambo film “Rambo: First Blood” back on the big screen. The film will hit selected theaters on May 15th @ 7:30 p.m. What’s even better, that the film will show the alternate ending where Rambo dies. This event is hosted by Fathom company.

NEW: Rambo (2008) 2 Disc Special Edition/BluRay – May 27th…

The new Rambo (2008) DVD/Blue Ray cover is released, and there it is above. How cool is that? Isn’t that a sweet cover! I think it’s badass! Rambo will be getting a DVD and BluRay release on exactly May 27th. So mark your calendars and pick up a copy that day!

The DVD extras will feature audio commentary with Sylvester Stallone, deleted scenes, six behind the scenes featurettes, and a digital copy for the film for your Itunes and Windows Media players.

The BluRay version will include the same extras, but it will also have a gallery of trailers from the 3 previous Rambo films, and a bonus view audio picture-in picture commentary with Sly Stallone.

For those who don’t want the 2 disc SE or the BluRay, there is also a single disc edition with no extras, just the movie itself.

More info here:

I’m definitely buying the BluRay baby!

I’m really curious to see what the picture is going to be like in the Blu Ray edition.

I hope Sly does an “Extended” version of Rambo on DVD down the road to make the movie longer. I know he shot a lot more than 90 minutes of the film.

Report: Stallone planning to do “Rhinestone” sequel with Dolly Parton…

Sylvester Stallone has announced he is planning a sequel to “Rhinestone”. He had already started writing the script but has not yet announced the title. Stallone will reprise his role as Nick Martinelli and Dolly Parton has confirmed to reprise her role as Jake. “Rhinestone” was about a legendary country star who thinks she can turn anyone into a country star, she meets up with a taxi driver who she tries to turn him into a country singer like her.

The sequel to “Rhinestone” will be different. The story to “Rhinestone 2” will be about where Stallone’s character Nick Martinelli actually already a country star, but Dolly’s character Jake is kidnapped by a different country rock band who are drunks and a bunch of bullies. Martinelli must save Jake from the badguys, this is not a western film, this is an all out action flick where cowboys go at it kicking each others asses. Stallone says he will do more singing in this film, he will also write and direct.

“I was embarrassed when I saw myself singing in the first film, so I went to my brother Frank who is also a musician teach me to sing,” Stallone said. “Rhinestone 2 will be better than the first, this will help Dolly with the promotion of her new album.”

BREAKING NEWS: Sylvester Stallone signs “Rambo 5” along with Nu Image/Millenium…

While the news of Sly Stallone filming “Rambo 5” in Bulgaria is just a rumour at this point what I can confirm is that Stallone just signed another “Rambo” sequel with Nu Image/Millenium. Remember, Sly was offered a 2 action film deal with Nu Image/Millenium and Sly went for it. Look like “Rambo 5” is the first film he picked for one of those deals.

More on it here:

Expect this news to soon be all over the Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Dark Horizons, Aint It Cool, etc.

“Rambo 5” may as well be his next movie, I guess.

Sly admitted that he has a few action movies left in him before he gets any older so he may have well get them done before he ends up in a nursing home or something.

I think there should be 6 Rambo films to catch up with the 6 Rocky’s.

Thought: My wishlist for “Rambo V”…

Here are some thoughts that I would like to see in “Rambo V”, this is just a fun topic.

My Rambo V wishlist:

-To be at least either 2 hours or 2 1/2 hours long, Rambo (2008) was only 93 minutes and the next one needs to be a lot longer.

-Please have a longer flashback sequence to Col. Trautman, Rambo (2008) had a tiny tribute for Trautman.

-Bring back Brian Dennehy for Will Teasle.

-LOSE THAT SHIRT RAMBO!!!! Aw man, I remember in “First Blood Part II”, holy cow, Sly’s muscles were massively HUGE in that film. In Rambo (2008), he never took off his shirt once. Sly needs to do it in the next one! If Sly was able to be confident enough to take off his shirt for “Rocky Balboa”, he should have done it in Rambo (2008). It’s not a gay thing, it’s just that when you watch a Rambo movie, you always expect Rambo to take off his shirt while he’s tying the bandanna.

-Rambo’s hair should be a lot longer.

-Rambo should talk less, in “Rambo” (2008) Rambo talked a lot throughout most of the film really. I like the quiet Rambo where whenever he has something to say he says something small and brief or don’t say anything at all. That’s what makes him a tough guy.

-Sly should work on the Rambo dialogue better. While I do love the movie “Rambo” (2008) very much, Sly should speak Rambo’s voice a little better. Hope he does it better in the next film so he can speak like the real Rambo from the first three films. That really deep voice in Rambo was cool in the first three films, Sly didn’t have that in the new one.

-Bring back Julie Benz, whether she becomes Rambo’s wife or not in the next one, it’ll still be great to see her back.

-Make the violence still having the blood and gore.

That’s all I can think of for now.

Report: Stallone gearing up for Rambo V…

It’s confirmed. Sylvester Stallone is gearing up for another Rambo, yes a Rambo V will be coming. Stages in Bulgaria are being expanded to prepare for the next Rambo movie. Sly says he wants to take the next Rambo to a different genre. It’ll have action in it of course, ’cause it can’t be a Rambo film with no hardcore action, but Sly wants this one to have a different feel, something that hasn’t already been done.

Sly says Rambo V will NOT be a war movie.

Aint It Cool reports:

I’m happy Sly confirmed another Rambo. Glad he’s doing another one. After seeing “Rambo” (2oo8) as pictured above, I want to see more, more, more, and more!

What genre will Sly take Rambo in?

Will Sly turn Rambo into a romantic film? Rambo falls in love with a woman and gets married?

Rambo will not be turned into a comedy ’cause that won’t work.

The only genres I can see Sly turning Rambo in is maybe either a horror film, sci-fi, or a thriller. Rambo battling against monsters and aliens would be kind of cool, I guess.

On top of that, I don’t want Sly working on Rambo V right away though, I really want him to do “Death Wish” next. Come on Sly! Get back home to do your next movie! You have a number of die hard fans waiting for your next film already!!!!

Report: “Death Wish” to be Stallone’s next movie!!!

MGM studios the home of the Rocky movies has announced a huge slew of films they will be releasing this year. MGM announced they are releasing movies such as “Valkyrie” a film starring Tom Cruise and directed by Bryan Singer, “The Thomas Crown Affair 2” sequel, “007 – Quantum of Solace”, they have also partnered with the former New Line (now Warner Bros.) to help make the two “Hobbit” films with Peter Jackson and more films announced.

They have also announced a few surprising remakes that are officially greenlighted. “Death Wish” is one of them. A remake of the sci-fi action/adventure “Robocop” is coming and we are also getting a remake of the classic 1980 film “Fame”.

Take a look at this interesting article on budgeting and financing movies, they also announce a bunch of films they have greenlighted:

Remember, Sylvester Stallone is officially signed to direct, write, and “star” the leading role portraying Charles Bronson in “Death Wish”.

I know there are so many movie remakes coming out, but I can understand why Hollywood wants classic films to have an update to today’s version.

The only remake I care about is “Death Wish”. Seriously, Stallone is going to make a great “Death Wish” film, after seeing to what he did to the new”Rambo” think how he’s gonna make “Death Wish”. I think that’s the whole point of MGM signing Sly to make “Death Wish” ’cause of what he did to the new “Rambo” film. They want the new “Death Wish” violent and gory. The original Charles Bronson film of “Death Wish” was very violent and brutal, but Sly can make the film 10 times worse.

I’m sure Sly will start working on “Death Wish” once he comes back home from promoting Rambo overseas!
