How Sylvester Stallone saved his almost destroyed career….

So Sylvester Stallone is in the mainstream of Hollywood again. Before the film, “Rocky Balboa”, Sly’s career was almost dead. It seems that everyone forgot who the man was. Before “Rocky Balboa” Sly’s last big screen movie, was “Driven”, a movie about race cars that was directed by Renny Harlin. The film “Driven” was a failure, a box office flop. Why did it fail? Simply because the movie was bad and Sly didn’t star the lead in it, Sly was only in “Driven” for a small role. After “Driven” was released, Sly began doing movies for the independent industry of film aka indie films for straight to DVD. His next few straight to DVD films, were “D-Tox/Eye See You”, “Avenging Angello”, and “Shade”. Those films really didn’t go anywhere either.

So what could Sly do to save his dying career? That’s right, star in a movie for children, which he starred in, “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over”, he played the main villain, the Toymaker. Sly played several different roles at once in that film as a matter of fact. “Spy Kids 3D” was obviously a huge success as it helped bring Sly back in the mainstream just a little bit. Shortly after the film, Sly announced shocking news that he had plans for a “Rocky 6” which is now titled, “Rocky Balboa”. Sly had a long battle against MGM to release “Rocky Balboa” ’cause they wouldn’t work on it because of Sly’s age. They felt like he was too old for the character. Now that Sly and MGM are on good terms, they released the film. “Rocky Balboa” did well in box office, but it wasn’t a huge hit as everyone hoped it would.

Next, Sly decides to try and bring Rambo back to the big screen for the fourth time. The film “Rambo” did pretty well in box office, did a little better than “Rocky Balboa”. After the success of Rocky and Rambo being back, Sly got a deal with Nu-Image Milllenium to make a few more films with them. So Sly came up with an idea of making an action movie full of other action stars, which is “The Expendables”. Sly’s been working on “The Expendables” for the past couple of years, and now it is finally here. Will the “Expendables” movie do better than the new “Rocky” and “Rambo”? Sly making “The Expendables” is just his way of seeing what he can do outside of Rocky and Rambo.

I predict that “The Expendables” will be Sly’s biggest film, since “Rambo: First Blood part II”. It’ll be bigger than “Demolition Man” and “Cliffhanger” as well. Will the “Expendables” top Christopher Nolan’s movie, “Inception”? Definitely. Could “The Expendables” top the “Dark Knight” or even, “Avatar”? I don’t think it’ll go up that far world wide, but maybe “The Expendables” can actually make the top ten.Sly doing Spy Kids was a good move. It may have been silly and goofy for Sly to star in a kids film like that, but if Sly didn’t star in Spy Kids at all, then Rocky and Rambo wouldn’t have came back, and the Expendables wouldn’t have been made. Sly would still be doing straight to DVD movies if he didn’t do Spy Kids.

You gotta ask, what’s next for Sly after, “The Expendables”? I’m not sure yet. Sly hasn’t announced his next project yet, although he has talked about doing the Gotti movie, the Death Wish remake, and the Edgar Allan Poe biopic. He also talked about an “Expendables” sequel at times as well. Nothing’s been confirmed yet. Will Sly continue to be box office king after “The Expendables”? I think he will.

This movie will especially help Dolph Lundgren’s career as well. Dolph directed straight to DVD stuff for most of his life, and maybe his future films will get big screen treatment because of the “Expendables” movie. The “Expendables” film will give all actors in the film good opportunities for their future. Steve Austin retired from wrestling so he can focus on an acting career. Steve appeared in films such “The Longest Yard” and “The Condemned”. He starred in a few straight to DVD movies as well, such as “Damage” and “The Stranger”. “The Expendables” will help Steve Austin’s career get bigger as well. The same with Randy Couture. Other than Randy’s UFC career, Randy does star in a few films here and there, but mostly independent films such as “Red Belt” and “Scorpion King 2”. I think “The Expendables” will help Randy get into more big mainstream films in the future. Jet Li has always been known as a huge icon. Mickey Rourke is well known too, but with his movies like “The Wrestler” and “The Expendables” helped him get into “Iron Man 2” and many other big films. Jason Statham has always been well known, he’s done action movies such as “The Transporter’, “Crank” and others but they weren’t as big and mainstream. “The Expendables” will help Jason become a household name like Sly. Terry Crews is an underrated actor that no one knows about, and now that guy is everywhere in the media.

I can’t wait to see, “The Expendables” movie, I’ve been waiting a long time to see this. Sly is finally back to where he is, doing action movies with him as the leading star. I’m sure Sly will announce his next project when ever he’s done promoting, “The Expendables”. I think Sly will announce his next project sometime this fall. Looking forward to seeing the film this weekend!!! 🙂

Well this was an interesting Q&A session with Sly. That was awesome that he actually answered my question about John Gotti. What is awesome about these Q&A’s that Sly would mention the fan’s name so it can make it look like that Sly is really talking to you

I look forward to seeing “The Expendables” in a few weeks. I’m not interested in “Scott Pilgrim” or “Eat, Pray, Love”. I’m “Expendable” all the way, baby! Can’t WAIT!!!

So Sly actually did try to get Chuck Norris for the film? Jeez, it makes you wonder what’s up with Chuck Norris these days? Did Chuck retire from the entertainment industry for good? No new films, no new TV shows, no new fitness commercials, etc??? Really, Chuck, where are you? The internet constantly talks about Chuck all over the place still and we’ve heard nothing from him? WTF? Come back, Mr. Norris, we miss you!

Report: Bruce Willis joins Sylvester Stallone at San Diego Comic-Con!!!!

Look like Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t make it of course, but Bruce Willis did! Bruce was there at Comic-Con to promote his movie “Red” with Helen Mirren…but while there, Bruce made a stop to Hall H to support “The Expendables” movie with Sly and the rest of the cast.

Cool Video: Sylvester Stallone on David Letterman last night…

Sylvester Stallone is in New York City to promote the Expendables for late night TV. He went on David Letterman last night. On last night’s show, Sly and Dave talk dogs, his family, his broken neck, and of course, the Expendables movie. It was an entertaining interview. Sly’s humour was great as he brought out some laughs, but my only complaint is Sly’s outfit. Dude, what’s up with the purple outfit? I bet his wife, Jen, talked him into wearing that purple outfit. I was hoping Sly would come out wearing just jeans and a t-shirt to show off his physique a little bit.

Very nice! Wish I can go!

Arnold and Bruce weren’t listed as guests, but who knows, maybe Sly will surprise the audience and bring out, Arnold and Bruce. Maybe there is a reason they weren’t listed? Never know, the Comic Con is always full of unexpected surprises. You just never know what they will reveal at these conventions!

I can’t wait to see the movie in August!

Happy late Birthday, by the way Sly! Sylvester Stallone turned 64 on July 6 last Tuesday!

Report: The Expendables is part of lineup for this year’s San Diego Comic Con…

“The Expendables” will be part of this year’s San Diego Comic Con convention. The San Diego Comic Con is a yearly convention that helps market big movies and this year “The Expendables” will have their own panel.

More on it here:

Sylvester Stallone himself will probably be there. Maybe he will show a few exclusive scenes from the “Expendables” movie at Comic Con, that would probably happen. Other than Sly, I’m sure he will bring along a few other cast members from the movie to help promote the film. Maybe Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Stone Cold, and Jet Li will be there. Hell, maybe even Bruce and Arnold will be there too if Sly can get ’em.

I can’t wait to see what Sly has planned for this at San Diego Comic Con. Will be exciting!

Report: The MPAA finally rates “The Expendables” a hard R!

All the fans have been wanting this movie R rated, well, Stallone gave them what they wanted. The MPAA finally gave the film an official R rating.

More on it here:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2831&p=.htm

Why did it take so long for MPAA to rate the movie? Even if the movie is already out there being heavily promoted in the media? Maybe it’s because Sly didn’t finish the movie yet. Just completing the last finishing touches. Last minute editing and all that kind of stuff. Then Sly would send the film to the MPAA for them to watch and they decide what to rate it. It took a long time for the MPAA to rate it because they need to carefully see how much violence and language there is in the film, also, whether or not the film has nudity. With Sly Stallone films being bloody violent and controversial, he had to be careful not to make it an NC-17 rating. If it was too NC-17, then Sly would have to delete some scenes to make it R.

To learn how the MPAA rate stuff check their website here:

http://www.mpaa.org/ratings/what-each-rating-means

I think Sly came this close to making the last “Rambo” movie an NC-17 rating. So he had to cut some stuff out to make it, R rated. Fans are too obsessed with Sly making R rated action films ’cause that’s what he’s known for.

Sly tried other genres in his career but he fails at comedy and drama. I think he’s only successful doing action films. Everybody knows it. Honestly though, I don’t think Sly will do action movies for the rest of his life. He might try and do comedy or drama again, who knows. He’ll get too old for the action thing one day and I think he might hang it up at some point.

Can’t wait for “The Expendables” because I’ve been waiting too long for this film like everyone else! The UFC is already heavily promoting the film which is no surprise, there are three different UFC guys in the film.

The A-Team vs. The Expendables, which movie will be more successful???

This is one of the most popular arguments and debates in Hollywood right now. “The A-Team” remake vs. “The Expendables”, which film will make the most money in the box office this summer? Some of you may wonder what my thoughts are on this. What do I think will win in the box-office? Honestly, this answer may shock some of you. Knowing that I’m a huge fan of Sylvester Stallone and tough guy action stars…sorry to say…but I’m gonna go with…

The A-Team…

Yes, that’s right. I said it. “The A-Team” will be more successful than “The Expendables”. “The Expendables” will do well in the box office, but they won’t do great. “The Expendables” will never be as big as “Avatar” or the “Dark Knight” if that’s what everyone is hoping. NO fucking way. I think “The Expendables” will do average in the box office just like the last “Rocky” and “Rambo” did average.

Why would the “A-Team” be more successful? Simply because, the original “A-Team” series was such a popular hit on TV back in those days. “The A-Team” movie would be something for the entire family to watch, while the “Expendables” would have an audience mostly of 20-30 something colleged aged males who loves action movies and tough guys. “The A-Team” is a family action film. See my point? “The A-Team” would be a huge box office money maker for many reasons. Not only it would be a family action film, it seems that remakes are hits these days. “The A-Team” would be a movie that a lot of women would see just to see Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper play in the film.

Why would the “Expendables” fail? Simply because, not many people want to see old washed up muscle has beens all in one movie. The only people that do want to see the film is their fellow bodybuilders who aren’t famous, young college guys, and the few action movie fans that are left around. Plus, I don’t think a lot of people would pay just to see Sly, Arnie and Bruce in a really small scene when everyone wants to see them throughout the entire movie.

I’m betting my money that the A-Team will do very good. I look forward to seeing both films, don’t get me wrong. Don’t expect Stallone to be successful with this one. Honestly, the plot and the acting in the “Expendables” looks kinda silly when the “A-Team” looks more interesting. I’ve always been a huge “A-Team” fan my whole life so of course, I will see this one in theater too. The only reason, “The Expendables” will make some bucks is because of all them stars in one movie. I’m very sure “The Expendables” would bomb terribly if Sly hired a cast full of unknown actors, instead of a movie full of icons.
