People in facebook are misinformed with fitness & bodybuilding… it’s crazy as hell!!!

I appreciate that people want to change their lives by trying to get some exercise in their lives to look fit and healthy but I really believe many in facebook don’t know what they’re doing at all. A few people know what they’re doing and smart at fitness but most people are just real dumb.

Reasons being it’s great that they want to lift weights, do bodyworkouts or just do cardio but what they are mostly misinformed about is the nutrition. A lot of people don’t want to eat clean. Eating clean is key to reaching your dreams and goals. If you workout and just eat what you want… you’re not gonna succeed.

I see a lot of posts in facebook that people dream of getting a six pack abs. Six pack abs is so easy to get. It’s a piece of cake and I got a six pack successfully with no problems. How did I get a six pack? Simply by not eating a lot. I still eat 4 to 5 meals a day but I watch my calorie count. I also do quite a lot of cardio mostly bike riding and sometimes jogging. Cardio is also key to losing body fat. To get six pack abs, you must lower the bodyfat that’s covering it.

I don’t do ab workouts anymore. I think ab workouts are a waste of time and they don’t exactly work. Yes, I’m talking about crunches, planks, leg lifts  and all that phony stuff. You know that old quote through the fitness community, “Abs are made in the kitchen.”? Well, it’s true. If you eat clean meals… high protein/low carb stuff, eat healthy carbs, fiber, and you need to eat a lot of vegetables… do all that… you’ll be on your way to getting a six pack. I’ve been doing all of that.

I’ve always had low bodyfat ’cause I was never fat. If you’re overweight or a little chubby, it’ll obviously take a long time but if you keep at it and don’t give up the clean nutrition… you’ll succeed in no time. There’s a few women in facebook that I’ve seen who were first a little overweight but they lost a lot of weight and now they look really thin ’cause they knew what to do and they were smart at it.

People think they can lift weights and do body workouts… eat whatever you want but fitness doesn’t work that way.

Fitness and alcohol doesn’t mix either. When I first got into fitness like 4 or 5 years ago, I had to give up drinking alcohol and it works. It not only helps you lower the bodyfat percentage… no drinking helps you work out better with intensity ’cause alcohol can slow your body down… some people don’t realize that.

It’s insane how people don’t wanna eat clean when they’re going to the gym and stuff. When you give them the advice that they should eat clean… they usually get defensive.

Eating clean most of the time will help give you muscle gains faster and will lose bodyfat. You don’t want to give up junk food completely, though. It’s good to reward yourself and junk food can be helpful but just don’t overdo it. I only have my junk food on the weekends only. Mostly pizza, chinese or ice cream on the weekends in the evening hours. While I gave up most junk food over the years, I still have a few cravings. I can’t give up my ice cream ’cause it’s my favorite!!!! It’s okay to have a few cheat meals or cheat days.

Again, getting low bodyfat is a piece of cake. So easy that anybody can do it. Watch who you take advice from in youtube and all the fitness gurus online ’cause a lot of it’s bullshit and that includes P90x.

To get fit, all it takes is to workout hard and eat real good. Eat your meats (I would recommend chicken breast and fish), veggies, whole grains, healthy fats, etc.

I’m in good shape and proud of myself. Changing your nutrition maybe scary but it’s worth it, trust me. Before I got into fitness, I was addicted to junk food and I had to knock it off — take better care of myself. I don’t really want to look like a big bodybuilder. I just want a medium sized built and I’m happy just the way I am now. Eat clean and change your life. Eating healthy things is not that bad.

To the people of Albany… vote for Jesse Calhoun as Mayor today…

A Capital District local musician is running for Mayor and the voting is today. To those living in Albany… please vote for Jesse Calhoun and not that idiot liberal, Sheehan. Jesse’s political views is good stuff and he could change Albany around in a good way.

If you know the local music scene well, Jesse is the main frontman for the band, the Ameros. You may  have heard of ’em.

About the Jammy Awards that is being held at Trickshots…

Remember the Jammy Awards show that I talked about which is being taken place at Trickshots later this month? Well,  there’s another similar event already going on with the similar name. There’s a much BIGGER “Jammy Awards” show in NYC… check it out, here.

Here’s a couple of questions that I’m wondering:

  1. Was Tier One Talent, the organizer behind the Jammys at Trickshots aware of prior use of the copyrighted name of “the Jammy Awards”???
  2. Did Tier One Talent already know about the one in NYC and they stole the idea?

Just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention.

Film Review: Gravity…

gravity-movie-poster-closeup

Starring: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

Directed by: Alfonso Cuaron

Today, I finally saw the movie, “Gravity”… the outer space movie and here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: Two astronauts, Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) who is an expert medical engineer on her first space mission and Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) who is a veteran on the way to retirement was on a mission but their shuttle was destroyed leaving Stone and Kowalsky the only survivors. They try their best to survive and return home to Earth safely but of course things get a lot worse.

I understand that Sandra Bullock isn’t everyone’s favorite actress. I was never a fan of hers myself but after seeing this movie, I am now absolutely in love with Sandra! A lot of people want to judge her by her past work in Hollywood. There are people negatively criticizing Sandra saying stuff that they refuse to see this movie ’cause they think her acting is bad. I mean, come on? After finally seeing this movie… Sandra really showed her acting talent. She proved that she “CAN” act. Without a shadow of a doubt, I think she has an Oscar coming for this role whether you like it or not. Before negatively judging her, you should actually see this film. You’d be surprised of Sandra. I thought she did an amazing job. Plus, she was sexy as hell in the film too!

As for the film itself… I honestly thought it was the best film released in 2013. It’s a true science fiction movie at it’s best. It’s a pretty realistic story… something that can happen in real life. I’m sure NASA has already dealt with similar situations like this in real life. I’m sure NASA had plenty of accidents and plenty of astronauts were killed. Remember, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster? If not, look it up. Everyone dreams of wondering what it’s like to be out in space but this film wants to give you a reality check that being out in space is not all that fun as you think. It wants to show you how dangerous space can be.

The film may have only two people throughout but the film was still amazing. The script was perfect. The visuals were phenomenal, and the score was excellent as well.

Clooney’s acting is great as always but Sandra steals the show here.

This was a beautiful movie and it blew me away. The film has a mix of emotions. It can be very scary and frightening at times — it can also get funny/comedic and very sad.

I would strongly suggest you check this movie out before it stops playing. See it in 3D. This is the best 3D movie, in my opinion.

Two thumbs up.

Youtube has really gone downhill… wtf???

I’m really starting to lose my appreciation for youtube. The popular video site has really gone downhill ever since google bought it. I liked youtube better before. Reasons why youtube has gone to shit???

  • Their new youtube awards is silly
  • They’re planning a paid music subscription service
  • VEVO music videos pretty much sucks
  • Being forced to watch advertisements before a video you want to watch
  • They’re getting tough on copyright so musicians will no longer be able to perform cover songs
  • It’s getting harder to send private messages to other youtube channels if you want to write somebody something.

I’m sure there’s more but you get the deal here, right?

I don’t use youtube that much to upload videos to. I’m thinking about going to a different video site. Vimeo maybe? I’ll probably continue to use youtube to upload my homemade videos but I probably won’t upload cover songs anymore to avoid getting a third party notice in your inbox from youtube.

Youtube is pretty much garbage now.

There’s only very few channels of other youtubers that I like to follow. I may have subscribed to a lot of channels but I don’t watch through all of them.

Youtube used to be a cool site before google bought it, though.

Are you surprised that Obama lied about Obamacare? That’s all the man ever does is lie, lie, lie…

The latest controversy in Obamacare is that Obama is caught in a huge lie in which he promised that Americans can keep their health insurance if they sign up with Obamacare but sure enough… turns out to be a huge lie. This lie is turning into a big media frenzy and is all over the net.

You see, Obama never believed in telling the truth. He has a huge obsession with lying. He told a lot of other lies about Obamacare. He lied about Benghazi, Gitmo, his birthplace, his religion, lied about wars, drones, and this list is endless.

Richard Nixon got into a lot of trouble for lying his head off but Obama gets away with it all… it’s unfair. When will the liberal media and US government stop protecting this asshole? When will people realize that this man is nothing but an evil dictator? You think after all the lies that Obama told us over the years, you still believe that Obama had nothing to do with Benghazi and don’t think he was born in Kenya? You serious?

Yes, I know another political post but I had to make this one short and get it out of the way.

Is America ready for our first female president??? I don’t know…

I’m not trying to be hateful or sexist toward women but I’m honestly skeptical of women becoming president. America is dying for our first female president but honestly, I have mixed feelings about that. Questions you have to ask yourself. Do you think a woman is strong enough to handle the stress and all the workload? Do you think she can deal with being busy 24/7…doing loads of paperwork and having all kinds of meetings? Do you think she can handle being the Commander In Chief for the military and do you think she can control the wars that we could have coming up? Do you think you can trust her? Do you think she has what it takes for the job? Do you think a woman president can handle all the bad publicity with the media, conspiracy theories made about her, and the awful rumors? I’m pretty sure being president is not always a happy job. You will be on your good days and bad days in the oval office for sure.

Americans were at-first excited for our first black man president but he ended up turning out to be a disgrace. Don’t be surprised if the woman president turns out disgraceful as well.

I don’t know. I don’t think a woman can handle the job.

This is not just aimed directly at Hillary Clinton, it’s basically aimed at all women politicians in general. I don’t know… if they can’t handle the job they could get impeachment and removal from office pretty quick. They could have a negative backlash in a lot of things. Will she be honest? Will she stay faithful to the Constitution?

With all this being said, I’m not all that excited of a woman becoming president… it sounds pretty risky for our country.

As far as Hillary goes… if she gets elected in 2016… then we just elected a cold-blooded murderer. Be aware folks… when the 2016 election comes… I’m gonna be all over Hillary Clinton to help bring the attention to others that they shouldn’t vote for a murderer. Nobody is ever gonna forget about Benghazi. I’m hoping Benghazi will ruin her chances in running for President but I have a feeling she’s gonna get elected anyways and we will be even more doomed than ever before. There’s a lot of liberals out there that support Hillary like she’s some kind of hero… that’s because liberals are so dumb and unintelligent. They don’t wanna wake up on Benghazi and they’ll defend Hillary on everything just like they defend Obama on everything. Republicans/conservatives call her Killary for a reason. Think how Killary can murder more people after she’s elected. I’m hoping Killary will be exposed for Benghazi even before the election happens… the sooner, the better.

A woman president is kind of scary, in my opinion. I do like Sarah Palin but even I think she’s not fit for the job either.

I think it’s better that a president should stay as male.

Who would I want as President in 2016? It’s too early to say but I got my eyes set on Rand Paul for now. He maybe a libertarian but he’s got my full respect.

The importance of gear at gigs…

I don’t have a lot of experience in playing in full bands at actual gigs. As a matter of fact, I have no experience at all in playing in a full band. I have more experience of playing solo acoustic gigs so I think that gives me the right to talk about how bands use gear at live shows. I have seen so many full band gigs and have been part of the music scene for years so I have the right to talk about this stuff all I want to.

You see… it is pretty amazing to me on how a lot of bands are pretty careless about their gear. Gear is probably the most important thing in your music career. You must take gear and equipment seriously. I have seen lots of bands that continuously have technical issues when playing on stage. Partly because a lot of musicians are pretty careless about their gear. If you want to prevent technical issues at your gigs… then you must take more responsibly and have more care for your gear.

Bands always make the mistake of bringing just one piece of instrument. They always bring one guitar, one amplifier, one bass and everything else. The key to preventing technical issues is that you must always bring spares. Bring spares of everything. Don’t always bring one instrument and one amp. Always have an extra one. Bring extra instrument cables, microphones, etc. That way if things go wrong and if your instrument/amp goes out… you can quickly replace it. Spares are pretty important. I see lots of bands that don’t bother bringing spares. When something goes out… another band will let them borrow their equipment. It’s always important to bring extra spares of everything ’cause there will be a point where other musicians won’t be able to borrow their stuff. There will also be times where you won’t get a hold of anyone to help give you a replacement… so keep things in mind.

Also before performing the gig… you must make sure everything’s working correctly. Take better care of your equipment. Don’t store your instruments in places where it has bad temperature. Instruments can go bad when you store them in very cold and very hot places. Don’t be rough on your gear… handle them with care especially the more expensive gear. It’s amazing to me that a lot of bands don’t take care of their equipment.

When you’re on stage and when you need to set your guitar down for something… set ’em on a guitar stand. Bring guitar stands. Don’t lay them on the floor or have the guitars or basses leaning against the wall. I see this stuff at band shows pretty often. Guitar stands shouldn’t cost that much.

Also, when you’re buying gear for your shows… don’t always buy cheap equipment ’cause they are bound to go bad quick. When you want to play in a band on a professional level… you have to look like pros and not amateurs. Buy good gear. The good stuff that sounds good. I’m not saying that you have to buy equipment around the $1,000 – $5,000 price range… all you need are guitars/amps that are around the $500 – $800 price range. Don’t always use the same guitar and amp all of the time ’cause the more you play on it the worse it gets.

Get yourself a good soundman who knows what he’s doing. If the venue you’re playing already provides a soundman then that should be good enough.

Another way to play a successful show smoothly with no problems is to never take a long time tuning between songs. I see bands do this and they really need to stop it. Take a long time tuning in between songs. Nobody wants to hear this. The audience is there to see you rock out… not to hear you waste time tuning. I understand certain songs are in different tunings but to avoid tuning for a long time in between songs then you must think about using more than one guitar. Tune the other guitar that the song is in and you can easily switch instruments without having to worry about tuning. Other options that you can do… there are all kinds of tuning equipment that will tune you automatically or even better you need to learn how to tune more quickly. You need to practice tuning quickly and silently at home. Learn to practice tuning by ear.

When I go see a live band show… I’m paying good money to see them and I expect them to run it smoothly but a lot of them are pretty lousy at running a show. They play the music good, indeed but they need to take more responsibility for the show itself.

If things go wrong and things don’t go smoothly… you will make the audience bored and disappointed. They could walk back to the bar or leave the show and the next thing you know… you’ll see the people talking all kinds of negative stuff about your band online ’cause you didn’t run it smoothly. You don’t want that would ya?

I have good enough equipment to form a band of my own. I have a few professional amplifiers and a few guitars actually so I’m all set. I can form a band or join a band anytime I want to now.

This post isn’t directed at any band in particular… I’m not calling any of them out. I just want to see them run their shows better.

Gear is pretty important, folks. Don’t always act like they’re nothing.

LAX shooting thoughts…

I’m sure some of you want my thoughts about that 23 year old  kid who shot a TSA agent at LAX in Los Angeles… well here are my thoughts…

Honestly, it’s no surprise that something like that would happen at an airport. Especially a gun free zone airport and since LAX is very tight with security. No matter how strict you make the gun laws and no matter how tight security is… somebody will always find their way around to commit a shooting and this is proof of it. Even though the TSA are pretty evil people — I can’t stand ’em myself — this still shouldn’t have to happen ’cause they are obviously human beings but this incident shouldn’t come as a shock to you either.

A lot of people in facebook are saying that this maybe staged by the US Government… and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Obama administration had something to do with this one.

Next thing you know, Obama will probably go on live TV the next few days to make a response to the LAX shooting… saying that he will work his way to make gun control tougher. Even if the background checks didn’t workout for Obama as he hoped… he’s probably going to find out other ways. Like I said… it doesn’t matter how tough you make the laws. People are still going to commit gun shootings.

The LAX shooting is a sad story but we’re gonna keep getting violence. They’re just gonna keep getting worse as long as Obama is still sitting in the White House. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the TSA agent who was killed, though. The shooting at LAX could have been worse.

Why local media is crap at promoting local music…

While there is a lot of local talent around here from acoustic acts to full bands and the music scene here is lacking, there is a lot of local media around here trying to promote local music. The internet is pretty big for local music. There are plenty of online websites dedicated to promoting local music and there are other promoters trying to promote local music on various blogs too. Not only the internet promotes local music… we also have a few radio stations and sometimes TV helps promote local music. Of course, we also have local newspapers/magazines that try to help.

I appreciate that these people are trying to promote local music the best they can and trying to get us recognized as a music scene… but to be honest, I pretty much find most of these local media outlets around here is garbage. I find the local media around here to be a smaller version of Rollingstone and MTV. Journalism around this area can be just as horrible.

There is a couple of things that bother me about local media trying to promote local music:

  1. There are too many talented musicians and bands around here struggling to get recognized but local media completely ignores them.
  2. So called journalists and radio hosts around here like to make themselves look better and smarter than the artist they’re trying to promote.
  3. During interviews… the interviewer can never think of original and interesting questions. I’m sure musicians are getting real tired of getting asked: “When did you start playing music?”, “How did your band form?”, “What is your songwriting process like?”, “What music artist influenced you?”, “What is this song about?” etc. blah blah blah, you get the deal.

So if you’re a music artist or in a band… when you get a write up somewhere online, in the paper, or had an interview on the radio… do you think these guys really care for you? I don’t think they really do ’cause all of these companies care about is money pretty much. The thing is… local media would promote an artist or band only if they created a huge buzz in the scene. If you have a large following and get a buzz going… that’s when the local media will eat that artist/band up. They obsess with bands/artists with a large following or if they got a buzz going ’cause they know that will help sell their newspapers, get more ratings for radio or more views for their websites. That’s all these phonies care about… period. End of story.

It’s not really about how talented they are or how good their music is… it’s about the popularity they obsess with. They ignore the struggling and lesser known musicians ’cause they know that the struggling musicians won’t help sell.

Now somebody will probably come around and call me jealous but I’m not. I’m only speaking from experience about this stuff. I’ve had write-ups in a few newspapers before and I did a radio-interview once–to be honest, I don’t really like how they all came out. You expect the interviews or write-ups to be the way you want it and hoping it will come out good but it’s usually how they want it. The local media is really about promoting themselves and not you. Right? Think about it. When you get a write up or an interview… they are the star and not you.

I don’t do a lot of interviews ’cause nobody really asked me and I don’t really care to do them. If I was ever asked to do an interview… I’d be all for it but it must be worth it. I must warn you, though, if I was ever interviewed for a newspaper or radiostation or whatever… I’m gonna be no different like you see me on here. I’m still gonna be outspoken, honest, tough, and controversial. If you don’t like me on the internet, you probably won’t like me in person. I’m the same guy… on the computer and off.

You see, when I promote artists and bands on my site sometimes… I tend to do tings a little differently. I promote artists and bands not because they have a large following and they got a buzz going. I promote them simply because I dig the music. If their music is good and they got my attention… then it’s worthy for a shout-out on this blog.

I know I started a new thing a while back where I was going to review stuff from bands/artists around this area and the world but I honestly stopped doing the reviews of local acts ’cause too much stuff kept coming in and it got a bit overwhelming for me. I didn’t have time to review every project that was submitted to me…and on top of that… most of the stuff sent to me weren’t that good anyways. I’ll still review local bands/artists and promote their stuff on here but only if I “dig” the music and think it’s worth it.

Back to the topic of local media, I’m not bashing the bands/artists… I’m bashing the journalists and promoters around here. They don’t do it well. They really need to let the artist/bands get a chance to shine instead of jerking themselves off, ya know?

I’m a big local music supporter. I respect all talent… in all levels and all styles. They don’t have to be popular acts either.

Local music shouldn’t be a popularity contest. We’re not celebrities or rock stars and that’s how local media treats musicians around here which is laughable, in my opinion. If you want to promote local music… a true way of supporting the scene… then set your ego aside and support it all. I mean all of it. Stop being so opinionated and respect all talent — even me. In my eyes, there’s no such thing as a “big” and “established” acts. We’re just musicians enjoying what we do. That’s it.
