Cool Photo: So is Patrick Stewart returning to X-Men after all???

Earlier last year, it was reported that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart is returning to Bryan Singer’s, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” film. It was confirmed that Ian is set to return as Magneto, but Patrick denied it and said it wasn’t true, at first. It appears that Patrick maybe reprising his role as Professor X. Look like Patrick is in negotiations with Singer, check out this photo that Singer tweeted, here.

Still looking good there Cpt. Picard! Speaking of Cpt. Picard, I went back to watching Star Trek: TNG on Netflix (after completing, “House of Cards”), and I’m just starting Season 3.

Where was Harrison Ford while the internet blew up with rumors that he may return to Star Wars???

harrison-ford-family-vacation-after-star-wars-7-news-02

Yep, there is Harrison with his wife Calista, and their son, vacationing in Rio De Janeiro in, Brazil. Maybe that’s why Harrison himself couldn’t comment on whether or not he’s reprising his role as Han Solo in Star Wars 7? I’m sure Harrison will say something about it soon, though, when the press will start bugging him about it. I think Harrison will start talking about the Star Wars return in interviews when he starts promoting his next movie, “Ender’s Game”.

Despite his age though, Harrison is STILL gonna look great as Han Solo, and I’m sure he still has what it takes to play the role again just fine. We will still get the same Han Solo, we always had. When he returns to Star Wars, he won’t disappoint us, I’m sure, and he’ll make it so that his age is unimportant. We’re still gonna get that likeable wisecracking smuggler!!!

He’ll do fine in his Han Solo, return! 😉

Harrison Ford, rumored to return as Han Solo for Episode VII…

Rumors hit hard on the internet today, that Harrison Ford has signed on to reprise his role as Han Solo for Episode 7. It wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out to be true, because every time Lucasfilm/Disney wants to announce news, the internet leaks it earlier, and then Lucasfilm/Disney will confirm the news themselves. That’s exactly what happened when it was announced that Disney bought Lucasfilm and JJ Abrams was going direct it. Can the internet give them a break and let them give the news first for once? LOL! Technology, gotta love it!

If it’s true that Harrison officially signed on, that’s good. I’m all for him coming back ’cause it isn’t Star Wars without Han Solo.

Yes, he is too old but in Star Wars age doesn’t make a difference. Sir Alec Guinness was about that age when he played Obi Wan in the first movie, nobody complained about his age back then. The same with Liam Neeson as Qui Con Jinn and Christopher Lee as Count Dooku.

It may seem silly to have Harrison coming back, but we need him if they are going to continue after Jedi. He maybe old yes, but I’m sure the writers have found something for Han Solo, so his story won’t sound creepy and weird. Maybe the new Han Solo for Episode 7 can have a similar character like what Obi Wan did in “A New Hope”. Han Solo can simply be a mentor for somebody. Maybe Han and Leia has a family together now. They have children now and Luke can train them to be Jedi’s.

I’m sure Harrison is still capable of doing action scenes just fine. Give him a break.

Film Review: Identity Thief

Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman

Directed by: Seth Gordon

A lot of people are saying, “Identity Thief”, is one of the funniest comedies made in a long time. So after hearing some people say it was a funny movie, I decided to go check out the film myself today. So here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman), who is a business man and a family man, finds out that he is a victim of an identity theft after losing his job and almost everything in his life. He finds out who this identity thief is, who turns out to be this mysterious woman who have been using up all of his credit cards and personal information. Since law enforcement refuses to do anything about it, Sandy, decides to do something about it himself, by traveling all the way from Denver to Miami to confront the thief. After he finally picks her up, on the way back to Denver, Sandy isn’t the only victim who tries to confront her. Other victims tries to confront her as well, but they are dangerous criminals who are out for revenge.

My thoughts, is that this wasn’t the funniest film ever that people made it out to be. There were a few funny scenes. I laughed at a few scenes, but not throughout the entire film. I thought the script was kind of a mess. Unrealistic and most of it was kind of silly. I don’t really care for Jason Bateman. I do remember the guy from “Arrested Development” and “Silver Spoons”, but he was never a good actor.

I do have a few positives with the film, though. First of all, Melissa McCarthy was very enjoyable and likeable. She did steal the show and she was the best part of the film. I just wish they gave  the film a better script. Secondly, I liked the Robert Patrick appearance, he played the main villain. He was one of the criminals who tried to go after them.

This film was more like an action comedy. It had a lot of action in it. I was actually pretty impressed with the car chases toward the end of the film. That was another good part of it.

On top of that, buddy movies where they have two big stars team up together have been done in comedy too many times. “Plains Trains, & Automobiles”, “Rush Hour”, “Midnight Run”, “Beverly Hills Cop”, and the list goes on and on. This film “Identity Thief” seems like a rehash and a rip off of all those movies. So a film like this is nothing new and original.

Don’t get me wrong, “Identity Thief”, was an okay film, just nothing I would watch again. It was an alright film. And Rex Reed, that slammed her for her weight in his review, needs to shut his mouth. I think it’s wrong to criticize the weight on big women ’cause they can be beautiful. I’ll have another topic about that soon.

Score for, “Identity Thief” = ** (2 stars as in “Okay”)

Thought: Why a stand alone Han Solo movie, deserves to be told…

I know a lot of Star Wars geeks are probably pissed off at Disney for confirming a Han Solo standalone movie, but I think that story deserves to be told for a lot of reasons. They didn’t just green  light a Han Solo standalone for no reason, folks. It’s not just for money and hyping up Star Wars, I think a back story for Han Solo deserves to be told. Why?

Well for starters, we need to know more details of why Han became a smuggler and all that stuff. We need to know more details on his past with Jabba the Hut, on why he associated with him, in which Episodes “IV, V, and VI”, never did. What about Han’s friendship with Lando Calrissian? How did he get together with Chewbacca? What about Han’s childhood?

Doing a little research on Han’s childhood, he was born on the planet, Corellia, and he was an orphan, so he had no parents. Instead, he was raised by a criminal named Garis Shrike, which could probably explain why Han became a smuggler. I would think the movie would tell that story. According to the info, Han got the Millenium Falcon from Lando by winning a card game. So I would think that scene would be in the film too.

Lando, will probably be a huge part of the movie, so he will be played by a younger actor. That’s about all I’ve read about Han’s past, but I’m sure the writers will add a lot more material. Did Han have a lover growing up before he met Leia? Who knows. They’ll probably get Han involved in a love interest, wouldn’t surprise me.

I think a Han Solo, stand alone would be pretty cool, if made right. So hopefully they do a good job with this one too. I also hope they pick a good actor to play him. There’s no way Harrison Ford could have a cameo in this, but he would probably reprise his role as Han Solo for Episodes “7, 8, and 9”, though.

Star Wars stand alone movies…

Well, Disney made another announcement which is no surprise actually that they plan on making Star Wars stand alone movies for other characters and other stories. Yes, they are still doing episodes “7, 8, and 9”, but they are doing stand alone movies as well. The first stand alone movie they announced, was that Yoda is getting his own film.

I know it seems crazy that Disney is planning Star Wars stand alone films, but like I said before, with the “Star Wars” universe, you could create a whole new generation of stories. That’s what the Star Wars novels and the comics has done.

I would like to see Boba Fett get his own movie, and he probably will. It would be interesting to get some insight on the Boba Fett character and get a back story of him. How he joined the Empire and why he became Darth’s sidekick. Would be interesting. They already did stuff like that with several novels based on the Boba Fett character.

As a matter of fact, Lucasfilm already did Star Wars spin off from the past, I remember, “Ewoks: The Battle for Endor”. Of course, we got the animated Star Wars films as well.

They could do all kinds of stuff with Star Wars.

Sylvester Stallone… could “Bullet to the Head” be a big hit???

So Sly’s new action movie, “Bullet to the Head” directed by Walter Hill, comes out this Friday, and yes, I will probably end up going to check it out. Only thing though, this is the first Sly action film that has nothing to do with Rambo or the Expendables, in a long long while. Before Sly brought Rocky, Rambo back to the big screen, he was in a big career slump. Then after the success of Rocky and Rambo, he brought us the Expendables with two movies.

Could Sly still be the box office king with “Bullet to the Head”? Not so sure about that one, honestly. This film could be a potential bomb. Not saying it will suck, it’s probably gonna be a badass action flick, but I don’t think Sly will be the box office king outside of Rambo & The Expendables. Who knows, though. Maybe, “Bullet” will do good in box office.

Sly has another movie coming out later this year called, “The Tomb”, in which he stars with Arnold.

A lot of people want to mistakenly think that Sly doesn’t care to be a successful actor, but of course, he does. The man works real hard, and he does take his work seriously. When an actor does a movie, you can never tell whether it will be a hit or a bomb. I’ll admit that Sly has made many bad flicks like, “Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot”, “Rhinestone”, “Judge Dredd”, “The Specialist”, “Driven”, etc., but that’s not his fault. The man even admits that he doesn’t like some of the movies he’s starred in as well.

Sly is still my favorite actor. I just think the man is a badass. He looks cool and I enjoy his acting style. The man is an inspiration to me, and I still hope to one day, meet him in person.

Disney/Lucasfilm confirms JJ is on board to direct “Star Wars 7″…

The Star Wars official site confirmed that JJ is indeed on board to direct, “Star Wars 7”, after the Wrap leaked the news early.

See more, here.

Lets pray they do a good job. It’ll be interesting to see how they’re gonna pull this off. While JJ is not really my favorite director in the world, it’s better getting him than Michael Bay, M. Night Shyamalan, McG, or Brett Ratner. Anybody but those guys.

Lets hope the Empire will still be the main villains. I want to see the Stormtroopers. Of course, since JJ is on board, he might make Stormtroopers a little different than George’s versions. Oh yeah, and the Millennium Falcon, needs to make an appearance in some way.

JJ will still produce “Star Trek III” and “MI: 5″…

Even if JJ signed on to direct “Star Wars 7”, he will still make “Star Trek III” and “Mission Impossible 5”, but will only serve as producer. I can’t blame him for jumping onto Star Wars, instead, though.

More on the story, here.

Can JJ save the Star Wars franchise after the crappy prequels? I think he possibly could. It would be great to see Luke Skywalker back as the leading character. Mark Hamill is not that old, now, he’s just 61. He’s still a young guy. I’m sure he can still do lightsaber fights  just fine. 🙂
