Report: Randy Blythe, Lamb of God singer, is finally a free man!!!

I’m pretty sure Lamb of God fans and the metal community are all jumping up and down, being all excited and stuff ’cause Randy Blythe is finally a free man. He’s been acquitted in Prague today!

More on the story, here.

As a Lamb of God fan myself, I’d say that’s good news. I saw Lamb of God in concert a few years back when they opened for Metallica. Now they can get back to doing music, work on a new album and go on tour soon.

My favorite song off the new Bowie album, so far…

Like I said before, the new Bowie album is a celebration of his career. The new album covers all styles of music that he has done in the past like rock, pop, dance, techno/electronica, etc. Everything’s on there. It feels like a greatest hits album almost, but with new original music, instead. It is a pretty strong album, and I’m feeling that this is going to be the best album of 2013. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’ll be buying the CD ’cause I want the cover art and all that stuff. I’m not gonna buy it off of Itunes.

This is a pretty sick song below. This song kinda goes back to his glitter rock days. I love Bowie’s vocals, he sounds angry throughout. Yeah, I’m a Bowie fanatic. Loved his music for years.

David Bowie’s “The Next Day” album review…

So David Bowie, is finally releasing his most anticipated album, “The Next Day” after a 10 year long wait for his return. David, agreed to let Itunes stream the new album for FREE. I gave the album a listen in Itunes today. When you take a long break from music, some people mistakenly believe musicians lose it with their musicianship and songwriting talent. Well, after giving this album a listen, David haven’t lost it at all. The man still has IT!

While David released his first single, “Where Are They Now”, fans worried that the album will be full of slow ballads. Turns out that most of the album is pretty rockin’! The album is full of guitar playing all the way through. There are only like two or three slow songs, but the slow songs are still really good. David’s guitar player, Earl Slick, has been playing guitars on David’s albums for years now. This album has Earl’s best playing, yet. This album also has David’s best singing. After listening to this album, I immediately thought that this album is a celebration of his music over the years in his career. The album has something for everyone on it. You want a tight rock n’ roll song that he had in the 70’s. You will hear a lot of that. You want to hear David’s dance & pop stuff (like he did with songs such as “Lets Dance”, “Golden Years”, etc.), there’s some of that on there as well. David still has that energy and intensity in his songs. It has an old school Bowie feeling.

After the long 10 year wait, David probably thought to himself… “My fans have waited too long, I better give them a rock album, something they’ve always wanted to hear”. This album is clearly for the fans who missed him during those 10 years. This album is David clearly saying to everyone, “I’m back and better than ever”.

I thought the album was absolutely amazing and incredible. It gave me goosebumps throughout. When I get my own copy of the album, I’m gonna be listening to it a lot. Welcome back, David, and please, don’t make us wait so long for your next record!

Scott Weiland’s, STP firing, sparks huge debate in music community…

All over the music community online, STP kicking out Scott Weiland, started this huge debate about his firing. There’s been pretty interesting discussions everywhere in facebook, other blogs, and music forums. Places like those. Of course, fans of Stone Temple Pilots, are upset that the band kicked out their leader. There is also a bunch of other people who blame this on Scott’s drug problems and think it’s his fault. As usual there is a mixture of opinions and responses when it comes to Scott’s firing… however, one thing that we all came to an agreement on is that Scott Weiland IS, Stone Temple Pilots. Everyone also agrees, that Scott is irreplaceable.

I think the question that we’re all wondering is, can Scott be fired from something that he created himself? That’s the mystery there.

Heh, this feud reminds me of that movie, “School of Rock”, when Dewey Finn was kicked out of his own band that he created, so he went and formed a band on his own, and wrote a song about it. “How can you kick me out of what is mine”, is the line from that song from the movie.

When you form your own band, can the other guys in the band, have the power to kick you out even if you’re the leader? That has always been debatable.

Here’s how Scott can’t be fired from his own group… as long as Scott owns some of the trademark of the Stone Temple Pilots name, and as long as he owns the copyright for a lot of STP songs, those reasons alone are why he can’t leave. Scott Weiland DOES own part of the trademark for the STP band name, I looked it up on the trademark website, and it’s filed under his name along with the other 3 members listed. All 4 members of the band, share the name. So as long as Scott’s name is a registrant for the trademark, he has the power to sue and take full control of the name if they battle it out in court, if he wanted to.

Lets say if you own a business, and your employees, hate your guts and want you gone, they can’t do anything to get rid of you, since you’re the owner. Well, it’s the same thing with a band, ya know?

Scott can’t leave unless he chooses to. I’m a Stone Temple Pilots fan, sure, but I only loved their first three albums. Their newer stuff aren’t that good. STP is Scott’s band. Always has been. The other members can be replaceable, but not their leader who has always been an important member. This is interesting and I’m going to be following this feud. Looking forward to seeing how it’s gonna end. Will Scott and the band resolve their differences behind the scenes, or will they take it to the court room? Who knows.

Scott Weiland, quick to respond to STP firing…

Scott Weiland was quick to put out a statement for the public, after learning about his firing from STP.

Weiland’s statement: “I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press,” Weiland said in a statement. “Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday.”

From MTV News.

It is kind of sad that he was fired by hearing about it from the press and not from the guys themselves. Bunch of cowards. I guess, I’m siding with Scott on this, ’cause he does bring up a good point that you can’t kick someone out when that person is the creator, ya know? Scott really did form STP himself, if you do your research. He was the one who found the other three guys himself.

Like I said before, Scott’s voice defines the band’s sound, so he is irreplaceable. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like the guy or don’t agree with his drug problems, you can’t kick out their creator.  It looks like Scott may see the rest of the guys in the court room soon. Other than that, Scott doesn’t seem all that hurt being kicked out ’cause he is moving right on to his solo tour which starts this weekend.

I wouldn’t really blame this on Scott’s drug problems. Don’t speculate, when you don’t know what’s going on.

Thought: About Scott Weiland being officially fired from STP…

So Stone Temle Pilots, made it official that Scott Weiland is no longer, the lead singer. They put out a small statement saying the singer has been officially terminated. I’m sure you’re wondering my thoughts, so I would give it briefly. I’m sure a lot of people want to blame it on the drugs. It probably is the drugs, but I’m sure it’s more than that. You see, Scott has a huge ego problem, and he seems to be a huge dick toward other band members, which is how Scott got booted from, Velvet Revolver. I think Scott Weiland is a talented rock n’ roll singer, he’s one of the best out there, but you can’t deny that he is a bit of a douchebag. Scott and Dean Deleo has been feuding on and off for a while now, and looks like they aren’t getting along again.

On top of that, the Stone Temple Pilots aren’t a relevant band anymore to begin with. Their first three albums “Core”, “Purple”, and “Tiny Music…” were really phenomenal and amazing, but everything after “Tiny Music…”, the band went downhill.

Scott will probably try to go back to Velvet Revolver, but it’s pretty unlikely they’ll want him back at all. Scott will try to find another band to join, but I don’t think other bands will want him either after what happened with Velvet Revolver and STP. Scott needs to learn what karma is all about. You become a drug addict, all kinds of bad karma will come out of it, everywhere you go.

I just wish Scott would get himself clean, so he won’t end up dead or back to prison again. He is a talented guy, he just needs a lot of help. I don’t see how STP is going to continue on without Scott ’cause Scott is STP. Scott’s voice is the reason for the band’s grungy sound. I don’t think he’s replaceable so they may as well break up the band again, if they’re gonna get rid of him.

Happy Birthday, Johnny Cash….

When someone ask other people, “What is your favorite Johnny Cash song?”, my response to that would always be, “All of them, I don’t see how you could like just one Johnny Cash song”. It’s true. I loved all of Johnny’s music. Everything from the Sun recordings, all the Columbia stuff, and of course, the American era. I even loved all of Johnny’s gospel music too! Originally Johnny never wanted to be a country star. He originally wanted to be big in gospel music. He was forced to play country music ’cause it was the only way he could break into the industry, since gospel didn’t sell back in the day. Later in the years, Johnny focused on gospel more. As you noticed, all the American recordings weren’t country at all. The 6 American albums he did were mostly gospel influenced, and he did covers of modern songs but they were gospel like. He always hated the country genre, but he was dragged into it. He kept the country thing going through the years ’cause it was the only way for him to make a living and he wanted to be known for his music.

He has always been an incredible artist and a longtime favorite of mine. He was an inspiration to me too. Of course, I loved all the stuff he did with June Carter.

RIP, Johnny.

Cool Video: David Bowie releases another new song, “The Stars Are Out Tonight”…

Bowie just released this new song and I absolutely love it! It’s got that old school Bowie feeling, sounds kinda 80s’ like. I like the video too. As you can see Bowie did a little bit of acting in this video before the song even starts, and Bowie still has his acting chops as well!

I can’t wait for the new Bowie album. Can’t believe it. Two big albums I’m looking forward to in 2013. The new David Bowie record, and I’m also looking forward to the new Black Sabbath one as well.

Enjoy.

Nine Inch Nails reforms with new members (again) for tour later this year…

So Trent Reznor announced today that the Nine Inch Nails are coming back, but with a totally different lineup of members. Only two past members will return. I was never that big of a NIN fan, but I heard a lot of their songs before on the radio and stuff. I never bought their albums. I remember back in 2009, Trent wanted the NIN to disappear for a while, then during the 4 year hiatus, he took some time to start scoring some films. The first film he scored for was David Fincher’s “The Social Network” which earned him an Oscar for BEST SCORE, and then he composed the music for Fincher’s “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. Now, it seems that Trent has missed the rock n’ roll and wants to get back into it. Even though I never bought albums by the NIN, I do respect the band. Trent is a pretty talented guy.

Will there be a new NIN album in the works soon? So far, no news on that yet, just a tour announcement for now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they do have an album planned in the future. Trent said he wants to start NIN’s from scratch, so they probably will do a new album.

This is good news, though!

Happy 46th Birthday, Kurt Cobain…

Today marks, Kurt’s 46th Birthday. I have always been a huge Nirvana fan. Have been during my high school years, and still am a big Nirvana fan now. I love all of their albums. Every song they did was great.

In facebook and other social networking sites, there have been all kinds of shit talk and hate toward Kurt & Nirvana all day. Of course, the Kurt & Nirvana bashing usually starts whenever the day lands on Kurt’s birthday or his date of death in April. I don’t see how you can hate Nirvana. To me, they were an important part of the music industry. Love ’em or hate ’em, they were a huge part of our lives and they inspired all of us. MTV were largely responsible for making them huge & mainstream, thanks to their “Teen Spirit” video. Their videos is what made them for who they were. It’s too early for Nirvana to be eligible enough to make a Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame nomination, but they are getting pretty close to it though. They have a few more years left, I think.

I remember back in the day during my high school years, I just couldn’t wait to get home. Turn on the TV, and immediately switch it to MTV, hoping for the next Nirvana video to air. Whether it would be “Teen Spirit”, “Come As You Are”, “Lithium”, “Rape Me”, “All Apologies”, etc. I’m a big Nirvana fanatic. I just loved Kurt’s songwriting. While their music was really great, it was their live performances that mattered. They were the best live band, that would put on an incredible show. Just three guys rockin’ out on stage.

I can’t stand it when people hate Nirvana and bash their music. Why? Sure, most Nirvana songs were easy & simple chords, and Kurt wasn’t an opera singer, but he didn’t need to be. I love those kind of songwriters, who never took themselves too serious. They just wanted to write and play, regardless of the technical skills. Nirvana’s music was the Led Zeppelin of the 90’s to me. In high school, I would listen to “Nevermind” and “In Utero”, obsessively. Still listen to those two albums.

Kurt was a great talent. He maybe gone but his music is certainly never forgotten.
