Not a Cool Video: Susan Boyle wasn’t lip synching? Really? Of course, she was!!!

The internet is buzzing about this today, Susan Boyle choking during “O Holy Night” on the View. People immediately think it wasn’t a lip synched performance ’cause she stopped the singing in the middle of the song.

For proof that she was lip synching, at about 0:54, she makes this weird face while she was singing, as she made that face, her voice kept going. It definitely wasn’t live ’cause ABC didn’t air the whole performance, which I’m willing to bet they edited out the part where she really messed up.

I don’t think you need more proof than that, do ya?

Thought: Musicians in facebook really do have interesting social skills!

I know I talk quite a bit about how musicians and bands communicate with people in their facebook pages, but I’m the type of guy that is not afraid to be real about things. I have a personal facebook page and I do keep an eye on what they post in their statuses, so I know what I’m talking about. Facebook really helped exposed the egos & delusions of musicians in the social networking community.

Not only that bands & musicians think they are bigger than people who are not musicians and how they think they are talented, I am also noticing a lot of other weird things. Notice when they have a show coming up, they get all excited. When a gig comes up, bands will act like kids at an amusement fun park, it’s like, “Oh goodie, oh goodie, I have a show coming up, can’t wait!!!”.  Really? I know it’s great to have a gig, is it cool for bands to act like that? When I used to gig, I didn’t have that kind of attitude. Of course, I look forward to playing gigs, but I don’t get all that excited like it’s the best thing ever, if you know what I mean. Be an adult about these things. That’s part of being a professional.

It is also not cool that bands just want to play shows just to party and get drunk after. That’s just my opinion. Bands go, “Oh man, I’m going to get drunk and loaded at this show. Can’t wait!” It should be about the music. Not for the drinking. That’s part of being a professional.

Promotional material, bands seem to be going crazy over promotion and doing it wrong. Bands will keep posting shows in their statuses, more than once, trying to shove the show in people’s faces. Try to be careful bands, that people don’t like over promotion. All you need to do is post your gig in your status once. People aren’t stupid, they can read. Sending out a facebook invite is what that thing is for, so you don’t spam with advertisments that people don’t like. That’s part of being a professional.

Voting contests. Bands seems to be obsessing with these in their facebook pages as well. When a radiostation or some kind of online website has some type of voting thing where a band is entering something, they’ll beg their fans to vote more than once. Nothing wrong with asking people to vote for your band in hopes of winning a certain contest, but the contest begging is a no-no. It makes it look like you’re a kid asking your mother for a candy bar or something. That’s part of being a professional.

Bands should be using their facebook pages to promote stuff or just interact with your fans. I know of a few bands who run their facebook pages the way it should be done but most bands do it pretty lousy and amateurish. I could go on all day about this topic.

Report: Willie Nelson, not on the road again…

It’s no secret that Willie Nelson loves weed. He’s a party animal for sure. I’m sure he’s already smoked pot with Johnny Cash many times before and other fellow country singers. I’m pretty sure he’s got arrested for this many times in his life, so he’s used to getting busted. He would think this is no big deal to him. He’ll walk on this one and will be back on the road again.

TMZ, reports.

Cool Video: Did Matt Lauer and Kanye West quietly bury the hatchet behind the scenes???

Everyone knows about that heated feud between Matt Lauer vs. Kanye West on the “Today Show” that one morning. Well, Kanye showed up performing one of his new songs. He was obviously lip synching, but singers have to lip synch ’cause it would sound like shit if it was sung live outside. Matt was the one that gave Kanye the introduction, so Matt obviously had no problem giving him the introduction. If Matt still hated Kanye, Matt wouldn’t do it. So I think this is good enough proof that Kanye and Matt did indeed bury the hatchet privately.

Kanye looks like he’s having fun up there. Isn’t it weird how the public didn’t boo Kanye or throw bottles at him?

Top 5 Bands/Artists that deserves a comeback in the music business…

With the legendary Soundgarden being back, what are other artists and band’s that have either retired or have taken a hiatus that you want to come back? I can easily think of 5 artists/bands in the major label industry that deserves a comeback.

Here is the list:

1. David Bowie
(Bowie is my no 1. pick. He hasn’t released a new studio album with new material since, “Reality” in 2003. After that, he haven’t been doing any new music, no touring, no nothing. He just keeps releasing live albums, b-sides and re-issues of older albums, nothing new. Come on back, David, we miss you!)

2. The White Stripes
(Jack and Meg haven’t released a new album since 2007’s “Icky Thump”, they are a talented duo and I would like them to come back. I love their music but never gotten around to buying their records, will start getting their albums soon. They only released six albums in their career. It is rumored they’ll be coming back soon, but I’ll believe it when there is a new album on the shelves of record stores.)

3. Garbage
(Another band who haven’t released a new album since 1995, they have vanished and gone. They were a talented group, I liked Shirley Manson’s singing and the band wrote good songs. A comeback for them would be appropriate.)

4. Jimmy Page
(Ever since the iconic Led Zeppelin reunion at the O2 in 2007, all the guys in Led Zep kept working on projects but Jimmy Page. Robert Plant went to work with Alison Krauss. Jason Bonham went back to work on other projects. John Paul Jones went to work for Them Crooked Vultures, but since the 02 reunion Jimmy hasn’t announced a new project for himself yet at all. Jimmy needs to do something musical again soon. Hope Jimmy has plans in doing a solo album ’cause that would be pretty cool.)

5. Billy Joel
(I’m a huge fan of Billy, admired his music for years. He hasn’t done a new album since 2001’s “Fantasies & Delusions” which was a classical instrumental album. After that, he still constantly tours around the world performing hits from his past, touring with Elton John and all that. If he is able to tour still and perform all his hits on stage, I’m sure he is capable of writing new material for new songs. Come on, Billy, get your shit together and get back to writing new songs again!)

BREAKING NEWS: Alright, Beatles fanatics, start getting the Fab Four albums digitally now!!

Wow! This is really amazing news! Apple and The Beatles always been strict with Itunes and digital music, look like they’ve had a change of heart all of a sudden! Before, you couldn’t get Beatles music on Itunes. Now you can! Yes, that means you can download all of their studio albums. That’s great, because I stopped buying CD’s. I buy albums digitally from Itunes mostly. I’ll be able to collect all of the Beatles albums, which I will start doing soon. Thanks to Apple and Paul McCartney/Ringo Starr for making it happen for us!

Happy Birthday, Neil Young!

Today is a very special day in the world of rock and roll music. Why? Because today is Neil Young’s birthday. Yes, the Canadian legendary rocker turns 65, today. He is one of the reasons I got into music in the first place, and he is one of the reasons why I wanted to write my own original songs, and to play guitar. His music means so much to me. He is not only a great singer/songwriter, but he is also one of the best live performers. He puts so much energy and heart into his live concerts. When he plays on stage, you can tell that Neil Young doesn’t care about fame and the money, he does it for the love of music. You can really see his passion for music when he performs live.

This post is about celebrating the music of Neil Young. One of the greatest rock and rollers of all times. I love Neil. Have a little over ten of his albums in my CD collection and counting. Neil deserves this post ’cause he is one of the only legendary rockers still alive and rocking. He still puts out albums year after year, like he has always done and always touring. Most legendary musicians died of a young age, and kudos for Neil for sticking with us. Thank you Neil, for all the wonderful music you made for us.

Here are some of my favorite songs he has done.

Report: UK pop star, Lily Allen, hospitalized after second miscarriage…

I’m posting this ’cause I am a pretty big fan of Lily Allen’s music. I know she’s a trainwreck and a wild party girl like all the others, but I like her music. I find her music quite good. Her songs really drew me into getting into her stuff. I know she’s not everyone’s favorite singer, but if you listen to her stuff carefully, you’ll find her very talented and she’s not that bad. She’s a controversial woman and pretty honest, which is another reason she gets my respect. It’s pretty sad that she can’t have a child even though she tries. I wish she could have a baby, but it’s looking bad for her and she may never have a child now.

I know people are probably going to blame this on her drinking and drug use, but don’t always blame it on that. Women have these kind of problems when it comes to pregnancy, that’s the way life is and life isn’t fair sometimes. It is what it is. Get well soon, Lily, and hope she releases a new record soon.

Thought: Justin Bieber punching a kid in the face at laser tag game, was it an accident or not?

Justin Bieber is under investigation by the police. What for? The Biebs was playing a game of laser tag with a bunch of other kids around his age. Other kids started shooting the laser tag gun at Biebs, which caused him to punch one of the kids in the face. The other kids started calling him gay slurs like “f***t” and all that.

See the article, here.

Well, I don’t find it a surprise that a bunch of kids would start crap with Biebs during a laser tag game. Why? Because Biebs is the world’s famous superstar, an icon. Rich and famous, all that. The other kids don’t have the life that he has. So the other kids started bullying Biebs with a jealous rage. Probably jealous of his fame and fortune. I don’t see how someone could accidentally punch someone in the face. Sounds to me that Biebs is just like any other pre-teen school kid. A kid that doesn’t like to be bullied on so they use violence as a retaliation. I don’t think it’s an accident.

Report: Kanye West album cover banned ’cause of nudity???

Kanye West is about to release a new album, but his record label banned the album cover ’cause they felt it was too racy. Kanye posted the album cover himself on twitter.

On his twitter page, he also tweeted these:

“In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now.”

“So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings”

While the cover maybe a bit too racy, Kanye haters. I’m going to have side with him on this one. Kanye is so right. Nudity with album covers have been happening for YEARS since the 70’s. Album covers had nudity that weren’t paintings either. The Nirvana album cover Kanye was reffering to, was the album cover for, “Nevermind”, the naked baby in the swimming pool. Also, John Lennon and Yoko Ono even did some nude photo art for albums as well.

Take a look at this list. Those are all albums that had nudity. David Bowie had himself naked as a painting for the album cover, “Diamond Dogs”. The Blind Faith album cover had a naked woman on it as a painting holding a airplane, remember that one?

Kanye’s album cover is not that big of a deal, in my opinion, so it deserves to be published for the album cover. Kanye’s in the right, this time.

Kev

Edit to add: Oh yeah, another album cover I forgot to mention is Janet Jackson’s, fifth album “Janet” made in 1993. Remember that one, folks? That album cover had her on it, she was topless, no bra or anything, but she had a guy behind her holding her boobs. That cover was a bit racy but it got published anyway.
