“Black Panther” doesn’t deserve the hype, “Aquaman” does!!!

So, I just saw DC’s superhero film “Aquaman” in the theater earlier today and wow. I was freakin’ blown away! Usually movies full of CGI are never my thing ’cause movies like that feel a bit too cartoonish for me but I can’t help but love “Aquaman”. I didn’t mind the CGI in “Aquaman” ’cause it worked for a movie like “Aquaman”.

I thought James Wan did an impressive job directing his first superhero film. This comes as a big surprise ’cause James Wan is mostly known as a horror film director. He did mostly horror films in his career but he’s starting to do action films more. He did an action film back in 2007 called “Death Sentence” which starred Kevin Bacon in the leading role so James is capable of doing some action movies and remember James directed Fast and the Furious 7 too.

This movie “Aquaman” was entertaining as hell all the way through, I wasn’t bored one bit. The film has an all star cast but I was most impressed with Jason Momoa and Dolph Lundgren, of course. Those two guys helped made the movie watchable. All the action scenes were a blast to watch and since James Wan is mostly known as a horror director, the film did had some horror elements here and there.

I was never a fan of the Aquaman character much but this movie makes me want to start reading Aquaman comics right now and I would like to start buying some soon. It’s a very cool character actually and Jason Momoa makes you want to like the character when you haven’t in the past.

I thought “Aquaman” was the best superhero of the year. Fuck “Black Panther”, man. “Aquaman” was 10x’s way better than “Black Panther”. When I was watching “Aquaman”, I felt like it was almost Star Wars underwater and that’s what it was pretty much. “Aquaman” was so impressive. People maybe getting sick and tired of superheroes movies yes but go see “Aquaman”. It’ll be a superhero movie worth seeing, trust me. I fucking loved it and definitely buying the BluRay when it comes out.

Film Review: The Conjuring 2…

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Madison Wolfe

Directed by James Wan

So today I’ve just seen “The Conjuring 2”. I’ve seen the first one and thought it was great so I’ve seen the 2nd one today. Here’s my review.

Plot/Synopsis: Lorraine and Ed Warren travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

This story tells about the real-life story of the Enfield Haunting over in the UK. I’m a huge fan of the Conjuring movies ’cause they make you think that haunted houses and demonic possession is real. They make you think that stuff is believable and it probably is real. That’s what makes “The Conjuring” movies so scary. I think James Wan is getting better at every horror film he makes. He does a good job at making horror films where there’s less blood & gore. You’re not gonna see much blood & gore in this movie. In my opinion, that’s what makes a true horror film is when they don’t rely on the blood & gore too much.

The movie is a good 2 and a half hours so you will see plenty of scares. I love the unpredictability in this film ’cause you never knew what was going to happen next. If you want an “edge of your seat” film, this film will do it to you. I thought it was better than the first and scarier than the first. This movie makes me want to research more about the Enfield Haunting. Tells the real life story of Janet Hodgson. If you ever wanted to know more about the Amityville Horror this film will give you more insight.

I love horror films based on real life events ’cause they’re so inspiring. I’m sure they’re inspiring other people too which is why these movies are being so successful. I think Patrick Wilson is a phenomenal actor too and these movies are gonna help him become a big star.

“The Conjuring 2” was really great. No complaints at all really. Finally a good horror film with a plot, good writing and good acting too. It was an excellent film all around.

Score for “The Conjuring 2” = **** (4 stars as in “Excellent”

Look like the MacGuyver reboot will be headed to the small screen instead of the big screen…

For many years now, there has been a lot of talk of a big screen “Macguyver”movie but looks like it’s gonna head to the small screen instead and Jame Wans will be directing it.

http://iusbpreface.com/2015/10/05/furious-7-director-james-wan-to-helm-macgyver-reboot-3439/

The question is will Richard Dean Anderson reprise his role as Macguyver? The role that made him famous? Probably not. As you read in the article, this reboot wants MacGuyver to be in his 20’s so the character will be played by a younger actor but I can still see Richard Dean Anderson being involved somehow… maybe Anderson will still have a role but a different role. Anderson will probably have a small role in some episodes as a different character, ya know? On top of that, Anderson is too old and a little overweight now to be playing Macguyver again but I’m sure he’s still gonna be involved in this new series somehow.

I’m looking forward to this ’cause I’m a huge fan of Macguyver. Used to watch the show obsessively when it used to be on TV back in the day.

James Wan to direct “Aquaman” movie for DC/Warner Bros…

James Wan is mostly famous as a horror film director but look like he’s finally getting tired of horror films and wants to do different genres. He has directed a few action movies in his career with action films such as “Death Sentence” starring Kevin Bacon and he just directed “Fast & Furious 7”. Now he’s set to direct another action film which is gonna be the “Aquaman” which will star Jason Momoa in the leading role.

You can expect the “Aquaman” live-action movie to be full of water all over so there’s gonna be a lot of underwater scenes and above water scenes. That’s because I believe that Aquaman can only survive in water, I think he can survive outside of water but not for long. I don’t know much about Aquaman but I’m just doing a little googling on the character. He does have super strength and he can control all sea life meaning that he can control all sea animals like fish, sharks, whales, etc.

So I think this is gonna be an interesting movie and looking forward to seeing how James is gonna pull it off. Expect the movie to be full of CGI, though.

The “Saw” series is the best horror franchise out there, I hope there will be a part 8…

I just watched all 7 “Saw” films just recently on BluRay and WOW!!!!!!!!!! I’m fuckin’ blown away with all of them! Loved every film! I think “Saw” is easily the best horror franchise around but is “Saw 7” seriously the last one? I sure hope not! I think I’ve read somewhere that Lionsgate studios is planning a Saw 8 so I hope it’s true. They should keep these series going.

The reason I was impressed with these series ’cause they are so different than any other horror franchise out there. We have “Friday the 13th”, “Halloween”, the Chucky Movies, the Freddy movies, etc. but they all have the same boring plot and same boring story. Not with the “Saw” movies, though. Each film has a plot and story. I thought the storytelling in the “Saw” movies was pretty intelligent and thought provoking. These movies can get you thinking for sure.

As I was watching these movies, I’ve come to a realization that Jigsaw (or John Kramer played by the great Tobin Bell) is more of a hero than a villain, in my opinion. How? Well, Jigsaw only took down those who were bad people. He took down criminals, drug dealers, rapists and all that stuff. He also took down those who doesn’t appreciate life, doesn’t deserve a life. As the films get going, you would learn more about John Kramer in the sequels. You would learn why he started the Jigsaw games. I don’t wanna spoil things to you but lets just say that John Kramer was a broken down guy who was upset about something. It had something to do with his wife. The stories had all kinds of twists and turns and shockers.

Jigsaw is also the king of movie quotes. He said some pretty epic quotes such as “Live or die, make your choice”, “Let the game begin”, “Hello (name here), I want to play a game”, etc.

I hope they keep these movies going. I don’t want remakes or reboots ’cause that would destroy this franchise. Could they bring John Kramer back somehow? Keep in mind, this is horror so I’m sure there’s always a way to figure out a way to bring Kramer back for one more movie.

Tobin Bell is a phenomenal actor though. Now I understand why these movies are so popular and most of them did well in the box office too. I’ve always been a big fan of Cary Elwes, he’s been a favorite actor of mine for a pretty long time. While all 7 movies are great, the first one with Cary and Danny Glover will always be a classic! I’m glad I finally got around to seeing the rest of them.

Film Review: “Fast and Furious 7”

Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Kurt Russell, Dwayne Johnson

Directed by: James Wan

Today, I decided to hit the mall for something to do and I went to check out “Furious 7”. Here is my review…

Plot/Synopsis: Dominic Torretto and his crew thought they left the criminal mercenary life behind. They defeated an international terrorist named Owen Shaw and went their seperate ways. But now, Shaw’s brother, Deckard Shaw is out killing the crew one by one for revenge. Worse, a Somalian terrorist called Jakarde, and a shady government official called “Mr. Nobody” are both competing to steal a computer terrorism program called God’s Eye, that can turn any technological device into a weapon. Torretto must reconvene with his team to stop Shaw and retrieve the God’s Eye program while caught in a power struggle between terrorist and the United States government.

If you’re looking for an action packed thrill ride and if you’re a big fan of car chases, explosions, guns and all that stuff, you’re definitely gonna dig this movie. I think this is the best of the “Fast and Furious” franchise. The action scenes in the other films seems okay and they were just entertaining but that’s all they were but in “Furious 7”, you’re gonna see some pretty intense action. The action in this movie was more intense than the previous “Furious” films. The action scenes in “Furious 7” will keep your eyes glued to the screen. The action scenes were actually pretty unpredictable for sure!

The casting in this movie was pretty impressive as it was another all-star cast. I thought they all did a good job with the acting in this movie even Vin Diesel, Paul and the Rock did a great job. It was awesome to finally see Kurt Russell on the big screen ’cause he hasn’t starred in a big screen movie in a long time and this was a perfect comeback film for Kurt! Ronda Rousey had a small role in this film which was badass. She had a brief fight scene against Letty (Michelle’s character).

Even though the script was well-written, I felt the script was altered a little bit due to Paul’s sudden passing. It seemed they had a lot more of a story to get told but a lot of it was cut out or something.

It was just a great action movie and it’s the way an action film was supposed to be. James Wan was a perfect choice to direct this movie too. I think this is the final film of the “Furious” franchise and it was a prefect way to end the franchise. Of course, the ending was very sad and heartbreaking. I don’t wanna reveal too much but this movie was more of a tribute to Paul Walker. It’s a real shame to see so many people talked so much negative shit about Paul Walker’s death. The “Fast and Furious” crew really loved Paul and when you watch this movie, they wanted to show you that they really loved him like a brother.

Is this movie Oscar worthy as Vin Diesel claims? Yes it is but you know the Academy will never give it a nod. I can see “Furious 7” getting nominations for best sound, best editing but that’s about all. Maybe Paul Walker will get nominated for the film but it won’t get a Best Picture nod, though.

I was very impressed with “Fast 7”. You definitely gotta go see this film for yourself.

I’d give “Fast and Furious 7” a score of “5 out of 5” as in “Excellent”.

“Fast and Furious 7” will go on as planned…

As I already expected… Universal Studios and director James Wan plans to go on with filming of “Fast 7”. This comes to as no surprise as they all say, “the show must go on”. I would think that’s what Paul Walker himself would have wanted. He would have wanted them to finish the film for him. So they are probably doing this in honor of him. Will Paul’s scenes he filmed still be in the movie? Probably but the film will require major rewrites and they’re gonna have to kill his character off somehow.

This is gonna be an emotional and very sad, “Fast and Furious” film for sure. It’s also gonna be hard on the cast and crew working on the film without Paul. Are they gonna tone down the violence and action out of respect for Paul? Who knows. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they’re gonna pull this off now.

More on the story, here.

Report: Macgyver movie is finally on it’s way to the big screen with James Wan in talks to direct, will Richard Dean Anderson return?

“Macgyver” was one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I was pretty obsessed with the show when I was a kid. It was pretty addicting and loved it too much. I plan on re-watching this show on Netflix soon ’cause the show is streamable, I believe. Well, New Line, is moving forward on the “Macgyver”, big screen movie, and horror film director, James Wan, is in talks to direct. James Wan, is mostly known for doing horror films but looks like he wants to do something different for a change. It’s not yet know if Richard Dean Anderson, the star of the TV, will return as Macgyver for the movie version, but there are hopes. I hope Richard will say yes, to reprising his role. That would be great if he came back.

Although, it wouldn’t surprise me if the movie version will have a different actor playing the Macgyver character, much like, “The A-Team” movie having different actors. I hope they don’t go down that direction, but all we can do is cross our fingers and pray if, Richard Dean Anderson, will return. That will be amazing if he did. I’m all for him coming back as this character.

Variety, reports.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #23: Insidious

“Insidious” is another great directed film by, James Wan. It’s about a family who is in search for help of their young son who is put in a coma because of an accident in the attic. While the son will not wake up, the family has discovered that he was sent to another world called, the Further. A world of ghosts and the supernatural. Even though this film is rated PG-13, I find it a great film, anyway. The script was actually great and it was just a thrilling movie. It was also pretty creepy. It’s definitely a good film to show your family of all ages. There’s basically no gore and no graphic violence, which makes it a truly scary movie. It’ll keep you at the edge of your seat throughout the whole thing. The film is Netflix streamable, check it out.

The Brock’s Horror Film Pick #15: Saw (first one, only)

I’m not really a big fan of SAW, but I think the first one was really good. I only saw like, the first three flicks, and haven’t been following the rest of ’em. Seen one, seen them all. Cary Elwes and Danny Glover together in this movie is gold. I think that’s what I loved the most about it. The sequels after this one kind of ruined it for me. I thought the first one had pretty masterful storytelling, though. A horror movie that actually had a plot, and not just about blood & guts!
