Sorry but people really need to leave Metallica out of Lou Reed’s passing…

Whenever somebody famous and iconic dies… sure enough… there’s always going to be a few who will say negative and hateful things about this person. Yesterday when Lou’s passing was announced… fans were grieving for the late rock star but as expected there’s always going to be some that will continue to talk shit. People will write negative stuff about Lou Reed… mostly because of his album, “Lulu” that he made with Metallica. I am seeing people blaming Lou Reed for ruining Metallica and stuff like that… you get the deal.

I understand that “Lulu” wasn’t everyone’s favorite album but don’t you think it’s a bit too soon to be talking shit and bringing Metallica into this? It’s unfair for Metallica and to Lou’s family who are both going through some tough times. They don’t need to deal with any negativity. These immature idiots need to have some compassion for Lou even if they didn’t like, “Lulu”. A lot of people out there know that “Lulu” wasn’t that great of an album but they grieve for Lou anyway out of respect.

Usually when people start writing negative and hateful things about a famous person’s passing is that they do it for attention pretty much. They just want the attention for having different feelings than everyone else so they try to spark up some controversy just to get some people going. I had to delete a guy from facebook ’cause he wrote negative stuff about Lou’s passing in my newsfeed and will continue to do the same if I see more people do more shit talking about Lou. I will do the same thing here. If you decide to write negative stuff about Lou here on my blog… comment will be removed immediately and you will be banned off my site.

On top of that, I didn’t think “Lulu” wasn’t all that bad of an album and I really liked it. People were so quick hating on that album ’cause people would usually hate everything that Metallica does these days. Metallica can’t seem to keep everyone happy anymore even though they try. I plan to listen to “Lulu” sometime today. I’m also planning on doing a Lou Reed tribute this week for my youtube channel by covering a few of his songs.

No matter what you think of “Lulu”… Lou Reed himself was very proud of that album… look it up when he tried to defend that album from negative criticism… he even called the album the “best thing he has ever done”.

People bashing Metallica all the time and being opinionated over music is just proof that the music world is full of immature assholes. As you all know, I’ve always liked to treat the national music industry in a positive direction and like to keep it that way.

Happy 50th Birthday, Mr. James Hetfield

Today, James Hetfield, rhythm guitarist and lead singer of Metallica (also one of the band’s main founders) turns into the big, 5-0 today. He may look a little older but he’s a lot younger.

Yes, Metallica gets a lot of hate and disrespect in this day and age. I still respect the band. Why? Simply because Metallica has a lot of balls and they aren’t afraid to do what they want to do. I don’t understand all the hate for Metallica. Yes, they sued Napster, yes they moved on from their speed metal music and went alternative, yes they aren’t good with sound production on their albums but no matter what you think of Metallica… they had a 30 year long career and they are the kings of metal. I don’t understand all the hate. They seem like real good dudes to me. I mean they reconciled with Megadeth, Slayer and even Napster’s Sean Parker. All 3 who Metallica had past feuds with. Sure enough, the fans will always find something new to hate about Metallica.

Metallica are a band just like all the others. They just want to get together and play music. They’re not gonna stay in the same style of music forever. All bands want to change and evolve. They all do. I stuck with Metallica through all the their albums even with the “Load/Reload”, “St. Anger”, “Lulu”, albums. I even liked those albums. Metallica will always have my back and my support. I had the opportunity to see them live in concert finally and it’s a night I’ll never forget.

People want to act like these guys are the most hated band in America but they’re just regular dudes and they’re just musicians. That is all! Anybody who hates Metallica just wants to be a bandwagon jumper and side with popular opinion. There’s nothing wrong with liking a band everybody hates. They’re still great songwriters.

Happy Birthday, James. Now start making the follow-up album to “Death Magnetic”. We had to wait a long time for “Death Magnetic”… now don’t force us to wait a long time for the next record. Metallica doesn’t spend a lot of time in the studio ’cause they’re more worried about touring around the world than writing and recording. Seriously, these guys do so much touring. It’s incredible. That’s another reason I respect them. They tour more than any other rock band out there.

Long live Metallica!!! \m/ I’m looking forward to their “Through the Never”, big screen 3D movie too. I’ll probably go see it!

Report: Metallica’s 3D movie, “Through The Never” to hit Imax theaters…

Metallica’s 3D live-concert movie, “Through The Never”, will be hitting Imax theaters all across North America, during the week of September 27th. The regular release of the film will be hitting theaters nationwide, Oct. 4th. The concert filmed in the movie was the three day concert in Vancouver, last August. The concert will feature: pyrotechnics, floating coffins, and planned malfunctions. Of course, I’m sure the concert will feature all kinds of unique stage lights and smoke machines to help give the 3D effects. Maybe the movie will even show backstage footage and interviews with the band, who knows.

More on the story, here.

As a die-hard Metallica myself, I’m really looking forward to this. The band is probably getting a lot of haters accusing the band of doing this for a quick cash-grab or being sell-outs, but angry fans call the band sell-outs on pretty much everything they do. After a 30 long year career, releasing 9 successful studio albums — yes, St. Anger, Load, and Re-load were very successful albums — , and being the biggest live-selling band in the history of music; the band deserves this film.

I’ve always stayed loyal to Metallica. Even stood by them for the “St. Anger”, “Load”, and “Re-load” stuff. I don’t feel ashamed of enjoying those albums ’cause they are good albums, if you give them a chance. Metallica is just like every other band, ya know? They just want to change and evolve. Bands don’t like staying in the same style of music so they need to be diverse and versatile. “St. Anger” may have been the band’s most hated album, but I’m probably one of the very few who actually loved it. It’s a pretty sick album if you actually listen to it. The album has some of James’s best rhythm playing and singing.

Love Metallica or hate them… they are the kings of metal, no matter what you think of them. I too am hoping they will start working on their 10th album if they’ll ever get to it. This band is not about pleasing everyone for sure. They’re not afraid to do what they want to do, not giving a shit about what anyone else thinks. That’s why Metallica still has my respect.

I’m looking forward to this movie and will be there to see it if it’s playing in my local mall.

Report: Metallica ends feud with Sean Parker, the band now has their music on Spotify…

Going back to the year 2000, Metallica sued Napster for copyright infringement, due to their song, “I Disappear”, being leaked onto the service before the “Mission Impossible III”, soundtrack release. They found the song in the Napster peer-to-peer file sharing network, and they sued the company for copyright infringement.

Now that Sean Parker, owns Spotify, Metallica finally decided to play it cool and have a change of heart with online streaming services. Now you can stream, all Metallica albums in Spotify.

Read the band’s announcement, here.

While Metallica is the most hated band in America, they do have “good” in them. Now that they dropped Warner Music, and have their own label, they’re already on the move to their new adventure as you can see. With your own label, you can do what you please with your music, and that’s where these guys come from. No control by other labels. They’re on their own now.

Kev

Thought: Why Metallica leaving Warner Music label so they can have their own label is a good idea!!!

So Metallica, the kings of metal, announced this shocking news out of no where, that they have left Warner Music, and started their own record label, called, Blackened. The band also revealed that they have taken all of their original master recordings of all of their albums, and including videos. They took everything with them. That includes their Dec. 10th release of “Quebec Magnetic” BluRay/DVD.

See the news, here.

While Metallica, doesn’t get into details of what they’re planning with the master recordings of their albums and videos, I’m assuming that they are planning on re-releasing everything for better quality. I mean, people are always complaining about the sound quality of Metallica albums, and maybe this is the whole point? Re-release all the albums, so they can sound much better. The same with the videos for better picture and sound quality.

Not only this, the band also wants complete control over their songwriting. With them being signed under a major label before, their producers helps write them the songs. The band having their own label, more creative freedom in the songwriting process. I’m actually looking forward to what Metallica is going to sound like, now they won’t be a part of the major labels anymore. The band could sound different and have potential to bring back thrash metal, if they wanted.

Yep, with a band or artist signed with a major label, you don’t have full control of your music anymore. The label does. This is a smart move Metallica did, and honestly, they should have done this a long time ago, after the “Black” album.

I’m sure Metallica is getting negative criticism at this move, calling the band sellouts, and all, but I think this is a good idea. I’ll always stay loyal to Metallica, no matter what the haters think. Congrats to Metallica. I support them on this.

Brock defends Lars Ulrich of Metallica…

Is Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica, one of the most hated musicians on the internet? It certainly seems so! Where ever Metallica is posted anywhere on the internet, he is almost always getting bashed on by most of the haters. Why? It’s usually people saying the same things about him. His drumming skills always get slammed and people call him a crazy meat head. He still gets criticized for his lawsuit threats at Napster years back, even to this day. He also gets criticized for the way he performs on stage at Metallica concerts. Usually the same old arguments, nothing new, with nothing to back it up.

You see, I respect Lars as a musician. I mean, if he was a shit drummer, then Metallica wouldn’t become one of the biggest bands in the world right? It seems that Lars Ulrich is the leader of Metallica. I watch all the Metallica video blogs in youtube, the studio stuff and all the backstage stuff at concerts, and it does seem that Lars have creative control of everything. Why? Because Metallica is Lars band! He was the one who formed the band himself way back in 1981. Lars put an advertisement in the newspapers and James Hetfield was one of the first musicians to respond. Metallica formed from there.

No matter what you think of Lars, you can’t deny his work ethic. He is a pretty hard working guy. Lars is the one who helped James write all the songs for Metallica. Watch all the videos for proof. Lars will instruct James to play better and Lars won’t be afraid to say what is great and what is bad, about James playing. Metallica is always touring non stop. Always on the road, whether in the USA or over seas. Yes, Lars maybe a little crazy but in a good way. He seems like a very friendly and down to earth guy to me, after watching most of the Metallica meet & greet videos. Lars may be a huge pain in the ass to the other members of the band at times, but Lars wants what’s best for Metallica. That’s all he’s doing. He cares for the band and Metallica fans. He wants to put on the best music as possible, he is just doing whatever it takes to make that happen.

Metallica continues to sell millions of records and sell out arenas all over the world, so they must be doing something right. So I don’t understand the hate toward Lars? Lars survived 30 years of Metallica. 30 fucking years, long days of recording, touring, playing the same songs over and over. You can’t deny that’s pretty impressive. This is also part of the reason I respect Metallica. I respect their legacy, their work ethic, their talent, and songwriting. They certainly know what they’re doing and they aren’t afraid to do different things whether people liked it or not. I never had a problem with Lars.

Also, Metallica supports other bands & artists. Doing their own Orion festival is proof that they support other music, other than their own. So it shows that Metallica, don’t have an ego problem at all. They’re pretty respectful to other talent and they don’t think they’re better than others. I will always respect Metallica no matter what people think. With Metallica’s next album, if they plan to move away from speed metal again I’ll have no problem with that either. It’s called creative control with your music. Metallica just wrote whatever comes out of them when it comes to songwriting together. They can’t help it if they write out of the speed metal genre. It is pretty sad that Metallica has so many haters though. I just try to ignore them all, the best I can.

Metallica’s “Orion Music + More” Fest…very surprisingly successful and very positive experience all around!

Whenever a huge metal festival happens, people would start worrying about things. People would worry about deaths, fighting in the audience or worse concert riots. Thankfully none of that happened at Metallica’s “Orion Fest + More”. The Fest was clearly about the music. All the fans there were there to see Metallica, but some of the Metallica fans did stick around to check out the other bands on the Festival though. I didn’t see any of the bands on the Festival except I did caught Lucero, yesterday, which I actually liked them.

Tonight’s Metallica set, they played the Black Album in it’s entirety. This time, they played right through the full album, song after song. Metallica still proves that they can do speed metal and they can still do it well. People are upset with them because they went alternative rock in the early 2000’s. Changing their genre completely. You see, I still like their alternative rock “St. Anger/Load/Reload” sound ’cause I admired the band wanting to move away from speed metal to do something different. Bands change and evolve. I like that.

The reason Metallica went back to speed metal at Orion fest ’cause it was a tribute to Cliff Burton. It’s what Cliff would have wanted, so they gave it to him. At the end of tonight’s set, there was a fan out in the audience holding up a very large poster of Cliff Burton, so Lars, walks out to the stage ramp to get a closer look at it, which was a pretty heartbreaking and sad moment. Metallica still loves Cliff, even to this day. The festival was all about Cliff really. I’m sure Cliff would have loved the festival himself if he was still alive today.

While Metallica killed it again tonight, I wish they would change up their ending to their sets. They keep playing the same encore songs, ending it with “Seek and Destroy” every concert. “Seek and Destroy”, is an amazing song, but it doesn’t always have to be the end song of a concert. Change it up some, boys! Metallica really are great live performers. They don’t fake anything with their playing. James doesn’t lip sync, he can really sing. I can tell ’cause they play the same songs differently each night. Different tempo, different feeling. Sometimes better than the night before.

The question we all have to ask is, what is their next new album is going to sound like? The follow up to “Death Magnetic”? Will, they finally redeem themselves and go back to speed metal like the fans wanted? While “Death Magnetic” was mostly speed metal, they still had quite a few songs on the record that were still, “Load/Reload” sounding. I’m hoping they’ll go back to thrash for their next album, but I doubt it. That’s the tough part about songwriting. You just play whatever comes out of you, doesn’t matter the genre. That’s one thing that fans don’t understand about music and songwriting. Your mind is like a radio, ya know? A songwriter hears original songs in his/her head all the time, and musicians write the songs to get it out of them. I’m sure fans want to see them go back to the genre they are known for but it’s all about the songwriting inspiration. Sometimes they can’t help writing out of the speed metal genre. That’s what being an artist is all about. And that’s another reason why I respect Metallica.

Brock reviews Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning” set at Orion Festival last night…

Last night, I watched the live broadcast of Metallica’s thunderous set at Orion Festival on youtube. They played every single song from the “Ride the Lightning”, album like advertised! The album isn’t that long, it only has 8 songs on the album, so they had to mix in other hits from their other albums during their set. Last night’s set was a monster! WOW! Makes me wish I was at the show. Last night, was all old school Metallica, throughout their entire set. They played mostly their older material from “Kill ‘Em All”, “Lightning”, “And Justice For All” and of course, a few songs from the “Black Album”. This was by far, the best live performance I’ve seen by the guys.

At first, I was a little skeptical of Orion fest, but after watching some of it on youtube, the Fest actually looks kind of cool. Of course, Metallica’s set got the largest crowd more than any other band ’cause they’re Metallica. I didn’t watch any other bands on the Orion Fest, but I did catch Lucero which they are actually pretty decent.

On with Metallica, this is what everyone wants to see them as. Speed metal kings, and last night was all speed metal all the way through. They didn’t play anything from “St. Anger”, “Load/Reload”, “Death Magnetic” or, “Lulu”. Maybe they will play some of the newer stuff for tonight’s set but last night, it was a celebration of their 30 year career, most definitely. I respect Metallica for a lot of reasons. For one, they are the best live performers out there, and they know how to interact with the crowd onstage better than any other band. You can clearly tell, that Metallica really love their fans. After the set got over with, the band stuck around for a while, giving the audience in the front row high fives, throwing guitar picks out in the crowd, and Lars was throwing drum sticks into the crowd as well. It shows that they are really good guys.

Orion Fest, is a pretty successful Festival so far. I see them doing it again next year. Metallica deserves their own festival. Ozzy Osbourne created Ozzfest back in the day, which was a hit Festival. Perry Ferrell created Lollapalooza which that Festival is now legendary. Megadeth created “Gigantour”, which is also a hit.

The whole point of “Orion Fest & More”, is that Metallica wants to express themselves more to their fans. They want to show people what they do other than music. For example, James Hetfield loves cars and motorcycles, so he put on his own car and motorcycle show there. Lars Ulrich, is a big fan of Hollywood movies, so he put up his own Hollywood tent showing some of his favorite films, handpicked by the man himself. Kirk Hammett loves horror fiction, so he put up his own horror museum, called, “Kirk’s Crypt”, displaying all of his horror memorabilia and merchandise. As for Rob Trujillo, he reveals that he loves surfing so he uses the fest to show off his love for surfing and for him to go out surfing himself, of course. Rob also has a passion for skateboarding and there’s a little section at the fest where fans can skateboard at the skateboard ramp.

There are also all kinds of other museums and fun things to see and do. Kind of makes me wish I bought tickets to that Festival and went myself.

No matter what you think of Metallica, they are the kings of metal. I respect their history, their legacy they created, plus, I dig all of their music. You’re not a true Metallica fan if you just like their speed metal stuff only and not enjoy their new material. To be a true Metallica die hard, you MUST LIKE ALL OF THEIR MUSIC. Including the, “St. Anger/Load/Reload” stuff, which I do enjoy as well. These guys are monster songwriters. They are a big influence on my own songwriting as well.

Seeing Metallica for the first time myself live during the “Death Magnetic” tour a few years ago, meant a lot to me. I hope to see them live again.

Want to watch Metallica perform at Orion Fest? Watch it on Youtube Fuse channel…

Metallica’s Orion Fest is this weekend and tonight Metallica will be performing the “Ride the Lightning” album in it’s entirety, tomorrow night will be the “Black Album”. Since I’m a die hard Metallica fan, I’ll be watching both nights. I’ll only be watching Orion just for Metallica, not the other bands.

Watch it here, if you’re interested, that is.

Report: Metallica announces, “Orion Festival & More”…

Metallica have been teasing a big announcement well the band themselves revealed it today during a live webcast. They just announced their own festival called, “Orion Festival & More” which will take place on June 23 & 24th in Atlantic City, N.J. Ticket pricing will be $125 for two day pass, MetClubUltraPass for the good stuff will be $225.

See the band line-up for the Festival, here.

The band said it’s not just a metal festival, they want to have all genres of music as you can see. This is Metallica’s own festival.

Ozzy has his own music festival with Ozzfest. Dave Mustaine has his own festival with, Gigantour. Now it’s Metallica time to have their own festival.

While I love Metallica, I would have to be honest and say that this is big news? It’s disappointing. I kept thinking they were going to make their “3D” movie that they’ve been planning official, but nope.

I also think the ticket pricing are a bit overpriced. Dave Mustaine’s Gigantour tickets weren’t that high. Dave always kept the Gigantour pricing pretty affordable.

I’m predicting Metallica’s festival will probably bomb.
