Report: “Star Trek” is the most illegally downloaded movie of 2009…

While piracy and stealing movies off the internet is now against the law, lots of people are STILL downloading illegally. People still think they have the right to steal things for free and think it’s okay. I am not a pirate. I like to respect “copyright” and the artist’s work. Besides, why would people want to watch movies on a computer when it’s better watching ’em on the big screen or on a 50 inch TV with home theater surround sound at home.

“Star Trek” happens to be the most downloaded film of 2009.

The law can’t stop people from piracy. Pirates don’t even feel guilty for stealing. I predict Stallone’s, “The Expendables” will be the most pirated movie of 2010, hands down.

Could JJ Abrams “Star Trek” actually win “Best Picture”???

Look like the Star Trek franchise can actually land their first Oscar win for “Best Picture”, because there is a huge buzz going around the movie sites online, that the film could get a nomination. I agree, it deserves a nomination ’cause the film is a beautiful film. I love it to death. Could the Star Trek franchise actually be lucky to win one? None of the Star Trek movies from the past never got a nomination before.

If JJ’s “Star Trek” actually gets the win for “Best Picture” in 2010, that would be very surprising. I have a feeling that the Best Picture win will either go to “Precious”, “Inglourious Basterds” or “Avatar”…but “Star Trek” can actually get it.

It would be nice if something different wins the Oscars. “Star Trek” is a mix of action and sci fi, the new film. I would love it if it got the win for “Best Picture”, I don’t see it happening.

BREAKING NEWS: JJ Abrams “Star Trek” is now biggest “Star Trek” film in history!!!

You’ve been reading my blogs about the new “Star Trek” movie ever since it’s been announced. I’ve been predicting since then, that “Star Trek” was going to beat out the rest of the Star Trek movies in the box office. See? What I tell you? It actually happened!!!! JJ’s “Star Trek”, the biggest Star Trek film ever!!!!!! Congratulations, JJ! That man saved the “Star Trek” franchise big time. This is only the beggining as Star Trek will get even bigger in the future.

George Lucas must be pissed right now. Will he do another Star Wars trilogy to compete with Paramount on Star Trek? Wouldn’t surprise me.

Report: Patrick Stewart finally saw, JJ’s “Star Trek”, and gave us a review…

Former, “Star Trek – The Next Generation” actor, Patrick Stewart, who originally played Captain Jean Luc Picard, finally got to see the new, “Star Trek” movie in London. Patrick’s review of, “Star Trek” is very positive of course. Sounds to me like he was totally blown away and thought the film was amazing as well.

However, he does admit that he finds it a little odd and weird watching a Star Trek movie that he didn’t star in… especially after starring in the last 4 Star Trek movies that starred, “The Next Generation” cast.

More on it here:

http://hamaraphotos.com/news/entertainment/patrick-stewart-delighted-with-new-star-trek.html

I wonder if Patrick Stewart will ever return to the big screen? Play in other movies besides, “Star Trek”? I know Patrick is doing theatre plays right now, but wouldn’t it be fucking sweet if Marvel film gave Professor Xavier his own movie? Patrick played Professor Xavier in the 3 X-Men movies. It be great if Patrick returned to that great character.

Thought: Other than William Shatner… will other “Trek” cast mates appear in the upcoming sequels???

There are talks of William Shatner returning to “Star Trek” sequel by JJ Abrams. What about the other original cast mates appearing in the next movie? Do you think it’s possible if they can bring back George Takei as the original Sulu, James Doohan as Scotty, Walter Koenig as Chekov and Nichelle Nichols as the original Uhura to make cameos in the next one too?

Will they even somehow throw in Captain Picard if Patrick Stewart agrees to make a Star Trek return?

It’s funny how everyone wants Kirk and Spock back into the new movies when they forget the other cast mates. I’m sure JJ will somehow write in a cameo spot for other Star Trek actors.

Kirstie Alley made a cameo in JJ’s “Star Trek”, as you may or may not know, Kirstie Alley played one of the leading characters, Lt. Saavik in “Star Trek II, III, and IV”.

Report: “Star Trek” film makers admits William Shatner was written as a cameo in the script but had to scrap it…***SPOILERS***

One of “Star Trek’s” writers, Roberto Orci, admits that William Shatner was written in the script for a cameo and they originally had William Shatner do the, “Space, the Final Frontier” narrative voice over at the end, but they took that out too, find out all about it here…

If you haven’t seen the new “Star Trek” movie yet, DO NOT read this article, there are major spoilers in the storyline here:

http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1611116/story.jhtml

Shocking!

I’m sure they’ll find a way to bring William Shatner back in the next movie though. They’ll have plenty of time to come up with the right ways to bring him back that’ll make some sense.

Remember that when William Shatner claimed that the new “Star Trek” movie will bomb without him? Well it didn’t!!!! I’ve been saying that from day 1.

Report: “Star Trek” did well in box office, but still not the no. 1 Star Trek movie…

JJ Abrams, “Star Trek” may have made a whopping $76 million this Mother’s Day weekend, but still didn’t top, “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”. It couldn’t even get past “Star Trek II”. Still though, no. 5 is pretty good.

There’s still a chance that JJ’s “Star Trek” could top all Star Trek movies ’cause JJ’s “Star Trek” will probably be in the theater for a pretty long while.

See the box office mojo chart here:

JJ’s “Star Trek”, I’m still blown away by the film, go see it soon!

Film Review: Star Trek

Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, John Cho, Karl Urban, Zoey Saldana, Simon Pegg, Bruce Greenwood, Winona Ryder

Directed by: J.J. Abrams

Just got back from seeing the movie, “Star Trek”. I also did a little shopping and picked up a brand new, Samsung, DVD Home Theater surround sound system which kicks ass, hooked it up already and I think the home theater sounds better than the movies at the mall!!!!!

Here is my review of JJ Abrams, “Star Trek” which I’m glad to finally see…

Plot/synopsis: “Star Trek” has been officially rebooted by Paramount, to focus on the earlier days of Trek back in the classic TV series. Since the original cast are now too old to reprise their roles, Paramount had no choice but to sign other young stars.

This film focuses on how the original cast got together for the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Federation. Starting off with how Kirk and Spock grew up, met each other…remember, Kirk and Spock never got along when they first met. They actually hated each other and shows it in this film. The characters of the new cast have similarities of the original TV series. The new Federation crew battle against the evil Nero, played by Eric Bana, who plays an alien called a Romulan. Leonard Nimoy as the adult Spock doesn’t really have a cameo, he’s pretty much in most of the movie.

My thoughts on the film? I think it’s the best “Star Trek” film since “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country”. I don’t really have much to say about the new “Star Trek” film ’cause I was pretty floored and watched it in awe throughout. I wasn’t bored and thought the film was really amazing, breathtaking. The long wait to see this film was really worth it.

Congratulations to JJ Abrams, that man saved “Star Trek” big time. William Shatner may have missed his chance to star in this one, but I think JJ will get Shat in the next one, definitely.

Whether you’re a “Star Trek” fan or not, you gotta see this. You don’t have to watch the “Star Trek” series or the earlier movies just to see this film. The point of this new film, is to hopefully attract new fans to the “Star Trek” franchise. That’s why they thought it was a good idea to focus on the younger cast in this new one, to get new young fans to “Star Trek”, I agree, it is a good idea that they reboot to a younger cast.

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto both did wonderful. The young Captain Kirk was a short tempered, womanizing man, which Chris pulled off nicely. Zachary Quinto playing the young spock is almost dead on with the young Spock from the original TV series.

Leonard Nimoy playing the old Spock was amazing acting by Leonard too. Eric Bana as Nero was fuckin’  badass! I think Nero was the best Star Trek villain since Khan! Zoey Saldana is fuckin’ hot, I think I have another celebrity female crush to add to the list. Bruce Greenwood playing Captain Pike was badass as well!

The film was perfect. I loved it all the way through. Great sounds effects, good scoring, good cinematography and special effects. I hope in the sequel, they will battle Klingons in the next one. I think the Klingons is my favorite Star Trek villains. “Star Trek” is a must see for all. Screw “Star Wars”, give “Star Trek” a chance, the “Star Trek” franchise deserves to get popular again and I’m very curious on how this one is going to do in the box office. Check it out! You won’t be dissapointed! I’ll want to see this movie a couple of more times in the theater!

Score for “Star Trek” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Star Trek Celebration: My thoughts on each Star Trek film so far!!!

In celebration of JJ Abrams “Star Trek” finally being released this Friday, I figure I would do a brief review of each 10 “Star Trek” films below with scoring, 1-4 stars from bad to excellent.

I don’t enjoy every “Star Trek” film although I’m a die hard Trekkie, there is one I didn’t like, find out what it is below:

Star Trek – The Motion Picture (Score = **, 2 stars as in “ok”)

This was an ok movie, it had a good storyline, good acting, good special effects, the only thing I didn’t like about it, was it dragged on too slow and too long. The pacing of this film is too slow especially the long ending, where Spock gets in this astrunaut like spacesuit, to try and find something called, V’ger which means Voyager 6, a long lost space probe. It would have been a decent Star Trek movie if this one was a little shorter, but I thought this was an ok film, could use more improvements.

Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan (Score = **** 4 stars as in “Excellent”)

After “Star Trek” debuted to the big screen, the sequel returns with Khan coming back as the villain. A major improvement. This turned into an essential classic and it’s one of Star Trek’s most talked about films ever. Khan is a brutal villain and it has a sad ending with Spock dying and all. This is still my favorite “Star Trek” movie ever made.

Star Trek III – the Search for Spock – (Score = ***, 3 stars as in “good”)

This was a pretty good one. I heard something about that Paramount were going to kill Spock off for good in the “Star Trek” films but due to a public outrage of Star Trek fans being angry at Spock being dead, they had no choice but to bring him back. This movie was directed by Leonard Nimoy himself. In this one, the crew battles Klingons which Christopher Lloyd plays the main Klingon villain in this. This film is nothing amazing, nothing mind blowing, but an entertaining “Star Trek” film. I liked it.

Star Trek IV – The Voyage Home (Score = ****, 4 stars as in “Excellent”)

The movie is set in our present time where the Star Trek crew goes back to save humpback whales in order for them to go back to the 20th Century in their time. I think this is another classic Star Trek film, and another favorite of mine. Lots of memorable scenes in this flick and there’s more comedy and humor in this one as well.

Star Trek V – The Final Frontier (Score = ***, 3 stars as in “good”)

This is the one where Spock finds his half brother. This is said to be one of Star Trek’s most hated films, but I liked it.

Star Trek VI – The Undiscovered Country (Score = ****, 4 stars as  in “excellent”)

This is the one where Captain Kirk vows revenge on the Klingons who murdered his son from “Star Trek II”. Other than revenge, the Federation goes to war against the Klingons so they can live in peace. A great “Star Trek” film, lots of action and a good storyline. Great acting by William Shatner in this one too. This is the final Star Trek movie with the original cast.

Star Trek “Generations” – (Score = ****, 4 stars as in “excellent”)

The first Star Trek movie with the “Next Generation” cast. Of course, William Shatner had to return in this one to team up with Captain Picard. Malcolm McDowell also plays the main villain, Dr. Soran. This film has a really good plot, really good action scenes, just a great “Star Trek” film. I remember seeing this movie at least a couple of times in theater.

Star Trek “First Contact” = (Score = ****, 4 stars as in “excellent”)

Another favorite Star Trek movie of mine, where the Federation battles against the Borg. This is where they meet the Borg queen again.

Star Trek “Insurrection” = (Score = *, 1 star as in “poor”)

I would say that this is one of the bad Star Trek films. It didn’t even feel like a Star Trek movie, instead it felt like a two hour Star Trek TV episode.

Star Trek “Nemesis” = (Score = ***, 3 stars as in “good”)

This is the final “Star Trek” movie with the Next Generation cast. Good film, but could use improvements. Many people didn’t like it, but I thought this was a pretty good one. Praetor Shinzon was a great villain, I thought, but that character only got very little screen time which is dissapointing. We could do without the Commander Riker and Deanna Troi romance in this flick, but the rest of it’s fine. Other than that, this movie has good action, it was entertaining.

I’m looking forward to seeing JJ’s “Star Trek” this weekend and will review that one too. Hopefully I’ll like it.
