How Sylvester Stallone saved his almost destroyed career….

So Sylvester Stallone is in the mainstream of Hollywood again. Before the film, “Rocky Balboa”, Sly’s career was almost dead. It seems that everyone forgot who the man was. Before “Rocky Balboa” Sly’s last big screen movie, was “Driven”, a movie about race cars that was directed by Renny Harlin. The film “Driven” was a failure, a box office flop. Why did it fail? Simply because the movie was bad and Sly didn’t star the lead in it, Sly was only in “Driven” for a small role. After “Driven” was released, Sly began doing movies for the independent industry of film aka indie films for straight to DVD. His next few straight to DVD films, were “D-Tox/Eye See You”, “Avenging Angello”, and “Shade”. Those films really didn’t go anywhere either.

So what could Sly do to save his dying career? That’s right, star in a movie for children, which he starred in, “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over”, he played the main villain, the Toymaker. Sly played several different roles at once in that film as a matter of fact. “Spy Kids 3D” was obviously a huge success as it helped bring Sly back in the mainstream just a little bit. Shortly after the film, Sly announced shocking news that he had plans for a “Rocky 6” which is now titled, “Rocky Balboa”. Sly had a long battle against MGM to release “Rocky Balboa” ’cause they wouldn’t work on it because of Sly’s age. They felt like he was too old for the character. Now that Sly and MGM are on good terms, they released the film. “Rocky Balboa” did well in box office, but it wasn’t a huge hit as everyone hoped it would.

Next, Sly decides to try and bring Rambo back to the big screen for the fourth time. The film “Rambo” did pretty well in box office, did a little better than “Rocky Balboa”. After the success of Rocky and Rambo being back, Sly got a deal with Nu-Image Milllenium to make a few more films with them. So Sly came up with an idea of making an action movie full of other action stars, which is “The Expendables”. Sly’s been working on “The Expendables” for the past couple of years, and now it is finally here. Will the “Expendables” movie do better than the new “Rocky” and “Rambo”? Sly making “The Expendables” is just his way of seeing what he can do outside of Rocky and Rambo.

I predict that “The Expendables” will be Sly’s biggest film, since “Rambo: First Blood part II”. It’ll be bigger than “Demolition Man” and “Cliffhanger” as well. Will the “Expendables” top Christopher Nolan’s movie, “Inception”? Definitely. Could “The Expendables” top the “Dark Knight” or even, “Avatar”? I don’t think it’ll go up that far world wide, but maybe “The Expendables” can actually make the top ten.Sly doing Spy Kids was a good move. It may have been silly and goofy for Sly to star in a kids film like that, but if Sly didn’t star in Spy Kids at all, then Rocky and Rambo wouldn’t have came back, and the Expendables wouldn’t have been made. Sly would still be doing straight to DVD movies if he didn’t do Spy Kids.

You gotta ask, what’s next for Sly after, “The Expendables”? I’m not sure yet. Sly hasn’t announced his next project yet, although he has talked about doing the Gotti movie, the Death Wish remake, and the Edgar Allan Poe biopic. He also talked about an “Expendables” sequel at times as well. Nothing’s been confirmed yet. Will Sly continue to be box office king after “The Expendables”? I think he will.

This movie will especially help Dolph Lundgren’s career as well. Dolph directed straight to DVD stuff for most of his life, and maybe his future films will get big screen treatment because of the “Expendables” movie. The “Expendables” film will give all actors in the film good opportunities for their future. Steve Austin retired from wrestling so he can focus on an acting career. Steve appeared in films such “The Longest Yard” and “The Condemned”. He starred in a few straight to DVD movies as well, such as “Damage” and “The Stranger”. “The Expendables” will help Steve Austin’s career get bigger as well. The same with Randy Couture. Other than Randy’s UFC career, Randy does star in a few films here and there, but mostly independent films such as “Red Belt” and “Scorpion King 2”. I think “The Expendables” will help Randy get into more big mainstream films in the future. Jet Li has always been known as a huge icon. Mickey Rourke is well known too, but with his movies like “The Wrestler” and “The Expendables” helped him get into “Iron Man 2” and many other big films. Jason Statham has always been well known, he’s done action movies such as “The Transporter’, “Crank” and others but they weren’t as big and mainstream. “The Expendables” will help Jason become a household name like Sly. Terry Crews is an underrated actor that no one knows about, and now that guy is everywhere in the media.

I can’t wait to see, “The Expendables” movie, I’ve been waiting a long time to see this. Sly is finally back to where he is, doing action movies with him as the leading star. I’m sure Sly will announce his next project when ever he’s done promoting, “The Expendables”. I think Sly will announce his next project sometime this fall. Looking forward to seeing the film this weekend!!! 🙂

Thought: Who should play the young Rambo?

Since Sly is open for the possibility, of a “Rambo: First Blood” prequel where a younger actor would play Rambo instead of him, you’d ask yourself, who should play the young Rambo? I’m pretty sure you’re thinking of Zac Efron, Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner, since those guys are young and buffed, but sorry, I’ll have to disagree. While those kids have great physiques, they won’t fit as Rambo. Why?

Because if Sly is seriously thinking about a Rambo prequel, Sly would have to find an actor that can match his look. The droopy like eyes, those lips, speaking voice, etc.

Sly shouldn’t get a big name for this one. Sly should get an unknown actor for the young Rambo. That’s what he’ll probably do. Since Sly said he’s retired from Rambo for good, this is a clever way for more Rambo but without Sly. A Rambo prequel will be great, it would show Rambo fighting in the Vietnam War, it will show how Col. Trautman made him out to be and all that. So the film would need a younger Col. Trautman actor as well.

I’m all for a Rambo prequel, bring it on, Sly.

Well this was an interesting Q&A session with Sly. That was awesome that he actually answered my question about John Gotti. What is awesome about these Q&A’s that Sly would mention the fan’s name so it can make it look like that Sly is really talking to you

I look forward to seeing “The Expendables” in a few weeks. I’m not interested in “Scott Pilgrim” or “Eat, Pray, Love”. I’m “Expendable” all the way, baby! Can’t WAIT!!!

Report: Sylvester Stallone Q&A with AICN – Day 2

Here’s Day 2 of Sly Stallone answering fan questions. In this one, Sly talks about Frank Miller wanting him to play an aging Batman and surprisingly enough, Sly loves the idea. Even Sly himself might be a huge fan of the Batman character. Sly talks about workout music, what he works out to in the gym, and he admits he does work out to his own music from the Rocky movies. Sly talks what it’s like to work with Woody Allen and Robert Deniro.

And best of all, Sly answers my question about the John Gotti “Dapper Don” movie he is planning with Junior Gotti. Sly explains that the John Gotti project hasn’t even really started yet and they have ways to go to get this project off the ground. So it’s gonna be a LONG LONG while for you to see a John Gotti movie. Like he said, there is already a John Gotti biopic that was made by HBO which stars Armand Assante.

Oh yeah, Sly also says some not friendly stuff about Jean Claude Van Damme. So don’t ever expect Sly and Van Damme to work on a project anytime soon. Sly explains JCVD has a huge ego and that he just wants a high paycheck. Sly still respects Van Damme as an actor though.

I’ve always wanted to see Sly in a horror film and a Western movie too. Maybe he’ll actually do both sometime in the future.

Thought: Did Sly get plastic surgery done?

Looking at Sly at David Letterman’s interview and seeing him in those Comic Con videos, he obviously got plastic surgery done. The internet is already talking about it in other forums, blog sites. I’m actually agreeing with other people on the internet that Sly might have some face work done. Sly ages naturally? LOL! Plastic surgery makes them old stars look young! Maybe that’s the point of the purple sunglasses? He’s trying to hide his droopy like eyes. I’ll admit that Sly doesn’t look good anymore. His face does look kind of bad. He’ll never admit to plastic surgery no matter how many people knows about it. I’ll see if I can dig up some pics tomorrow and I’ll show you how he might of got some face work done. It’s obvious. He’s not fooling anyone.

Report: Stallone bashes Tim Burton/Michael Keaton “Batman” movie, claims the film destroyed the 80’s action hero era…

A lot of people love Tim Burton’s and Michael Keaton’s collaboration of “Batman”, but Stallone has some harsh words to say about the film, he is definitely no fan of the first “Batman” movie. Why? Because he thinks the film is responsible for big muscle guys in actions movies fading away for future films. The action movies in the 90’s did stay away from muscle guys. Muscle guys in action movies were huge in the 80’s but it began to die out in the early 90’s.

Read what Stallone have to say about it here:

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-sylvester-stallone-blames-batman.html

Sorry to say, but I actually agree with Sly. I’m not agreeing with him just because I’m a huge fan, I’m agreeing with him, ’cause I’m being real. I’m no fan of the first “Batman” flick with Burton/Keaton either.

Thank god, we have Christopher Nolan to save the Batman franchise! He knows how to do Batman right, Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher can’t! Sorry!

So Sly actually did try to get Chuck Norris for the film? Jeez, it makes you wonder what’s up with Chuck Norris these days? Did Chuck retire from the entertainment industry for good? No new films, no new TV shows, no new fitness commercials, etc??? Really, Chuck, where are you? The internet constantly talks about Chuck all over the place still and we’ve heard nothing from him? WTF? Come back, Mr. Norris, we miss you!

Report: Bruce Willis joins Sylvester Stallone at San Diego Comic-Con!!!!

Look like Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t make it of course, but Bruce Willis did! Bruce was there at Comic-Con to promote his movie “Red” with Helen Mirren…but while there, Bruce made a stop to Hall H to support “The Expendables” movie with Sly and the rest of the cast.
