Cool Photo: Huh? What is this Led Zeppelin is teasing us? Are we going to get a “Led Zeppelin V”? New album on the way???

Jimmy Page, once said as soon as he gets his official website up, he was going to work on new music. Possible for a new solo album or whatever. Turns out that Jimmy must of got the guys together in Led Zeppelin and made a new album together, “Led Zeppelin V”? After a few years of Robert refusing to re-join Led Zeppelin, looks like Jimmy finally talked Robert into it, hopefully. This could be a new Led Zeppelin album, with new music. I’m hoping, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe the guys are coming back for a new album and tour after all? I’ve always wanted Led Zep to make one last and final album, and looks like it’s coming to a reality. This doesn’t really confirm a new album, this is a just a teaser of something mysterious, but it’s a big possibility that it’s a new album. They’ve been known to numbering albums: “Led Zep I”, “Led Zep II”, “Led Zep III” and “Led Zep IV: Zoso”. This could be “Led Zep V”.

Check out the band’s mysterious teaser, here.

Led Zeppelin return 2013???? Keep fingers crossed for now!

EDIT TO ADD: Or this could be the 02 reunion finally getting a DVD/BluRay/CD release. Either way it’s a possibility. This could be just a count down leading to their big announcement. Whatever it is they are teasing.

Why I like to talk about the entertainment industry online…

Some people may wonder why I like talking about the entertainment industry online, whether it will be movies, music, TV shows, wrestling, books, etc. Why I like to be opinionated and give my honest thoughts on stuff. Well, here’s the thing. I enjoy turning people on to the good stuff. I’ve had heard about people going to see a movie ’cause I reviewed it on this site and I’ve had people get interested in certain bands/artists that I like that I promote on here. People have also took some recommendations of books to read and TV shows to watch. I’m no professional critic or anything. It’s just a hobby, just something fun to do. I am finding out that a lot of people don’t understand the entertainment industry, so I use the blogs to give people insight on this stuff.

As for why I talk about professional wrestling all the time, it’s just my way of defending the business. Wrestling has always been disrespected by the public. Saying they’re a bunch of freaks in underwear all over each other, and people have hateful things to say about Vince McMahon and all that stuff. I’m just trying to get people to respect the wrestling business. Trying to get people to treat wrestling in a more positive direction.

Maybe I am a critic, but not a famous one and don’t get paid for it. I would like to become a professional critic someday and get paid for it, but it takes a college degree, I believe. I just like entertaining people locally, keep it local, but of course, people all around the world, and the US can be readers too! I do have readers from other states and other countries as well. This is why I continue to do what I do. I just want to inspire people to get into the good stuff, and it’s working too.

Instead of posting in other message boards and commenting in other blogs, this is why I have my own personal site. Just so I can have my own area to say whatever I please, without people getting their panties in a bunch about stuff. I can have my own freedom with my own place, which makes my online world much easier. I don’t use other sites to discuss the entertainment industry anymore ’cause people are too crazy. I enjoy having my own freedom right here.

Film Review: The Possession

Starring: Jeffery Dean Morgan, Natasha Calis, Kyra Sedgwick

Directed by: Ole Bornedal

Today, I’ve just seen the Sam Raimi produced PG-13 horror film, “The Possession” and here is my review…

Plot/Synopsis: A young girl named, Emily, buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside the box lives a malicious ancient spirit. Her body has been taken over by this spirit since she opened the box, and she has become possessed because of it. Emily’s father teams up with the Hasidic religious community, hoping to save Emily’s life from this demon who has taken over her.

Movie fans and critics have given this movie mixed reviews. It’s another one of those, you either love it or hate it, kind of movies. This film is doing very good in the box office and selling pretty big. So I had to see it for myself. The film is not as bad as some made it out to be. I liked it. It was a pretty good horror film for a PG-13 movie. The writing wasn’t that bad. A lot of it actually made sense, and the pacing was pretty good too. Not slow and boring like some said it was. They wanted to keep this movie a family friendly film. A horror film that is suitable for the entire family of all ages. There have been way too many exorcism movies in Hollywood as of late, it seems to be a trend, but this is something that kids can watch.

Yes, some of it is pretty graphic and gory a little bit, but not that bad. I found some of the scenes in the movie pretty silly and weren’t needed but other than that, the film was fine. The acting was okay. There were some scares and a few jumpy parts. I jumped once, and that rarely happens when I’m watching a horror film. If any horror film can make me jump like that, this reason alone is what makes me respect this film. You can tell Sam Raimi has been throwing ideas toward the writer and director ’cause this film definitely had a bit of Evil Dead style into it. It was kind of similar to Sam’s last directed horror film, “Drag Me To Hell”. Maybe the reason people didn’t like this film too much ’cause it’s a Hebrew horror film. Yes, there is such a genre in the horror world.

I thought the film ended well. I didn’t expect it. Of course, the ending leaves open for a sequel, but the ending will get you scratching your head a bit. The ending was kind of shocking. With all this being said, this is not the best horror film ever. Certainly not the best exorcism movie ever. Nothing will ever top “The Exorcist” with Linda Blair, but “The Possession” was good. It was pretty unpredictable movie and had me at the edge of my seat at times. “The Possession” was a pretty realistic exorcism movie. They made it seem like demonic possessions can be believable.

Score for “The Possession” = *** (3 stars as in “Good”)

BREAKING NEWS: Drew Peterson, GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY!

Today, Drew Peterson has been found guilty of murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio. The state of Illinois does NOT have death penalty so he will serve up to 60 years in prison. This is no surprise to me that they would find him guilty. It also shows that he definitely did something to, Stacy. Possibly murdered Stacy too and hid her body. Lets hope they’ll start investigating the disappearance of Stacy Peterson again. You know, Drew did something to her. Lets hope the truth will come out about Stacy so her family can have some answers. Now that Drew is guilty of murdering Kathleen, it shouldn’t be too hard to find out what happened to Stacy now. They will find out sooner or later.

More on the story, here.

One of my favorite things to do at local gigs, talking with musicians after their performances…

Whether I am gigging one of my own gigs, or supporting other bands/artists, one thing I love to do is talk with the musicians after the gig. When their performance is over with. I like to go up and shake hands with them, tell them “great job” and try to strike a conversation from there. There is a reason I like to do this. Not only that it’s a great way of networking with other musicians, I just like learning about their personalities. The way they are when they are not performing. Over the years in local music, I have learned that all local musicians have different personalities. Some can be very friendly and down to earth, they will care to talk to you. Some can be pretty shy, quiet, they keep for themselves. Some can be rude and can be downright douchebags. I’ve seen it all. I like to talk to musicians, as a way of observing how they can act professionally in local music. Some musicians can be great with people, some are not great to people. It’s pretty interesting that musicians have mixed feelings and emotions.

When I’m talking to musicians, I usually don’t let them know that I’m a musician too ’cause I’ll let them figure that out on their own. A lot of them usually do. I try not to promote myself with other musicians ’cause again, I want to leave my ego at the door and I try to make it about them, and not about me. I’m interested in learning more about them. Musicians can get into pretty interesting discussions. If you treat musicians with respect after a gig, they’ll treat you with respect in return. You can even land a friendship with them as well. I find musicians to be interesting people. I enjoy interacting with them.

Plus, another reason why I like to talk to musicians after their performance is so that they can feel good when they walk out of a gig. I want them to make themselves feel proud and happy, so I try my best to give them the best feedback possible. Instead of saying the typical and boring, “Good job”, I try to say things like, “That was an amazing set. Phenomenal job.” Ya know, things like that. Feedback that will put a smile on their face. Bands don’t get a lot of feedback from people from the crowd after a gig, and that’s another reason I do it. I just want to make them feel good. Try to make them have a positive night. I try to talk with each band member as much as I can.

I also enjoy buying their merchandise at shows as a way to help them out. Whether buying a CD or t-shirt, whatever, it’s all good. If you ever see me at a local gig sometime, this is what you will see. Me supporting other musicians as much as possible. If musicians don’t care to get support from ya (believe me, I’ve seen it a few times), move along, nothing to see here. Just talk to the ones that will support ya in return. They’ll give you support in return as a way to return the favor for you supporting them.

This is how you create your own scene, by talking and networking with other musicians. Whenever I’m ready to form my own band, I should have no problem finding members that will be willing to play with me ’cause I’m good at talking with musicians. I can find musicians easily and there are some out there actually enjoy my music. So I shouldn’t have a problem forming a band at all.

The Kamikaze Hearts returns for reunion show at Rest Fest and will release a live album…

The Kamikaze Hearts, an Albany folk/rock band, who have been around for years is making a return to Rest Fest this weekend, and the band will release a new live album. The band will be selling their new live album, “Live 5 – 07” at the Rest Fest show and they will be selling the live album online soon. I’ve been a fan of these guys for years and glad they’re back.

Matthew Carefully, one of the band’s members, told me on twitter, they are not sure what they are doing past Rest Fest, but I hope they will stick around and play more shows after. Not sure if this is a one off reunion or what, but who knows, maybe they are back for a while. Keep your fingers crossed for now.

See more information here on their new live album.

The Top 5 Best Young Performers in WWE today…

It’s a new era in WWE, and there’s a whole new generation of younger superstars in WWE right now. I figure it would be cool to write out my thoughts on today’s best performers. Here is my top 5:

  1. Heath Slater – He’s the long haired redheaded guy who was a former Nexus member! Before RAW 1000, he has been having segments where he would wrestle against a legendary wrestler from RAW. He would wrestle against a different legend each week leading up to RAW 1,000. Heath has main event potential and he’ll get there if WWE uses him right. He’s also creating a buzz in the wrestling world and creating a fan base. I can see him becoming a popular babyface sometime down the road.
  2. Jack Swagger – Good wrestler, good look, and good performer. He has a bit of an Owen Hart and Kurt Angle vibe about him. If WWE uses him right, he could become a main event star as well.
  3. Ryback – He is the huge bald headed wrestler who will remind you of Goldberg a little bit. He’s in the mid card division right now, but he’s another one who could have a future as a main eventer. Ryback is a cool wrestling character, just wish WWE will use him in a big storyline instead of winning against jobbers every week.
  4. Damien Sandow – This guy started getting interesting with his feud against Brodus Clay, the wrestler who dances in the ring with women each week. I think Damien could be a future WWE Champion and Hall of Famer, if they use him right.
  5. Wade Barrett – I’ve liked him ever since he started the Nexus group. Wade Barrett has been on a long break from WWE and he is returning soon. If he sticks with WWE for a long time, I can easily see him becoming the next Stone Cold/Rock, down the road. Wade is a British performer and I think he has excellent mic skills too. He is one of the best heels in WWE right now and can’t wait for his return. I hope WWE uses him big.

As for who the best new Diva is, that would be AJ Lee, I guess. AJ Lee is a young performer, maybe in her early 20’s, not sure, but her character is impressive and interesting. She’s the one you want to pay attention to the most, and she’s creating a buzz in the wrestling world too. Who knows how long WWE will use her big like this, before you know it, they would destroy her character. She’s in an interesting feud with Vickie Guerrero right now.

That’s it, enjoy the list.

Those days of local musicians seeing themselves as local musicians are over with…. have been for way over a decade…

I miss the earlier days of local music when everyone saw themselves as local musicians and unsigned. That was back in the days when the internet wasn’t as big. The internet certainly changed the way local musicians look at music for sure. Pretty much most local musicians want to see themselves as rock stars these days. They either think they are “indie” artists or they think they are famous or something. They want to think of themselves as something important and great. Most unsigned acts want to make the big time ’cause they get so obsessed with the mainstream.

I still see myself as a true local musician. What makes someone a true local musician? The way I look at it, is someone who doesn’t obsess with fame and doesn’t see themselves as a “local” superstar. A true local musician is someone who isn’t a self centered ego-maniac like most musicians seem to be these days. Someone who isn’t worried about how many people show up at your gigs or what kind of venue you play at. Someone who doesn’t mind going to open mics all the time just to play out. Someone who actually sees music as a hobby, and not a job. Most musicians around here see music as a “job”, but not with me. I never lived the rock star lifestyle as a local musician like most seemed to do these days. Someone who doesn’t care to get paid or not. A true local musician is someone who doesn’t think they’re bigger or better than other people. They would also admit that their talent is crap, that they play for the love of it.

It’s sad that the way this scene is, but it is what it is, everyone wants to see themselves as stars lately. I’ve never had that problem over the years. I try my best to not be a self centered person and try to leave my ego at the door. I try to support other musicians and music fans as much as possible. I try my best to have a positive musical life. I see music as a way of life. If you’re doing it for fame or for your own ego, then you’re doing it for all the wrong reasons. Music makes me human. I’ll never get away from it. I’ll be a musician and music lover ’til the day I die.

I’m not disrespecting the scene in anyway, just being real about stuff. I hope all musicians and bands get success and move forward, but when they do, that doesn’t make them any better than others. There are only very few local musicians around here that see themselves as local musicians, but we don’t see that much around here anymore. I blame that on social networking sites like myspace/facebook over the years. That’s when musicians started to show that they all suffer delusions of grandeur. Musicians are nuts, I tell ya.

RIP: Michael Clarke Duncan 1957 – 2012

Michael Clarke Duncan is an actor who I’ve always respected. While he is most famous for his role as John Coffey in “The Green Mile” a Stephen King adapted film directed by Frank Darabont, he was great in many other roles too. He was a good guy who had a very positive career, which is probably the main reason why I respected him so much. Most actors turned their careers in a negative direction, but not with Michael. Michael always seemed friendly, down to earth and immediately likeable the moment you set eyes upon him. Plus, he was one talented actor. Again, he may have been popular for his role in “The Green Mile” but he is very underrated in his other work too. I remembered him in “Armageddon”, “The Scorpion King”, Tim Burton’s “Planet of the Apes”, “Daredevil”, and “Sin City”.

Michael was born and grew up in, Chicago. He always had dreams of acting, but since he was living in a single parent household (his father left them), he had to give up acting classes in college, so he can take care of his ill mother. He started off working jobs by digging ditches for People’s Gas Company and was a bouncer for several night clubs in Chicago. In 1979, he also participated in the Disco Demolition Night, at Comiskey Park, home of the Chicago White Sox baseball team.

Later on, Michael moved to Los Angeles to try to get some acting gigs in commercials, while he continued to work as a bouncer at clubs in L.A. At this time, Michael was a bodyguard for Hollywood’s biggest stars, such as Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, Martin Lawrence, and Notorious B.I.G. After rapper Notorious B.I.G. was shot and killed in 1997, that’s when Michael stopped working for security and being a bodyguard for good. The next year later, he was casted for a role as Bear, in the film, “Armageddon”. That was the film which helped him get the role as John Coffey for “The Green Mile”, in which he won an Academy award for. After “The Green Mile”, Michael’s film career kept getting better and better, he kept starring in movie roles and doing voice overs for animated films.

Earlier this summer, Michael was taken to a hospital due to a heart attack. Michael passed away yesterday morning in Los Angeles. He is survived by his fiance, Omarosa, who he planned to marry later this year. Michael Clarke Duncan was 54 years old.
