Famous author and writer Michael Crichton has passed away in Los Angeles, he was 66. He has been battling cancer privately for quite some time now. He is the author of best selling novels such as “Jurassic Park”, “Timeline” and “The Andromeda Strain”.

Many of his novels were made into major movies which Steven Spielberg directed the first two Jurassic Park movies, they became the biggest movies of all time. Crichton’s novel “Congo” was also made into a film. Crichton’s work became a huge influence to many readers out there especially high school students. The next sequel will be titled “Road to Purgatory” which will leave off from the first film, Michael Sullivan Jr. returns home from World War II and seeks revenge for the murder of his father. The third film will be titled “Road to Paradise” but this article didn’t reveal plot ideas for the third one though.

More on it here:

“Road To Perdition” starring Tom Hanks is one of my favorite films, I love that film to death but is a trilogy really necessary? I don’t know. Depends on how good the story is and who the casting is going to be and then I’ll decide if a full trilogy is worth it.

Film Review: Changeling

Starring: Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich

Directed by: Clint Eastwood

Just got back from a long day in Saratoga on my day off of work, went to the mall to see a movie and other things. Today I saw the movie “Changeling” the new film by Clint Eastwood. He didn’t star in it at all, he just directed the film.

Plot/synopsis: Story centers around a single mother named Christine Collins (Jolie) living in Los Angeles, it is the year 1928. She lives with her 9 year old son named Walter Collins. One day coming home from work, she is a supervisor for the phone operators, she discovers her son Walter is missing when she left him home alone. After looking for her son Walter all day long, she gives up and calls the police to report a missing child. Several months later, the LA PD tells Christine that they find her son alive and well. They set up a reunion at the Union Station (a train station) when Christine and her son reunites, she immediately realized that it wasn’t really him, it was a fake Walter impersonating her son. She tried to explain that the boy they found wasn’t really Walter Collins but no one would listen to her and thinks it’s really him, so the LA PD forced her to take the boy home.

When Christine took the fake Walter Collins home, she begins to investigate him trying to figure out why the boy is pretending to be Walter Collins. She was unsuccessful. When she tries to report this matter to the police once again to complain to LA PD that her son is still missing, the LA PD doesn’t buy what she says. They still believe what they found was her son and she still says it isn’t him. The LA PD immediately throws Christine Collins in the mental hospital. While her time in the mental hospital for women, she befriended another insane patient named Carol who also had experience being thrown in the hospital for the insane by starting trouble with the law.

While, Christine is stuck in the mental hospital, the LA PD arrested a boy at a home for illegal immigration. Det. Ybarra arrested the boy and took him to the police station for custody. The boy explains to Det. Ybarra for the immigration that he was forced to help kill 20  children with his cousin who is a child serial killer. The boy explains to the Det. that the killer named Gordon Northcott (his cousin). The boy confirms that Walter Collins, Christine’s son was one of those victims.

Does Christine ever find her son alive? Is he dead? You’ll have to watch the movie yourself to find out. That’s as far as I will go with the story ’cause there are some surprising twists and turns.

My thoughts on the film? As usual Clint Eastwood never dissapoints with his films. Angelina Jolie’s acting is amazing as usual. This movie is taking place in the 1920’s, so she isn’t supposed to be hot and sexy looking, that’s the way women used to look like back in those days.

I really enjoyed the story, the acting of the cast were good all around. Not too many big name stars in the film either. Only two big names in the film are Angelina and John Malkovich. Eastwood did a fine job keeping this film unpredictable, I sure didn’t know what was going to happen next. You never knew if Christine’s son is ever going to be found dead or alive.

Great job once again, Clint. I LOVED THE FILM! It’s not one of his best films ever made but “Changeling” was an excellent film though. Usually these kind of movies taken place in the 1920’s can be kind of boring but Clint didn’t make this movie boring. He kept you glued to the story and will get the viewers of this film talking. It is reccomended. Check it out if you like a good mystery type of film.

Score for “Changeling” = **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Report: “Two Lovers” is to be Joaquin Phoenix’s final film before he’s done with movies for good…

Oh my, 34 year old actor Joaquin Phoenix is really serious about quitting movies, he’s really doing it!!!!

His publicist confirmed that his final film will be “Two Lovers”. “Two Lovers” is a romantic drama film which Joaquin stars with Gwyneth Paltrow. After Joaquin’s finished promoting and marketing that movie, he’s done with acting for good and forever, just like that, he’s finished.

Joaquin became a musician while filming the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line”. Before then, he never played guitar or sang, but he was given guitar lessons and learned to sing through a vocal coach for the film. Joaquin Phoenix is committed to starting a full time music career, making albums and going on world tours, all of it. Joaquin for those who don’t know is the younger brother of child star of the late River Phoenix.

Variety Reports:

I wonder what type of music Joaquin plans on getting into the music business.

Rock or country or a little bit of both? Who knows.

I’m sure we’ll hear more from Joaquin about his future music career of what he wants to do.

This totally sucks though, I don’t like how he’s turning his back on Hollywood. He’s a talented actor, I like him a lot. I think he’s probably getting sick of acting and music would give him more free time for himself.

Cool Video: “Angels and Demons” teaser trailer NOW online!!!

The Ron Howard and Tom Hanks movie “Angels and Demons” which is a prequel to the movie “The Da Vinci Code” based upon the books by Dan Brown, the teaser trailer to the prequel is now online finally.

The film looks great!

See the trailer at the films official website here:

http://angelsanddemons.msn.com/#/trailer/

Remember this is NOT a sequel to “The Da Vinci Code”, this is a prequel which means the story happened before. Honestly, I thought “Angels and Demons” was a much better book than “The Da Vinci Code”.

Dan Brown did once announce that he is writing a sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” to complete the trilogy.

BREAKING NEWS: “Who am I? SHO’NUFF? Who am I? SHO’NUFF? I CAN’T HEAR YOU! SHO’NUFFFFFF!!!” Yep, Samuel L. Jackson will play villain in “The Last Dragon” remake…

“I AM THE SHOGUN OF HARLEM!!!!!!”

Yep, you heard that right. Legendary actor and icon, Samuel L. Jackson, has signed a deal to star as the main villain Sho’nuff in “The Last Dragon” remake. “The Last Dragon” will be remade by the 1985 film which the story is created by Berry Gordy. John Davis and Berry Gordy’s son, Kerry, will be producing.

The story of both versions is about a young teenage black man named Leroy Green who dreams of becoming an expert martial artist. In order to become that expert you must reach to something called the “Final Level” which possesses “The Glow”. It is where your entire body glows and you become this fighting machine. While he struggles to reach for “The Glow”, he must defeat these villains and Sho’nuff the leader of the villains is a tough man to beat.

Their goal for the remake, is that they want to make it a homage to the original film but to also give it a today’s update version of it.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i6aed018f8f53c49b3b1b35ae3321cebd

Fuck yeah! Sam L. Jackson will kick ass at this role! Perfect choice for Sho’nuff!

“The Last Dragon” used to be one of my favorite films back in the 80’s, used to watch it all the time everytime it came on TV. I haven’t seen it in a long time though, but seeing the clips in the video below brings back memories to that great action film. I’ll probably end up buying the DVD of the original film sometime.

I wonder who’s going to play Leroy Green in the remake? Since Leroy is a teen in the movie it’s gotta be a younger actor.

It is indeed a classic and a fun flick.

Report: Mark Millar reveals more “Superman” trilogy plans…

Comic book writer and creator, Mark Millar, is moving forward to his “Superman” trilogy dreams. The man wants to create an 8 hour trilogy, w/ Lord of the Rings and the Godfather style like “Superman” films.

He confirms he has found a big name director that he will work on this movie with, and he isn’t saying who that director is as of yet.

Mark Millar reveals more plot ideas. He says he wants the Superman trilogy to continue in a three part story, beggining with Kal-El being born on his home planet of Krypton, how he landed in Smallville where Jonathan and Martha Kent found him, Kal-El later became Clark Kent/Superman where he got a job as a news reporter at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, etc. It’s going to have it all. It’s look like Mark Millar wants the new Superman movies to stay true to the original comics. He says he wants the trilogy to end with Superman being the last man on Earth where our planet is being close to being destroyed.

He also explains that he wants the new Superman movies to be completely different. This is not going to be a homage to the Richard Donner film that Bryan Singer wanted it to be. It’s probably not going to have the classic John Williams score and all that.

More on it here:

http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=23521

The plot is sounding great. I love Mark Millar’s idea. Can’t wait to see who the director is going be as well.

Millar should still have the John Williams music though, so I hope he keeps the opening theme song for Superman as well.
