Whatever happened to watching the movie first before making an opinion? (New Ghostbusters film related)

These days more and more people have been giving their opinions on movies before it even comes out. Why has that been happening lately? I totally blame the internet for that for sure. These days social networking like facebook and twitter has been ruining the enjoyment of movies. Also movie critic websites like Ain’t It Cool News, CominSoon, The Hollywood Reporter and many others. Too many have been releasing too many movie scoops like releasing photos from the movies, revealing movie posters too early and things like that. That’s been happening a lot in the age of the internet which drives people into making an opinion before a movie comes out. I wish people would stop previewing what the movie is like before it comes out and maybe that would help stop judging the movie before it comes out but whatever.

I’ve always learned that it’s a pretty bad idea to negatively judge a film before it comes out. I always see the film first and then I make my opinion. What’s wrong with people when they review films before they even come out? I would never do that.

With that being said, I’m still willing to give the all-female “Ghostbusters” movie a chance. I’m gonna see it this weekend hopefully. Who knows, maybe I’ll even like it myself and maybe it won’t be all that bad?

I never listen to movie critics. That’s the last thing you want to do. Always go by your own opinion and not worry about what everyone else thinks.

Film Review: The Neon Demon

Starring: Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves

Directed by: Nicolas Wingding Refn

Today I just went and saw the movie, “The Neon Demon” and here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.

Before you go see this movie, I’ll have to warn you that this movie isn’t for everyone. This is definitely one of those films that will make you say, “What the fuck did I just watch”? If you like David Lynch films and Stanley Kubrick films then you would probably enjoy this one. I got interested in this film after seeing trailers for it online. This is one of those films where you have a hard time understanding what it’s about. Trying to find out what’s going on. You ever watch movies like “Mulholland Drive” and “Eyes Wide Shut”? Well, “The Neon Demon” is kind of like those two films but different.

“The Neon Demon” is a psychological horror and thriller film. The film can get quite intense and graphic, though but the visuals are pretty impressive and stunning. Even the movie was kind of slow pacing, I enjoyed the film a lot. Thought it was great. In the film, it’s about these young girls aspiring to become models. They think they’re beautiful and they know it. So they’re trying to make their dreams come true and they’re not realizing the dangers of what they’re getting into.

The film is kind of creepy and scary. One thing to be aware though that this film is very colorful hence the word “Neon”. Watching this film will make you feel like you’re tripping on acid.

As far as the casting goes, Elle Fanning was a good actress. I really liked her. Keanu Reeves is in it but he only has a small role so he was a cameo pretty much.

It’s a great horror film and probably the best horror film this year. The film actually had unpredictability and the ending was shocking (of course, I won’t give anything away). Not many have heard about this film ’cause it wasn’t promoted much and it’s only playing in selected theaters but I would strongly suggest you to check this movie out, though. It’s a great one and I think I’m gonna get the BluRay when it comes out. I had to see this film out of curiosity.

Score for “The Neon Demon” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

“Spotlight” was surprisingly a very good film, watched it on Netflix last night…

I remember last year when the Oscars was around, “Spotlight” won Best Picture last year. Another movie that stars Michael Keaton. I remember being disappointed that “Spotlight” won Best Picture over “The Revenant” movie. After finally seeing the movie “Spotlight” last night on Netflix, I’m now realizing that the Oscars giving “Spotlight” the Best Picture win was the right choice after all. “Spotlight” really was an excellent film. I loved it actually, I might even watch it again later tonight. After you get done watching the movie the first time and you want to give it a second viewing, that’s when you know the film is that damn good.

“Spotlight” is a great story based on a real life thing. The film has a great cast, the writing is surprisingly good and best of all, Michael Keaton kills it with his acting like usual. The cast of this movie is pretty killer: Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, Stanley Tucci, Billy Crudup, etc.

If you have Netflix, this film is worth a look. I’m definitely gonna get my own copy of the film on BluRay, I think. Turned out to be a great film after all.

“Casablanca” is one of the greatest romance movies ever, screw “The Notebook”…

I’m not into romantic movies that much but there are a couple of good ones out there and this film “Casablanca” is one of them. You wanna watch a true love story watch, “Casablanca”. I just picked it up on BluRay over the weekend finally. I believe “Casablanca” is one of my favorite films of all time, it’s in the top 10 now. Gotta love the performance of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman too.

I know a lot of women love to watch a lot of romance films but they would rather watch garbage like “The Notebook”, “Titanic” or “Dirty Dancing” but not me. I would rather watch something like “Casablanca”, “The Princess Bride” or “Amelie”. Nothing will top “Casablanca” though ’cause that film is a classic and a masterpiece for sure. “Casablanca” is also true cinema. They don’t make movies like this anymore. “Casablanca” is one film I could never get tired of watching.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/

Most romance flicks over the years have been directed at women but I think it’s safe to say that men and women can both enjoy “Casablanca”. I hope Hollywood never remakes this film ’cause if they do, I’m gonna be pissed. I’m glad I got it on BluRay finally ’cause it was hard to find in the stores. I’ll probably watch this film again later this week.

Film Review: “X-Men: Apocalypse”

Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner

Directed by: Bryan Singer

So today I’ve just seen the new “X-Men: Apocalypse” and here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: With the emergence of the world’s first mutant, Apocalypse, the X-Men must unite to defeat his extinction level plan.

I’m a huge fan of the X-Men movies but this one was kind of disappointing to be honest with you. Reasons being is that no. 1 is that it had way too much CGI. I think this film overdone it with the CGI… I felt like I was watching a huge computer game on screen or something. Reason 2 it wasn’t that good is because I thought the writing was a mess and it’s just a typical popcorn film. The movie is a full 2 and a half hours long. The film had too many characters, in my opinion.

I do have a few positives of the film, though. I like seeing Sophie Turner who played Jean Grey. Sophia Turner mostly famous for playing Sansa Stark in the “Game of Thrones” series. She did a great job in the film too. As usual, I think Michael Fassbender makes a great young Magneto.

It’s just a disappointing film and kind of boring. I did like how it explained the friendship of Xavier and Magneto though which is one thing we’ve all been wondering for years. With that being sad, this film wasn’t all that great and nothing special.

I’ll give it a 2 out of 5 stars as in “okay”.

Film Review: The Conjuring 2…

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Madison Wolfe

Directed by James Wan

So today I’ve just seen “The Conjuring 2”. I’ve seen the first one and thought it was great so I’ve seen the 2nd one today. Here’s my review.

Plot/Synopsis: Lorraine and Ed Warren travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

This story tells about the real-life story of the Enfield Haunting over in the UK. I’m a huge fan of the Conjuring movies ’cause they make you think that haunted houses and demonic possession is real. They make you think that stuff is believable and it probably is real. That’s what makes “The Conjuring” movies so scary. I think James Wan is getting better at every horror film he makes. He does a good job at making horror films where there’s less blood & gore. You’re not gonna see much blood & gore in this movie. In my opinion, that’s what makes a true horror film is when they don’t rely on the blood & gore too much.

The movie is a good 2 and a half hours so you will see plenty of scares. I love the unpredictability in this film ’cause you never knew what was going to happen next. If you want an “edge of your seat” film, this film will do it to you. I thought it was better than the first and scarier than the first. This movie makes me want to research more about the Enfield Haunting. Tells the real life story of Janet Hodgson. If you ever wanted to know more about the Amityville Horror this film will give you more insight.

I love horror films based on real life events ’cause they’re so inspiring. I’m sure they’re inspiring other people too which is why these movies are being so successful. I think Patrick Wilson is a phenomenal actor too and these movies are gonna help him become a big star.

“The Conjuring 2” was really great. No complaints at all really. Finally a good horror film with a plot, good writing and good acting too. It was an excellent film all around.

Score for “The Conjuring 2” = **** (4 stars as in “Excellent”

Dwayne Johnson finally confirms he’s playing “Doc Savage”… his first superhero film…

Director Shane Black has been wanting the Rock to play “Doc Savage” and ever since then rumors been swirling for a long while now that Dwayne Johnson was gonna get the role. Today on Memorial Day, Dwayne the man himself finally confirmed the news.

This is one superhero movie that I’m interested in ’cause like most fans, I too believe that Dwayne Johnson could play Doc Savage and do it well. In my opinion, I think only Dwayne could play character and nobody else.

I never read any Doc Savage comics but googling it and seeing the pictures, I can easily see Dwayne playing that character right away.

I watch a lot of superhero films ’cause I’m not a big comic book reader but Doc Savage looks cool and I’m looking forward to seeing what they’re gonna do with the film. It’s probably gonna be a big action movie. Doc Savage is a big muscular tough guy which is why Dwayne fits the role.

What’s with all these lame TV show reboots?

There’s a lot of TV show reboots coming to the small screen with shows like “24: Legacy”, “Lethal Weapon”, “MacGyver”, “Training Day”, etc. I’m sure there’s plenty more coming your way too. I saw the trailers for “24: Legacy” and “MacGyver” and I wasn’t that crazy about either of them. They both look horrible and I’m sure all the other shows will be horrible too. What is it with these TV show reboots all of a sudden? Does Hollywood honestly think we’ll be interested in seeing all of these?

I think it’s a proven fact that people in America are getting pretty fed up with remakes and reboots. We don’t care about those but Hollywood keeps coming out with them. I think it’s because they don’t care what we like as long as it makes them the money, ya know? I’m starting to get tired of all these remakes and reboots myself.

What movie fans wanna see is something original and different. Hollywood can never come up with something original or different… the new movies and TV shows that comes out, they always gotta be remakes and reboots. I too am starting to believe that Hollywood can’t come up with anything new and original these days. It’s just sad.

I maybe a huge movie buff and all but I don’t like where the industry is going these days myself. Too many reboots, remakes, sequels and too many superhero films. What happened to originality? I believe the only reason Hollywood doesn’t make anything “original” is simply because it doesn’t make them the money. Remakes and reboots helps make them the money and helps Hollywood survive. They would do whatever keeps them in business. Period.

New Lara Croft found for new Tomb Raider reboot… who is it???

Alicia Vikander who is the star of the “Ex-Machina” movie is now the new Lara Croft for the upcoming “Tomb Raider” reboot. She’ll be taking over the role that Angelina Jolie portrayed twice.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/28/tomb-raider-reboot-casts-oscar-winner-alicia-vikander-as-lara-croft

I only liked the first Tomb Raider with Angie but the second one kind of sucked. I hope they make the next movie right next time ’cause I’m a pretty big Lara Croft fan. I love all the Tomb Raider games. Huge fan of them.

Hope they do a good job with the next movie and hope they make it more like the video game. I’m sure the movie will be full of action scenes, of course but they need to focus on story like the original games were. I’d like to see Lara solving puzzles in historical places like in the games, ya know? That’s what the next movie needs.

I’m a big Tomb Raider fan so I hope they don’t mess the next movie up. Please give it a good script this time.
