Charlie Hunnam says, “Okay, the 50 Shades of Grey script sucks, so I’m out”…

Charlie Hunnam famous for his role as Jax Teller in, “Sons Of Anarchy” was signed to play Christian Grey for the “50 Shades of Grey” film at first but now he bailed out due to conflicts with the script against the studio. Charlie is now in a heated feud against Universal Studios over creative differences of the script for the big screen “50 Shades” movie. Hunnam complained to the studio about the script by sending them extensive notes to the studio about the script which the studio took positively. Hunnam who is a screenwriter himself requested further script approval but was denied by the studio… this led to a heated feud.

Universal hired another writer for re-writes but Hunnam bailed out of the movie the next day.

So Charlie bailed out ’cause he didn’t like the script? Well, that’s no surprise ’cause I had a feeling that was coming. Too predictable. I give Charlie kudos for being real and honest, though. I wish Universal luck for finding their leading male star for this film ’cause I’m feeling that a lot of other actors are not gonna like the script either. Women may like the book but from a guy’s perspective — they would have different feelings on “50 Shades”. It doesn’t matter how many times Universal rewrites the movie, it’s going to suck no matter what. If the book sucked… expect the movie to be the same. Charlie was only offered $125,000 anyway so for a movie star… that’s not enough if you think about it. Especially a big film like this with all the sex scenes and stuff.

Film Review: Escape Plan…

Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, Vincent D’Onofrio, Sam Neill, 50 Cent, Amy Ryan

Directed by: Mikael Hafstrom

Well, now that my area finally opened a new movie theater called, “Criterion Cinemas” (or Bowtie whichever), the Grand Opening was today. I decided to go to the movies to check out, “Escape Plan”. The new film starring Sly and Arnie! Here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: A structural-security authority named Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) is an expert on escaping from the highest security prisons. He can easily escape from any prison in the world. So to stop other prisoners from having the potential to escape, Ray must build and design an escape-proof prison himself. However, things go wrong — Ray is framed and incarcerated in his own prison that he designed himself. The prison he designed is a futuristic prison with glass walls and the guards are all dressed in black and masked. Ray needs to escape his own prison that he built and find who ever put him in there.

Sly is no stranger to starring in prison films. As a matter of fact, he starred in a prison film called, “Lock Up” (released in 1989). This is a whole different prison film. This new film, “Escape Plan”, has gotten mixed reviews but that’s typical with Sly Stallone movies. Pretty much all of his movies over the years have gotten mixed reviews from critics and movie fans.

What a lot of people are saying is that they are saying that the action in this movie is not as fun. I don’t know if they saw the same movie I saw but I thought the action was fine. There were some pretty entertaining fights, gun shooting and explosions; however, this movie concentrated on the story the most. It was way more than an action movie. When Arnold and Sly stars in a movie together, everybody would immediately think that the movie will be violent w/graphic scenes. The violence in this movie wasn’t graphic and disturbing but I think it wasn’t meant to be. I think the reason people are disappointed with this film is that they expected this film to be an epic action movie knowing that Sly and Arnold are in it together ’cause that’s what they were known for over the years. After I saw the film… I immediately thought that this movie is a mystery/suspense kind of film. It was more of a “whodunit” kind of thing. What this movie is basically about is “who” put Ray Breslin in his own prison that he built himself.

What I liked about this film also is that it had a bit of an 80’s throwback. It had an old school feeling to it. The visuals of the new prison Ray built were pretty impressive and interesting. Something different.

I was also surprised by the casting. I was surprised to see Vincent D’Onofrio as you all would know him from “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”… and Vincent did a real good job in this film. I thought Jim Caviezel made an awesome badguy as he played the prison’s warden. Jim played an excellent badguy that you really wanted to hate. Sam Neill killed it as well even though he had a smaller role, he played the prison’s doctor.

Most importantly, this movie was all about Sly and Arnold. Finally, YES, FINALLY, after all these years teaming up in a big movie together. I like these two being the main co-stars on the big screen. They have so much chemistry together and they work-well together so I really hope they do a lot more films playing the leading role like this. As usual, this film makes them look like tough guys. Arnold with his usual machine guns and funny one-liners… Arnie had a funny one-liner in this film that had me crackin’ up, I don’t want to spoil it. You’ll hear him say it toward the end of the film. Like usual while Arnie likes violence and action… he wants his characters to be funny and comedic like they always are. Sly and Arnold never starred in movies together in the past ’cause I guess they didn’t get along at first… Sly confirmed it himself on Letterman the other night. It’s about time, and this was long overdue!

I thought “Escape Plan” was a very fun and exciting movie. It was pretty good. I liked it!

I’ll give it a two thumbs up.

That punk rock dude in “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” what he does look like now???

Leonard Nimoy reunites with a special someone from, “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”. Who is it? Well, it’s that punk rock dude on the bus who Spock gives the nerve pinch to for playing the loud music (see the video below of the scene from the movie itself). Remember, Leonard directed the film himself and the man who played the punk rock kid is Kirk Thatcher. Kirk Thatcher even wrote the song himself that was playing on the boombox.

See what the punk rock dude looks like now 27 years later after “Star Trek IV” was released, here. Leonard sent that photo out on his twitter account.

Pretty cool stuff! “Star Trek IV” is my favorite Trek film too!

That new Arnold and Sly movie coming out this weekend…

Yes, I do have plans in seeing “Escape Plan” this weekend when that new movie theater open in downtown Saratoga Springs. I’m planning on seeing it this coming Friday. This is Arnold and Sly’s first big movie together. Well, Arnie was in the first two Expendables movies with Sly but they were just cameo roles for Arnie, though. Arnold is pretty much in the leading role in this one along with Sly. This movie tells a story about a man who builds his own prison which Sly plays and he gets trapped into his own prison that he built — he must escape it himself. The plot actually sounds kind of interesting!

As some of you know, I’m a huge fan of both Arnold and Sly… can’t wait to see them both together.

It’s been long overdue for them to star in movies together. Arnold and Sly may have been friends for years — their friendship go way back in the 80’s but the reason they haven’t starred in movies together in the past is because they were both worried about their egos getting in the way. Now, they feel it’s a good time to star in movies together and I agree. These guys are getting old and you can only live once so might as well go for it!

Can’t wait to see this flick!

I saw Sly’s last movie, “Bullet To The Head” for DVD rental and it wasn’t all that special so hopefully this film will be a lot better. Best of all, this film has Jim Caviezel in it and that guy is a great actor!

The two new movie theaters will open soon and it will be great to start going to the movies again as I miss it. Yes, going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do. I haven’t been to the movies since I’ve seen “Man of Steel”.

There are other good movies out that I want to see. I want to see: “Gravity”, “Captain Phillips”, “Machete Kills”, and the new “Carrie” film. I plan to see them all but one at a time. “Gravity” will be the next movie I’ll see after “Escape Plan”. I got some catching up to do!

Is Sheri Moon using Rob Zombie to get a career in acting? I’d say absolutely!!!

Last night, I finally watched Rob Zombie’s latest directed horror film, “The Lords of Salem”, which stars Rob’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie in the leading role. It’s about the Salem witches and the occult. I’d have to say that the movie was actually pretty interesting and it was okay but what ruined it was Sheri Moon in the leading role. She’s not a great actress at all, and I think Rob’s film making career is going to tank if he keeps having her in his films. Sheri’s acting sucks and she’s not a good looking lady at all. The plot was actually pretty decent as I liked the story it told — it’s just Rob’s choice of the leading actress that bothered me.

Sheri Moon starred in Rob’s previous films but they were supporting roles for “House of 1,000 Corpses”, “The Devils Rejects”, “Halloween”, and “Halloween II”. Now she gets her first leading role in, “The Lords of Salem”.

From what I understand, Sheri Moon’s acting career started when Rob had her star in many of his solo career music videos. He also had her on a few album single covers and a cover of a remix album. She got her start as a dancer for White Zombie, Rob’s previous band.

She did one Rob Zombie directed-less project for example, she had a role in Tobe Hooper’s, “Toolbox murders”.

I think it’s pretty obvious that Rob is totally obsessed with this woman and he’s doing whatever it takes to give her a big career in film. Well, his goal isn’t working ’cause all of the movies Rob directed with her in it flopped in the box office (with the exception of the “Halloween” remake which was a big hit) and his movies got negative reviews by the public.

Come on, Rob. If the guy can pick other good actresses other than her, than maybe his films WILL be more successful. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next directed horror film he does, he will have Sheri Moon in some type of role again. Rob is a talented film maker and writer. No doubt about that, I’m not knocking his talent at all. I’m only knocking his obsession with Sheri Moon. He really needs to back off on her and give other actresses a chance.

In my opinion, I think she’s just a gold digger who just married him for a career boost and for the money, of course. When will Rob Zombie himself wake up and realize this? I sure can’t wait for the divorce to come ’cause that’s gonna be entertaining stuff. She could be more richer and more famous than him someday — he’s going to one day regret what he did. Again, he’s a creative and talented guy, it’s just that his obsession with Sheri Moon is crazy stuff.

I don’t mean to spoil things with the “Lords of Salem” but I didn’t find it a surprise that the first scene she appeared in… yep, it had to be a nude scene. They didn’t show her tits, though… just her ass.

With that being said, I’m with most movie fans that it’s pretty insane that he have to have her in every film he does. Don’t be surprised if he gets her again for his next movie. I wish he would try to direct a horror film without her for once… he should at least give it a try.

Plastic surgery finally confirmed on Marilyn Monroe but I’m not surprised…

For many years, it’s been a big mystery on whether or not Marilyn Monroe was a natural beauty. She pretty much was a “natural”; she only had surgery done on the tip of her nose and her chin — that was it. This has been confirmed after her plastic surgery documents been released to the public and now it’s about to get auctioned off.

If you look at her before and after photos in this article, here… you immediately notice a slight difference of her face in those photos.

I don’t care whether she had plastic surgery or not. Why does the media have to make a big deal about it? Most female stars over the years might have done plastic surgery. Even all the classic female stars from the 50’s have probably done it too. Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Jane Russell, Grace Kelley, etc.

Even male actors have done plastic surgery.

As long as you have the money and if you’re not impressed with your appearance — then why not?

I’m still a huge fan of Marilyn, and always will be.

New movie theaters will be open in my area soon!

There will be two new movie theaters opening soon in my area in, Upstate New York. One theater called, Criterion Theater, will open Oct. 18th in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the other theater will open in the Wilton Mall, Oct. 25th. Regal Cinemas closed down at the Wilton Mall last year and we haven’t had a movie theater all year long pretty much. That’s why movie reviews to new movies have slowed down on this blog. I only saw 4 new movies in theater this year in 2013 so far, they were: “Man of Steel”, “42”, “Evil Dead”, and “Fast and Furious 6” but I saw those movies out of the area at other theaters. I’ve been waiting for most of the new releases to come out through Netflix DVD rental which I have been doing.

Over the weekend, I rented the movie,  “Warm Bodies”, that zombie love story which I actually liked btw. Maybe I’ll give that film a brief review in another post.

Once these new movie theaters open at the end of the month, I’ll start going to the movies a lot more often and the reviews will pick back up again. There are three movies out this month that I’m gonna be able to want to see and I’ll try to see them in Nov. What movies are they? Well, I want to see “Gravity” (yes that Clooney space movie), the new “Carrie” film, and “Captain Phillips” w/Tom Hanks. Which one will I see first? I’m probably gonna check out, “Gravity” first. Been looking forward to that one for a long time.

It may sound crazy but it’s been tough for local people around here with no movie theater. Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do and it’ll be great to go start going again. I heard these two new cinemas are gonna be really good too! Better sound system, better picture, better seats, good food, etc.

Can’t wait for these new movie theaters! I missed going to the movies.

Look like Netflix kept “Top Gun” streaming after all!!!

After watching a little bit of TV on Netflix this evening… I have noticed that Netflix decided to keep “Top Gun” w/ Tom Cruise on Netflix streaming after all!!! I swore they put up a notice that they were going to take it off on Oct 1st. It’s Oct 1st today and “Top Gun” is still on there for streaming but it don’t have the “Available until October 1st” text on there anymore. Look like Netflix got too many complaints from “Top Gun” fans. I’m glad they decided to keep it on there. So enjoy!!!!

Top Gun, why take it off streaming on Netflix???

Over the weekend, I had to re-watch “Top Gun” on Netflix since I had it in my instant que and they are about ready to take it off streaming Oct. 1st, that’s tomorrow. My question is why?

I have seen “Top Gun” too many times over the years but the weird thing about that is, I haven’t seen this film in a long time. I decided to re-watch this film for a bit of a throwback and I almost forgot how great this film really is. It really is a beautiful film. Some scenes maybe kind of cheesy but that’s the 80’s, ya know? Everything about this film is so great. The writing, the acting, casting, and even the soundtrack is really good! You probably remember the songs, “Danger Zone”, and “Take My Breathe Away”. Plus, the iconic opening instrumental theme. Also, Val Kilmer’s performance is what helps make this movie great! This film has a mix of genres into one: it’s a drama, a love story, action movie, comedy, etc.

There have been talks that Jerry Bruckheimer is planning a Top Gun sequel that will reunite Tom and Val in the leading role.

To be honest, I don’t think the film really needs a sequel ’cause the original is just perfect just the way it is! It is one of Tom’s best films in his career and I think I’m gonna buy the film on Blu Ray soon since they are taking it off Netflix streaming.

“Top Gun” is still streaming on Netflix but it’s only available for tonight, I believe. They will take it off tomorrow so if you wanna watch “Top Gun” on Netflix better hurry up and watch it tonight if you got nothing to watch! I hate when Netflix takes off good movies. Especially the essential ones like “Top Gun”. Maybe they’re trying to make more room for other films or it has something to do with licensing/permission? Don’t know.

Here is Val Kilmer talking with Larry King on plans for “Top Gun 2”.

It’s a shame what happened to Tony Scott. He was a talented film director.

Why Dolph Lundgren haven’t directed an Expendables movie yet but will he ever in the future? Dolph himself explains…

Two “Expendables” movies have already past and a third one is currently filming. Dolph Lundgren has had a long career of directing films himself but he has mostly directed low budget B-movies. So far, Dolph hasn’t directed an Expendables movie. So many fans have been wondering why Dolph haven’t directed an Expendables movie yet since Dolph has directed violent action movies himself and Dolph, the man himself, finally explains why in this Q&A video directly to a fan. Why Dolph haven’t directed an Expendables movie himself yet? I’m sure Sly and the film crew would welcome him to direct an EXP movie but Dolph says he isn’t ready yet. That’s the reason. He has directed low budget and high budget films before — he’s just not ready to direct a big blockbuster like “The Expendables”. Still though, he says, “we’ll see”, so that’s a definite maybe. So keep our fingers crossed for now on whether or not Dolph will be ready to direct EXP 4 or 5.

I totally agree that Dolph should direct an “Expendables” movie. I have seen some of Dolph’s directed action movies like “Command Performance”. He’s very good with violent action scenes… that’s why he would be good to direct an Expendables movie. Maybe not now but Dolph said maybe sometime in the future.

Dolph seems like a real nice man in real life.

Watch the video, here.

I love how he explains the difference between directing a low budget film and a high budget film. Dolph is the freakin’ man! Always admired the guy!
