I’m pretty proud of these guys. The new “Evil Dead” movie, is the #1 movie in America just over the weekend. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m going to see it today at a different mall. The original trilogy didn’t do very well in the box office back in the day, but their new “Evil Dead” film, became a hit. So that means, there’s going to be more new, “Evil Dead”, films. I read somewhere that Sam plans on making a sequel to “Army Of Darkness” (Evil Dead 4), still where it leaves off from the last one. So hopefully, Bruce decides to return as Ash in the, “Army of Darkness” sequel, ’cause it would make a whole lot of sense.
Like I said, I definitely plan on seeing the new “Evil Dead” later this afternoon, and will review it when I get back. I’m probably gonna end up liking it a lot.
I love horror flicks. I love the Evil Dead trilogy and Bruce Campbell. I’ll let you know what I think of the new Evil Dead film. I haven’t seen a new film in a theater in a long while ’cause the movie theater closed down at the mall that’s near me, so I’m going to a different one today. I’ve been wanting to see the new “Evil Dead” film, ever since this project was first announced, and it can’t wait for the Blu Ray release.
As much as I hate Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, I think the sci-fi/action movie, “Elysium”, looks surprisingly interesting. I remember seeing the movie, “District 9”, in theater when it first came out, and loving that film. Count me in for this one.
Well, it’s no surprise that the “Interstellar”, movie by Christopher Nolan is planning to have a female lead ’cause I already called on it. It is also no surprise that Nolan is going to start hiring cast members from his Batman trilogy. Anne Hathaway is nearing a deal to star alongside, Matthew McConaughey, for “Interstellar”, the space travel sci-fi movie. Spoiler alert: Matt and Anne are both lovers in the film, HA! Kidding, I don’t know about that honestly, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Anne is the love interest for Matt.
Who is next to get casted for this movie? Morgan Freeman? Michael Caine? Christian Bale? Aaron Eckhart?
Say what you want about Anne Hathaway, but I always loved her and admired her. I’ve been watching her films for a long while. Speaking of Anne Hathaway, I bought the film, “Les Miserables”, on Blu Ray last week. Haven’t watched it yet, but I will when I finish watching the “Game of Thrones – Season 2” DVD box set.
I still stand by it that “Les Miserables”, was the best movie of 2012. It really was a great film and that should have been the one to get the BEST PICTURE win. Anne Hathaway was obviously the best part of that movie, though. I’ll re-watch that movie on Blu Ray this weekend, probably.
I meant to post this a few days ago, but I actually loved the new “Carrie” trailer. The film looks surprisingly good and I’m gonna try to see it, hopefully. How faithful is the new film to the book, this time? I have no idea. I haven’t read the book in a long time, and I planning on re-reading it soon, so I can tell if it is or not. It does look a little different than the Depalma version for sure. To be honest, I never liked the Depalma version, it was way different than the book, although, I still like the Prom scene at the end. A lot of people are complaining that the film has been remade a couple of times. It’s like, so what, ya know? Maybe they felt like the older versions of “Carrie”, didn’t work. This would be considered the third “Carrie” remake ’cause the second time was in 2002 for a TV film. I think this one wants to stay faithful to the book, this time around.
I also wanted to respond to this misinformed comment posted in that youtube video by some idiot, “Don’t need to go to cinema now. Saw the whole film in the trailer.” I know that was a joke, but it was dumb. I’m sure there is way more to the film than that, ’cause I noticed that the trailer is loaded with secrecy. This film wants to get more in depth with the story. Keep in mind that the book doesn’t end with the prom scene, the story drags on after that. I do remember that the book has a controversial ending, and not sure if this movie will use that ending from the novel. Depalma’s version didn’t use the ending from the book, his ending of the film was different.
I’ll have to start re-reading the book again, maybe I will this weekend. Looking forward to seeing it. As you all know, I’m a huge fan of horror films. Love them.
As soon as Christopher Nolan announced a release date for his next sci-fi movie, “Interstellar”, his first interest to play the leading role was actor, Matthew McConaughey. Nolan wasted no time to get into negotiations with McConaughey, and it seems that the actor is definitely game to starring the leading ’cause he just confirmed it. McConaughey, is officially set for the lead.
Still no plot details and no information on what character, McConaughey, will be playing. Even though, that there is no plot or synopsis, you can get the hint with the title, “Interstellar”. What is “interstellar”? It’s a location of travelling among the stars, like the Milky Way for example. So, it’s definitely gonna be a space travel kind of movie!
I sure hope the story will be interesting, and I hope the plot will have nothing to do with evil aliens and other space monsters. We’ve had enough of those.
He maybe the world’s most hated movie critic. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny, that the man is a legend. Roger Ebert, the world’s most famous film critic, announced that his cancer has returned and he’s cutting down on film reviews for that reason. He’s not leaving completely however, he still has other projects going on.
He said he’s keeping his website up, under new ownership.
If Roger passes away, it’s going to be a sad loss in the movie industry. Love him or hate him, we’ve all looked after him in some way or another. There will be no other movie critic like him. No other movie critic will be able to top what he does. Roger is irreplaceable.
I may not agree with a lot of his movie reviews, and yes, he said a lot of things that pissed me off too. Even when he’s in bad health currently, he has said a lot of controversial things. With all that being said, I’ve always respected the man. He’s one of the most honest guys out there. Not afraid to tell things like it is, he’s kind of like me in a way. He maybe uncomfortable to look at now, but I miss the old Roger pictured above.
The movie industry will never be the same when he goes. Prayers go out to Roger.
The reason I haven’t reviewed any new movies out in theater in a long while is because the Wilton Mall in Saratoga Springs, a mall that is near me, has no movie theater anymore. The theater closed down. So I haven’t been seeing that many flicks in a long while. I am planning to see the new Evil Dead movie next weekend, though, for sure. Gonna go with other people at a different mall, I think.
Could the new “Evil Dead” movie be just as good as the originals or could it be better? I know everyone wants Bruce Campbell to be a part of this movie, but it makes kind of sense for him to move on. The man is aging, he isn’t getting any older, and he just wants to pass the torch to younger actors. Remember now, Bruce was pretty young when he did the originals. I believe Bruce was around 20 years of age when he filmed the first and second Evil Dead, flicks. Even though Bruce isn’t starring in the film, I’m sure we’ll get plenty of Ash references, though! We’ll still get the old school Evil Dead B-Movie style but with a current feeling of today’s technology. The film was made low budget, just like the earlier films.
Everyone mistakenly believes this new film is a re-boot/remake, but it isn’t. It’s a continuation. It’s actually a sequel of the first film, ’cause the new film takes place 30 years after the first one. Maybe the new film can work without Bruce Campbell. If you knew what happened at the end of the first Evil Dead movie, it wouldn’t make sense to bring Ash back. I don’t mind a new Evil Dead film without Ash, as long as the original team are still behind it: Sam, Rob, and Bruce. I’m sure the new film will be scary and gory as hell, but will this film top the original? I’ll have to see for myself first.
I am a huge fan of the original trilogy, though. Can’t wait to see the new film, though. I’m sure they will do it justice.
Christopher Nolan, seems to be already on the move to his next movie, “Interstellar”, a sci-fi film, and look like he wants Matthew McConaughey to play the leading role. No deal yet, Nolan just asked him. What is it with Nolan’s obsession with big name actors in his films? Still no plot details for “Interstellar”, yet, but you probably won’t be hearing of a plot synopsis for a while ’cause like always Nolan is also obsessed with secrecy. He likes to keep everything quiet until the actual movie comes out. Matthew is a talented actor, though, he’s one of the best in the industry. I like Matt’s southern accent. His speaking voice is cool.
After the re-boot of the “Tomb Raider” game franchise, it was only a matter of time, that MGM was going to confirm their re-boot of “Tomb Raider” films, sooner or later. Look like they’re finally going for it. This won’t be a third installment to the Angelina Jolie films. It will be a complete re-boot, and they are having plans in having a new actress play, Lara Croft.
It’s sounding like that they may make the new film adapted from the new game that was just released.
I’m almost finished with the new, “Tomb Raider”, game. As soon as I finish the game, I’ll give the game a full detailed review.
As for who I want to play the new Lara Croft for the new film, I think Jennifer Lawrence might be a good choice. Jennifer’s role in “The Hunger Games” movie, was kind of like Lara Croft. Jennifer looked great with a bow and arrow, and other survival equipment, she might be a good fit. I just hope they don’t go for somebody like Megan Fox or Zoe Saldana.
I thought the first Tomb Raider with Angelina was great, but the second one, “Cradle of Life” sucked. This film franchise deserves a re-boot with better films. Don’t hurt to give it another try.
In honor of Leonard Nimoy’ s 82nd birthday today, I thought I would do something special for him. Leonard is another Star Trek genius who I’ve always admired and respected. He is also multi-talented. He’s not just an actor, he is also a screenwriter, author, musician, singer, etc.
Star Trek IV: “The Voyage Home”, is probably the best Star Trek film of the original franchise. I love it so much. This film was written and directed by, Leonard himself. It tells the story where if left off from Star Trek III: “The Search For Spock”. The star fleet crew are branded as fugitives, ’cause they were being punished by using the USS Enterprise to rescue Spock from the third movie. They learn that Earth is being ravaged by a space probe demanding a response from a lifeform that no longer exists. So since the starfleet crew couldn’t use the USS Enterprise for their mission, they instead, use a Klingon warship that they stole. Spock discovers, that in order to save Earth in their time, they had to go back in time to the 20th Century (in our current time), to get sounds from two humpback whales who are the only Earth beings who can respond to the space probe.
Many Star Trek movies and TV shows were taken place in futuristic times, but Leonard wanted to take this movie in a different direction and make this movie take place in our time, which is cool, and different. Everything about this movie is so perfect. This is the best acting by the original cast too, they all did a great job. Leonard wanted this Star Trek movie to be more of a positive and family friendly movie, since the first three Star Trek movies were so dark and violent. This one is more of a comedy, honestly. There’s plenty of funny one liners, most notably, “Double dumbass on you”, and many others. Leonard wanted this movie to be more enjoyable for children, so that could explain why the humpback whales were a part of this movie. I think the most important part of this movie, is that I think Leonard’s goal with the film was to bring awareness of how humpback whales are extinct. He wanted to help bring that to people’s attention.
What made this movie work, is that each cast member of the original Star Trek crew got their major moment. They all had their own chance of getting screen time. Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Chekov, etc. This movie also showed a softer side of Captain Kirk. This is a very entertaining movie, all the way through. It’s one of those Trek films, I’ll never get tired of watching. It was such a beautiful film, and Leonard did a great job.
They don’t make Star Trek movies like this anymore. Happy Birthday, Leonard! I’m sure he’s having a good one with his family.
