Report: Documentary about Anthony Kiedis of the Chilli Peppers coming to HBO!!!

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers main frontman Anthony Kiedis is putting together a documentary TV series about his life for HBO. Kiedis has teamed up with Marc Abrams and Michael Benson of Catapult 360 to make an HBO TV series titled “Scar Tissue”, a title taken from the same song title named “Scar Tissue” a hit single from the album “Californication”.

The show is not really a documentary of the band the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the show will be strictly about the life of Anthony Kiedis. It will begin with his childhood to what he is now. Kiedis is in negotiations with HBO in hopes of possibly narriating the show himself and to do cameos as well. Kiedis is closely working on this project with his father to help bring back his childhood memories for the show.

Report: Springsteen to premiere new song “Working on a Dream” at the Superbowl halftime performance…

Springsteen and the E Street Band will debut the new song “Working On a Dream” at the Superbowl halftime performance on Nov. 16th this coming Sunday evening. The song has not been played anywhere and it has not even hit radio yet, the song will be unleashed exclusively at the Superbowl with the Cowboys vs. the Redskins.

Billboard reports:

Other songs I think Springsteen and the E Street band will play, I’ve made my predictions before but since they confirmed this song, I have a feeling Springsteen will play “Born in the USA”, “Thunder Road”, “Radio Nowhere” and maybe “Dancing In the Dark”. He’s obviously going to be playing his biggest hits so the audience can get wild during halftime.

Report: Smashing Pumpkins booed in their two day NYC show…

The Smashing Pumpkins played a  two night show in NYC at a club and a bit of controversy sparked while there. Billy Corgan and the band were booed by the fans. Not only that, a fan from the crowd got on stage, speaking through the mic, harrasing Billy Corgan about how much their show sucked because the band Smashing Pumpkins hardily ever played their biggest hits played on the radio. The Pumpkins mostly played their obscure material, in other words, songs that aren’t hits. That’s what the fans were upset at the band about.

Blabbermouth reports:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=108618

In defense for Billy and the band, the fans are just being whiny pussies. This is why the major label industry sucks. Most of the so called fans only want to hear the “hits” at concerts. They seem to get bored at any obscure song being played by a band, any band, not just the Pumpkins.

Understand the truth, music fans. Bands play what they fuckin’ want to play at their shows. It’s their show, their music. Don’t like it? Then why did you go? I personally love it when bands play obscure and not well known songs at their concerts. In fact, I would be bored to death if a band played nothing but hit songs you hear 20 times a day on the radio. It’s good to have a variety of setlists at your shows. Bands simply don’t want to be playing the same damn songs at every show and that’s where the Pumpkins come from.

I go to a band concert to hear music and enjoy myself. I don’t care what song a band or artist plays, I just want to hear them playing live. That’s the Pumpkins job. They are a live band. The Pumpkins didn’t do anything wrong here. Just fans whining. That’s all I’m seeing.

Billy said so himself, the 20 year Anniversary of the Smashing Pumpkins is a celebration of where the band is, not where they’ve been. Meaning that the tour is supposed to celebrate the music of the Pumpkins of the last 20 years, it is not about their mainstream success. Which means you won’t be hearing a lot of radio hits of the Pumpkins on this tour and Billy admits this will take a lot of heat from the fans by saying “Enjoy if you will, we realize it’s not for everybody”. Makes perfectly sense to me.

Those “fans” are not actual fans of the Smashing Pumpkins, they are probably radio fanboys that want to hear nothing but hit songs. A true Smashing Pumpkins fan would let the band play whatever they wanted. Fuck the hits. I want to hear the music, like a piece of art and experiencing the buzz of a live performance, that’s what it’s all about.

CD Review: Queen + Paul Rodgers “The Cosmos Rocks”

The legendary band Queen that included band members: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor is back with a brand new studio album with all new original material but this time they decided to go on with a new singer. That new singer is Paul Rodgers, an English rock singer famously known for fronting the bands Bad Company and Free. Queen made it huge in the 70’s with classics such as “We Are the Champions”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and plenty of more hits. Queen has been known to blend a mixture of genres of music from hard rock to classical. Brian May have become one of the most influential and legendary guitarists of all times. The band’s main frontman Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in November of 1991.

Brian May and Roger Taylor decided to reunite Queen with a new singer to put out a new album with new material. The band’s former bassist John Deacon did not participate in the Queen reunion because he retired from the music business in the late ’90’s. So May and Taylor decided to go on without him. May and Taylor recruited Paul Rodgers as the new frontman. They released a new studio album this year titled “The Cosmos Rocks” which was just released in September of this year. This is the band’s new material since their 1995 album “Made In Heaven”.

As for my thoughts on the new queen album “The Cosmos Rocks”, I was a little worried about it at first. I thought it was going to be boring to listen to and didn’t think it would be that great. To my surprise, I was blown away and floored by the disc. It is actually an incredible record. “The Cosmos Rocks” strictly stayed true to the classic Queen sound. Most of the album is upbeat hard rock electric guitar driven just like the good old days of Queen. Paul Rodgers is no Freddie Mercury although he tries to sing like him but not even close, the songs on the new record are great though. Brian May’s guitar playing just blew my mind.

While the music industry today keeps getting worse and worse, once in a while a really good album comes out and this is one of them. I was really impressed with “The Cosmos Rocks”, the songs are tight and energetic. Other than Metallica’s “Death Magnetic”, Oasis “Dig Out Your Soul”, and Ac/Dc’s “Black Ice” being the best albums of the year 2008, I would throw Queen’s new album to the list. Gusn N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” is coming out in a few weeks, could that album get added to the list of Best Albums of 2008 too? Who knows. For those who used to like Queen in the past with Freddie Mercurcy, the new album is defintiely reccomended. Pick it up next time you go CD shopping.

Score for Queen + Paul Rodgers “The Cosmos Rocks” = **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Report: It’s the Purple One’s turn to pay the price…

Prince, mostly known for threatening to sue his own fans for using either his music or even photos without his permission, has lost a lawsuit against a video editor for not returning video equipment that belonged to him.

Video editor Ian Lewis sued Prince last year for $1.2 million but the judge denied his claims ’cause he failed to prove that Prince never returned the items and failed to prove that Prince broke a computer by never showing the judge any receipts.

Prince is ordered to pay $57,600 for the items that he rented that he never paid although the other lawsuit was thrown out and dismissed. Prince himself was not in court in person but his attorneys were.

More on it here:

Prince now knows what it’s like being sued. Maybe this will teach this prick to not be sue happy to his own fans. How does it feel to get sued Prince? Don’t like it do ya? HAHAHA!!!!

Report: Brian May dissapointed that he was cut off for Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” collaboration for a song…

During the 14 years of the making of Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy”, former Queen guitarist Brian May was one of the special guest guitarists who collaborated with Axl Rose for one of the new songs on “Democracy”. Brian May played guitar on the Gn’R song “Catcher In the Rye” one of the new songs off the new album. Axl Rose edited Brian May’s guitar tracks out of the song so the song can have guitar tracks being played by the current band members of Gn’R.

Brian isn’t angry or upset at Axl for the snub but he is dissapointed and a little sad about it. Brian said he was proud of the work he put on Gn’r’s song “Catcher In the Rye”. Brian says he still has the demo of “Catcher In the Rye” with his guitar tracks on the song at home, but Brian will not release his version to the public out of respect for Axl and the band Guns N’ Roses.

See it here at Brian May’s official website:

http://www.brianmay.com/whatsnew.html

That sucks. I feel for Brian. Axl’s ego is still flying high. Shame on you Axl. Axl should release the Brian May version.

Report: Cream’s bassist Jack Bruce slamming Led Zeppelin…just for fun and laughs?

Jack Bruce former bassist of the 60’s psychedellic hard rock band Cream, defends his nasty comments bashing Led Zeppelin. Jack explains he just did it for fun and humor, says it wasn’t to be taken seriously that he was just messin’ with the media for his own entertainment. Later in the interview, he explains how much he actually loves Led Zeppelin.

Blabbermouth reports:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=108298

Bands bashing other bands for humor is a normal thing. It even happens with local music as well. When I see a local band at a bar, another musician from the audience will yell out, “YOU GUYS FUCKING SUCK”, then everyone will start laughing ’cause they know it’s a sarcastic joke. That’s where Jack Bruce is coming from.

Try to understand that. I understand the humor in this thing totally.

Report: Springsteen set to release new album in January…

Bruce Springsteen will release his new album sometime in January of 2009, just around the time when the newly elected president Barack Obama gets inaugurated into the White House. The new album will be a follow up to 2007’s “Magic”. The title for the new album hasn’t been revealed yet. I’ll imagine this new album will not have the E Street Band members, it will be another acoustic folk kind of record like “Devils & Dust” was.

Billboard reports:

I’ve always liked Springsteen’s acoustic work way more than his E Street Band stuff, I’ll be looking forward to hearing this.
