Report: Courtney Love on the VMA’s, “They’re not the VMA’s and they never will be again!”

Courtney Love wrote a nice blog slamming the MTV VMA’s from last night. And guess what, I actually agree with her!

Read her blog here:

I never watch MTV or the VMA’s. Those that still do….why? The VMA’s continue to get worse and worse every year. Those that still do are probably the people who only concentrate on mainstream popularity of music.

The only reason MTV gave Britney those awards was to make her feel better because she had a tough year.

MTV shouldn’t be supported. MTV is worse than myspace. Both should be off this planet and get boycotted.

Not a cool video: Noel Gallager attacked by fan V Festival gig in Toronto…

Noel Gallagher of Oasis was violently attacked by a fan at a concert at the V Festival in Toronto. An angry fan jumped on stage, ran toward Noel, and just pushed him. Noel landed on the stage floor pretty hard. Security was able to successfully drag the fan off the stage, as the fan was being dragged off the stage, you can see Liam (Noel’s brother), trying to kick the kid’s ass as he was being pulled away by security, but of course, security wouldn’t let Liam get near the kid. It took Noel a while to stand back up, when he finally did later in the video, the audience cheered for him, fans letting him know that it’s good that he’s alright.

Cool Video: Lars Ulrich thanks fans in youtube who cover Metallica songs on video…

Lars Ulrich put up his first personal video blog, to personally thank fans who put up youtube videos of fans covering Metallica songs on guitar and bass or whatever instrument they play. You’re a musician, you cover a Metallica song in a video and you don’t think Metallica themselves isn’t watching them? Well, you thought wrong. 🙂 The band watches all videos posted about Metallica in youtube as Lars explained here. Lars explains that the band is flattered and happy that musicians in youtube cover Metallica songs.

Enjoy.

The Listening Room: 6 Metallica songs from “Death Magnetic”…

Just like the old days of Metallica. Their songs start off with a few minutes of guitar music and then James vocals come in later in the song, good old Metallica.

Metallica uploaded a player on their website with 6 songs from “Death Magnetic” 3 we already heard and they uploaded 3 new tracks we’ve never heard.

The new album is sounding amazing so far. Album comes out next Friday September 12th, it will be only available to buy at Best Buy exclusively and of course I’m sure you can order from the band’s website.

Enjoy:

I don’t have a favorite track on the album so far, they’re all my favorite! The album will be amazing, can’t wait to get it!

Report: Duff McKagan doesn’t like being called a rock star…

Duff McKagan a former Gn’R man wrote a very good blog on how he doesn’t like being called a “rock star”. He explains how he doesn’t see himself being famous over music. He sees himself as a normal simple guy enjoying life, spending time with family and making music. He sees himself as a regular music lover like all of us.

Read Duff’s blog on it here (Duff himself is even replying to reader’s comments in his blog entries):

Great post Duff! I agree with you 100%, it’s good to see you don’t have an ego attitude like most so called “rock stars” have.

Report: Led Zeppelin back in the studio for 11th album?

Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham are currently in the studio writing new music for a possible new Led Zeppelin album. However, Robert Plant is not involved in the recording session since he is still busy touring with Allison Krauss. The news of Led Zeppelin possibly recording a new album have been revealed by Jason Bonham himself.

More on it here:

Hmmm, the Robert Plant and Allison Krauss tour is almost over, they got 9 shows left in their tour:

Could Robert Plant have new Led Zeppelin music in prepared when he comes back home from his tour with Allison? Could Led Zeppelin be writing the music for Robert? I certainly hope Robert would be up to singing with Led Zeppelin for a new record.

I just want Led Zeppelin to make one last album before the band goes out for good.

Report: Chris Cornell goes R&B for next solo album “Scream” produced by Timbaland…

The former Soundgarden/Audioslave leading frontman Chris Cornell is about to release his third solo disc titled “Scream” which is produced by R&B superstar Timbaland. Cornell announced he is taking a step away from his usual hard rock and metal to go for a different direction in his music…R&B. His third solo album “Scream” will hit record stores Oct. 14th of this year. Chris also sang on a few songs with Timbaland for the new album.

You can hear samples off the new album from Chris’s myspace page here:

http://www.myspace.com/chriscornell

“Scream” is the follow up of his last solo album released in 2007 “Carry On” which he covered a Michael Jackson song “Billie Jean” on it. Chris Cornell’s first solo disc is “Euphoria Morning” released in 1999.

Billboard reports:

Has Cornell gone insane? Did him covering Michael Jackson a bad influence in him? We just lost a rock n’ roll Chris Cornell and now we get a pop/R&B Cornell. BOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I heard the new songs of the new samples in his myspace, and they are crap. Sorry Chris, but I prefer your older stuff better. What the hell is the man thinking? Does he want to be a pop star now? Blech!!!!

Report: Aerosmith to hit the studio for new album at the end of this month and go on world tour in support of it!

Steven Tyler just announced that Aerosmith will head back into the studio for a new studio album. This album will be all new original material. It won’t be a blues cover album like “Honkin’ On Bobo” was, their last studio album released back in 2004.

The band had already booked a full world tour, said the tour will start either March or April after the new album is completed.

More on it here:

Rock n’ roll is making a comeback to the mainstream! Hopefully the new Aerosmith album will be a strictly rock record, I want to hear Joe Perry’s great guitar playing. Hopefully the new album will stay away from classical orchestration and keyboard synthesizers. I want to hear rock n’ roll! Not that mellow pop shit from Aerosmith.

Report: Jimmy Page defends Olympics performance with Leona Lewis…

Jimmy Page is dissapointed with the negative criticism he received from critics and music fans of his performance with Leona Lewis at the Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony. Jimmy Page defended it saying that it was an honour for him and Leona to be there performing together, and he says they did a good job performing the Led Zeppelin song “Whole Lotta Love”. Jimmy is proud of the performance and says people need to be less cynical.

More on it here:

http://www.pr-inside.com/page-defends-olympics-performance-r787804.htm

I’ll have to agree with Page on this one. I heard audio tracks of the performance in youtube and it wasn’t all that bad.

The only reason I can think of why people didn’t like that performance is because people didn’t like the idea of a pop mainstream star performing with a legendary rock god. Everyone was probably expecting Robert Plant to sing with Jimmy Page at the Olympics. While I’m sure the Beijing Olympics asked for a Plant & Page duo for return, I’m positive that Robert Plant himself turned it down. That is probably the reason Page got Leona Lewis instead.

Keep in mind that Jimmy Page collaborated with almost every famous musician you can think of from Puff Daddy to the Black Crowes.

I mean, christ, he’s fuckin’ Jimmy Page, he can perform with who ever he wants. He doesn’t care if he plays guitar for Michael Jackson or even Ricky Martin or Usher. This man will play guitar for anybody. He just wants to play guitar no matter who he is playing with. It’s not always going to be with Led Zeppelin or Robert Plant, get over it people.
