Pink Floyd to release new album this year? Yes, you heard that right!!!!

Pink Floyd is set to release a new album later this year. It’ll be their first new studio album since 94’s “The Division Bell”. This new album will have unreleased songs that were recorded during “The Division Bell” sessions. The new album news was first leaked by Gilmour’s wife who revealed the news on twitter. Turns out to be true.

Look like a new album to add to the list of albums I’m looking forward to in 2014 this year. Like most, I’m a Pink Floyd fan as well as “Dark Side of the Moon” and “The Wall” are two of my favorite albums. I love “The Division Bell” too even if it wasn’t everyone’s favorite album by them.

The other new albums I look forward to this year are new albums by “Weird Al”, The Foo Fighters, the new Slash album, the new album by Judas Priest, and the new album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

If Metallica ever gets their new album the green light this year, I’ll be looking forward to that as well. I have a feeling we’re not gonna see a new Metallica album this year, though, look like it’ll be for next year.

I feel bad for Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers… god bless them…

Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers are having a bad year. Gregg’s health keeps getting worse as he just postponed his entire solo career and he’s in the hospital. Gregg is in the middle of a lawsuit battle because of Sarah Jones’s tragic death. Some of the film crew like the director and producers of “Midnight Rider” film have been charged for Sarah’s death.

Maybe this is why Gregg Allman have decided to split the Allman Brothers? The Allman Brothers break-up haven’t been official yet but I have a feeling it maybe coming soon.

This isn’t a good time for the Brothers to be playing ’cause of all the stuff going on with the “Midnight Rider” film and Gregg’s health.

I give so much respect to Gregg though. He loves music and performing. He tries to perform live on stage whenever he can even when he’s sick but when his health gets worse, he’ll have no choice but to pull out of shows.

Anyway, I just bought another album from the Brothers from Itunes called, “Enlightened Rogues”. I’m trying to collect their entire discography the best I can.

I love the Allman Brothers. It’s a shame what they’re going through. The band have gone through a lot of ups and downs over the years but they’ve had a good 45 year run, though.

I would say that for these new songs that I’ve been writing for this internet album, the Allman Brothers were a huge inspiration for it.

I wish Gregg and the band, the best.

Garth Brooks says the wait is over but for what???

If you head on over to:

http://garthbrooks.com/

The country legend famous for songs like: “Rodeo”, “Friends In Low Places”, “Ain’t Going Down ‘Til The Sun Comes Up” and “The Thunder Rolls”, etc. is teasing a huge announcement on his website which he will reveal on 7/7 which is this coming Tuesday.

Yeah the wait is over but for what??? I can come up with a few guesses:

1. New album/tour – He hasn’t came out with a new album in a long time. Well, so much for his so-called retirement!

2. His library of music is going to Itunes – Garth have been avoiding Itunes for many years so maybe he finally had a change of heart with it?

Anyone of these could be a possibility or maybe both.

I was never into country that much but Garth was a freakin’ badass. I’ve always been a fan. If his music is going to Itunes, I’ll buy his albums. I used to have some of his albums a long time ago before the days of Itunes and digital music.

It wouldn’t surprise me that his music is still not going to Itunes so don’t get your hopes up on that yet.

Weird Al releases track listing for “Mandatory Fun”…

Weird Al released the track listing for “Mandatory Fun” and it turns out he is parodying songs by Iggy Azalea, Lorde, Pharrell Williams and others.

http://www.fuse.tv/2014/07/weird-al-mandatory-fun-tracklist-album?campaign=scl|fbk|fsc

I’m not a big fan of rap music too much but I actually like Iggy and Pharrell. I’m thinking about getting both of their albums. Probably will. I do like rap and pop music sometimes. Just not all of it. If that stuff catches my ear enough, I’ll get into it. Sometimes rap and pop music is great music to work out to. That’s why I need to listen to that stuff sometimes.

Looking forward to the new album! I’m sure we’ll hear the new parodies soon when Al Yankovic releases those 8 videos. I’m sure Al won’t disappoint.

“Weird Al” not releasing single for his new album, “Mandatory Fun” and more announcements…

Usually when ever Weird Al releases a new album, he usually releases a single for the album’s release but it appears that he’s not doing it that way for this one. For this album he’s doing things a little differently. He’s not releasing any singles for this new album. He wants us to hear all the songs on July 15th, the album’s release date and he’s letting us decide which songs are the hits.

Plus he has 8 music videos for the album that he plans on releasing starting on July 14th and will release a music video every day for 8 days straight.

“Mandatory Fun” sounds lie a concept album to me and Al might have a message to send out with this one. Is this album going to be about dictators? That’s what it’s looking like.

I’m sure this album will have a mix of parodies and original songs like he does for every album. I’m looking forward to hearing his new music. I’m sure his new album won’t disappoint. I enjoyed his previous album, “Alpocalypse”.

As you can see Al Yankovic is being secretive with the track listing for “Mandatory Fun”. He’s careful on not giving away too much this early. He’s probably got some big surprises up his sleeve. We can all guess what parodies he’s gonna do but we’re all probably gonna be wrong.

Metallica will pay tribute to late actor Eli Wallach tonight at Glastonbury…

Man, what class act these guys are! Metallica are about to hit the stage at Glastonbury tonight which I’m sure will be an amazing show like always and the boys are about to pay tribute to legendary hollywood actor Eli Wallach who starred in “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, “Magnificient Seven” and many other famous films.

Everybody knows that Metallica uses the theme song from “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” as their opening intro to all of their concerts. Probably because Lars Ulrich is a huge movie buff and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” is one of his favorite movies. He was the one who probably have chosen to use “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” theme song for their shows.

RIP to Eli Wallach, btw. “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” is one of my favorite films too.

Rest in Peace, Michael Jackson…

Michael Jackson may have been a strange man over the years yes but his musical talent can’t be denied. No matter what you think of him, the man was a musical genius. Even though he is gone, his music will always be around. I’m pretty sure you still hear his music everywhere you go: on the radio, in clubs/bars, cover bands, wedding receptions, etc.

MJ was a huge inspiration for me as a kid. “Thriller” is one of my favorite albums of all time and still love the record. When I was a kid, I would watch MTV and when a Michael Jackson video came on… I would sing along to his songs and try to learn his dance moves.

He still is an inspiration to me. He may have been a bit of a whack job but I never cared about his personal life… it was about the music for me.

Michael Jackson was real. He wasn’t manufactured by the major labels. He really did the work and got him this success himself. He knew what he was doing. If you want proof that he was the real deal, watch the film, “This Is It”.

His legacy will never be forgotten.

Congrats to Joe Satriani on 30 years in the music business!!!

Joe Satriani is one of my favorite guitarists. He is an inspiration and hero to me. He’s one of the reasons I play. He’s definitely high up in my top 10!!! Seriously, I love this guy’s music. He’s a genius. “Surfing With the Alien” is one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s one record I’ll never get tired of listening to. I like Joe’s other albums but nothing will top, “Surfing With The Alien” which is the most important album of his career. I have several of Joe’s albums in my collection and trying to collect his entire discography the best I can.

Sure, there are other instrumental shredders out there like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen (SP?), Eric Johnson, and others but I’m more of a Joe Satriani fan than all the others. I recently got into Al Di Meola, he counts as a virtuoso shredder!

I’ve even got the opportunity to see Joe Satch live on stage years ago when he opened for Deep Purple in Saratoga Springs. That’s a show I’ll never forget. Can’t remember what year that show was but it was a long time ago. Maybe sometime in early 2000. I would love to see Satch live again if he’ll ever play here again ’cause he doesn’t play the Capital District area hardly at all. Once in a blue moon, he’ll play a show here.

Someday, I’m gonna play guitar just as good as him. How come Satch isn’t the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet? He’s so worthy for sure!

I’m always reading Joe’s interviews through various guitar magazines and he always have interesting things to say. If you want proof of that read this interview here at Rollingstone.

About the Jimmy Page and Lori thing…

About the Jimmy Page and Lori thing, maybe it is true after all ’cause here is a video of Lori herself explaining the whole kidnapping thing but like I said before it wasn’t a bad kidnapping.  It seems that Lori was willing to get kidnapped. She was crazy in love with him and she was willing to do anything with him. From the way Lori explained sounds like they were just playing around and having fun with the kidnapping incident. Sounds like it was all in good fun. That’s all it was pretty much.

Like I repeatedly said before, this was a pretty common thing for rock stars back in those days. They were ALL sleeping with underage groupies. The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, etc. It may have been disgusting and creepy sure but that’s how it was back then. You guys know that, you’re just being delusional assholes like usual. All of your favorite rock bands and singers have slept with underage girls.

It’s very strange how 20 or 30 years later people learn about Jimmy and Lori dating, yet people have a different opinion on him and then they stop supporting him ’cause they accuse him of being a pedophile.

I find it wrong for you guys to compare the Jimmy Page and Bryan Singer incidents together ’cause they are both completely different. The Jimmy Page and Lori thing was willing, the Bryan Singer incident he was accused of drugging and raping a boy. Singer’s was more dangerous and creepy than Jimmy’s.

On top of that, back in the 70’s in rock n’ roll it was common for rock stars to sleep with underage women. The rock industry is no longer like that anymore. In Hollywood, the industry is full of pedophiles and predators. It always has been and still is a huge problem.

You guys know exactly what I’m talking about, you’re just trying to piss me off, that’s all you’re doing.

I don’t support pedophiles and loathe them yes but it doesn’t make me a hypocrite for being a fan of Jimmy Page. It was different in rock n’ roll. If you’re offended at Jimmy Page’s actions then you must be upset with all the other bands you love ’cause they all did the same thing.

Another thing, you guys seem to be complaining about my hate toward pedophiles and predators so it seems to me that you are the one who are actually defending them. That makes you the hypocrite. Not me.

This is my final words on the Jimmy Page and Lori thing ’cause I’m done debating this garbage. Next time I discuss Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Page and if you guys bring up the Lori thing again, I’ll just delete your comments. It amazes me that people don’t get over this when all of your favorite rock stars have done similar things to groupies. They’ve all done crazy things to groupies take a look at the band KISS, perfect example. Guns N’ Roses and Metallica are a few more.

I’m sure the groupie thing still goes on in rock & metal to this day but not as bad as it was in the old days.

It’s interesting how fake the music industry is today…. wow…

Earlier today, I was just watching an interesting news report on ABC 20/20 and they were going behind the scenes revealing all the nasty secrets of the current pop industry. The story was that there was this guy reporting this story on “auto-tune” and “lip-syncing”. The story was that anybody can have a horrible singing voice and when you use “auto-tune” your singing voice will turn out amazing later. During that segment, they showed exactly how they use “auto-tune” in the studio. Sing horribly through the mic and the producer will improve the vocal instantly with “auto-tune”, “compression” and all kinds of software. It showed how this reporter sang terribly in the beginning but later in the report his voice improved due to “auto-tuning”.

The story was explaining how most pop stars use auto-tune like Miley Cyrus, Kanye, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, etc. They also revealed secrets of lip-syncing when performing on the stage.

The only pop artist who refuses to use auto-tune or lip sync is obviously, Pink. Pink can really sing for real in the studio and live on the stage. Even when Pink is dancing on the stage and doing all of her usual acrobatic stage moves, she can still sing good.

A lot of people make a lot of claims that the reason performers lip sync on stage at a concert ’cause it’s difficult for them to sing and dance to. Honestly, I think that’s just a lousy excuse meaning that they suck and have no talent. If Pink can sing and dance with no problem, then everybody else could too.

I can’t believe how fake the music industry is today. It’s why I don’t buy too much new music anymore. When I buy new music, I pick my choices very wisely these days ’cause it’s hard finding good music.

Most of today’s pop stars are manufactured and created by the record labels. Why would the record labels create fake artists so all the kids can look after?

Well obviously, it’s a money making opportunity for them. Whatever makes them the money. That’s how the music industry is still thriving. If you wanna get rich and famous, all you have to do is get plastic surgery, wear a lot of make-up and goofy looking fashion and you’ll get a record deal. All you have to do is look good that will sell records and concert tickets.

Most pop songs these days weren’t written by the original artists. Most of their songs were written by the labels and the producers.

It’s really sad of how the industry is today and I don’t like it.

That’s why I continue to listen to older music mostly: The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, early Metallica, Rush, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Hendrix, Iron Maiden, etc. That’s where all the real talent is at.

I respect the hell out of Pink though ’cause she’s one of the very few pop stars out there who is very real!!! I’m planning to start getting her albums soon ’cause I like her stuff, always did. Just never got around to buying her albums.

Rock n’ roll and metal will never be a successful genre again. The music industry will always  shove pop and rap garbage in our faces. Don’t get me wrong, though, I actually like some pop and rap music but I hate most of it.

I’d post the video of that “20/20” report that I saw of this but can’t find the video anywhere. I’ll keep looking.
