Game Review: Heavy Rain ****SPOILERS****

So I finished the game, “Heavy Rain” already. Well, sort of. Why, “sort of”? Because there are multiple endings to the game, not just one. People accused this game of being an interactive movie, but after playing the game, it is more than just an interactive movie. You play through the 4 characters, Madison Paige, Ethan Mars, Norman Jayden and Scott Shelby. Like I said before, it’s almost like a role playing game where you have to make careful decisions on things.

In this game, you have to watch out what you say through the characters. You also have a choice if you want any of the characters to survive or die. If one of the main characters dies, the ending of the game will be different. When I played the game, I let Norman Jayden die by mistake, I killed him off in the junk yard scene by accident…because during the scene, all these control buttons appear on the screen, making you do stuff so he can survive. Well I hit the wrong buttons more than enough times which is why I made him die ’cause the buttons came on the screen so quick. I let Scott, Madison, and Ethan survive though. You can even have a choice if you want Shaun Mars (Ethan’s son) to live or to die in the game.

The two most important people you want to stay alive is Ethan and Shaun of course, the rest of the characters you can either let die if you want so it can be a happy ending with Ethan and Shaun. If you let Ethan and Shaun die in the game, it won’t be a very happy ending. So yeah, there’s more than one ending to the game.

I won’t explain the endings…but I will say who the Origami serial killer is below with a spoiler warning. It didn’t surprise me who the killer was, I knew who it was since the beggining of the game, it was easy to figure out who it was.

The Origami killer is………………………

**********************************************************SPOILER***************************************

Scott Shelby, the private eye detective.

*****************************END SPOILER****************************************************************************

I’ll play the game again down the road, for a different ending, but not right now. I think I want to move on to a different game. I think I’ll start playing “Bayonetta” next tomorrow. Even though “Heavy Rain” was a very short game, I’m sure there will be a sequel. “Heavy Rain” was a brilliant game. It’s definitely one of my favorite games in my collection.

Thought: “Heavy Rain” is the most impressive game I’ve ever played, it’s absolutely amazing!!!

So after finishing “Bioshock 2”, I finally decided to start the game “Heavy Rain” next. Which I already started a few days ago, I played a lot of this game before work today. The game “Heavy Rain” got a lot of negative critique, but in my opinion, I think this is one of the best games I’ve ever played on the PS3 so far. People accused this game of being a boring interactive movie. I would have to agree and disagree both on that. While it is an interactive movie, it’s actually a game too. It’s almost like a role playing game. You have to make careful decisions in this game or bad things will happen ahead if you make the wrong decision.

In this game you don’t just play one character. You play 4 different characters throughout the game. You play, Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, FBI agent Norman Jayden, and Det. Scott Shelby. I like all the characters but I think that Norman Jayden guy is a badass character, and I think he deserves his own game as a spinoff. The game tells the story of an architect, Ethan Mars, who has a family, he learns about the Origami serial killer. The Origami serial killer is actually a child killer and of course, the game’s mission is to hunt down the killer.

You can play the characters while the movie is still going which is cool. The game has quite a bit of nudity too. The best part is that you can actually play Madison Paige naked while she’s taking a shower. The game shows the privates and everything. After playing this game for a while, it got me thinking, “No wonder so many want David Fincher to direct this live action movie, the game is pretty close to the movie, “Se7en”.

So far, I’m impressed with the game. Probably the best game in my collection. It should be a live action movie. I think David Fincher is a perfect choice of a director if they can get him for it…but who would play the characters in the live action version?

The Ethan Mars role, I think David Duchovny might be perfect for that character. What about Norman Jayden? When I looked at Norman in the game, he looked almost exactly like Mark Wahlberg, so Marky Mark would be my pick. For Madison Paige, a young actress would be better for her, in the picture above is Madison, so who does she reminds you of? She looks a little more like Jennifer Connelly or Famke Janssen. As for Scott Shelby, Robert Deniro might be good for him. So there’s my casting pick for the live action version.

The live action version is in the works, they just haven’t confirmed a director yet, so hopefully it will be Fincher.

I just started the game, so I don’t know who the Origami killer is yet, but I do have a feeling it’s one of those main 4 characters though. I think the gameplay is very cool, unique and different. You can actually play in a movie, that’s what’s so cool about it. Games haven’t done that before. Most importantly I just love the story ’cause I love serial killer fiction.

Report: Gore Verbinski says “Bioshock” movie is still in the works!!!

So we haven’t heard much news of Gore Verbinski’s “Bioshock” project lately? Well we finally here something! Gore says, the planned “Bioshock” live action movie is still happening. Guess what folks? Gore vows to make this movie a “hard R” rating. He doesn’t want this movie to be Pg-13. He wants the film R rated so the film can be edgy just like the game. He also says, he will make the film stay true to the game for the die hard gamers that love to play it.

Read more on what Gore have to say here:
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17662/-bioshock-movie-still-in-the-works

That’s very cool, the film is going to be R rated. There’s no nudity in the game, but there’s plenty of violence and blood. Plus the enemies you have to kill which are called Splicers are disgusting looking that won’t be for kids.

I’m a HUUUUUuuuugeeee fan of the Bioshock franchise. I think it’s the best first person shooter game ever made.

Speaking of “Bioshock”, I’m still playing “Bioshock 2” currently. I love these games ’cause they’re very hard and pretty challenging to play. I wonder if Gore plans on making the live action movie in 3-D as well? The City of Rapture is taken place underwater like Gore said, so there’ll be plenty of green screen and CGi when they make the film. One thing I worry, I hope they don’t make the Splicers enemies CGI, they should be human actors wearing makeup. Hopefully the Big Daddies won’t be CGI either.

Game Review: Red Dead Redemption

So last week, I completed the game, “Red Dead Redemption”, a cowboy Western game, by the same makers of “Grand Theft Auto”, Rockstar. I must say it was a pretty good game. Not the best ever, but it was fun. What I liked most about the game was the plot. The storyline was cool.

Dissapointing things about the game are: The Gameplay and the length of the game. What I didn’t like about the gameplay? I thought the missions were a bit too easy. The only mission that was hard for me that was a bitch to get by was when you had to save your corn in the Silo from getting eaten by the crows at Abigail’s house, that was the only mission I kind of had trouble on, but the rest of the game was a piece of cake. Plus the game was too short and could have been longer. That’s why it was so quick for me to complete the game.

The game is set in 1911, tells the story of John Marston, a former outlaw who used to be in a gang that was led by a man named Dutch (one of the main villains of the game). John was taken away from his family. John has a wife named Abigail and a son named Jack. Now John is out to seek two men, Bill Williamson and Escuela, who John used to be friends with in the gang. John used to be a criminal, but now that he is married and have a son, he have turned to good. John is out for revenge at his former gang and wants to return to Abigail and Jack to live a normal life again.

I won’t spoil the rest of the game, but the game actually has a very sad ending to it. Most games don’t end in a sad way like this. Most action adventure games end with a happy ending, but this one ended with a sad ending. There is a bit of a twist and a shock to the ending of this game. And to give you a hint at what happens at the game, again, I won’t spoil it just a clue, it looks like we’re going to play Jack Marston in the sequel. Not John.

John Marston is one badass character though, probably one of the best game characters ever created.

Cool Video: IGN unveils “Dead Space 2” gameplay footage at E3 convention!

The IGN “E3” game convention is happening, and they’ve been revealing a lot of new upcoming games there. One that interested me, is “Dead Space 2”. The sequel to the 2008 sci fi/horror game about a man named Isaac Clarke stranded in a spaceship trying to survive from all these monsters. Gameplay footage finally hits the internets and the game looks pretty fucking sweet. I like a lot of video games out there, but nothing tops “Dead Space”. It’s one of my favorite games ever. The second one looks even better and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. It is definitely a must buy no matter what.

Enjoy.

Report: New Michael Jackson video game being released sometime before Christmas…

I think everybody knew that a video game like this was coming, too predictable. Ubisoft is developing a “Dance Karaoke” like video game where you get to play Michael Jackson as a character to dance along with some of his hits. You will get to learn a lot of his signature dance moves including the moonwalk, of course. The game will be available for the Nintendo Wii and Xbox-360 only.

This isn’t the first time Michael Jackson had a video game. The first one was “Moonwalker” made for the original Sega system way back in 1989.

TMZ reports:

Don’t worry PS3 gamers. I’m sure the PS3 system will come up with a different game for Michael Jackson. Maybe do a game based on Captain EO? Or maybe do a Resident Evil styled game based on the “Thriller” video? Who knows, anything is possible. I expect more Michael Jackson video games on the way for sure.

Game Review: God of War III

So today this afternoon, I finally finished “God of War III”. I played the game in Easy mode, and then Chaos mode, the difficult level. Yep, I finished the game in Chaos mode. It took me longer to beat ’cause the battles are longer and much more challenging. Overall, I find the game pretty impressive. Graphics are great, music is great, and the story is great, but what impressed me the most is the gameplay. The gameplay is pretty amazing and brutal. Lots of blood and gore, and nasty moves that might make your stomach upset.

There are a couple of dissapointments though. 1. The game is way too short, only 9 chapters. 2. The ending was dissapointing and could have been better. 3. This is the final and last God of War game ever.

Will there be a God of War IV game down the road? I think there will be.

I watched the behind the scenes featurettes in “God of War III” game and I didn’t know that Marvel’s, Stan Lee, helped them out with the game. He just pitched in ideas and gave them advice of what Stan Lee liked and didn’t like about the game. Also, celebrities, Rip Torn and Malcolm McDowell did voice overs for two different characters which is cool.

Everybody thinks Kratos is the hero of these games…but when you play God of War III, you would find out that Kratos was actually evil after all this time. It’s not really a spoiler ’cause there was already evidence of that from the first two games. God of War III was great and a blast to play. Chaos mode wasn’t exactly all that hard, you just got to have skill, patience, practice and intelligence to get good at it. You have to pay attention to what you’re doing.

Next game I plan on moving on to is “Red Dead Redemption”, the cowboy western game, I’ll start playing that game later on tonight. I was going to go on to “Bioshock 2” after this but other gamers have talked me into playing “Red Dead” next.

“Naughty Bear” the next controversial game?

There have been several controversial games over the years in the video gaming world. Games such as “Wolfenstein 3-D”, “Grand Theft Auto IV”, “Resident Evil 5”, “Heavy Rain” and next here comes a game called, “Naughty Bear”. “Naughty Bear” seems to be the next game creating controversy online. Why is it controversial? Because the game is set like a children’s nursery rhyme, like in a children’s book. Instead, there is a teddy bear as you see in the picture above which who you play in the game, is a psychotic killer bear.

The game tells a story about a brown bear which is nicknamed, Naughty Bear, who is bullied by other bears on an island. Naughty Bear wasn’t invited to a birthday party, ’cause other bears thought he was too naughty. So the Naughty Bear turns into a murdering psychopath by murdering other bears. Does this mean we get to play this bear and kill other bears in the game? Yes, that’s the point of it.

According to the Best Buy website the game comes out, June 15th, available for the Xbox360/PS3. In a couple of weeks. I’ll probably get it.

Top 5 Video Games that should be live action films…

In celebration of “Prince of Persia” coming out tomorrow, I thought I would name 5 video games that I think would make great live action movies.

  1. Final Fantasy – There has been a few animated “Final Fantasy” films for the big screen, but there is none yet being live action. I’m pretty sure there will be one someday.
  2. Grand Theft Auto (with Niko Bellic as it’s leading character) – They should do a Grand Theft Auto movie based on “Grand Theft Auto IV” story. As long as they don’t make it too “Fast and Furious” like, it would make an excellent action movie.
  3. Dead Space – The sci fi horror video game that tells a story of Isaac Clarke trapped in a space station with all kinds of monsters and aliens. This would be a great film and I’m sure they will turn this into a movie at some point.
  4. Assasin’s Creed – I remember youtube did a short live action movie based on the video game and it was a hit in youtube. I think it now deserve’s big screen treatment and I still have never played any of the Assasin’s Creed games yet.
  5. Metal Gear Solid – The story of Solid Snake needs to happen to the big screen. I thought “Metal Gear Sold 4 – Guns of the Patriots” was a mind blowing video game. Amazing story and amazing gameplay. Please make this into a movie soon.

Honorably mention – “Duke Nukem” – For years there have been rumours of a live action Duke Nukem movie coming out and it has always been rumoured that the Rock Dwayne Johnson was going to play the character but he denied it everytime. I think a “Duke Nukem” movie deserves to happen more than any other video game adapted film. A “Duke Nukem” action movie would be badass if made right.

I didn’t list “God Of War” ’cause Hollywood is already planning one and they are already planning a “Bioshock” movie as well.

Report: Expect plenty more 3D videogames on the way…

Ubisoft video game company predicts that the future of video games will hit hard with 3D video games within two years. While 3D had hit movies with theaters really hard, it hasn’t yet came to the video gaming world. It will soon. The “Avatar” video game was in 3D, but didn’t sell very well. The video game industry will probably re-release old titles to 3D and upcoming new games in 3D as well. This will happen to all video game consoles: X-box 360, Ps3, and possibly the Nintendo Wii. I’ve been wondering if 3D videogames will come ’cause it will be cool to sit there playing videogames with 3D glasses on. Can’t wait for this to start happening!
