Netflix Pick (DVD): “My Week With Marilyn”…

So I finally watched, “My Week With Marilyn”, starring Michelle Williams. Got it in the mail through Netflix yesterday and watched it last night. It was actually a pretty good movie, I liked it, but my only problem was the casting of Michelle Williams as Marilyn. Michelle is a good actress, don’t get me wrong, but she’s not for Marilyn. Michelle did a great job on her speaking voice, it was dead on, but it was the looks that didn’t fit. Michelle looked nothing like Marilyn at all. Above is Michelle, below is the real Marilyn.

Other than that, it was a pretty good movie overall. Good plot, good acting with the other cast. It was well filmed and well directed.

It tells the real life story of Colin Clark’s really brief affair with Marilyn around the time, “The Prince and the Showgirl” (which was originally called, “The Sleeping Prince” but the title was changed later), was being filmed.

I’ve been watching a lot of Marilyn movies and haven’t seen “Prince and the Showgirl” yet. I have it listed in my DVD Que in Netflix, so I should get it soon. “My Week with Marilyn” was worth watching once, so I wouldn’t watch it again. I won’t bother buying my own copy. I just wish Marilyn was better casted, didn’t agree with Michelle playing her, so I’m glad they didn’t give her the Oscar.

I have a feeling there will be many more Marilyn Monroe movies coming out in theaters in the future, played by different actresses, but that’s Hollywood. I wish they would stop doing that, because there is only one Marilyn. I love Marilyn Monroe, can’t stop watching her movies. I need to read more about her life and career too, so maybe I’ll get some biography books about her soon.

Netflix Pick (DVD): Blue Valentine

So I just finished watching, “Blue Valentine”, the romantic drama that stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. I’m not into romantic movies that much, but this one is worth checking out. It’s a pretty powerful and moving drama. It’s also a very realistic love story. It’s about a troubled couple on their way to a divorce. The couple spends some time alone in a hotel room to spend some romantic times together, but like always, they can’t stop fighting. During those scenes, the movie would show flashbacks on how they first fell in love for the first time. Ryan Gosling’s character, Dean, has a temper tantrum. Michelle William’s character, Cindy, was pretty good, but I was more impressed with Ryan’s acting. I believe Ryan Gosling was robbed of “Best Actor” from last year’s Oscars ’cause he was really brilliant in this role.

Be warned though, the fights between Michelle and Ryan in this movie can be pretty harsh. Lots of screaming and swearing. Of course, there are some enjoyable and lovable scenes to keep the audience watching. This is a movie that can relate to all couples out there.

I’ve never been married myself but would like to someday, though, when the right woman comes around. For some reason, I learned a lot about marriage & divorce just by watching this movie. This movie wasn’t meant to be for your entertainment at all. The film wants you to learn things. Teach what marriage is like. Watching a movie like this is making me a little scared of getting married someday in the future ’cause you never know how long it will last.

Maybe someday a wife & kids will happen for the Brock, I’m just in no rush for it now. It’ll happen when it wants to happen. Waiting for the right time. I’m just happy playing my guitar and making music. I’ll get a girlfriend one of these days, I just need to find the right one. Find the right match and looking for true love.

This was a very good flick. I don’t think I’ll watch this over & over, so I won’t bother buying it.

Cool Video: “Blue Valentine” trailer hits the web…

I am not into romance type of drama’s that much, but this new film, “Blue Valentine” looks like a very good one. I think the trailer is pretty impressive. It stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Since it got an NC-17 rating, it probably won’t be playing everywhere, maybe in selective theaters. I will wait for this movie to come out on DVD. Looks like a great film. Does Michelle strip it all off throughout most of the movie?

Sounds like this movie has more to the story than just a couple falling in love. This film has my interest!

First look at Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe…

That is Marilyn Monroe, oooops, I mean, Michelle Williams (the former girlfriend of Heath Ledger). She will star in the upcoming Marilyn Monroe biopic titled, “My Week With Marilyn”.

See the full article, here.

Wow. Who ever did the make-up, hair styling and costume design, did an amazing job. I smell Oscar worthy for this film?

I’ve always been a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe. So I’ll be interested in seeing this myself!

BREAKING NEWS: Matilda Rose wins Heath Ledger’s estate…

Heath Ledger’s daughter, Matilda Rose, has been awarded to inherit the late actor’s estate. Heath originally wrote a will to give everything to his parents and his sisters but everyone in Heath’s family gave it all to Matilda Rose instead. There was no legal challenge by Michelle Williams although some has speculated the will was written to her.

The executor of the estate would not reveal how much the estate is really worth although a newspaper estimated it is worth about $16.3 million.

Matilda will be hella rich when when she gets older.

Do you think that little girl deserves this or do you think people are spoiling her too much?

IMO, Heath’s family should have stuck to his wishes that was written on the will.

Sure that little girl’s father is gone, I don’t think Heath would want her growing up with all kinds of people sending her checks, when I assure you that Heath would want her growing up making her own money doing “work” in the real world for her to live a normal life.

Yep, I think they are spoiling her.

Report: Depp, Farrell, Law donate “Dr. Parnassus” paychecks to Matilda…

Everybody thinks “The Dark Knight” is Heath Ledger’s final film, but it’s not true. If everyone gets their facts straight, Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” is Heath’s last and final film ever. This was the film Heath Ledger was still filming before he died. Heath Ledger originally was supposed to play the leading role throughout the entire film but due to his death, three big name actors took over Heath’s spot leaving the real Heath a cameo in the film.

Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law who starred in the film agreed to give their paychecks they got from making the film to Matilda, the daughter of Heath and Michelle Williams.

Those three guys did a great thing. They got plenty of money, they don’t really need it. Matilda deserved it.

Kudos.

Report: Heath Ledger’s ex-girlfriend, Michelle Williams shows up at Cannes…

A smiling and upbeat Michelle Williams shows up on the last minute at Cannes to the premiere of her film “Wendy and Lucy”. In the film she plays the leading role of Wendy. Michelle Williams is the ex-girlfriend of the late Heath Ledger who they have a daughter together named Matilda. Michelle Williams has been out of the spotlight and stayed low for a while since Heath Ledger’s death, this is her first public appearance since Heath’s funeral. The people at Cannes were stunned and amazed when she showed up wearing the white dress and looking gorgeous as ever.

She’ll probably be at the “The Dark Knight” premiere too. “The Dark Knight” premiere this summer will be a night for Heath Ledger for sure. I’m sure plenty of Heath’s celebrity friends and family members will attend “The Dark Knight” premiere.
