Report: “Bourne 4” greenlighted!!!

Universal Studios has greenlighted to make a fourth Jason Bourne movie. The three Jason Bourne movies so far are “The Bourne Identity”, “The Bourne Supremacy”, and “The Bourne Ultimatum”. George Nolfi will write the script for the 4th Bourne film.

While the first three Jason Bourne flicks were adapted by the novels written by Robert Ludlum, the fourth one will not be adapted from one of his books, instead the 4th Bourne will be an original story. Director Paul Greengrass will helm the fourth film as he directed the last two (Greengrass didn’t direct “Bourne Identity”), and of course, Matt Damon will reprise his role as Jason Bourne.

Cool. Glad the fourth one will be an original story, not adapted by the book. The story will be more unpredictable that way.

One thing though, while I do hope the next Bourne movie will be action packed all the way through just like “The Bourne Ultimatum” was, I hope the action scenes in the 4th one will be more creative and original. I would like to see more than the typical car chases and the running after the badguys on foot.

Matt Damon sure is on his way in becoming the next generation action hero. He’s no Sly/Arnold but Damon is quickly on his way up there.

Report: Richard Donner says “The Goonies” sequel is dead too, not just Lethal Weapon 5…

So Richard Donner shot down the “Lethal Weapon 5” rumours, he also shot down the reuniting of the original Goonies cast for “The Goonies” sequel. Donner and the original cast were game for the sequel in the past, Steven Spielberg was also game for it, Donner said they had a lot of young writers submit work but said none of their scripts called for another sequel. Meaning it’s a polite way of saying that a “Goonies” sequel would suck. Another reason that the sequel to the “Goonies” will definitely never happen is because the cast members are moving on to better careers.

For example, Josh Brolin went on into becoming a huge movie star, starring in films such as “No Country For Old Men” and the new upcoming flick “W.”. Jeff Cohen who played Chunk, is now an entertainment lawyer for Cohen & Gardener. Corey Feldman just released “The Lost Boys II’ sequel direct to DVD and is currently working with Corey Haim for the “Two Coreys” TV show. Sean Astin just completed the Lord of the Rings trilogy a while back and seems like he hasn’t done anything since. I’m not sure what the rest of the cast is up to though.

Donner has plans in adapting “The Goonies” to an on stage musical.

I used to want a “Goonies” sequel but I’m actually glad it isn’t happening. It don’t need one. The original “Goonies” film is great the way it is.

Report: Brian Henson to helm “Happytime Murders”, an adult oriented puppeteer film…

Brian Henson who is the son of the late and great famous puppeteer, Jim Henson, will helm a new puppeteer film titled “The Happytime Murders”. Jim Henson is a legendary puppeteer responsible for bringing us the Muppets, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, etc. Jim Henson was also the director of great films such as “The Dark Crystal” and “Labrynth”.

Brian Henson is a puppeteer and film maker just like his father. After Jim Henson passed away, Brian continued to make more Muppet films in his father’s honor to keep his legacy alive with new Muppet films such as “The Muppet Christmas Carol” and “The Muppet Treasure Island”.

The Jim Henson Co. greenlighted to make “Happytime Murders” with Brian directing the pic. The film is supposed to be dark and comedic but it is a film intended for adults, so expact a hard “R” rating. The plot idea for the “Happytime Murders” will be about a world of humans and puppets exist in the real world, the puppets are viewed as second class citizens. A group of puppets has been casted to make an 80’s children’s TV show called “The Happytime Gang”, each cast members gets murdered one by one while making the TV show. A drunken LAPD private eye investigates the murdered puppets.

This will be the first puppet film with a dark tone since 1982’s “The Dark Crystal” which as you saw in my top 50 films list is one of my favorite films of all times, I have the DVD to “The Dark Crystal” in my collection.

Sounds great!

This film will indeed create a lot of controversy in the news. I can see children’s parents trying to boycott this film ’cause they think this will give Jim Henson a bad name with puppets getting murdered.

With the way Hollywood running these days, I wish the Henson Co. good luck on releasing this film. Just ask Warner Bros. for the “Watchmen”, they know what it’s like.

Report: “Inglorious Bastards” begins filming!!!

Quentin Tarantino has finally begun work on “Inglorious Bastards” in Germany, just starting off with principal photography.

The cast so far:

Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Bruhl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sanke Mohring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet and Cloris Leachman.

Look like Brad Pitt and Mike Myers will be the two big leading stars of the film. Tarantino tried to ask Leonardo Dicaprio for the film, but look like Leo turned the film down. This also pretty much confirms Sylvester Stallone will not be in the film as well. Oh well. Maybe Stallone and Tarantino will get the opportunity to work together in the future.

Report: China planning to make Disney’s “Mulan” a live action movie…

The China FIlm Group is partnering with Xinhua Media Entertainment to adapt Disney’s animated film “Mulan” into a live action movie. The companies have already found a director to make “Mulan” a live action film but they will announce who the director will be at AFM.

The animated version of “Mulan” were meant for children and people of all ages, the film makers plan to make a live action more adult oriented. Look like it maybe filmed in China, but the live action “Mulan” could possibly get a world wide release.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

Interesting.

I have seen the Disney version of “Mulan” before and it’s actually very good.

I like some Disney animated movies, not a lot but I do like a few.

Like “Snow White”, “Pinocchio”, “Cinderella”, “Bambi”, etc. I mostly like the older Disney animated flicks, the newer ones I don’t really care for.

Confirmed: “Twilight” to run 2 hours long!!!!

MTV News confirmed that the vampire flick “Twilight” will run a complete 2 hours long.

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/10/13/twilight-run-time-is-announced-as-fans-get-ready-to-get-bitten/

The question you have to ask is this…will I get a little embarrased in a movie theater of screaming teenage girls?

My answer: No, not at all.

I’ve seen movies in theater packed with teenage girls before, with movies such as Disney’s “Enchanted” and the Chronicles of Narnia “Prince Caspian” are good examples.

I don’t give a shit what kind of audience a film is aimed directly at. I’ll go see a film if it interests me and I go see any film I want to. No matter what genre it is.

There are plenty of people out there my age or older reading Harry Potter books and seeing the Harry Potter movies, Stephenie Meyer is pretty much the same thing. Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling books are for all ages. Enjoy what you want and who cares what other people think if others think you’re weird for enjoying this stuff. I don’t like Harry Potter, and I find that Stephenie Meyer is a MUCH better writer than J.K. Rowling is.

BREAKING NEWS: Ridley Scott finally returning to sci-fi in “Forever War”!!!!

It’s been a long time since film maker Ridley Scott made a new science fiction flick hasn’t it? Ridley Scott who brought us “Blade Runner” and the first “Alien” is making a return to sci-fi in a film titled “The Forever War”. Ridley has been planning to make “The Forever War” 25 years ago but never got around to it, but now he finally has the opportunity.

“The Forever War” will be adapted from the novel by Joe Haldeman, the story is about a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space, only to return home to a planet he doesn’t recognize 20 years later.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117993856.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Ridley Scott has always been known to be switching from different genres in film from sci fi, fantasy, drama, thriller, etc.

“The Forever War” sounds great. Lets just hope Ridley don’t overdo the CGI effects in the film since it’s sci fi.
