Cool Photo: First look at Russell Crowe as Jor-El on the set of “Man of Steel”…

We now know what Henry Cavill looks like as Superman in costume. Well, here’s your first look at Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman’s Krypton father, on the set of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. Pretty cool. I like it. Definitely different than the Marlon Brando version.

Lets hope we see a pic of Michael Shannon as General Zod soon. That’s what I’m most looking forward to see.

Look like Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” is going to open with the John Williams theme after all?

Check it out, and tell me what you see…

the Man of Steel, IMDB lists John Williams as Original Score, but they still list Tyler Bates in the music department. This doesn’t mean it’s confirmed ’cause IMDB is not a reliable site.

I’ll believe it when I hear a confirmation from Zack Snyder, Warner Bros. or Christopher Nolan. I’m sure Zack is going to get asked about the Superman theme when he starts doing interviews again. We’ll wait and see.

Report: Sean Penn and Clive Owen were originally considered for Jor-El for “Man of Steel”…

Before Russell Crowe was hired to play Jor-El, Supes father, for Zack Snyder’s, “Man of Steel”, film, Russell really wasn’t the original choice to play the character. The Hollywood Reporter, reveals that, Sean Penn, and, Clive Owen, were originally considered, but they must of turned the role down.

Read more, here.

Interesting choices! I can see why Sean would turn it down because superhero movies probably was never his thing. I can definitely see Sean playing the part though. Clive Owen’s a good actor too.

I’m sure Russell will do a good job. I hope Warner Bros. will release a pic so they can show us all what Russell looks like as, Jor-El.

Report: Michael Shannon confirms he’s in the mo-cap suit, mo-cap is also General Zod in CGI…

Ever since the Behind the Scenes pics of Snyder’s “Man of Steel” began surfacing the web, there is this mysterious guy in a mo-cap costume. The internet has been debating on trying to figure out who or what that mo-cap thing is. Well, the mo-cap mystery has finally been solved.

The guy in the mo-cap on the left, is indeed Michael Shannon. He also confirms that General Zod will be a CGI character.

More on it, here.

I kinda had a feeling it was Michael Shannon to begin with. So is Zod going to be a giant this time around?

Thought: Should Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” ignore the John Williams theme song?

There’s a huge debate online through movie forums and blogs on whether or not Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film should keep the John Williams “Superman” theme for the opening title sequence, of the new film. Should they keep the theme song?

Of course, there are mixed reactions to this….

Some people do want the song because they feel it’s not a Superman movie without it.

Some people don’t want the song. Some fans say that Zack and Christopher Nolan should trash the theme song and go for something different since this is a reboot and has nothing to do with the early Superman films. Some claim it wouldn’t make sense if they still used the main theme.

So what are my thoughts to all of this? I agree that they need to KEEP the original theme. If they want to hire a different composer and change the song around with different styles and arrangements, I’m fine with that, but they shouldn’t ignore it completely. I mean, every Superman movie had a different composer but they still used the JW’s theme song, but each version had a different arrangement to it. If they use the original theme, I’m cool with that too.

I think the theme song is needed for so many reasons. 1) The theme song was made for Superman character himself, not for the actual movies 2) They need to get the audience pumped up and excited before the movie starts 3) They need to stay true with the Superman character.

The reason JW’s “Superman” theme is debatable on the internet now is because, Zack Snyder haven’t confirmed anyone for a composer for “Man of Steel”. Plus, Zack never said anything if he will use JW’s legendary score or not. I’m sure we’ll hear something soon. In Hollywood films, the film crew would mostly hire a music composer after the film is done ’cause they score the film in an orchestra setting while the movie is playing on screen. That’s how they do it.

Think about it, if they use a different theme song, people won’t get used to Superman anymore. It might turn the new fans off and it won’t be as successful in the box office. It won’t be as exciting and fun. I love the Superman theme. It certainly pumps me up and puts a smile on my face when I watch a Superman movie. That’s what the audience needs for this film.

If they used  a different composer for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” movie, I don’t care who the composer is. NOBODY, I mean, NOBODY, is ever going to top JW’s legendary score. In my opinion, I think Zack and Chris are going to use the song. I think Warner Bros. would want them to use it. I hope they use it.

Cool Photos: Christopher Meloni “Man of Steel” pics surfaces the web but not in character…

Here are two photos of Christopher Meloni from Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film. The first photo is Chris leaving the set of filming and the second photo is Chris enjoying a break at a public pool. Filming of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” is happening in Plano, Illinois.

Chris is playing a military general in “Man of Steel” so far, no pics of him in his military costume yet for the film. I’m sure they’ll start showing up at some point.

10 reasons why Zack Snyder is the right choice to direct “Man of Steel”…

Man, I am getting pretty tired of all the Zack Snyder bashing in other movie forums & blogs. I hope I’m not the only one who has a 100% faith in him and Christopher Nolan for the Superman reboot. I think Zack Snyder is the man for the job for a lot of reasons.

A lot of people don’t like Zack because they think he is a terrible director. Well I think he’s a fine director with a gift. I absolutely loved, “Watchmen”, “300”, and “Legends of the Guardians”. I still haven’t seen “Sucker Punch” yet, his latest released film but I plan to see it soon.

Here are ten reasons why I think he’s a perfect director for the Superman film and no one else could do it…

  1. Zack is a huge Superman fanatic like most of us – I can tell too. From all the behind the scenes pics I’ve been seeing of this movie, he definitely knows his shit and definitely knows what he’s doing.
  2. Zack stays pretty faithful to the comics – When he did “Watchmen” and “300”, they were very close to the graphic novels. I think he’ll stay true to the “Superman” franchise and so far, he’s doing just that.
  3. Zack’s films are action packed, which is what Superman needs – I bet Warner Bros. looked at “Watchmen ” and “300”, they thought to themselves, “This is what Superman needs”. Zack is a good action movie director. Superman needed to be a fun action movie
  4. Zack is good with visual and special effects – If you’ve seen “Watchmen” and “300”, he’s got a unique style when it comes with special effects. When he does his films, you know it’s his work immediately.
  5. “Watchmen” and “300” were both very successful films – Both of these films were pretty big, box office money makers. Warner Bros. are hoping that “Man of Steel” will be a hit too, and they needed a director who had experience with box office hits. Zack is the man for this.
  6. Zack is good with “slo-motion” effects – This is one reason why a lot of people hate Zack Snyder as a director, he does the “Slo-motion” technique way too much. Well? I believe that if his slo-mo technique grabbed people’s attention, he’s doing something right. There are so many other directors who do the slo-mo technique as well but nobody complains. Only when it comes to Snyder, he gets bashed for the slo-mo. The slo-mo technique is exactly what Superman needs. The slo-mo when Superman’s flying in the air would look great if done by Snyder.
  7. Zack is good at working with characters – All of his movies are very character driven. He doesn’t take random characters and just do whatever he wanted with him. He just had to follow them with a complex  storyline, like “Watchmen” for example. His characters in his films are pretty insightful and anybody can recognize them.
  8. Zack’s work can be different and original – He can do things differently that no one else could do. He’s doing exactly that with “Man of Steel”. Making changes with the characters and changing Superman’s costume. He’s doing a nice job staying away from the Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner style Superman.
  9. Zack is a fast worker – This is one of the reasons he was hired, because he gets things done quickly. As you can see, from all the Behind the Scenes pics posted on the web so far, you can see he’s working very fast. Working on one scene to the next. His work ethic must of impressed Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros., so they gave him the nod.
  10. Zack knows what the fans want – We all wanted a dark, edgy, action packed Superman movie. Look like we’re going to get exactly that.
So why complain about Snyder? I think he’s going to make an amazing Superman movie. I think we’ll finally get a good one. Don’t always think that Snyder is going to make a horrible Superman movie just because you thought “Sucker Punch” was bad.

Cool Photo: Oh wow! See Superman, Faora and a mysterious villain go face to face!!!

More behind the scenes pics of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” surfaces the web today. These are pretty controversial pics too.

See Superman, Faora, and a mysterious villain in a mo-cap costume standing next to Faora. Check them out, here.

As you can see in the AICN talkbacks, people are bashing the new Superman costume. Superman got rid of his red underwear and the yellow belt that he’s known to wear. I hope I’m not the only one that likes the idea because it doesn’t hurt to change Superman’s looks and image for once.

The same Superman look does get old after a while don’t you think? I warned ya before that Zack Snyder is making all kinds of changes with the Superman franchise. The reason for the new look that Zack wants to give this movie a current feel, so the film is looking like it’s taken place in our current time.

On top of that, there are plenty of Superman comic books where he didn’t have the red trunks. Seriously, look it up if you don’t believe me. The new comics decided to put blue jeans on him. So I can tell that DC is getting bored with the same look as well.

I love the Faora costume though who is played by Antje Traue, a German actress. There are similarities to Urtha.

As for the mysterious mo-cap costume, what is a mo-cap, some of you may ask? For those who don’t understand films that much. You wear mo-caps all over you as it picks up on a computer creating an animated character. A mo-cap suit may look silly on set but it is needed to create the character. Read more on motion capture, here.

Whatever the mo-cap character is, it’s definitely not General Zod. I’m hoping that character is Brainiac or Metallo. It could be either one of them.

Back to the Superman costume, I’m in favor of it. I’m willing to give it a try. That new look of Superman, gives him a new personality. It makes him look tougher and makes him more human looking. They wanted to give it a realistic feeling. Zack said many times he wanted this film to be realistic and different.

I’m loving what I’m seeing so far. Can’t wait to see what Michael Shannon is going to look like as Zod.

Look like they are all done casting. Look like they won’t use Lex Luthor or Jimmy Olsen at all. That’s okay though, I’m fine with that.

Thought: What I hope to see in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film…

Looking at that picture again, that’s an angry Superman who’s about ready to kick your ass. The photo says it all, folks. I think the next Superman movie will be an action packed movie and that’s what I’m hoping for.

Notice the S shield Symbol. It’s the classic logo from the 1930’s in the “Action Comics” years back? Noticing the new Superman suit is kind of old fashioned, I’m thinking the movie will be taken place in the 1930’s like the old comics.

I just hope Superman won’t show up until the very end of the film. We want Superman to show up right away in the film. In Richard Donner’s “Superman: The Movie” it took forever for Superman to finally show up toward the middle. I hope that won’t happen with this movie.

I’m sure Warner Bros. will release pics of Michael Shannon as General Zod soon, and that’s what I can’t wait to see! Hopefully Michael Shannon’s version of Zod will be different than Terence Stamp’s look.
