Cool Video: “Robocop” remake actually looks pretty awesome!!!

MGM released the first trailer for the “Robocop” remake and I’m actually kind of impressed with it! I was skeptical of the remake but now that I’ve seen the trailer, I guess I’ll have a positive opinion for it. Joel Kinnaman is the new Robocop. The film also stars Sam L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. I like the new Robocop armor as well.

While the remake does look like a good one, it still won’t top the original with Peter Weller. The original is an essential classic. The original is one of my favorite films of all time.

Star Trek – The Next Generation…

Last night, I just finished watching the last of “Star Trek – The Next Generation” on Netflix streaming. Yep, I watched all 7 seasons and every episode back to back on there. Started watching the show back in the Spring, I think and been watching it all summer. It’s a pretty long show. There’s about 26 episodes for each season. I had a blast re-watching them all. I still remember every episode too! Such a great show! While I do like every episode I’ve seen, my favorites are: “The Best of Both Worlds 1 &2” (which is considered a classic), “Skin of Evil”, “Datalore”, “I, Borg”, and “Genesis”.

After watching, “ST: TNG”, why did this series end so soon? Why was there 7 seasons and 4 films of the TNG series when they could have gone on a little longer? Well, there’s a few reasons for that. I would love the TNG cast to reunite for one last TNG movie but that’s probably not gonna happen ever. A couple of reasons are that most of the cast members of the TNG cast wanted to retire and move on for example Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner (who plays Data). Brent Spiner no longer wanted to play Data ’cause Brent is aging and Data was never meant to grow old & die. Patrick Stewart wanted to retire ’cause he has been working on TNG for pretty much most of his life. Plus, another reason there hasn’t been a 5th TNG movie ’cause the last couple of TNG movies: “Insurrection” and “Nemesis” got so much negative feedback and both of them flopped in the box office. It’s a shame there’ll never be another TNG movie but it’s understandable why.

TNG was a great series, though. I think I’ll move on to “Deep Space Nine” next on Netflix streaming. I never got to watch all of that show when it was on TV back in the day.

Recording music will be on hold for a little bit…

I won’t be able to use this Behringer pre-amp until I get the right cable for it, “the balance 1/4 to XLR male” which I just ordered and I should get that cable delivered here in a few days. I wished I learned about the cable before I ordered the pre-amp and that way I could have ordered both at the same time. I’m sure this pre-amp would work great, I just need the right cable for it. I’m dying to use this, though. This is probably exactly what I need to get a good sound in recording.

You don’t only have to use this pre-amp for home recording, you can use it for your live gigs too. I don’t think I’ll use it for live performances. I’ll just use it for home recording. I probably won’t be able to use this pre-amp until next week, need to get that cable. It’s interesting how pre-amps only accepts certain kind of hook-ups. I guess that’s the way they were built. They’re built in a special kind of way. Pre-amps are different than guitar amplifiers.

I just want a good sound with my music. Trying all I can. I hope I’ll be successful with this Behringer pre-amp.

Behringer preamp and M-Audio hookup…

Well, I went to Radioshack today and picked up a 1/4 to XLR female cable and male to male adapter for the Behringer preamp. I took the cable and adapter home… tried to hook those up to the preamp and M-Audio interface…. hearing all kinds of buzzing and noises. I assumed the preamp didn’t accept that kind of hookup. I posted the photo of the preamp I got in facebook and then a musician writes a comment telling me that I needed a “balance 1/4 to xlr male” cable in order for it to work. Yep, this Behringer preamp didn’t accept that kind of hookup that I gave it. So I’m gonna need the “balance 1/4 to xlr male” cable. If I get that cable then it will work for sure.

Like I said before, I don’t know much about all of this technology stuff with home recording and I’m learning. I guess there is a difference between “balance” and “unbalance”.

That’s okay, though. I feel that I didn’t waste any money on the xlr to female and male to male adapter, I’ll still keep those ’cause they might be useful for other things.

I’m still gonna get the “balance 1/4 to xlr male” that’s gonna work on the preamp. The thing is, a preamp accepts certain kinds of hookups. You can’t hook them up with random stuff.

Like I said, I don’t know much about technology and it’s interesting stuff to learn.

Deal with it people… the Obama administration doesn’t care what we want… it’s all about them…

Well, I guess we can all come to an agreement that the United States should not attack Syria. Even all the liberals agree with it too! If you read the title of this topic carefully, the United States government DOES NOT listen to the American people. They don’t care about us. They never had especially Barack Obama. Obama hasn’t been giving us what we want since the beginning of his presidency. No matter if the American people begs him to do stuff, he’ll just ignore us like we are nothing. Do you think Obama is gonna back off on Syria even if we want him too? No. There are other things that he totally ignored us on. He was trying to give us strict gun control which he failed miserably at. I don’t think he’ll ever help legalize gay marriage even though Prop 8/DOMA are done. I don’t think Obama will ever give us answers on Benghazi. Obama never improved the economy even though he kept promising and I don’t see any improvements. He promised to bring soldiers home from Afghanistan and war is still going on there. He’s going to keep using drones to kill people overseas even if we want him to stop. He’s going to keep aiding terrorists and he’s going to keep doing gun running operations. He’s going to keep spying on people. He’s going to continue to destroy the United States of America and that’s all the man wants to do. Barack doesn’t even care for his fellow liberals. He’s even controlling them and they don’t even realize he is screwing with them too even though a lot of them look at him like a hero.

Why do people want the Obama Administration to stay out of Syria? Simply put, we’re all scared. We don’t need to go to war over something that has nothing to do with us. We’re scared of more US troops getting killed. We’re scared of Syria retaliating against us and we could have another attack much like 9/11/01 but much worse. You don’t think we’re gonna get another 9/11 or worse? Syria is watching us and getting prepared. Even Russia wants us to not get involved in Syria.

All this proves is that President Obama is a violent, hateful and dangerous man. This isn’t about stopping the gas attacks in Syria or saving the people over there, this is all about power and greed with President Obama. It also shows that he definitely has something to do with Benghazi and Benghazi was brought up a few times during the Syria debates in Congress.

I really hope Congress votes Nay on attacking Syria. We don’t need to attack Syria. Plus, we don’t need to kill innocent civilians, women, and children in that country either. Even if Congress votes Nay on it, I can see President Obama going ahead with the attack on Syria anyway. Wouldn’t fucking surprise me. If Congress does vote Yea on it, then that just shows that the people in Congress can be a bunch of evil fucking scum bags too. Quite frankly, I hate ’em all. The whole government is messed up and broken. James Madison and Thomas Jefferson are probably rolling in their graves.

We really need to get rid of our president. If this isn’t enough for you to hate him then I don’t know what to say. He’s not innocent in everything. Anybody who defends him on everything is a traitor to America and your voting privileges should be taken away.

The Behringer preamp just got dropped off!!! WOOT!!!

1001274_10151656271613131_1045273787_n

Look like the Behringer preamp did come today after all and here is the proof! All I need left is the correct cable so I can connect this baby to the M-Audio Interface (which you can see in the background) and then I’m good to go. Pretty psyched to have phantom power finally. I’ll be able to use the Shure SM86 mic.

I’m hoping I’ll be happy with this and hope this is worth the purchase. I probably will be happy with it.

I’m off to Radioshack now to see if they have that cable that I need, the 1/4 to XLR.

Kev

EDIT TO ADD: Btw, once again thanks to Mike for the suggestion of getting the preamp.

Should you feel bad if you are disliked by other musicians? I’d say no…

I know I can be a pretty dislikable guy in the world of local musicians. Some musicians like me and some don’t. Either way, I don’t give a shit. So, you’re a musician wanting to play your music either in a band or solo acoustic but all of a sudden, you start seeing other fellow musicians talking all kinds of trash about you online. You ask yourself… “Why am I being hated on, all of a sudden?”. It’s not you. It’s them. It isn’t because you’re a bad person. It isn’t because your music is crap. Over the last several years or more of experiencing this myself, I have come to a conclusion on why this is. Musicians could be hating on you for a couple of these good reasons:

  • They know that you are more talented – They know that you play better and make better music — they will never admit that you are good and it’s killing them.
  • They know that you are too good of a person – Another reason why I can think of why musicians attack you is that you are probably too nice of a person. They just want to act like tough guys and try to make you feel bad. They’re like bullies in high school.
  • They know that you are more honest – Musicians know that it’s okay to be yourself and they know it’s okay to speak your mind. The second you say something wrong, you’re the enemy of a lot of people you don’t know. You have to be on everyone’s side all of the time if you want to be respected. If you don’t side with them on something, that makes you the badguy.  They hate honest people. They’re jealous of that too.
  • They might be jealous of your accomplishments in music – enough said?

You get the idea, I think. I think it’s a pretty healthy thing to be disliked by a lot of musicians. It’s letting you know that you are well-known and getting somewhere. Haters make you popular, ha!

Not all musicians will hate you, though — you’ll have some who will be willing to support you every step of the way. I have some musicians who have supported me throughout the years no matter the negativity/controversy that happened and I’m actually honored and grateful for that. I like musicians who will stay loyal and supportive. If you show me support, I will show you loyal support in return. It’s just as simple as that.

About hooking up the Behringer preamp into the M-Audio interface…

After doing a little googling, I just found out that you are able to hook up the preamp into the M-Audio interface. What I would need is a Female XLR to Male XLR microphone cable to hook them both together and it would definitely be able to work. Today, I’m planning to go to radioshack to find a short XLR female/male cable — I would think it would cost around $10 or so.

I’m hoping to get that preamp dropped off today. If not, then definitely tomorrow! I’m excited for this thing.

More about the Behringer mic preamp…

I was looking at photos of the back of the Behringer mic preamp that I ordered today figuring out how I’m going to hook that up to the M-Audio Fast Track interface when I get the preamp here. I’m sure there is a way to hook them both up together… I’m sure I’m gonna need some kind of special connector that I would need to get from Radioshack which shouldn’t cost much. I’ll have to find out what kind of connector I’m gonna need. I just found out that the M-Audio Fast Track is a preamp but that one doesn’t have phantom power. I needed one that has phantom power but you can hook two preamps together, I believe. I’ll have to figure everything out when I get it. I wished I learned about the preamp thing a long time ago.

Yeah, I’ll admit it… I don’t know much about gear and home recording equipment, lol. I am learning as you can see. I’m just trying to find ways to get a perfectly clean studio sound at home ’cause I refuse to spend so much by the hour at some shitty local studio. I believe I’m getting closer to my goal.

The reason I want a perfectly clean sound of these new songs is ’cause I’m hoping for an internet exclusive album release. My first album will be an internet only album. I want you to be able to enjoy these songs on your Ipods or whatever MP3 players you have. I’ll design a cover for it and everything. The album cover will probably be nothing special. It’ll be just a photo of me on it… probably holding my guitar.

Really can’t wait to get the preamp! Psyched! I might get it tomorrow or Friday. American Musical Supply is fast with order deliveries. I know ’cause I ordered from them many times before. That’s the company where I got my two guitars and amplifier from.

Behringer Microphone Preamp ordered!!!

As recommended by a reader, I took his advice by getting the affordable Behringer Microphone Preamp that costs about $69.99. I just ordered this baby today, and I should be getting this either this weekend or early next week. AMS orders are usually quick. The Behringer preamp has phantom power and when I get this, I’ll be able to use the Shure SM86 mic. This Behringer Preamp has been getting great reviews too so it looks like it would be pretty good! I think I’ll definitely be able to play perfectly clean without any background hiss or humming sounds with this thing so I can’t wait to get it and try this out!

I just finished completing a song in Cakewalk Music Creator today both vocals and the guitar. When I get that preamp… I’ll re-record the song over again with that so it can sound a lot better. Can’t wait to get that preamp and to that reader who gave me that suggestion, thanks. I hope this piece of gear is what I’m looking for and hope it’ll work successfully — I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!

I really want to be recording songs again ’cause I got tons of ideas in my head and I really want perfectly clean studio sound with them. I might even get this tomorrow.

I’m beginning to see that maybe people really do see something special with my music after all. In facebook, I keep talking about how I’m writing songs again, and people has been giving the posts thumbs up and telling me they’re looking forward to them. It’s hard to tell whether if you’re liked or not. Again, I can be my own worst critic!
