Cool Video: Amy Winehouse sings with the Specials at V Festival…

Amy Winehouse returned to performing live for the first time in a while after a long hiatus struggling with her personal life. She’s looking very happy in this video, looking much better and having fun again. Great to see she’s improving her life. Keep it up Amy. Go back to the studio again to record a new album, please! This is a great performance here and Amy sung really good, better than I ever heard of her before. Come back to the music business Amy, I miss you as we all do!

Thought: Did Lady Gaga steal image from Roisin Murphy???

Roisin Murphy is above, Lady Gaga below. Look at the sunglasses. Notice the similarities? Almost an exact close match. Roisin is an electronica pop star from Ireland. She says she’s been ripped off by Lady Gaga.

More on it here:

I’m actually with Roisin that Lady Gaga ripped her off. Just another reason to hate Lady Gaga.

Report: “Shutter Island” pushed back to Spring of 2010…

The new horror film, “Shutter Island” that was directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo Dicaprio has been pushed back to a later date. It was originally scheduled for releas Oct. 2nd, but Paramount pushed it for Feb. 19th of 2010. The studio did this ’cause they were having economic problems.

Variety Reports:

It’s a good move because with the Michael Jackson, “This is It” movie being released that month, MJ will destroy all movies released in Oct. for box offices anyways.

I actually want to see “Shutter Island”, it looks good.

Top Ten Remakes of All Times…

Many people complain about hollywood remakes. I agree that some of them can be really bad and stupid, but now now people, not all hollywood remakes are bad, there are actually some very good ones out there. I’ve always said that remakes don’t really bother me at all ’cause it’s typical that hollywood wants an updated version of an older movie with today’s technology that we didn’t have back in those days.

Here are 10 remakes that I can think of that are really good.

  1. Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” – I find this to be the best remake ever made. I thought Rob Zombie did a beautiful job remaking John Carpenter’s classic. I think this film is amazing.
  2. The Ring – This is one of my favorite new horror films that stars Naomi Watts, this is a pretty creepy and scary film actually. Always loved it.
  3. War of the Worlds – Steven Spielberg’s and Tom Cruise’s take on this alien classic was really good stuff and extremely entertaining. I liked this one a lot.
  4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The Marcus Nispel film that stars Jessica Biel, many people hated this flick, but I loved it.
  5. Scarface – Brian Depalma remake of the 1932 classic, the one that stars Al Pacino has always been one of my favorite films of all times.
  6. Friday the 13th – Another Marcus Nispel remake that stars Jared Padalecki, it’s an improvement of the Friday the 13th series, much bettter Jason Voorhees in this one.
  7. The Last House On the Left – The 1972 Wes Craven remake, I saw the new version in theater and actually thought it was a very good one. It’s about this family that go on vacation to their cabin home by the lake, their daughter is being raped and abused by this gang, the girl’s parents go on revenge and fight them off. This didn’t do well in the box office but I thought this was a very good film.
  8. Insomnia – One of Christopher Nolan’s older films that stars Robin Williams, Al Pacino and Hillary Swank. It’s one of Nolan’s best films outside of, “The Dark Knight”.
  9. Sling Blade – Billy Bob Thornton remade this from the short film, “Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade”. I have never seen the short film, but the 1996 film had the same plot idea. Come on Billy Bob, make a sequel and return as Karl Childers, everyone wants one! I always thought this film deserves a sequel but Billy Bob never made one.
  10. 3:10 To Yuma – A remake from the 1957 Western that stars Christian Bale and Russell Crowe, a very good movie. I really liked it a lot.

Report: Yep, it’s another remake for Bryan Singer, first it’s “Battlestar Galactica” now it’s, “Excalibur”!!!

Warner Bros. studios has closed a deal to remake the 1981 fantasy film, “Excalibur” which tells the story of the famous King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The original is where movie stars like Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart and Gabriel Byrne were first known as actors.

Bryan Singer, is set to produce the new version of “Excalibur”, and he also could possibly direct the film as well. Singer is also set to direct the remake of “Battlestar Galactica”. The article also says that Bryan Singer’s next directed film will be titled, “Jack the Giant Killer”.

Variety Reports:

Hmmmmmm…well looks like this will be a return for Patrick Stewart for the big screen ’cause I can definitely see him reprising his awesome role of King Leondegrance. Maybe Liam Neeson and Gabriel Byrne will also rejoin?

“Excalibur” was a really great movie though, the original.

They’re gonna bring back Patrick Stewart for the remake, I’ll betcha. It’ll be nice to see Patrick back on the big screen, he hasn’t been on the big screen since “X-Men 3: The Last Stand” released back in 2006. Over the years of his hiatus from Hollywood, he’s been doing Broadway theatre plays.

Thought: Defending Jimmy Cameron’s “Avatar”…

As expected, a lot of movie fans are shitting on this movie. Some fans are saying this movie looks cheesy, cartoonish, too much CGI, etc. blah blah blah…

Well, yeah, of course it has to be full of CGI and of course it’s supposed to look a bit cartoonish. It’s a sci fi adventure. How do you supposed to make all that stuff look realistic? YOU CAN’T.

The story of Avatar reminds me of the works of other sci fi greats such as Isaac Asimov and L. Ron Hubbard.

To those who think the film looks cheesy or silly, like a CGI fest, it gets me thinking you’re not that big on sci-fi that much. It’s like, you don’t know much about the sci fi genre. Well, I love the sci fi genre, it’s one of my favorite genres to pay attention to, other than action and horror.

Believe it or not, Jimmy Cameron has been working on this film since 1995. 1995 was the year when he first wrote the script. It took him years to make this movie as it was very difficult and hard work to mix live action and CGI both together.

Although, Jimmy wrote the script to “Avatar” in the early 90’s, he waited until later until the right technology was invented for the right fit and look of this film. Now the right technology finally came out, he figured it was time to get it done.

It took 14 years for Jimmy to make this film, just like it took many years for Tarantino to make “Inglorious Basterds”.

We’re all entitled to our own opinions when it comes to movies, but show Jimmy some respect after years of long and hard work making this film. Don’t bash the film before seeing the movie, it’s silly, see it first, and then make your opinion.

I think the film looks wonderful. Jimmy has been experimenting with live action and CGI for a long time…movies like “The Abyss” and “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”.

In sci fi stories, they are supposed to be weird and cheesy. Like in “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” for example. Many sci fi stories and films are cheesy and goofy, but you know what? It’s just a fictional story! I find sci fi to be the most creative writing and original storytelling than any other genre out there.

Jimmy Cameron’s “Avatar” is an original story that he created. It’s not a remake, not an adaptation of a novel and it’s not even a sequel of another movie. It’s completely original. People complain about those things. So Cameron, finally brings us “Avatar” after 14 years in the making, yet people are still complaining about Hollywood. What gives, hypocrites?

I don’t know what movie fans want anymore.

I personally think, the only reason people are shitting on “Avatar” ’cause Jimmy is the director of that overrated film, “Titanic”. If Jimmy never made “Titanic”, I’m sure everybody would treat “Avatar” with respect.
