Thought: Would Eddie Murphy be a good host for the Oscars? I’d say YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Will the Oscars finally get a good host for once? Deadline was the first to report that the Oscars are in talks with Beverly Hills Cop star, Eddie Murphy to host the next Oscars. As you all know film director, Brett Ratner, is producing this year’s Oscars and he was the one that recommended the Academy to hire Eddie as host.

Would Eddie Murphy be a good host? Oh hell yeah! Absolutely! Eddie Murphy’s career maybe sinking lately by making a bunch of bad movies, but he had a successful career in the 80’s and early 90’s. Eddie Murphy is most famous for movies such as “48 hrs.”, the “Beverly Hills Cop” trilogy, “Coming To America”, “Harlem Nights”, and the two “Nutty Professor” sequels.

He’s a great actor and a great stand up comedian. Plus, this would be a great opportunity for Eddie to get his career back on track just by hosting the Oscars. While he is a very talented stand up comedian, he’s going to have to cut out the swearing and the dirty talk ’cause he does a lot of that at his stand up shows. I’m sure he’s going to drop a few F bombs by accident if he hosted the Oscars, but that’s the way comedians talk on stage. I think there’s going to be a lot of bleeping outs.

I’m all for Eddie hosting the Oscars. I hope they get him. It’ll be good for his career. He’s probably going to make fun of himself for not winning an Oscar most of the time, although he did get nominated for, “Dreamgirls”.

Book Review: “Wrestling the Hulk” by Linda Hogan

I know what you’re probably thinking. You’re probably thinking, “Why, Kev, Why did you get this book?” While this book maybe a little controversial and people would call her evil for writing it, I picked up this book ’cause I find her a hot lady in some weird way, like I said once before. She draws me to her, for some weird reason. She’s a pretty attractive looking Mom. I think that’s what it is.

A lot of people speculated that this book was about Linda Hogan bashing her ex-husband, Hulk Hogan. When I actually read this book, yes, I actually read it, the book surprisingly wasn’t about that at all. What the book is mostly is about is what it’s like living with a wrestling icon and a superstar. It’s not as easy as it looks and she explains it all in detail. The book is about learning how to rebuild your life after a troubled marriage. She had a really heated divorce with Hulk (I remember it all in the news) and she ends up dating a new guy that is old enough to be her son.

The question you have to ask is, did I enjoy the read? Surprisingly I did. I actually liked the book quite a lot. She was very entertaining. She seems like an intelligent and honest woman.

What I was surprised about is that she knew a lot about the wrestling business and she actually went into detail about the old WWF of how a young Vince McMahon started the company. She talked a lot about the wrestling industry which is what I was most interested in.

I also liked how she talked about the Nick Hogan car crash controversy toward the end of the book. Whether you like the Hogan family or not, you have to admit that was a very scary time for them. They really went through a difficult time back then.

She talked about the allegations of Hulk Hogan having affairs with different women which was the reason for the divorce. Of course, I’m sure Hulk Hogan plays the innocent victim and claims he was faithful to Linda, but I’m on Linda’s side.

This was a very interesting and inspiring read. Linda Hogan just got a lot more respect from me. I’m glad I read it. It’s not bad that some people think. Like they all say, don’t knock it, if you haven’t read it. I hope she writes a sequel to it.

Jealousy & Fitness…

When you get into fitness, the better shape you become, the more jealous people get of you. It’s crazy, knowing from my own experience. The last thing I want, is for people to be jealous of me. I hope to inspire people to change their lifestyles and get into fitness like me.

How can you tell when people are jealous?

Well, they’ll laugh at ya a little and make a little joke about it. Sometimes people don’t say anything at all and just stare, looking at you with those “jealous” eyes. Sometimes some people even attack ya. In the world of fitness, you’re going to be surrounded by jealousy. That’s just the way it is.

Don’t let it get to ya. If you want to be successful at your fitness dreams, you can’t let jealousy of other people bring you down. When people are jealous of you, it can actually be a good thing. It can help let you know that you are in good shape and people can’t take it. It kills them that they are not in good shape themselves.

I just want to help promote fitness and help get other people get into it. All people want to do these days is drink alcohol and have a bad nutrition. I’ll have another topic on alcohol tomorrow.

Thought: In response to the latest George Lucas controversy…

For the past week or so, George Lucas, the man who created “Star Wars” is in a huge backlash because he made changes with the new Blu Ray’s. In the “Return of the Jedi” Blu Ray he made Darth Vader scream, “Noooo”, while Emperor Palpatine is shooting electricity at Luke. They also replaced Yoda’s puppet character into a CGI version of Yoda for the original trilogy.

What I find hilarious is the Star Wars fans hating on George Lucas now when they should have been hating on him a long time ago? I’ve lost my respect for George ever since he re-did the original trilogy to add some scenes and add more special effects. Plus, I hated the prequels. “The Phantom Menace” and “Attack of the Clones” were garbage films, I didn’t like them at all. I must say that “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” was actually a pretty good movie though.

I’m a George Lucas hater like a lot of you. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the original movies before George decided to mess with them. I’m just sick of seeing Star Wars everywhere. We already got a Star Wars animated series going on now, “Attack of the Clones”, and there is a possible Star Wars live action TV series on the way too.

Why is it that George concentrates on Star Wars only and he can’t do something original? It’s because he’s a HACK! In other words, he sucks. He mostly does Star Wars for most of his life because he’s only successful at that and nothing else. If he tries something different, it fails. Look what he did to Indy IV, “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, perfect example.

No offense to Star Wars fans, I find Star Wars overrated. I’m a Star Trek guy, big time. I like Star Trek more, ’cause they tell actual stories. Star Trek is insightful, and more entertaining. I wish people wouldn’t knock Star Trek because a lot of people find it boring. I don’t find it boring.

Sure, don’t get me wrong, I respected George Lucas’s legacy he created with Star Wars back in the day, but now he’s a fucking joke. He’s got a really big ego and another reason he continues to work with Star Wars is because it helps make him money. He don’t need to work. He should have retired a long time ago after the original trilogy. How many more versions of Star Wars can George come up with? I don’t think he’s going to stop anytime soon.

Thought: Facebook is just like TMZ, but ten times worse…

I love it when people call TMZ, a bad site, when the reality is, Facebook has way more gossip than TMZ. Seriously think about it. I don’t use facebook for stupid bullshit. I pretty much use it to network my blog site. That’s pretty much it, really. In other words, using my facebook page to promote my blog and my music.

I stay out of everyone else’s drama and personal lives. Facebook maybe a good place to rant if you’re having a bad day and facebook maybe a good place to make personal things public, but truthfully it isn’t.

When couples get together, split up, get married or even divorced, you immediately know about it ’cause it’s all on facebook. Quite sad really. It’s the same way when celebrity couples get married and split ’cause you heard it on TMZ. No difference!

You must use facebook carefully and responsibly and a lot of people don’t. What you post online is there forever, people don’t forget these things. You put yourself out there in a negative direction, people will look at you in a negative way.

This is why I use my facebook page to talk my usual topics: movies, music, wrestling, fitness, etc. It’s best to keep my personal life out of things ’cause this stuff could quickly spread around everywhere on the internet and people could make terrible rumors about you.

It isn’t facebook that makes the site terrible, it’s HOW you use it!!!! Use facebook responsibly and carefully, things will be fine!

Film Review: Apollo 18

Starring: Lloyd Owen, Warren Christie

Directed by: Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego

Today, I decided to go to the mall, to go check out a movie. There were quite a few movies out recently that I wanted to see but it was hard to make up my mind. I was going to see either: “Conan, The Barbarian”, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”, “Colombiana”, and this film, “Apollo 18”. I ended up seeing, “Apollo 18” first since I have a huge interest in science fiction and outer space things.

Here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: “Apollo 18” is set in December of 1974. The story is about a post-Apollo 17 mission to the  moon, explaining why NASA never went back to the moon, cancelling all future missions. Two astronauts visit the moon for a special mission, and while there, they discover parasitic lifeforms. These mysterious lifeforms begin to attack the astronauts and they try their best for survival.

A lot of people seem to hate found footage hand-held camera movies that seems to be trending in Hollywood lately. Why? I think found footage films is a great idea. I love them, honestly. Here’s why…

In horror films of today, we get way too many high budget teen slasher flicks and remakes of older horror films lately. I find found footage films to be something unique, different and original. Of course, found footage films all started with the “Blare Witch Project”, and more followed after. Most of today’s horror films, the big budget ones are not scary. They are mostly blood, guts and naked women, but with found footage films we don’t get any of that. The found footage movies such as “Blare Witch”, “Paranormal Activity”, “Quarantine”, and many others can be very scary movies. In my opinion, I think they all do a good job in making them believable.

In “Apollo 18” was the most realistic found footage movie I’ve ever seen. I also think it’s the scariest found footage movie ever made. I’m about to explain why.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be on the moon? It may sound fun and very exciting but at the same time, it can be a very scary job being an astronaut. I’m pretty sure Neil Armstrong, was scared to death before he set his foot on the moon for the first time. That’s exactly what made this movie pretty fucking scary. This movie makes it scared to be on the moon.

The reason this movie makes it so realistic is, even though this movie was fiction, this movie was inspired by the real life story. They just added the fictional aliens into this story. While a lot of people don’t really believe in aliens and UFO’s, you still never know what could be out there. I certainly believe that there are other lifeforms somewhere other than us.

Anyway, the cinematography and the filming of the movie, was phenomenal. That is another reason they made this movie realistic, it was the camera work. To make a believable outer space movie, there couldn’t be high budgeted CGI effects. You ain’t going to see “Star Wars” or “Star Trek” in this film. This film is going to make you feel like you’re out in space, yourself.

Plus, the performances of Lloyd Owen and Warren Christie, were excellent. I thought this was the best found footage movie so far. It’s a nice mix of horror and sci fi. The funny thing is, that people don’t get into sci fi much. I absolutely love science fiction. I love to watch sci fi movies and read sci fi books. Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury are two of my favorite sci fi writers.

“Apollo 18” was fantastic, check it out!

Score for “Apollo 18” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Book Review: “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Lee Dugard…

Today, I finished reading, “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Lee Dugard.

This book is about the disappearance of Jaycee Dugard. It’s tells everything about her life living with the Garrido’s, Phillip & Nancy. She was abducted in 1991 at the age of 11. You may have already known about this story of what they reported in the media, but in this book she reveals a lot of things that nobody knows about. She explains everything in detail of how she lived her life, being held captive by the Garrido’s.

I must warn you that this book is not for everyone to read even though you may think it is. Do not read this book if you: 1) are offended at sexual content 2) can’t take adults sexual abuse against children (which she explains in detail in the book) 3) are scared of this happening to you 4) can’t take graphic material.

You may look at this as a positive and happy book but it really isn’t. It’s very dark and disturbing. I read this book in a few quick days because it was very short. The pacing was really fast, because the way she wrote this book sounded like a young child wrote it.

This book will make you feel sorry and sad for her. I sure did. I don’t think I  could read a book like this again though. Even I felt a little frightened reading it.

Did I like it? Well hard to say really. This book was never meant to be liked or disliked, in my opinion. To me, I looked at it as an educational book. She teaches you about survival. If you’ve been abducted and kidnapped, it’s always possible to stay alive. Either to escape or get rescued, either way. She teaches you that just because a person goes missing doesn’t mean he/she could be dead. She proves that.

Feel free to read this book if you want, but to be honest, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Report: Billy Joel stills writes new songs all the time, but he won’t release them…

Billy Joel, recently had a new interview with VH1 Radio, and he revealed that he is still writing new rock n’ roll songs daily but he won’t release them. Billy says he still writes new original songs because he’s still learning how to be a musician.

Read what he has to say, here.

Even though he is a retired musician, of course, he’s still making music. He’s a musician, that’s what musicians do. He’s probably sick of the music industry of today so he just makes music just for himself. It would be nice if he made a big comeback though. Never say never though. Maybe he will come out of retirement and release a new album, someday. All we can do is cross our fingers. Billy Joel has been a favorite of mine for years.

On a side note, I’m pretty sure Billy is very flattered that Lindsay Lohan got Billy’s lyrics tattoo’ed on her. I’m sure he is happy about that.
