BREAKING NEWS: Adrien Brody to star the lead in “Predators”!!!

Robert Rodriguez is helming the upcoming “Predators” movie, which will be released by 20th Century Fox and seems that Rodriguez found the film’s leading star.

Oscar winner, Adrien Brody, is set to star the lead in, “Predators”. While he is mostly known as a drama star, this will give him the opportunity to make him known as an action star as well. Brody will be playing a character similar to Arnold’s, Dutch from the first “Predator” film.

Variety Reports:

http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/10/brody-leads-predators-team-for-fox.html

Look like Adrien will have to start working out in the gym and bulk up a bit for this role. He won’t be no Arnold since he is a skinny guy, but Adrien should at least look fit and tough for this role if he’s really going for it. I’m sure he would get in shape for this role.

I’m not sure if I like this choice, I’m not a fan of this guy’s acting but hey ya never know, maybe Adrien can actually deliver this film.

Film Review: Zombieland

Starring: Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and a special surprise guest.

Directed by: Ruben Fleischer

Today, I saw the movie “Zombieland” on my day off of work. There are two movies out in theater now that I want to see. They are either “Zombieland” or Drew Barrymore’s “Whip It”. I just had to see “Zombieland” first. I want to see “Whip It” too, but I will see that next. Here is my review of “Zombieland”.

Plot/Synopsis: Two men who are named Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) team up to try and survive their life, when the world is taken over by zombies that eats human flesh. Columbus dreams of falling in love with a girl if he ever finds a human one alive, while Tallahassee’s only mission is to eat a snack called a Twinkie which is very hard to find. Later in the film, the two men team up with these two young girls, Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who are better at fighting off the zombies then the two men are. Plus, there is a very special surprise celebrity cameo guest that won’t be revealed in this review. You will have to see the film yourself to find out.

As expected, I thought the movie was very fun and entertaining, it was great. The movie was funny as hell, and had laughs all the way through. It’s also a mix of horror and action. I thought it was more of an action movie than anything though. The action scenes in the film were brilliant.

The zombies in the film were pretty well made. I wasn’t bored at all in this movie and had a smile on my face throughout the whole film. I was most impressed by Woody Harrelson’s acting in this film. His acting was so good in it.

It told a good story too. This film made you really wonder what it would be like if living dead people really took over this world in real life. I don’t think this is a type of film that George A. Romero would have made. This film was completely different from Romero’s style. I think this was one of the best new zombie movies I’ve seen in a long time.

As far as who is the celebrity guest appearance that made a cameo in the film, I’m not gonna say…but I can give you a few clues…

This guy recently did voice overs for a video game based on a popular movie. He used to be an SNL actor. He was the first special guest on David Letterman’s “The Late Show” in 1982.

“Zombieland” was a blast, fuckin’ loved it! I would reccomend you to see it before it stops playing!

Score for “Zombieland” = **** (4 stars as in “Excellent”)

Brock’s Top 15 horror films of all time…

Well October is here and Halloween is just around the corner. My favorite thing to do when celebrating Halloween is sitting around the house, watching horror films. As some of you may know, horror is my favorite genre. I do these lists every year on Halloween and sometimes these lists changes. The list for this year will be quite different ’cause I’ve seen plenty of great horror films that really impressed me the last several years.

Here is the list, I’ll go backwards with the no. 1 being the best I’ve ever seen in a long time. Enjoy as this list may be quite a shocker to you as well….

15. Wolf Creek

(this film was released in 2005, an Australian horror film about a group of teenage backpackers out on a hike, then they find themselves held captive by a vicious serial killer. I’ve seen many teen slashers, and I think “Wolf Creek” is the best teen slasher I’ve ever seen. If you want to see a teen slasher flick that is actually scary as hell, see this one. This one will send shivers down your spine, trust me. There are some scary scenes in this flick and some of the most brutal murders in a film ever. The killer whose name is Mick Taylor is one scary dude)

14. Frailty

(This is a horror film that stars Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey, the film was also directed by Bill Paxton himself. The story tells a group of young children who are brothers, they live with their single dad when they don’t know about his evil past of being a demonic serial killer. The father claims he kills people because he sees them as demons. A creepy film that is perfect for watching with all the lights off)

13. Quarantine

(A young female news reporter does a report on firemen. Firemen go to this apartment building to rescue people from these evil beings, wouldn’t really call them zombies, but they are people that were infected by a mutant virus. One of the scariest new horror films I’ve seen in a long time, so this definitely makes the list. Might start off kind of boring and slow, but toward the end, the film will take you at the edge of your seat…)

12. Night of the Living Dead (Romero version)

(This is such a perfect film to watch on Halloween night every year, classic film and amazing, although Romero is still doing Zombie movies today, the rest of his work won’t top this one)

11. Nosferatu

(My favorite vampire movie over Dracula, the silent film version is so scary…you may not like silent films but they can be great when you get into it. Silent films was the start of Hollywood films, keep in mind…)

10. Hellraiser

(The first Hellraiser movie was amazing. Told a good story, and powerful writing. This has always been one of my favorite horror films of all times)

9. Friday the 13th (remake, directed by Marcus Nispel)

(This is actually an impressive remake. I liked the new Jason Voorhees, much improvement. It told a good story too, I thought this film was great and better than the original series, honestly)

8. The Omen

(To throw in another classic here, “The Omen” has always been an incredible film and a film I would never get tired of watching. I think it’s Gregory Peck’s best film)

7. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake, Marcus Nispel)

(Believe it or not, I think the Marcus Nispel remake of Texas Chainsaw is much better than the Tobe Hooper original. I think the remake was what the original should have been. I think Marcus is a fine film maker in the horror genre and he certainly knows how to make a remake better than the original)

6. The Ring

(Starring Naomi Watts, and directed by Gore Verbinski, a very creepy film, in my opinion. This is creative storytelling. There’s no gore, no murder, just a scary film. I love it)

5. The Strangers

(This film “The Strangers” with Liv Tyler, makes high on the list. I was completely blown away by the film. Definitely scary and horrifying. You’ll know when you see it, this is a perfect Halloween film)

4. Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn

(My favorite of the Evil Dead series. Groovy)

3. The Exorcist

(Another classic I had to throw in here. I loved this flick ever since I was a child)

2. Halloween (John Carpenter)

(This always made no. 1 every year on my list. Why is it no. 2 now? Carpenter’s a classic, a film that I love, but there’s something else I’ve seen that I liked even more)

********************Scroll down for No. 1*************************

1. Halloween II (remake, Rob Zombie)

(This may come to quite a shock to you, and may create some controversy, but that’s okay. I find Rob Zombie’s “Halloween II” to be quite a masterpiece. No lie. It didn’t get the best reviews, but I learned that the movies getting negative reviews is what makes them really good. You’ve read my review of this in the past when it first came out and I was in awe. Rob Zombie’s a gifted film maker. I just love his vision on how Rob concentrates on the villain’s point of view more than it’s leading star. In Rob’s movies, the villain’s the leading star, not Laurie Strode. This really was a fantastic movie, I loved it. The critics and movie fans that trashed this film, just don’t understand Rob Zombie’s film making style. I do. This is one of the best horror flicks I’ve seen in the last decade)

Thought: Will “Mr. T” cameo in the A-Team remake???

Since Rampage Jackson replaced Mr. T in the upcoming “A-Team” remake, will Mr. T cameo in a different role in the “A-Team” remake? There were no reports saying that Mr. T himself would have a cameo in it. So I’m guessing they are keeping it quiet for a surprise. I think Mr. T will have a small role, in the “A-Team” remake, it would be a mistake if they didn’t have him in some way.

Maybe even Dirk Benedict will have a cameo as well.

Report: Liam Neeson joins, “The Next Three Days” thriller…

Man, Liam Neeson has been keeping himself busy in Hollywood these days. He’s just going to keep getting even busier. Liam just joined, “The Next Three Days” thriller, which the film will be directed by Paul Haggis for Lionsgate studios. Liam will play a writer who’s broken out of jail several times and he helps a school teacher whose wife is arrested for a gruesome murder, they team to help break her out of jail. Liam Neeson will star alongside, Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. Brian Dennehy and Daniel Stern will also star.

Liam Neeson finished filming “Clash of the Titans” and “After Life”. He is now currently filming, “The A-Team” remake.

Variety Reports:

http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/10/neeson-joins-haggis-thriller-.html

“Next Three Days”, sounds like another box office hit. I’m sure there will be action scenes in the film that Liam will be involved in ’cause of his action thriller in, “Taken”.

Great to see Brian Dennehy still acting, maybe there’s a chance that he will return as Will Teasle for “Rambo V” if Sly writes him in? Sounds to me that Brian Dennehy will play the warden of the prison that they will break the teacher’s wife out of jail.

Former child stars still acting in Hollywood today…

Yahoo compiled a list of top former child stars who are still acting in Hollywood today.

See the list here:

http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/collections/gallery/2090/split-screen-most-successful-child-stars/fp#photo0

I’m glad they didn’t forget Kurt Russell, but they are still missing some very important ones.

How about:

  • Jerry O’ Connell
  • Wil Wheaton
  • Corey Feldman
  • Sean Astin
  • Charlie Sheen
  • Josh Brolin

Those are all actors still working today, how can Yahoo forget about Josh Brolin? Idiots! Josh has been acting since he was a kid and still a successful actor today.

Report: Tarantino announces plans for “Kill Bill 3″…

While promoting “Inglourious Basterds” at the Morelia International Film Festival, Quentin Tarantino announced he has plans to work on “Kill Bill 3”. The third installment of the “Kill Bill” trilogy that will bring back Uma Thurman in the leading role.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118009525.html?categoryid=1043&cs=1

With David Carridine being dead in real life, and the Bill character is being dead in the film, how is there gonig to be a third one? You know Tarantino, he has one crazy fucking mind. A very creative mind. He’ll still make Bill be part of the movie some how. Bill Jr., maybe???

I’m betting your money that Tarantino not only wants to do a Kill Bill 3 just for another hit, more importantly, a dedication to Carradine. RIP, Dave.

First look at the A-Team remake…photos…

The A-Team has finally started filming with cast members. See how the characters are just an exact match from the original TV series. Liam Neeson looks exactly like George Peppard as Hannibal as I expected. Rampage Jackson looks exactly like Mr. T, Bradley Cooper is an exact match to Faceman Peck, and Sharlto Copley as Murdock.

See the rest of the pics here:

Very cool.

Maybe the A-Team movie would actually be promising and it’s getting better looking at the photos.

Report: Dennis Hopper hospitalized…

Actor Dennis Hopper has been hospitalized due to stomach pains from flu like symptoms. He was just in New York City to promote the new TV series, “Crash”, which he stars in. He is also known from huge films such as, “Blue Velvet”, “Speed” and “Easy Rider”. He was forced to cancel many upcoming TV interviews.

The Associated Press reports:

If he’s the next one to hit the grave, that would be sad. He’s a talented actor. Wish him well and speedy recovery.

Actress turned film director, Drew Barrymore, celebrated the release of her directorial debut, “Whip It” premiered in Los Angeles. As you can see here, Drew got a surprise visit by a longtime friend, and that is Steven Spielberg. The man responsible for making her famous.

As you all know, Drew Barrymore was born into Hollywood. Drew’s been acting in films ever since she was a little baby. Since she’s been doing films her whole life, this is how she is able to learn how to direct movies on her own. She is finally directing her own films.

Spielberg still has love for Drew as you can see here. He’s a good man to come out to support her film. Glad to see the two together again!
