Actor, Jeff Bridges is in talks with the Coen Bros. to star in the remake of “True Grit” western that originally starred, John Wayne. Jeff once worked with the Coen Bros. in the 1998 comedy film, “The Big Lebowski” as the role that everybody knows, The Dude.
Does this mean that John Goodman could have a role in “True Grit” also? We’ll just have to wait and see.

I used to like the Coen Bros. but their last couple of movies has been shit lately. And I have a feeling their, “True Grit” remake would probably be shit too.
My top 5 Coen Bros. movies are:
Everything else they did wasn’t that great.

Hollywood seems to be giving no love to He-Man. Warner Bros. parted ways with Mattel and dropped out of the new He-Man movie. “Masters of the Universe” that Joel Silver has been working on for a long time.

I think Warner Bros. is worried that the reboot of He-Man is going to fail. They were the same studio that made “Masters of the Universe” 1987 version that starred Dolph Lundgren, which that film bombed and didn’t do well in box office.
I don’t see the project ending for good. The new “Masters of the Universe” will probably get picked up by either Paramount or Twentieth Century Fox. It may as well be Fox.

When I read through movie forums, movie blogs and other movie news sites, when Nicolas Cage is being discussed in a news story, he seems to get a lot of hate. Mostly people claim that he is not a good actor. He doesn’t have good acting skills.
Um…like Nicolas Cage or hate him, he is a huge box office draw. He had some bombs and flops, but most of his filmography were smash hits.
I defended Nicolas Cage once before in this blog, and I wouldn’t mind doing it again. I have no problem with Nicolas Cage’s acting, he’s fine in my book. He’s just an actor, that’s all he is. Just a guy doing what he loves, making movies. This guy is an Oscar winner, and doesn’t have bad acting? He won for the movie, “Leaving Las Vegas” which is one of his best films.
Movie fans also claim that he doesn’t pick movies very well. Um, please?
Check out his box office mojo:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?id=nicolascage.htm
If a film he picks makes a lot of money, I believe he is doing a very good job choosing his roles. Nicolas Cage is also one of the hardest working actors on this planet. Pretty much the hardest working I’ve ever seen.
When was the last time Nic Cage had a hiatus from film? He never did. He’s always made film after film. When he finishes one film, he’s off to make another. That’s all this dude does in his life, is make movies.
People should respect him for that, but nope I think people just trash him with a fit of jealousy rage. Even if you hate him, I’m sure you at least love a few of his movies, you gotta admit that. He’s a guy that stays out of the tabloids, he doesn’t give interviews too much, he concentrates on working.
My top ten favorite films that he starred in are:
You may think he’s boring and not good, but it’s only opinion. The man works hard. All of them box office hits he made, this is the reason he is still around. As long as you are paying to see his movies in the theaters, this is how he makes his money as well, something to think about.
I thought “Knowing” was one of his best films he’s done in a long time. His acting is actually great in that film, he delivers it, plus the story to that film is great writing. Check it out if you haven’t yet.
Nothing wrong with Nicolas Cage at all, and I don’t understand why most people think he’s so bad. He’s a good dude, in my book. He deserves the respect.

There is the new teaser poster for the upcoming “This is It” Michael Jackson movie. There will be tour rehearsal footage and more. Film comes out next month on Oct. 28th. Will I see it?
I probably will end up seeing it. I’m curious to see it.
Just a warning though, it’ll be kind of sad to see in theater ’cause people will walk out of the theaters wiping their eyes.
This is for sure to be a huge blockbuster hit. Saw VI won’t even top this.

Walt Disney studios buys out Marvel comics? Well, Warner Bros. says take this Disney, we are at war here. Warner Bros. revamped DC comics to create DC Entertainment. WB’s hired, Diane Nelson to help run, DC Entertainment as their top chief and main boss. They did this as a way to make better use of DC superhero characters.

Diane must be a huge fan of comic books if she accepted this job immediately, so she obviously knows her shit with superheroes.
I really hope they get the new Superman movie in the works soon.

The hot and sexy MMA fighter, Gina Carano, is set to play the leading role in Steven Soderbergh’s “Knockout”, which will be a spy thriller.
If you don’t know who Steven Soderberg is, he’s the director of such movies like the “Oceans Eleven” trilogy, and “Traffic”.
Variety Reports:

Hopefully this movie is R rated, and Gina will agree to doing nude scenes, baring her breasts and all. I doubt it but it be kind of cool. She’s always been strict about doing nudity but maybe she’ll think differently doing it for film, who knows. All we can do is cross our fingers.

Nicolas Cage was set to play the main villain of, Seth Rogen’s “The Green Hornet”, but not anymore. Cage apparently dropped out on the last minute when the crew were just beggining filming of the movie.
No reasons were explained as to why Cage dropped out but my bet is that knowing that Cage is a huge fan of comic books and superheroes himself, he knows what’s good and what’s bad. Well I’m sure he probably thought Seth Rogen’s take on the “Green Hornet” was bad.

Starring: Sharlto Copley
Directed by: Neil Blomkamp
So on my Martha’s Vineyard vacation over the weekend, I saw the movie “District 9” in a small movie theater in Edgartown on that island.
Here is my review:
Plot/synopsis: Strange beings of extraterrestrial’s have been stuck on planet Earth for 20 years. A huge mothership hovers over the city of Johannesburg, South Africa in the year of 2010. The area is also known as District 9 where it is taken over by aliens and the military. The aliens live on Earth as part of human’s every day lives.
MNU is a company that is interested in the aliens use of weapons, which they don’t care about the aliens going back to their home planets where they came from.
The MNU operative and main boss, Wikus van der Merwe, goes on a mission to force aliens to move to a new District 10. While searching an aliens home, Merwe finds a small alien device which squirts liquid in people’s faces. Merwe finds out that he is soon turning himself into one of those aliens by that liquid.
Merwe becomes friends with an alien named Christopher Johnson who has a small alien son. Christopher agrees to help Merwe to stop turning himself into an alien, to go back to human. Christopher explains he needs to bring Merwe to the mothership in order to turn him back to a full human but first he needs the fluid for the small alien spacecraft to travel up to the mothership with.
This was a perfect movie. Very good storytelling, very good acting, good pacing, and great cinematography. Most sci fi action adventures have silly plot lines and lots of corny action, but “District 9” was a very serious movie. I loved how they made this movie seems like it can really happen. Very realistic stuff. Probably the most intelligent writing I’ve ever seen.
No big stars at all in this film, the entire cast were pretty much unknowns. I heard there is going to be a sequel to this film, ’cause I notice there is still more story to tell.
It’s very rare we get movies with really good writing, and finally we get one. Whether you’re into sci fi films or not, you should see this. This is my second favorite movie of the summer, right behind, “Star Trek”. This movie, “District 9” is more of a mix of sci fi/horror and action. 1st half of “District 9” gets serious and very deep, 2nd half gets really action packed.
I thought, “District 9” was a fuckin’ masterpiece, and loved every single minute of the film. Do yourself a favor and see it! Genius storytelling here.
Score for “District 9” = **** (4 stars as in “Excellent”)

Besides my main hero, Sly, I’m sure you’re wondering who else I like in the action genre. What other action stars, I like the most other than Sly.
Here they are, I’ll name 5 of them:
Arnold…(I’ve always been a huge Arnie fan, love all of his films except for a few of them…the ones that I didn’t like of Arnie’s were, “Red Sonja”, “Kindergarten Cop”, “Junior”, and “Eraser”. I didn’t list “Collateral Damage” ’cause I actually liked that one. I loved the rest of his movies though, always supported Arnie.)
Bruce Willis… (Enough said? Bruce is the man. He had his share of movies that weren’t good too, but I liked most of ’em.)
Matt Damon… (I want this guy to keep doing action flicks instead of doing too many dramas, he is so awesome as Jason Bourne, I love the Bourne films, all three of them. Can’t wait for the fourth one!)
Dolph Lundgren… (I’ve always liked this dude. “The Expendables” will help him get him out of straight to DVD movies and he will be back on the big screen nationwide for the rest his life, thanks Sly for bringing him back!)
Kurt Russell… (“Big Trouble In Little China”, “Escape from New York”, “Breakdown”, “Dark Blue”, “Death Proof”, “Tango and Cash”, etc. This guy is a fuckin’ badass. COME ON BACK TO HOLLYWOOD KURT, we miss you!)
