David Fincher was original choice to direct “Star Wars: Episode VII” but he said no…

Before JJ Abrams got the gig to direct “Star Wars Episode VII”, David Fincher was one of the original directors to helm the next Star Wars film but he simply turned it down. The reason is ’cause he’s a huge fan of “Empire Strikes Back” and he would have made “Episode VII” more like that film. He also said that the reason he turned it down is ’cause he saw the Star Wars films as two droids being slaves like the first two and they stopped the droids being slaves storyline in “Jedi”. Fincher would have kept the droids being slaves story going.

While Fincher is one of the best directors out there, I don’t he’d make a great fit either. Knowing how all of Fincher’s films are, he would have made the film too dark and too intense for families. He would have made the story too difficult for children to understand. I’m a huge fan of all of Fincher’s directed movies, of course, the only film he did I didn’t care for was “Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, that was the only one I didn’t like but all of his other directed movies were great: “Alien 3”, “Se7en”, “Fight Club”, “Social Network”, “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, etc. I also love his Netflix TV show, “House of Cards”.

I’m looking forward to seeing “Gone Girl”. That’s the next film I plan on seeing in theater.

Now here’s a question for Mr. Fincher, “When are you going to get around to getting ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire’ in the works?”. Come on, dude, bring back Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara for another Millennium film. His, “Dragon Tattoo” film was pretty amazing. That’s the best film he did, in my opinion. I wish he would get to the work on the sequel already!!! We’re all waiting for it!

Netflix will finally make it’s first original movie and it will be the sequel to the film, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”…

Netflix have been doing their own original TV shows such as “House of Cards”, “Orange Is the New Black”, “Hemlock Groove” and others but it was only a matter of time that they are gonna start doing their original films. Their first original film will be a sequel to the 2000’s Ang Lee directed, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” which is a martial arts action film.

Ang Lee will not return to direct but the film will be produced by the Weinstein Co. The plot is unknown at this time and it is also not yet known if any of the original cast such as Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun Fat and Ziyi Zang will reprise their roles or not.

The original “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is one of my favorite films of all time and I’m a huge fan of martial arts movies so hopefully the sequel will be good.

I hope they’ll get the original cast to reprise their roles ’cause if they don’t come back, fans of the first movie won’t be interested. I remember seeing the original in theater in 2000 when it first came out and watched it on DVD many times… I still have the original film on DVD in my movie collection. It’s a great film and it’s Ang Lee’s best directed film, in my opinion.

I bet Netflix had to get some written permission from Ang Lee for the sequel so Ang must be cool with them doing the sequel without him. “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” really is a beautiful film, though, and I would recommend it if you have never seen it before.

Look like William Shatner may finally get his wish, he may appear in “Star Trek 3″…

When the first Star Trek movie came out, I remember that William Shatner desperately wanted to return as Captain Kirk just like Leonard Nimoy returned as Spock for the first film. However, JJ Abrams didn’t want Kirk to return to the first film since Kirk got killed off in “Star Trek: Generations”. Remember, JJ and Bill Shatner had a little public feud ’cause JJ wouldn’t have him in the film? I’ll never forget that feud as it was entertaining as hell stuff!

Well, it’s looking like that JJ wants the original Captain Kirk back in the film with Leonard as Spock. The original Cpt. Kirk and Spock to reunite in the next Star Trek film? If that’s gonna happen which probably will, I’ll go see it.

Even if the original Cpt. Kirk got killed off in an earlier Star Trek movie, I’m sure they’ll find a way to bring him back. Keep in mind, Bill Shatner is a sci-fi writer himself so I’m sure he’ll give JJ some ideas.

“Star Trek: Into Darkness” was a horrible film and I’m sure the next film won’t be any better but I’ll go see it if the original Cpt. Kirk and Spock are gonna reunite. That’ll be pretty cool to see.

Saw the movie, Lee Daniels “The Butler” last night and the film was horrible…

Last night for my Friday night movie, I saw “Lee Daniels The Butler” and I think it was one of the worst movies of last year. I just felt that the movie was horribly written and their take on the civil rights movement was told pretty badly.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Forest Whitaker is one of the best actors of all time, he’s one of my favorites but I just didn’t care for this film. The civil rights story in this film seemed pretty inaccurate and the history of the film was re-written.

I thought it was silly seeing all of those actors playing different presidents… although, Robin Williams did the best job playing Pres. Eisenhower, he killed it even though Robin had a tiny role in the film.

I think the only reason this film was over hyped and shoved in our faces last year was because of Oprah Winfrey. If she wasn’t in that film, the film wouldn’t have been that big. Plus, I think people wouldn’t have cared about the film if the film didn’t show her big cleavage throughout most of it. Yeah, the film showed her cleavage and I think that’s the only reason the film was successful.

The Robin Williams performance was the only good thing about the film, in my opinion, other than that, I thought the film was trash and could have been better. I’m not a big Oprah fan and she was kind of annoying in this film just like she was annoying as hell on her talk show.

Lee Daniels “The Butler” is not a good civil rights movie. I thought “12 Years A Slave” with Lupita Nyongo was the better civil rights film. I wouldn’t recommend “The Butler”.

What’s even worse with “The Butler”, I don’t mean to spoil the ending but it’s gotta be said is that the film treated Barack Obama like he’s some sort of civil rights hero and I’m like really? Barack Obama a civil rights hero? No freakin’ way. I was disgusted with the film that it tried to make Obama look good. Obama is no way a civil rights hero. There’s a lot of black people out there that don’t like him anymore and regretted supporting him. There’s even some black people out there who despise Obama too.

There’s a lot of false information and fiction in, “The Butler”. I would avoid this one. If you wanna watch good civil rights films, I’d suggest films like Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X”, “In the Heat of the Night”, “The Help”, “12 Years A Slave”, and I’m sure there is many more to name. There is better out there.

Alex and Keanu finally confirms, “Bill and Ted 3″…

Alex Winter, the star of the two “Bill and Ted” movie spoke out more about the 3rd film and says the movie is gonna happen. He gave us small details on the plot that Bill and Ted will be 40 something men trying to figure out whether they are grown up or not.

He also says the third film will not be a re-boot, it’s gonna be the third film adding as a trilogy… leaving off the 2nd film, “Bogus Journey”. Alex promises that the third film will be for the fans and they will not be disappointed.

http://comicbook.com/2014/09/25/bill-ted-3-will-feature-40-something-bill-ted/

I’m a huge fan of the first “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” (which is streaming on Netflix, by the way). I’ve seen “Excellent Adventure” over a 100 times over the years. I didn’t really care for the second film, “Bogus Journey”, though.

Even though, Alex and Keanu haven’t played those characters in many years, I’m sure they can still pull it off well. I’m sure those characters will talk like they always did. I’m sure they will repeatedly say, “Dude” and “Excellent” like they always did. Hopefully Keanu will grow out his long hair for his Ted role. He probably will.

I’m all for a third Bill & Ted movie. Hopefully, they’ll still be doing some time travelling too.

“The Sacrament” brief review…

Last night on Netflix streaming, I finally gotten around to watching “The Sacrament”. It’s a found footage horror film about religious cults. It tells the story about two journalists who make a trip up to “Eden Parish” which is a small private area where a bunch of people live in this group with a guy named Father being the leader. At first, they didn’t seem like a religious cult until they realized it later.

I thought this film was pretty interesting. Religious cults is pretty scary and frightening stuff. I enjoyed this film ’cause it was actually pretty realistic and something like this can happen in real life. Well, something like this already did happen in real life as this story was inspired from the Jonestown Massacre. Remember, the Jim Jones cult leader? This is what this movie is. It’s a re-telling of the Jonestown Massacre. After watching this movie, makes me want to learn more about the Jonestown Massacre.

The content in “The Sacrament” film maybe very dark and controversial but I think it was meant to be. I think it intentionally re-told the story of the Jonestown Massacre ’cause this film wants to remind people that religious cults do exist. I’m sure they still exist to this day.

This film made it’s debut at Venice Film Festival last year but earlier this year it was only shown in a limited amount of theaters. This film is definitely worth checking out, though. If you don’t have Netflix streaming, give it a rent through Itunes or Amazon or where ever you watch your moves online.

I thought it was a pretty good film and it was actually scary.

My top ten favorite Bill Murray films here…

In celebration of Bill Murray’s 64th birthday today, I thought it would be cool to name 10 of his films that are my favorite in no particular order. Here they are with no explanation.

  • Ghostbusters (first one only)
  • Stripes
  • Groundhog Day
  • What About Bob
  • Lost In Translation
  • Scrooged
  • Zombieland (even though it was a cameo, his performance still rocks!!!)
  • Moonrise Kingdom
  • Little Shop of Horrors
  • The Man Who Knew Too Little

I did see him in “The Monuments Men” the George Clooney WWII film that Bill starred in but it was a pretty bad film so I won’t include that one.

It’s a shame that Bill doesn’t want to be in “Ghostbusters 3” but I understand that he wants to move on and understand why he doesn’t want any part of it but I still give him the kudos that he treats “Ghostbusters 3” with respect and love even if he doesn’t want in. That’s just his way of showing the film crew that he has nothing against the film, he doesn’t want in for his own personal reasons.

Happy birthday, Bill! Always been a fan of his work except he has been staying away from comedy a lot lately. He’s been doing a lot of serious dramas lately. I guess he wants to try different things.

Who doesn’t love Bill Murray? If you don’t, then you aren’t a true movie buff!

60 Years Ago Today, Marilyn Monroe filmed the famous scene from “The Seven Year Itch”…

60 years ago today, Marilyn filmed the famous subway grate scene. This is the movie that helped her become the icon that she’s always been. Not only this is one of the most famous movie scenes in America, this scene also helped make the dress that she’s wearing all famous and iconic too.

While this is a pretty cool scene, I think the entire film itself is great and one of her best films.
