Report: “Terminator 5” finally confirmed but will be a reboot…

Paramount Pictures has finally greenlighted, “Terminator 5”; however, this will be a new trilogy. The story for T-5 will not continue after, “Terminator III: Rise of the Machines”. Paramount has set a release date for the new Terminator film in July of 2015. The last Terminator film was, “Terminator: Salvation” starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington — that film was a prequel of the first Terminator film.

While this sounds exciting but to be honest, I’m a little skeptical and disappointed. First of all, I think they should have continued from the original series so they can finish the story of Skynet and John Connor. Secondly, no matter how many sequels and reboots they do with the Terminator franchise — they can’t have much success without James Cameron helming. I mean, why do you think “Rise of the Machines” and “Salvation” weren’t that much of a success? By the way, I didn’t think “Rise of the Machines” and “Salvation” were bad films — I thought they were pretty good actually.

James Cameron made the first two movies for what they were. It was Cameron who made these movies special. I thought the first, ‘Terminator” and “T2: Judgement Day” were absolute masterpieces for sure. Would they ever top what Cameron did to the films? I don’t think so, it’s gonna be tough.

Plus will Arnold return? No word yet but I’m sure he will in some form. To those who mistakenly think Arnold would be too old to be playing Terminator again — don’t badly judge this early. Arnold still can do action movies very well. After what he did with “The Expendables 2” and his latest movie, “The Last Stand” (which was very good, btw) — I think the Governator still has what it takes to play Terminator again for sure.

Hope they hire a good director; although, it wouldn’t surprise me that Hollywood will try to talk Christopher Nolan or Ridley Scott to direct the next Terminator film. I would prefer James Cameron to jump back on board. I doubt Cameron would ever go back to Terminator again but you never know.

I would see the “50 Shades of Grey” movie if…

… the leading character, Anastasia Steele, is naked throughout most of it and hope they hire a hot actress to play her.

A female director has been hired to direct the film and her name is Sam Taylor-Johnson. I would think the reason they wanted a female director ’cause they are better at romance & sex kind of stuff better than everyone else. It’ll be nice if the leading female character will be naked a lot but I have a feeling the male character, Christian Grey, will probably get most of the nude scenes. Why? Because this book franchise is very popular with the ladies and looking at social networking, they’re going crazy over, Christian Grey.

I’ll have to admit that I have read the first book and will admit that I find a bit fascinating. Some of the book was pretty silly from a male reader like myself but the book was alright. I can understand why the ladies would love it so much. I just read it out of curiosity, nothing more. I probably won’t end up seeing it in theater but I will check it out on DVD rental for sure. If I had to go see it in a theater, I would have to go with a woman ’cause I wouldn’t feel comfortable seeing it by myself, lol.

My only concern with this “50 Shades of Grey” movie is the rating. It’s going to be very hard to make it an R movie. It’s probably gonna end up being NC-17. BDSM is pretty graphic stuff for R rated. If they do end up making this movie R rated, then it won’t work ’cause it won’t be as dark and graphic like the book. It’s going to be interesting to see what they are going to rate it. It will be interesting to see who they’ll cast for Christian and Anastasia. I’ll be on the look out.

While this book has mostly female fans there are a lot of male fans who are afraid to admit that they like it too. There are tons of people out there who are into BDSM and other weird fetishes. You may be surprised of what people do behind closed doors. Things are not always as it seems.

Saw “Man of Steel” again for the second time last night, and the film still impresses me…

I think “Man of Steel” maybe the best film of the year. I love it so much. Maybe the film can work without the Richard Donner styled stuff and the John Williams theme after all? It don’t hurt to reinvent Superman and give it another try. “Man of Steel” gets better with every viewing and you learn something new about it every time you watch. This is one of these films that you can watch repeatedly and never get bored of it so I already can’t wait for the BluRay release for “Man of Steel”. Could “Man Of Steel” actually score a lot of nominations for the next Oscars? It probably won’t get nominated for “Best Picture” ’cause the Oscars usually don’t give these kind of movies the nod for “Best Picture”. I remember they tried to get “The Dark Knight” a Best Picture nod but of course, it didn’t make it in.

However, there are some things in “Man of Steel” that deserves an Oscar nomination like for sound, cinematography, editing, etc. I also think Kevin Costner deserves BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR nomination for his role as Jonathan Kent. Hans Zimmer also deserves a nod for his score for this film. I think Hans Zimmer just topped John Williams, all the way.

“Man of Steel” really is a beautiful and amazing movie. It’s just perfect all the way through. No complaints at all. Zack did a great job. Hope you get your chance to see it soon.

I have also seen, “Fast and Furious 6”, last night. I’ve seen these movies at a Drive-In theaters so it was a double-feature films.

“Fast and Furious 6” was actually pretty good. It was a fun and entertaining action movie. The Rock was pretty badass in it, although, I love “Man of Steel” way more, of course! I’ll write the “Fast and Furious 6” review later today.

You see, Zack Snyder is a great film director, he is just a bad screenwriter…

I know Zack Snyder is not everyone’s favorite film director — his work have always been critical over the years. He’s really talented with the visuals, cinematography and camera work but his problem is the writing. He only wrote a few of his own movies that he directed but the rest of his movies in his filmography someone else wrote the screenplay. He only wrote the scripts for “300” and “Sucker-Punch”. “Dawn of the Dead”, “Watchmen”, and “Legends of the Guardians”, someone else wrote them. People were alright with his previous films but everyone hated, “Sucker-Punch”. I agree, “Sucker-Punch” was a shit movie.

Zack tries really hard to make a great movie. If he makes a bad movie, it’s not really his fault, you know? When you make a movie, sometimes you never can tell how good it’s going to be or what kind of reception the film is going to get. I’ve always thought Zack was perfect for “Man of Steel” ’cause I can’t think of no other director that would make a good Superman movie. It’s Zack talented visuals. That’s the key for WB’s wanting Zack to direct “Man of Steel”.

What Zack needs to start making better films is to quit writing his own movies. He needs to choose better scripts from other writers. I know Zack didn’t hire David Goyer for “Man of Steel”, David was already hired by Warner Bros./DC even before Zack jumped aboard. The point I’m trying to make here is that Zack just proved that he can make a good movie all-around with “Man of Steel”. He proved everyone wrong that he can be a good film maker. Not just his visuals, everything. Christopher Nolan didn’t help him much either. Nolan was on set for “Man of Steel” for a little bit but I remember in interviews Nolan was saying this was Zack’s movie in every way. Chris wanted to step back and let Zack be in charge of the direction. I’m sure Nolan helped Zack a little bit but he wanted Zack to have his time and let him do whatever he wanted with “Man of Steel”. So don’t go mistakenly thinking that Zack made a good Superman movie ’cause of Nolan’s help. Zack did it all himself, all the way. If you look around, you can see all kinds of “Man of Steel” behind the scene photos and you never see Nolan on set that much. It was always Zack, all the time.

Zack really worked hard to make the best Superman movie possible and he did exactly that. It really was an amazing movie, and I’m planning on seeing “Man of Steel” again tonight at the Drive-In movie theaters. Seeing it again with some other friends who haven’t seen it.

Congratulations to Mr. Snyder. He finally won over movie fans and got the respect back that he absolutely deserves! Hope you readers out there have seen the film this weekend. If not, see it this week! You will not be disappointed at all, trust me.

Film Review: Man Of Steel

Starring: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburn, Michael Shannon

Directed by: Zack Snyder

Today, I just went to see “Man of Steel”, the new Superman movie by Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. Yes, the wait to see “Man of Steel” is finally over and I finally got to see it today. I went to see it in a cinema in Clifton Park that had RPX screening which had pretty impressive sound and picture. RPX is kind of similar to IMAX but a little different. I never saw a movie in RPX before but it was interesting. Now on with the review:

Plot/synopsis: This film focuses the origins of Superman. It tells the story of a young boy named Clark (or Kal-el) who discovers that he has strange powers everything from lifting heavy objects, x-ray vision and many other powers. He learns that he is not from this Earth and he is from a different planet called, Krypton. He was sent to Earth by his Krypton parents ’cause he was sent here for a reason. He was sent here to save the world from danger and to care for the people. As Clark tries to find out who he is and what he is, he is confronted by an enemy named General Zod (Michael Shannon) who is from his home planet of Krypton. Kal-el must save the planet Earth before the planet gets in total control of Zod.

When Zack Snyder was first hired and was first announced to direct this movie. Everyone was skeptical of him directing this due to his last couple of films that were crap like, “Sucker-Punch”, for example. As the film went along with production and being made, people were still skeptical of Zack directing. There was a huge debate on whether or not Zack has what it takes to make a good Superman movie or not. Over the last few years this movie has been going on, I’ve always believed Zack was the right choice. I always stood by him that he has what it takes to make a good Superman movie. I believed in him and trusted him. I’m glad I did.

Whether you’re a Marvel fan or whether you’re not much of a superhero fan at all, you still need to see “Man of Steel”. “Man of Steel” was the best superhero movie in the last decade. This was such a beautiful film. It is definitely a masterpiece. The visuals and special effects were impressive like Snyder’s visuals usually are impressive. Snyder took his visuals to the next level in this film. Yeah, this movie is full of green screen and CGI but Snyder is the best with this stuff. He certainly knows how to make CGI realistic looking and not cartoonish.

The casting was fantastic. Everybody did a great job. I was most impressed with Kevin Costner’s performance. His performance was very sad and almost brought tears to my eyes. I think Costner deserves an Oscar for supporting actor for this performance alone. Russell Crowe also did an amazing job playing Jor-El. Of course, we have Michael Shannon as General Zod who was menacing and evil like usual. Michael Shannon did a great job of making you wanting to hate him. Amy Adams was great too. Everyone did a good job, even Chris Meloni the “Law and Order” guy.

There were different emotions in this movie. You will get a mix of sadness, enjoyment, and there were even some comedic scenes as well. When the film makers kept saying they were going to make this Superman movie real as possible, it really was. They did a great job depicting of what Superman could be like in real life. That was the whole goal with the movie. Of course, one thing to keep in mind though, that “Man of Steel” felt like the newer comics. Especially the new 52 comics which is probably what the new movie is partly based on.

Even though this film has nothing to do with the Richard Donner films and there is no John Williams theme, I agree that those things aren’t necessary with this film after finally seeing, “Man of Steel”. A different look of Superman is possible and Zack did a good enough job proving it. I think he just redeemed himself for a change. He made everyone happy. I haven’t seen one negative review of “Man of Steel” at all.

This is exactly how you are supposed to make a Superman movie. It needs to be told with heart. Have lots of action. Superman kicking ass. Yeah, the film was very action packed, and it’s a good long 2 and a half hour film. You should like this movie just as much as “The Avengers”. Don’t wait for Blu Ray or DVD for “Man of Steel”, go see it right away this weekend please. You don’t need to see the Christopher Reeve films since this film is a reboot.

Speaking of Christopher Reeve, I wish he was still alive to see this film. I’m sure he would have loved it too! I’m already looking forward to the sequel and the upcoming “Justice League” film. “Man of Steel” really was amazing and I’m definitely buying the BluRay when it comes out. Probably gonna go see it in theater again too!

Two thumbs for “Man of Steel”.

Today, marks the 50th Anniversary of the movie, “Cleopatra”…

Today, officially marks the 50th Anniversary of, “Cleopatra”, the biopic film of the Egyptian Queen. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I watched this movie on Netflix a long while back, I think sometime last year and I loved everything about it. Such a beautiful movie and story! On top of that, Elizabeth Taylor was smoking HOT in this film. That’s a huge part of why a lot of people like this film. I almost bought the 50th Anniversary Blu-Ray to “Cleopatra” but put it back and decided to get it another time. Maybe, I’ll pick it up next time. When I saw this on Netflix streaming, yes, I’ll admit it was the first time I ever watched the movie. I’m trying to catch up with all the big classics on Netflix. This is an amazing film, though.

Cool Photo: See “Man of Steel” cast and Zack Snyder at the NYC premiere…

“Man of Steel” cast and Zack Snyder hanging at the premiere in NYC. Don’t those three women look beautiful? Hell yeah, they do. Seems that Michael Shannon stands taller than everyone else, LOL! I just looked up Michael’s height and he’s 6 foot 3. Yes, that is Laurence Fishburne who plays a black Perry White in the film.

Can’t wait to see “Man of Steel”. Critics are already giving this movie rave reviews so look like everyone will be happy with this film. I’m pretty sure I’m seeing, “Man of Steel”, this weekend. I won’t be seeing it alone, I believe. I’m possibly going with several other friends in my area. I would have gone to see this movie alone but with this being, “Superman”, you can’t see it alone. You want to see this movie with other people to make it a blast. You want to have fun cheering on for Superman.

Really looking forward to this flick. When I do see it, I’ll review it for my blog for sure.

Cool Video: “Diana” starring Naomi Watts, trailer hits the internets…

“Diana”, the biopic film about the life of the late Princess Diana of Wales starring Naomi Watts — the trailer has been released today. I’ve always been interested in the Princess Diana story. Her history and life is interesting to me. Naomi does a dead-on portrayal of Princess Diana, I must say. This film also has Oscar potential written all over it. This could be the film that could land Naomi her first Oscar. Princess Di may have been a bit crazy sure but no matter what you think of her, she was a pretty powerful and influential woman. It’s a shame what happened to her and she sure didn’t deserve death this soon. This movie looks interesting, and I’ll be there for this one, I think. Count me in.

Report: “Friday the 13th” franchise goes back home to Paramount Pictures…

This is really good news for fans of horror movies and the Friday the 13th franchise. The Friday The 13th franchise officially goes back to it’s original home at Paramount Pictures. The last Friday the 13th movie that was made at Paramount was, “Jason Takes Manhattan”.

They also gave up the rights to the South Park movie to Paramount. What is the reason Warner Bros. wanted to give up the rights for both films? It’s all because they wanted to make Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci movie, “Interstellar”.

No reasons were given on why they gave up Friday and South Park for “Interstellar” but I’m willing to bet it’s about the money. “Interstellar” will be a very expensive movie to make and they wanted to save some money by getting rid of other franchises.

You know how WB’s are. They wouldn’t give up on Nolan for anything. WB’s is pretty loyal to Nolan.

Back to Friday the 13th though, I’m a fan of the series. Saw every single film. I even saw, “Jason Goes to Hell”, “Jason X”, “Freddy Vs. Jason”, and the 2009 re-boot. Yes, of course, I’ve seen all of the original series. They are great films. As for my favorite Friday movies… they would have to be the first two and I liked, “Jason Takes Manhattan” quite a lot. “Freddy Vs. Jason” was even quite enjoyable. I even enjoyed the 2009 re-boot.

Now that the Friday franchise is finally back home at Paramount after all these years, I wonder how they’re gonna handle the next Friday film? They won’t be able to make a sequel to the 2009 Friday the 13th film ’cause Michael Bay owns the rights to that movie and Paramount may not be able to work with him for the next one. Will Paramount continue the movies from the original sequels or will they re-boot the series all over again? We’ll have to wait and see what their plans are.

I’m sure Paramount is happy that they got Jason Voorhees back. I think Paramount is the only company who can make good Friday movies ’cause New Line sucked. I hope the next Friday movie will be much more like the originals.

Read more on the story, here.
