Neil Young, why he doesn’t get respect anymore like he used to…

It’s interesting how today’s generation of music fans react to the music of Neil Young. Not a lot of people respect him anymore. Why? Simply because Neil doesn’t concentrate on writing commercial or mainstream music. He’s just wrote songs, he’s never worried about his records being hits. A lot of people like to slam Neil’s talent. Saying how he can’t sing or play guitar, blah blah blah. Sorry to say, but Neil is an amazing singer and guitar player. He’s one of the best electric guitarists alive. He’s a phenomenal lead guitarist which often gets overlooked.

His most commercial albums he did over the years, that I think were big hits were: “Harvest”, “Freedom”, and “Mirror Ball” (the one he did with Pearl Jam). All of his other albums were pretty obscure.

They don’t call Neil the “Godfather of Grunge” for nothing. I believe it was him that created the grunge genre before Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, etc. all came around.

I believe people don’t like Neil because of his long jams on albums and in live concerts. He’s just loves to jam, that’s how he is.

I’ve just listened to his new album, “Psychedellic Pill” with Crazy Horse, and I think that’s the best record, Neil, has done in years. There are long songs on it. Songs that can go from 15 – 30 minutes long, but again, that’s Neil. He always saw music, the old school way. “Psychedellic Pill” is a pretty sick album. I think it might have potential to be a Billboard hit. Neil Young is not going away from music anytime soon. He’ll be doing it ’til the day he dies.

I wish Neil would get respect more, though. I don’t understand today’s industry. We have garbage like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown, etc. Why don’t you listen to real artists like Neil Young? He still records in analog and old school audio recording equipment. He takes sound very seriously. Neil is an inspiration and hero to me. I think his new album, “Pyschedellic Pill”, is the best album of 2012, so far. You should definitely check it out. Neil still gets better in songwriting even after a 30-40 year long career. He has guts to keep going to this day, when most rock legends, retired.

About Gary Clark Jr.’s “Blak and Blu”… don’t think I’m getting the album…

I just went on the Itunes store just to browse a little bit, so I decided to listen to the previews of Gary Clark Jr.’s album, “Blak & Blu”. To be honest, it’s not my cup of tea, so I’m not going to be getting it. There’s a few rockin’ blues tunes with great guitar playing on the album, but from what I heard, most of it sounds like pop and R&B music. Disappointing. That’s what a talented indie artist got when they jump into the major label market. They would get turned into mainstream pop artists. Sad.

While I do like Itunes and Apple, I can’t stand most of today’s music in their music store. I don’t really like how today’s music industry is. It all turned to shit. I can’t even get into Mumford & Sons. I’ll talk about my feelings on today’s music industry in another topic. It’s getting worse and worse each year.

Cool Video: The Pistol Annies, “Hell On Heels”… I’m not into country much but this is a great tune…

I’m sure some of you have heard of the Pistol Annies, a country group, and I’m sure you’ve heard this song, “Hell On Heels” many times. I’ve never heard of this group at all until I’ve read about them in Neil Young’s book, “Waging Heavy Peace”. Toward the end of the book, Neil was praising the hell out of them, saying how great they were. So I had to give a listen myself, and he was right. They are great. Three hot ladies, who know how to write good songs and sing great vocal harmonies. I’m going to listen to a few more songs by them, and if I like their tunes enough, I might even get this album. I’m not a country music fan. I used to like some of it but the genre is not my cup of tea anymore. I will always love Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Clint Black, and Hank Williams Sr., though. They will always be my favorite country artists.

Cool Video: I think I’m gonna get Gary Clark Jr.’s new album, “Blak and Blu” from Itunes tomorrow…

Maybe there could be a new guitar hero on the way, after all? This is really great stuff. I don’t like the mainstream of today’s music too much, but this stuff sounds good. This is Gary Clark Jr’s first album under a major label. He has a few other albums before this, but they were self released albums, I believe. This guy’s music caught my ear, and definitely looking forward to checking him out. This is a pretty rockin’ song in the video below. Pretty sick, I must say!

David Bowie, spotted out publicly recently in New York City…

While David Bowie, still wants nothing to do with the music industry anymore, the man is still alive and well. He was just spotted in NYC walking the streets, all smiles. Wearing a flat hat, wraparound glasses, and a hooded sweatshirt so he wouldn’t get recognized by rabid fans and paparazzi. The man is a full time resident in NYC, the big Apple, and it appears that he still lives there.

Read this interesting article, on David’s so called retirement from the music business, here.

Whether he is retired or not, I’ll support him on whatever he does. I still have hopes that he will come out of retirement for new album and tour. He is looking really good, though.

Report: Possible Led Zeppelin/Foo Fighters collaboration on the way???

There may never be a Led Zeppelin reunion, but that’s not stopping Jimmy Page for doing other things in his own career. Speaking to BBC6 radio, Jimmy Page announced that he is planning on doing a new album and full tour of his own, sometime next year in 2013. Like the article says, Jimmy hasn’t been in the studio in a long time for new original music.

Since the Foo Fighters, announced hiatus, could Jimmy Page be working on a possible album with, Dave Grohl? Jimmy and Dave have been friends for years. They already played together once at the Foo Fighters concert at Wembley Stadium in 2008, so anything is possible. I can see Jimmy and Dave working together.

More on the story, here.

Madonna, did she go too far this time? I’d say yes, and she should hang it up and retire already!

Nothing wrong with showing support and paying respects to a 14 year old Pakistani girl who’s life is in danger, but my god, Madge. Keep your fucking clothes on! She’s like 54 years old. She’s not a sex symbol anymore. When she takes her clothes off, she looks like a disgusting old hag. Her fans still enjoy watching her do that stuff on stage? Malala’s goal was education in her country, and it’s not a good idea for Madonna to promote sex along with it. Typical Madge. She desperate for attention more than anybody. Just quit Madge, ’cause nobody cares about you anymore.

See the article, here, and see the video below.

My heart goes out to Malala, by the way.

Cool Video: Hear a new Neil Young & Crazy Horse song “Ramada Inn”…

Dare to listen to this full 17 minute track? I love it! As a matter of fact, I love songs that are over 10 minutes, ’cause in my opinion, I think 2 – 5 minute songs is too short for me. Some of you may think 20 minute songs are too slow and boring to you, but if you get used to it, the music will grow on you as you listen. The more you listen to 10 – 20 minute songs, the more it’ll seem that it’s not that long for you. I love rock bands that play long songs. It’s real art in my opinion. I’ll have a blog topic on long songs tomorrow.

Jimmy Page, finally shoots down Led Zeppelin tour reunion rumors…

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Jimmy Page was quick to shoot down rumors of a possible upcoming Led Zeppelin tour. He claims that if there were any more concerts to be done, they would already be talking about them.

Read, what he has to say, here.

Ah well, I guess I’ll give it up and get over it. I’ll still support them though, no matter the decisions they make. Hopefully Jimmy Page will come out with a new project of his own, whether it will be a new solo album or if he plays with a different band. I just want Jimmy Page back out there, doing something new.

Anyway, people will always find other ways to bring up new rumors about Led Zeppelin, even if they aren’t touring. Let the new album rumors begin soon, that possible unreleased studio album they did that Dave Grohl was talking about, don’t be surprised if rumors about that could blow up soon.

The guys must be getting frustrated though. They want people to appreciate their 2007 concert which is why they released it for us all, yet, people keep harassing them about a tour. This should hopefully shut everyone up about it now.
