Thought: Does Mariah Carey deserve this popularity?

The song “Touch My Body” is an ok song, it ain’t bad, but does it really deserve to beat down Elvis in Billboard? Hell no. This is just proof that people out there have bad taste in music. All people care about recently is “hit radio singles”.

Not with me. I’m not a “hit radio single” type of listener. If you are, then you probably ain’t my type of crowd that I would be hanging out with. No wonder this world can’t get another rock revolution ’cause the world is obsessed with pop music. Rock bands like Korn, Tool, Nickelback, The Velvet Revolver, etc. tried to take over the world for a little bit but failed because this nation is obsessed with pop music.

I never obsess with radio hit singles, I’m not that type of listener, never have and never will be. When I listen to music on CD, I don’t just listen to popular songs that you hear on the radio 50 times a day, I listen to a CD like I’m listening to a whole album. I do love “songs” that are not played on the radio. I listen to a whole album as if I’m listening to one entire song if you know what I mean.

*sigh*

I miss the old days in the 60’s and 70’s, early 90’s when Grunge rock took over, when people weren’t obsessed with radio singles where people would listen to an entire album from start to finish. It ain’t like that anymore. This is why rock music would never get another revolution.

Cool Video: Madonna “4 Minutes” official video online now…

Can’t find the official Madonna “4 Minutes” video in youtube ’cause Warner Music Group keeps forcing to take it down? Google video has it up…the song is actually great, I’m digging it. I’ll probably pick up “Hard Candy” album when it comes out.

Madonna is looking sexy in this video too.

If they do, I’ll definitely go. 🙂

Whose Side Are You On: Slash vs. Scott Weiland…

Scott Weiland came out to the public to attack the Velvet Revolver in return, saying the band kicked him out as a cover up because the band wasn’t getting along.

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003784105

As much as I hate to admit it, I’m on Scott Weiland’s side 100%. Sure, Weiland maybe a drunk and a drug addict still, but who isn’t? A lot of rock stars and musicians are out there. Even Slash used to be.

Matt Sorum did say the band was in a turmoil and wasn’t getting along well, so Weiland is right on the money on this one.

I find it a cool thing Weiland is no longer in the band actually. The Velvet Revolver is crap. I love Slash as a guitarist and love Weiland as a rock singer, I just don’t like VR’s songwriting.

I want Weiland to be back with STP ’cause I’ve been a die hard STP fan my entire life. I own all of their albums and saw STP in concert once. It’s great STP is coming back. Maybe we’ll get a new Stone Temple album down the road after their summer tour. That be sweet!

BREAKING NEWS: Madonna and Mariah Carey knock off Elvis Presley in Billboard…

Mariah Carey and Madonna, two pop music divas has changed Billboard history forever. Mariah Carey just moved past Elvis at the no 2. spot with her new single “Touch My Body”. Madonna will be passed by Elvis with her new single “4 Minutes” from her new album “Hard Candy” and the album is not even out yet!!!!!

Billboard Reports:

Holy smokes!

Warner Music Group is crying and begging for Madonna to not leave the label right about now, I bet.

These two divas are taking over the industry big time! These two songs aren’t too bad, I’m actually kind of digging them myself and I am not into this type of music much.

Pretty cool. If you have cable TV with the Sundance channell on it, you can watch this show then. I have the Sundance channel ’cause I have digital cable. I’ll be looking forward to seeing this.

I’m a big fan of both guys, Elvis and Elton.

I’ll have to tune into this to see what song they’re gonna do. It wouldn’t surprise me if it would be “Plush” or “Big Empty” so they can let the world know that the band is back.

Report: Neil Young announced he is releasing another new album with Crazy Horse…

The legendary rocker and acoustic artist Neil Young had just announced on his website, he will be releasing yet another new album with his longtime band Crazy Horse, the new album will be titled “Toast”. Back in the year 2000, Neil Young and Crazy Horse recorded in a studio in the south of Market street, the studio was called “Toast” where Young got the album title from. John Coltrane and other jazz greats recorded there. Young and Crazy Horse recorded in that studio over the years, with many of the work has not even been finished yet. The songs on the album are described as “bluesy” and “jazzy”. Young recorded a song with Booker T and the MG’s back in the old days, the song has been resurfaced and he plans on releasing it to the new album.

Neil Young continues to release album after album, year after year, he just never quits and never takes a break. Last year he just released “Chrome Dreams II” with Crazy Horse.

From Neil Young’s official website:

http://www.neilyoung.com/news/index.html

To be honest I didn’t really like “Chrome Dreams II” that much. I hope “Toast” will be a good one.

I still think “Living With War” is his best album ever made and nothing will top that in my opinion.

BREAKING NEWS: The Velvet Revolver fired Scott Weiland…

Slash recently announced that the band “Velvet Revolver” had kicked lead singer Scott Weiland out of the band. Slash says that the Velvet Revolver is about the fans and the music, but Scott Weiland was not committed to either, so the band was forced to move on without him. Which means they kicked him out. Weiland still seems to be an alcoholic and a drug addict which is probably the reason for his strange behavior.

Weiland agreed to leave the band so he can join the Stone Temple Pilots for a full reunion tour this summer.

MTV.com reports:

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1584599/20080401/velvet_revolver.jhtml

The Stone Temple Pilots reunion won’t even last long either, should Dean and Robert trust him after this?

Report: Chris Cornell speaks on Idol’s David Cook for “Billie Jean” cover…

Chris Cornell the former frontman for Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog/Audioslave recently saw David Cook’s performance of the Chris Cornell version of “Billie Jean”, a Michael Jackson cover on American Idol. Cornell says he was actually impressed with David’s singing and flattered that Cornell got the shout out on Idol. Cornell says that Cook sang the song almost note for note, sang it exactly the same way Cornell sang it. (see the videos below for proof). Cornell goes on saying that he is so proud of his version and wanted to know that he did it first.

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003782902

I don’t know what Chris Cornell is smokin’, but David Cook’s voice sound nothing like Cornell’s, not even close. I totally agree that Cook sang it “great”, but no where near Cornell’s range.

Cornell should appreciate to what Cook did for him rather than putting him down, Cornell is acting like his version is better.

I dont’ watch Idol anymore but I’ll have to start watching again, I stopped watching a few years ago. I’ve been hearing that Idol has been using live bands and using real instruments more than the “karaoke” thing, which is cool.
