I would like to wish Steven Tyler, the longtime singer for Aerosmith a Happy 60th Birthday. Yes, Steven Tyler just turned 60 years old today. Still performing with Aerosmith and singing strong.
Steven Tyler has been with Aerosmith for more than 30 long years, they still continue to make music together.
Aerosmith is a band that has been known to make a slew of monster radio hits nonstop with songs like “Dream On”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Same Old Song and Dance”, “(Dude) Look Like A Lady”, “Janie’s Got a Gun”, “Living On the Edge”, “Eat the Rich”, “Cryin’, “Amazing”, etc.
The band’s next project release will be a videogame titled “Aerosmith: Guitar Hero” edition which will be out this summer, maybe sometime in June I believe.
Thanks for keeping Aerosmith alive, Steven, and happy 60th!
Here’s a few Aerosmith videos in celebration of Steve Tyler’s birthday.
Billy Corgan spoke to Billboard.com over the phone while touring in Australia with the band. He continues to slam Virgin Records and Billy sounds pretty pissed off in this interview.
I’m sure you all know that “Zeit Geist” wasn’t released on Virgin Records, so the band and Virgin Records obviously had a long history of negative grudges.
I respect the band for this, it’s their music. If you own the music, you can sue who you want to who ever uses it without permission.
It’s all about copyright, copyright, copyright. Remember that!
Slash the guitarist for the Velvet Revolver came out to the public to confirm the rumours of the Velvet Revolver touring with Led Zeppelin is untrue. The rumour was first brought up by Duff McKagan who is Slash’s longtime buddy, both men are former members of the legendary Guns N’ Roses. Slash defended Duff by saying the Velvet Revolver touring with Led Zep was taking out of context.
Slash even agrees that a Led Zeppelin tour isn’t possible and that Robert Plant has his project going on with Alison Krauss. Slash confirms the Velvet Revolver will head back to the studio very soon to record a new record with the band.
I don’t think the Velvet Revolver are breaking up anytime soon. From the sounds of things, Slash seems very serious with the band and loves playing with them. When Scott Weiland claims “this is the final Velvet Revolver tour” he was probably just talking shit and maybe be a bit drunk/stoned out of his ass. I don’t think Weiland would really leave Velvet Revolver for STP. He’s just a crazy guy that likes to talk shit, that’s all.
I’m happy that someone from the Velvet Revovler came out and cleared everything, kudos to Slash. He’s da man! I don’t want that band touring with Led Zeppelin anyways. No band should tour with Led Zeppelin.
This video was posted on the front page on youtube and I had to post it here myself, I love this song, very catchy. It reminds me of folk artists like Billy Bragg and John Prine. I don’t know the guy’s name that wrote the song, but this song is truly badass. I dig it!
Enjoy!

Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins has filed a lawsuit against the label Virgin Records, claiming the label had no rights for using their band name and music for promotional and “Pepsi Stuff” advertisements with Amazon and Pepsi Co. Virgin Records has been the Pumpkins longtime record label for more than 17 years. The lawsuit demands that the label should pay the band with the profits earned in the promotion and to stop using the Pumpkins name or music in the future.
The band says they work extremely hard to keep the Smashing Pumpkins music alive to this day and they don’t want promotion threatening their artistic integrity…
Well, look like a Led Zeppelin and Velvet Revolver tour definitely won’t happen at all because there are some bad signs that the Velvet Revolver could be breaking up. At a concert in Glasgow, Scotland…lead singer Scott Weiland made an unexpected surprising announcement that shocked the fans and even the rest of the band members as well, that this is the final tour of the Velvet Revolver. Weiland was behaving very weirdly at the concert like dropping the microphone and walking off the stage, then coming back later to sing Gn’R song “It’s So Easy” in a crazy way.
There is also a big possibility that the Stone Temple Pilots may return to the national music scene full time with a full tour and possible new STP album. The other band members of the Velvet Revolver admitted the band has been in a turmoil lately.
If the Stone Temple Pilots do indeed return to music again full time, then it’s no surprise to me. How many times have that band broken up and then came back? More than a few.
I don’t like the Velvet Revolver and I hope they do breakup so there can be a Stone Temple comeback. I want Slash to move on to something better, maybe he can make an instrumental solo album that I always wanted Slash to do ’cause he’s an incredible guitarist. I just don’t like Slash playing with VR and I know he’s better than that.
The Weinsten Company has plans in making a biopic movie about the legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, with wife and widow Rita Marley is executive producing the film. It’s a film where an actor plays the legendary Bob Marley telling the story about his life and career in music.
Bob Marley’s family members has blocked a licensing deal from the Weinstein Company licensing the music of Bob Marley to be included in the biopic film. That means Bob Marley’s original studio recordings will not be included in the film.
Why is this you ask?
The answer is easy. Film maker Martin Scorsese has planned on making a rockumentary about the legendary singer similar to what he did to the movies “Shine the Light” (a rockumentary about the Rolling Stones) and “The Last Waltz” (a rockumentary about Robbie Robertson and The Band). Martin Scorsese doesn’t want to compete with another film based on the same thing about Bob Marley is the reason for the snub. Ziggy Marley and other family members only priority is keeping Bob Marley’s legacy alive to this day. The Marley biopic film is not yet greenlighted because there is not a script yet.
U2 just debuted a new song titled “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew”, they debuted it live on the Late Late Show. The lyrics to the “Ballad of Ronnie Drew” was written by Robert Hunter who was the longtime lyricist for the Grateful Dead. U2 wrote the music for the song. U2 performed the song as a special tribute to Ronnie Drew who is the frontman of the band The Dubliners. Musician Ronnie Drew is battling cancer and the band U2 wanted to pay respects to this Irish musician.
The musicians special guesting on the song “The Ballad of Ronnie Drew” are Sinead O’ Connor, Andrea Corr (from the Corrs), Moya Brennan, Damien Dempsey, Shane McGowan, Christy Moore, and more. All Irish musicians.
It’s a beautiful song, I hope U2 put this on their next album! Get well Ronnie!

Edit to add: I found the lyrics to the song.
The Ballad of Ronnie Drew
words by Robert Hunter
————————————–
Here’s to the Ronnie, the voice we adore
Like coals from a coal bucket scraping the floor
Sing out his praises in music and malt
And if you’re not Irish, that isn’t your fault
Raise up our voices like dogs in a pack
Thankful for honest men we never lack
We got ’em by twenties, we got ’em by ones
Them and their daughters and all of their sons
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you
And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I tied up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe
Get up and go at it, five until five
When the whistle says budge it we come back alive
He’ll sing to the heavens, he’s stormy as hell
And wherever he goes, we’ll be wishing him well
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you
The dawn and the dust, the wise, the unjust
Kids in gambling games
The unheard, the unseen, the unwashed and the clean
Where the streets all have names
Baggot Street, Leeson Street, right on to Stephens Street
With lovers and loners who can hear all intoners
The goths and the ravers, invalids and traders
Sing out Ronnie Drew
A life for a life or a hand for a hand
Trust in the music and strike up the band
The more that we sing the less that we fight
Time and again this is proved to be right
Build you a statue on St. Stephen’s Green
No fairer monument ere to be seen
The statue of Ronnie Drew holding the hand
Of a girl with her hair in a black velvet band
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
No stranger to devils or angles to tell
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend to you
Ronnie Drew, we love you, yes we do
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
Here’s to you, Ronnie Drew, here’s to you, Ronnie Drew
And what’s it to any man whether or no’
Whether I’m easy or whether I’m true
As I lifted her petticoat easy and slow
And I rolled up me sleeve for to buckle her shoe!
