Metallica debuts new song, “The Lords of Summer” at a concert overseas…

Metallica played one of their overseas concerts and they just debut’ed a new song titled, “The Lords of Summer”.

Like usual, every time Metallica puts out new music, they always get mixed reviews. Some love it. Some hate it. For those who hate it, Metallica haters will just hate everything they do. I can’t stand it. Everybody’s been wanting them to go back to thrash metal and that’s exactly what they’ve done in this song. This new song brings back the 80’s thrash metal vibe: the “Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets” eras.

I can’t understand Metallica critics ’cause they can be pretty weird and very delusional. Fans want them to go back to thrash and heavy stuff. Metallica are doing their best to give what the fans want but of course, they can’t make everybody happy still.

Even if their new album could have Cliff Burton like thrash-metal on it, I’m sure fans will still be shitting on it.

I never listen to Metallica critics or haters. I’ve stayed loyal through everything they’ve done.

I dig the new song and look forward to hearing more new stuff. “The Lords of Summer” kind of sounds like Cliff Burton would have played on it.

Look like Metallica will release their new album pretty soon.

First three Led Zeppelin remasters announced…

Jimmy Page have been talking about re-releasing all Led Zeppelin albums into re-masters along with unreleased material and outtakes. Led Zeppelin have finally announced it today. They will release the first three Led Zeppelin re-masters. You have a choice whether or not you want to get ’em on CD or vinyl or both. You also have an option whether or not you want the Deluxe editions or the regular edition. They will be released on June 3rd.

http://www.ledzeppelin.com/buy/

As a die-hard Led Zeppelin fanatic, I’m probably gonna buy the Deluxe editions on CD ’cause I want the unreleased stuff.

I’m happy that Jimmy Page is finally releasing these but to be honest, I want him to stop wasting time & money on Led Zeppelin so much when he should release a new project of his own. Come on Jimmy, release a new album already. Whether he’ll do a new solo album or another band, I just want him to release something new. Do we get that? Nope. Sure enough, more Led Zeppelin material.

New Jimi Hendrix movie biopic is on the way…

Experience Hendrix, LLC has announced they will move ahead with the Jimi Hendrix biopic. This is not to be confused with the other Hendrix biopic starring Andre 3000. This Hendrix biopic is totally different and separate. The other film with Andre 3000 is not authorized by Experience Hendrix, LLC… this one will be. In this biopic film will have Jimi’s songs played throughout the film.

No casting, no director, no writer or producers have been hired yet but they said the plot will be chronicling the life and career of Jimi Hendrix. The movie will probably go from his childhood to his death.

More on the story, here.

I’m more interested in this biopic film than the Andre 3000 film. Who is going to play Jimi Hendrix in this film? I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be accurate with Jimi’s life in this movie since this film will be made by his family. Experience Hendrix LLC, is owned by Jimi’s father and helmed by his sister, Janie.

I’m a huge Jimi Hendrix fan. He’s my 2nd favorite guitarist right behind Jimmy Page. I’m sure they will make this a good movie. It should be a hit for musicians and regular music lovers. Jimi’s story should be an interesting one, though, as it deserves to be told. I’m sure everybody would like to know how Jimi became a musician and all would be told in this film. I’m sure the film will focus mostly on his music career and his drug problems as well.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re gonna pull off the Woodstock and Monterey Pop Festival scenes.

I hope they pick a good actor to play, Jimi. They probably won’t go for Andre 3000, they should probably go for somebody different. I’d say go for Lenny Kravitz maybe? Lenny’s already doing some movies and he’s already a good guitar player so I say go for him. Lenny has a lot of Hendrix resemblance so he’ll be a good choice, I think.

Neil Young’s Pono player already creating a buzz online…

As expected, Neil Young’s Pono Player is already creating a huge buzz online after his launch announcement. Music lovers are already excited about it ’cause his kickstarter service already reached his goal in 1 day which is no surprise.

I think this is a good enough sign that Pono Music is gonna be HUGE in the future. The Pono player maybe a bit pricey for now but I’m sure Neil will bring down the price some when ever it starts selling real good. I think there’s a good chance that a lot of people will be curious about this so they will buy the Pono player and once they discover they love it… they’ll ditch Itunes and go to Pono instead. Yep, Pono is the future of digital music.

I wonder what music would sound like from the original master recording of albums? I’m sure it will have a louder and clearer sound, though. That’s the goal with Pono… to listen to the original recording of the album that was recorded in the studio. The major labels will have to send the original master recordings of albums to Pono.

Neil still listens to music the old school way. He prefers to listen to music on vinyl. Maybe that’s what the Pono player will sound like a little bit? He prefers to record his own music in the studio the old way as well ’cause he records all of his albums on analog only.

Neil looks at things differently than we all do. He’s an honest guy and I like what he’s doing here.

Neil Young will finally launch his long-awaited Pono Player…

Ever since Apple & Itunes got big, Neil Young hasn’t been too impressed with today’s sound of MP3 players and the Ipod. He just doesn’t like how the sound of the mp3 gets dummied down from the original recording. You know how when you record music on an album and you convert it to Mp3 for the internet, the sound goes down a little bit? That’s what Neil doesn’t want. He wants to stop that from happening so you can get a good, loud, and clean sound out of an mp3. That’s what the Pono player does. On the Pono player you can hear the original sound from the original recording… one that doesn’t lower the resolution of sound.

I’m sure some would accuse Neil Young of wanting to make more money and to please himself with the sound but it’s not true. He wants to improve the sound of digital music for the world. He’s doing this for all of us music lovers.

Pono Music will be launched this week on March, 15th, and the Pono player will cost $399 each.

More on the story here:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/neil-young-to-launch-21st-century-music-service-ponomusic-this-week-20140310

Could Neil Young change the future of digital music? Could Pono Music take over the spotlight of Apple/Itunes? I predict yes. Pretty soon, Apple/Itunes will be a thing of the past and something new will come around. I think that will be Neil’s, Pono Music. It may take some time but Pono Music will be big.

I’ll have to agree with Neil though that the sound quality on today’s mp3 is horrible. We deserve better sound quality.

I’m curious on what Pono sounds like myself. I’m sure it will sound way better than the Ipod. I think what Neil is doing is pretty heroic and I wish him luck on this.

15 Artists/bands who are deserving an induction into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”…

We talk about legendary bands like Rush and Kiss finally making it into the Hall of Fame after years of being ignored. Well, there are still a handful of other bands/artists that have been getting ignored by the Hall of Fame too. I might of done this list before a long time ago but it doesn’t hurt to do it again.

Here are 10 big artists/bands that keep getting snubbed in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” yearly:

Check out the inductee list, here… enjoy…

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn – Isn’t it amazing that a legendary blues rock guitarist like SRV is still getting ignored by the Hall of Fame??? This is not a true Hall of Fame if you do not include SRV. This guy had a legendary career.
  • Ozzy Osbourne (solo) – Black Sabbath is already in the Hall of Fame but Ozzy’s solo career isn’t yet. Ozzy’s solo career is worthy of an induction, absolutely.
  • Deep Purple – When will Deep Purple ever get their time? They keep getting nominated every year but they keep getting snubbed of an induction. Their time is coming.
  • Iron Maiden – Maiden totally deserves an induction. The Hall of Fame have been strict on inducting metal bands but they are slowly getting there since they inducted Black Sabbath, Metallica, etc. Maybe Maiden will get their time too. I love Iron Maiden!
  • Megadeth – No matter what you think of Dave Mustaine and Megadeth they had a legendary career. They are still going too. They accomplished so much in the music industry. Megadeth totally deserves it!
  • Ted Nugent – You can hate his right-wing politics all you want to but it can’t be denied that this man is a rock n’ roll legend! Come on Hall of Fame! Give him his time already! He’s got more great songs than “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Stranglehold”. This man is a rock n’ roll genius!
  • YES – It’s incredible that this progressive rock band isn’t even in the Hall of Fame yet. They are famous for their “Roundabout” song.
  • Jethro Tull – I love Jethro Tull! Ian Anderson and the guys totally deserve it!
  • Motorhead – Another band that I can’t understand why they are not in the Hall of Fame yet. Lemmy rules. \m/
  • “Weird Al” Yankovic – Love Weird Al or hate him, he had a huge hand in helping to keep rock n’ roll alive. A lot of the rock artists he parodies didn’t even know they were famous until Weird Al came around. He parodied songs from every rock n’ roll band you can think of. Al Yankovic totally deserves it!
  • Billy Idol – How come this legendary rocker, Billy Idol not in the Hall of Fame yet? This guy had so many hit songs: “White Wedding”, “Rebel Yell”, “Mony Mony”, “Dancing With Myself”, etc. I fuckin’ love Billy Idol, give him his time already!!!
  • Dire Straits – They were the ones who helped MTV the music video station become huge in the 80’s with their hit song, “Money For Nothing”. I think that alone is worthy of an induction.
  • Joe Satriani: Believe it or not, the Satch is eligible for a Hall of Fame induction and he’s totally worthy.
  • Twisted Sister – Dee Snider’s Twisted Sister was a big deal for MTV back in the 80’s.
  • Pat Benatar – Why isn’t this “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Love Is a Battlefield” singer in the Hall of Fame yet? She also influenced rock n’ roll in a great way. She’s totally deserving!

Future rock n’ roll hall of famers (bands/artists who are not yet eligible for 25 years): Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Oasis, Radiohead, the Foo Fighters, Weezer

How come I haven’t heard about the 2Cellos before???

This video gone viral is just two guys on the cello doing their rendition of Ac/Dc’s “Thunderstruck”. This video is so impressive and I was blown away. I had goosebumps throughout the whole video. These guys shred on the cellos!

When you play strings instruments such as cello, violin, viola, etc. people mistakenly believe you have to play classical music only on them. Not always. You can play any type of music on any kind of instrument. Play rock or metal doesn’t always have to be on guitar.

I was pretty impressed with this video and had a smile on my face watching this. I hope Brian, Angus, and Malcolm saw this.

Happy 47th birthday Kurt!!!

Today would have been Kurt’s 47th birthday. Yes, I’m loyal to Nirvana. Always have been since my high school years. During high school, I would go home turn on the TV and watch MTV hoping any Nirvana videos would come on. Then I bought the CD “Nevermind” and I remembered listening to it over and over. I loved that record “Nevermind” back then and still love it now. That’s an album I’ll never get tired of loving. “In Utero” was amazing as well. All of their records are great even, “MTV Unplugged in New York”.

Nirvana have gotten a lot of criticism over the years. People thought Kurt was a talent-less songwriter and they thought Nirvana was a crappy band but I disagree. The haters also think Nirvana destroyed rock music and I disagree with that too. Nirvana was a huge part of changing rock and punk music forever. I’ve also always believed that Kurt was murdered, he didn’t kill himself.

I don’t care what the haters and doubters think of Nirvana, they were an amazing band. I thought this band were amazing live performers too. They put on the best shows. Just three guys rockin’ on stage and being tight as hell! I thought “Live at Reading” was one of their best performances other than their MTV Unplugged show. Kurt was a talented man. Their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction is totally deserving. I wish Kurt was still alive so he can see himself get inducted into the Hall of Fame ’cause I’m positive he would be all for it.

Nirvana was the greatest. They were my heroes in my teenage years. I’ve always been obsessed with the band. Someday I’ll put together a Nirvana tribute video of me covering their songs. Maybe Kurt’s upcoming anniversary death???

Love Nirvana or hate ’em, they were an important part of music history and they have a special legacy.

Check out this article where Kurt’s hometown of Aberdeen paid tribute to Kurt which is pretty cool!

It’s unfair that Nirvana gets so much negative criticism. No matter what anybody says, I’ll always stay loyal to Nirvana just like I do with Metallica. Kurt maybe gone but his legacy is never going away.

Metallica on why they continue as a band…

Just the other night, I was watching the extras on the “Metallica: Through the Never” BluRay… and there was this interview with James Hetfield and he was explaining why Metallica continued on as a band for over 30 years or so. James explained as long as it’s the right thing to do, they’ll continue on no matter what anybody says. He said that in those exact words I believe and it was inspiring for him to say that. He really means it when he says something like that and you can tell.

What James means is that as long as they keep getting successful, they’ll continue to do it, not giving a fuck about anybody, ya know? They know that if they continue as a band, they’ll get all kinds of mixed opinions about people but they don’t care. You can see they have that kind of attitude. They’re just not afraid to do what they wanna do.

I respect them for that. Most legendary metal bands have retired and moved on but Metallica is one of the very few who kept going. They’ve been going for 30 years and I’m feeling they’ll go on for another 30, lol.

I respect their “don’t give a shit attitude”.

That’s the way to be in music, ya know? You wanna be out there playing music, you’re gonna get all kinds of critics and haters all over the place. Every where you go. You gotta ignore all that stuff if you wanna make it in music. That’s how Metallica made it by not giving a shit. They get so much negative criticism, it’s crazy. I respect them for continuing on. They’ve been accused of selling out and trying to fit in the commercial mainstream but I disagree. I see them as a band who just wanna do their thing like all the other bands out there. They’re no different than other bands.

As long as people are buying their records and going to their shows, they’re gonna keep doing it. I don’t see Metallica ever going away. Well, they’ll retire at some point ’cause I can’t see them playing metal at 80 years old (lol) but I think they have plenty of time left. They still got a lot more to do in their future.

I’ll always support and love Metallica. No matter what they do and no matter how many times they change their direction of music. You never know what this band have in store for their next album too. Everybody wants them to play thrash metal and heavy music but next thing you know, they’ll go a different direction for their next album. This band is unpredictable for sure.

You can’t deny that this band have a lot of balls. Whenever Metallica is being hated on in facebook, forums and other places on the internet, I’ll have no problem defending the band. I understand why people don’t like ’em anymore ’cause of their change of direction of music but that’s what bands do, ya know? They change and evolve. Where was the outrage when Megadeth did the same exact thing? Ditched thrash metal and went different directions. I’ll always be loyal to Metallica. I’ll cover some of their songs for youtube at some point. \m/

De La Soul to give away their entire catalog for FREE for a day…

The rap/hip hop group, De La Soul, are planning to give away their entire discography of music for FREE on Valentine’s tomorrow for 25 hours. Why are they doing this? It’s just their way giving their love back to the fans plus they don’t have their music on Itunes. They want their music on Itunes but they’re trying to work it out. Simply put, this is their way of giving their fans a Valentine’s gift.

Full story, here.

This is a good idea! Another artist who believes in free music and we need more like this! I remember De La Soul too, what a throwback. I never bought their records but I used to hear their songs on the radio all the time. I remember the song, “Me, myself and I”.
